How to unbrick Samsung Galaxy Gio [June.5.12] - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

How to Unbrick Samsung Galaxy Gio
If your phone doesn’t boot into download mode and you have a black screen after flashing anything wrong. Here's how you unbrick it; worked for me
==Method 1:==
Prepare ODIN with the firmware you want to flash (in my case was Gingerbread 2.3.4) and get it ready to go.
-
Remove battery, wait for a bit. Insert battery again.
-
Flash a recovery with your specific filesystem (EXT4 or RFS)-(If you have EXT4, download ext4 only, don't get ext4+rfs)
-
Enter recovery & Wipe | Format:
System
Data
Cache
Dalvik Cache
Have ODIN ready. Connect phone to PC.
-
Reboot to Download Mode
Hold Volume down + Power + Home button at the same time.
-
At this point Odin should have detected your Galaxy Gio (Yellow rectangle should appear).
-
Insert the Stock Rom or Custom Rom.
-
Click Start button in Odin and wait about 5 min.
-
Reboot and wait
If all goes well it should come back to life.
If not, repeat the steps above ^ (Atleast 2x)
Download ODIN 4.42
Download OPS Only
Download DRIVER Only

It was hard to understand but did you mean: "Recovery mode and download mode does not work on my phone. It's not charging in this case. Does this process unbrick the phone with kies?"
Still hard to understand what you mean, did you brick your phone when trying to install clockworkmod?

If your phone doesn’t boot into download mode and you have a black screen after flashing Froyo or GB here's how you unbrick it, it worked for me .
Step 1 – Prepare odin with the firmware u want to flash (in my case was gingerbread 2.3.4) and get it ready to go;
Step 2 – Remove battery, SIM and SD card, next connect your Galaxy Gio to the computer;
Step 3 – Hold Volume down + Power + Home button at the same time;
Step 4 – Insert the battery and wait a bit;
Step 5 – At this point Odin should have detected your SG Gio ( Yellow rectangle should appear);
Step 6 – Click Start button in Odin and wait about 5 min.
If all goes well it should come back to life.
If not, enter the Stock Recovery and Wipe Data and Cache, then repeat the steps above ^

Does stock Rom work for you? Reflash it but you MUST wipe Data and Cache using the STOCK recovery before you reflash Stock!!
Remember to follow flashing instructions posted by the Dev!

I have stock now on it, but I haven't wiped Data and Cache with the stock recovery, because I use CWM. This afternoon I will try to do it with the stock recovery.

Now I have wiped everything with the stock recovery, and then I tried to install the stock rom. I still have the bootloop. I really don't understand it. It has to work...
//When I click on "test redbend fota[FS]" in the stock recovery I get this error:

You need to post more info if possible but it sounds like you are trying to downgrade from MA7 to an earlier firmware like LK8. The update included a security patch so it won't let you go back to insecure. Try pulling the sboot out of whatever you are trying to flash or stick with MA7

It's not brick cuz odin can still see your phone. If you dont have TWRP on it, go to www.twrp.com and download the tar file for sprint note 2. Then use Odin to flash it. Once you are done that, go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769 to get either the old LJC or MA7 and put it in your phone either internal or external SD. Do the wipe cache/factory reset first. Then flash it. It will go back to stock rom.
Help
Hello even though its old I figured I would post here first instead of starting a new thread, my friend has a Note 2 for Sprint never rooted or custom ROM flashed and he said it was sitting on the charger and when he woke up in the morning it was off and after attempting to power the device on it stays stuck on the Samsung logo. I cant get Kies to recognize the device at all not matter what pc is use however it shows up in Odin but it fails everything from stock files ( older and current ) , different versions of Odin, recoveries and I even tried a " unbrick .tar file " . Any help at all would be appreciated I will include pics

Can you odin a custom recovery and boot into it?
1. Put phone in download mode
2. In odin program uncheck reboot and flash recovery
3. After flash disconnect phone and pull battery
4. Quickly insert and remove battery multiple times (if you just reinsert battery it will automatically boot)
5. Boot phone into recovery backup any important data that is on your internal sdcard
6. Do factory reset then flash billards stock mc2 with counter reset (do not wipe cache after flashing this)
7. Flash superuser zip found in billards Op
8. Reboot phone and freakout when see the screen do odd things and reboot (this is normal)
Now it will bootup on stock rooted mc2.

ssn: S5660GSMH
I 'ved done code factory reset on my gt-s5660 #*2 etc... and after that the phone got stuck on boot loop only showing samsung logo far a few seconds and rebooting in a infinite cycle.
I've already used Odin 4.42 to flash rom's tried some already.
My status is:

if i press volume donw+volume up + power -> message: LK(litle kernel) and the starts the boot loop
so, i only can get into downloading mode.
Odin does the flash but with sucess at the end it times out on the rebooting pass.
Kies dont recognize the phone
Wath can i do to revive the phone?
on a post i found this:
"
Stuck in a boot loop?
Is it still able to boot into CWM(Recovery Mode) or Download Mode.
If it's still able to go back into Download Mode, you don't need this software.
Just turn your Captivate into the Download Mode and flash back to STOCK Eclair or Froyo using Odin 1 Click or whatever similar.
"
where can i get the stock Eclair or Froyo android rom?
Can you get into the recovery menu? (Hold home + Power).
If yes, try factory reset again and also clear the Cache Partition
Also, which roms did you try to flash?

