[Q] AT&T - Buffalo ? - Nokia Lumia 900

Wondered if there are AT&T stores or authourized dealers in Buffalo that will be selling the Nokia Lumia 900 off contract on the first day it's available? I know most units are typically reserved for AT&T customers signing new agreement or upgrading.
If you are an AT&T store or authourized dealer and are selling them off contract, could you please post here or PM me if you can't post in forum?
I'm looking to buy Cyan colour.
Thanks in advance !

I'm in the same boat. Looking for the Cyan 900. But Rogers only has the boring black model. Would prefer it unbranded so I can use the tethering feature.. but also don't think paying $200-$300 more for an unlocked model is worth it.
eBay is our best bet.

Tethering is a feature in the Lumia 900 is it not? It's shipping with Tango (the OS not the app) or have mis-understood the features?

Correct it's a feature. But ATT locks tethering to them so unless you're using it on ATT this feature will never work for you. This is the problem I have using the ATT Titan on Telus.
If you unbranded it then this would unlock tethering to be used on any carrier. I did this with an old HD7.

Then I'll go with black from Rogers and get cyan spray paint ! I've lived with phones that are not fully functional. Rogers Samsung Focus on Fido for example. The SMS never worked right. Nice phone but SMS is a big part of communication, so it became an issue. Sold the phone and dumped Fido. All that said I'm using a Rogers Nokia Lumia 710 on Mobilicity right now. No issues at all.
If AT&T is locking the unit down on this feature... then it's a black unit from Rogers for me. Have to wait and see.

Calling all AT&T corporate stores or authourized dealers in Buffalo.....
Are you selling off contract? If you are, me and a few other Canadians will be right over. Please post and let us know or PM me if you are not allowed to post in forum.
Or anyone living in Buffalo buying one can let us know ?

So far the best I can find is on eBay for $575 shipping here for another $50. Def not worth it.
Patience is a virtue.

FYI, the ATT version is not shipping with Tango. I've got it, and I have 7.10.8112.7 installed from factory. Plugged into Zune, and still no Tango.

Ah... but I think these will likely get Tango first... only makes sense that AT&T flagship device would get priority.
Or.. then again... maybe not. Good to know what version it is. It does have tethering though, so is a version very close to Tango.

Ha I live in buffalo but I preordered my cyan online though

Actually, Tethering was in Mango. It just needed to be turned on by your provider to work.

Got to hate those carrier restrictions. I have the Lumia 710 but it does not have tethering yet. Apparently the update is "coming soon". Maybe different models have differnt update schedule ? Would seem to me though that the Lumia 900 would get lots of early attention from Nokia and AT&T.

No chance of me getting to Buffalo today. Even if I could, I know the border is probably busy with holiday traffic.
Some are already posting this phone on KIJIJI in Toronto area for over $600. To me that's crazy but I suppose some will pay it.
I will have to be patient and see what the Rogers version brings. Likely frequency bands will be the same, but one can only hope they do the same thing as they did with the Lumia 710 (penta band with AWS 1700/2100).
Thanks all for reading and keep the posts coming !

come on at&t release the titan already!!!

omg is anyone as frustrated and pent up as I am that the titan is not quite here yet?!! I am in a horrible situation with t-mobile. I have horrific coverage at work and am there 60+ hours a week. I can't return text messages, web browse, send recieve emails, my calls drop, i'm literally carrying a huge paperweight when I get to the office.
I have to leave the building and go outside to use my phone, compound that with the fact that I have had my hd7 for an entire year, im dying to get a new phone. I have grown tired of the hardware and can't wait for the bigger screen, front facing cam and to be on a network that actually works!!
i should have never left at&t, i had unlimited data the A list and now those features are gone! tmobile lured me with the big screened hd7 only to find out months later its release for at&t big fail...
i've even gone to the nearby at&t store and they're clueless imbeciles! and also i am currently in a month long dispute trying to break my contract with t-mobile because of my horrible service at work, i blow up their customer relations fax # every business day, faxing them my 4 page letter of discontent, still pending...
either way , im bouncing from tmobile as soon as this phone hits, I just wallow day after day in frustration over my current carrier and old hardware
sigh!!!!!
They have just announced it

Wait for it... if you want Titan so bad, i will sell mine to you. X310E from UK.
I gotta say, my titan has been re-boxed in favor of the dell venue pro. It's a valiant effort but it's still HTC build quality and until Nokia has some U.S. Devices my dvp is the best wp7 device out after the fixes.
You can buy an unlocked Titan now on Amazon for $699 from 3rd party seller Expansys. Or buy straight from Expansys:
http://www.expansys-usa.com/htc-titan-windows-phone-7-5-smartphone-unlocked-black-221944/
If you're interested in a full price, unlocked verion of the Titan. I'm waiting for mine to arrive to make sure that the AT&T 3G bands work. The specs show the same bands, so I assume it will work with AT&T.
I bought the Telstra touch HD and then the telstra hd2 back in the day but times are a hard so im waiting for a contract special with at&t sad face

I think i read somewhere the uk titan has 850 mhz bang for att, if so and if you are in the united states, I think the display would be an "H" high speed data access hence 3g

[Q] World travel? AT&T?

LTE is defiantly Verizon. Also appears to cost $299 (w/ 2 yr. contract) on Verizon.
http://www.slashgear.com/galaxy-nexus-found-on-verizon-map-for-november-10-at-299-14188245/
Rumors have it going to AT&T & T-Mobile as well.... but those are just rumors.
LTE is technically AT&T as well, at least in some markets, but yes, I've heard the same rumors. That's what I'm trying to pin down, as Verizon's coverage in my area is spotty.

Lack of AT&T saddens me. Verizon has no coverage where I live.
God damn it, i don't care about verizon and their ridiculous pricing and lack of sim cards. Is this thing coming to T-Mobile?

I know how you feel, I feel the same way
I don't care if the f*cker costs $1000, just bring it to AT&T!!!!
Good news is..... wait for it.....
This info. seems dated, as this phone passed the FCC approval listings for AT&T and T-mobile.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/08/...s-through-the-fcc-possibly-heading-to-atandt/
So until we get an official Samsung or Google word on the actual carriers, I would just sum up everything to speculation.
The FCC testing reports and official spec sheets that have been floating around show the proper bands for both ATT and TMO. So, you can just order it where ever...
For those that are new to this line of phones, the nexus series has always ended up on all of the major carriers. Just be patient. I'm just as excited as you all are.

Yeah, that's just outrageous. It's typical phone pricing before the phone is actually released. When the dist settles, nothing but good news will come from it. There will be no way that this phone will be over $600. I'm thinking that $529 will be the sweet spot.
This is pentaband phone. I don't know why you need a carrier to have the SGN. I would buy it out right use it whatever carrier your on. Don't need a carrier to subsidies it even though it will be as cheaper way to go.

Ok, I;m gonna go out on my NooB limb here and just ask...
So, lets just say the Galaxy Nexus goes Verizon only in the U.S. (I don't think this will be the case, but for $hits & giggles, lets just say that's what happens)... I would assume that this Verizon version would be the LTE version of the Nexus. Ok, so since Verizon uses CMDA, I couldn't purchase one at full price from Verizon and just stick my AT&T card in it an expect it to work, could I??
So the other option (in this imaginary Verizon/U.S. only world) would be to order a over seas GSM version, use my AT&T sim card??? If so, would I need a unlock code??
Sorry for the stupid questions... just trying to get all my ducks in a row, so I know what to do when the official carrier info. is released by Samsung. This stuff just isn't my forte; usually just stick to a carrier phone, but am willing to make an exception in this case. Thanks.