Not sure where to get Éclair or Froyo from, but you can get Gingerbread from here
(go to hotfile.com/dl/156197872/2b59195/S5660XXKTL_S5660DBTKT1_DBT.zip.html)
This is Gingerbread 2.3.6 from Samsung
you will need to extract the zip and then flash the ROM using odin
I have successfully flashed this ROM twice this week.

One of the CyanogenMod ROM's may work for you
Not sure where to get one that you can flash with odin though; would be worth having a look through the Gio's "Android development" forum.

Hi, I had a similar problem a day ago, I corupted CWM and couldn't boot into android, When i started my phone a samsung logo appeared and then black screen, I could access download mode ( Power button, Volume - and home button ) So all you do after you enter download mode is download Odin multi downloader, and a flashable ClockworkMOD recovery, ( PM me if you want links ) and flash it into the phone, after that just reboot the phone and you will be just fine.

Hey,
First put your phone into download mode and plug it in to your PC and make sure Odin recognizes it, then add Ancora.ops in the OPS window and the recovery.tar.md5 in the One package window. Also make sure that One package , Auto reboot and Protect OPS are checked, you should uncheck reset time because i've hear that it is causing some problems. Then just click the " Start " button and sit back, you phone will be back on in few minutes.
Just a question : Did you have any android installed when you corrupted the recovery? If yes, after you flashed the recovery the phone will reboot and will boot into android, if not then just flash the rom file if you already have one in your sdcard/internal storage.
Your phone is soft-bricked, don't worry, it will be back and running again
I just corrupted my recovery on my phone on purpose to try if the cwm recovery works. And yes, it worked, so it should work on your phone too.
Good luck flashing your recovery, Please answer back because I want to know if this method worked.
Here are the files, just extract the rar file
Finally i have KitKat!!
Finally Solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After long days and hundred tries, it works finally. The story is as below:
1- I failed to download the CWM 6.0.4.5 directly in this state using ODIN,
2- I downloaded the stock (Yes old 2.3.6 ginger bread ROM) using ODIN. However this version keep rebooting and never completed the start up.
3- With ROM installed now (even it's not booting), i tried to download older version of CWM using ODIN (CWM 5.0.4). It was successful!!
4- I tried to do the restore for my old system, but it failed as i did backup with newer version.
5- I flashed Monster ROM (4.2.2), it works wonderful.
6- I downloaded the CWM 6.0.4.5 finally using ODIN.
7- Now i'm using 4.4.2 on my mobile finally.
Advice: Never do a flashing to your mobile when you are not fully concentrating what you are doing. Also, make sure to download the right tool and ROM for your device.
Thank you for everyone who tried to help me.

Ok. As a note of advice for the future, don't just install ROMs one on top of the other. Do it clean, always, to avoid such problems.
For all ROM installations, please, follow the steps below:
First, make sure you got the ROM and the correct Gapps on your External SD Card.
After that, enter CWM and:
select "wipe data / factory reset"
go to "mounts & storage" and format /system. This is extremely important!
under the same menu, format /sdcard0 (be careful NOT to format /sdcard1, or /external_sd for older CWM versions, by mistake)
install the ROM (from the external sd)
install Gapps (from the external sd)
reboot your phone
Please, note that every step of this tutorial is mandatory!
Note: if you've got pictures/videos/documents, but NO application data (such as specific app files/settings), that you want to save, move them to a location on your External SD Card or a computer, because you're about to format the internal memory. If you want to move them back, you can do it after flashing the ROM.
Hope it helps.

Is the new battery an original battery? And also, did you try to connect your phone to charger and enter CWM like this? Also, which CWM version did you install and where did you get it from (link to the thread maybe)?

Ok, please, try replacing your CWM recovery with this one here.
You can either use the tar.md5 file and flash it via ODIN (using a Windows PC) or, if you would have a working ROM, download the zip file, extract the recovery.img from it and flash it via Flashify (downloadable app from Google Play Store). Tell me if it makes any difference. The new CWM version should be 6.0.4.5.

I just tried it with my phone:
-Open Odin Multi
-select "Ancora.ops"
-mark "One package"
-select "recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.5-ancora.tar.md5" under "integrate package"
I tried to mark and unmark "auto reboot"
Flash process only succeeds if it autoreboots.
AND have you uninstalled samsung kies? You can manually close all kies instances and processes via task manager, but its more safe to uninstall it and only install samsung USB drivers.
This is how you did?

Can you still enter download mode?
If yes --> try flashing again and see if you can enter CWM pls (Volume up + Home + Power)

Could you please, try another battery? I know you already changed it once. But just to be sure. Also, in the video, are you trying to start the phone after plugging the cable or does it automatically go into that recovery screen and then reboot?