Not all LTE use the same frequencies just like the GSM issue with AT&T and TMobile in the US or even among some European countries where a 3g phone from one country will only have EDGE in another country even though both are GSM/UMTS. I haven't seen anything with the LTE frequencies being used, but you can easily Google to find the Verizon versus AT&T frequency problems as many have commented on it...prior to the release of this phone that is.
Now, it may be possible for Samsung to include many/all LTE frequencies in one radio. That sure would be good for the end user.
I don't care how much it would cost either, I just hope one of the models is ported to sprint

If you were to import a GSM hspa phone, no worries. All nexus phones are unlocked. You can use any GSM carrier. Previous nexus were either T-Mobile compatible or att compatible. But it seems the Galaxy Nexus is compatible with all GSM carrier.

Seriously. I am contemplating switching to Verizon, but I just don't think that it is a good idea to switch carriers just for a phone. Guess I will just have to enjoy my E3D until the SGN comes to Sprint - if it does.

I'm in the same boat. My Sprint contract ended on Thur, my Evo's USB has broken off, so I'm in need of a new phone. I can move to Verizon - or perhaps stay with Sprint and grab a Galaxy S2 (and wait for ICS port).
Recommendations?
Thanks and Gig'em.
So this sucks.... I hate you Verizon.

Galaxy nexus prices?
So,what are the off contract prices for the galaxy nexus( in other country's)
in The Netherlands.
it will be released in December(late in my eyes) and for advice price of 649 euros!
really expensive in my eye's.
thats:
887,57 dollar.
564,76 British pound.
so im looking into a solution to import it for a cheaper price than the dutch version.
we use GSM here and that means the HSPA+ version if im right.
Pricing list:
The Netherlands- 649 Eur-887,57 USD-564,76 GBP
belsimpel.nl- 649 Eur-887,57 USD- 564,76 GBP [32GB]
MOBICITY- 605,50 Eur-810,18 USD-520,69 GBP [Pre-ORDER]
British retailer Clove-588,38 Eur-813,61 USD-514.80 GBP [16GB]
Italy-599 Eur-828,30 USD-524,10 GBP [16GB]
T-Mobile-469,34 Eur- 649 USD-410,65 GBP[unlocked 32GB][Source unknown,not 100% accurate]
I don't think very long. A month at most....just my two cents but I'm pretty sure Google WANTS the Nexus on EVERY CARRIER....
Great....I respond to the post directly above and then you edit....
It's a tablet dammit! Not a BIG phone....
In Italy the 16 GB version is going to be released in the second half on Novembre/start of December for 599€ (825$).
But I'm going to buy the 32GB unlocked T-Mobile Galaxy Nexus (that works with European networks) for about 649$ (only 470€).
**** italian prices :-D
I had been thinking of switching to Verizon for some LTE goodness, but then T-mobile had to go ahead and create a $30 no contract unlimited data/texting 100 minute plan (I never use minutes).
I can buy the phone at $600 and save more than the Verizon subsidy in under 8 months...
Gah...so torn...

[Q] Should I wait for this to come to AT&T? (If ever)

Or should I just buy it at full price unlocked. I heard an "AT&T" version passed through the FCC but 1. Is that really an AT&T version? Some people said it may be some Canadian or Australian carrier. and 2. It may just never come out anyway. I'd just be pissed if I paid $750 then it comes to AT&T and I could've saved $500. You think there's actually a chance of it coming to AT&T (this decade)? What would you do in this situation?
It probably is coming to AT&T according to the latest FCC filings. http://www.techieinsider.com/news/12988

You should be able to get a better plan if you use a unlocked phone. At least I did with t-mobile.
FWIW I talked to some guys at a corporate location and they do not think AT&T will be picking up the Nexus.
They said they've haven't heard any rumors/rumblings internally of any kind about getting it and that they've never carried a Nexus before and don't see why this one would be any different.
:/ Just relaying about inquiring about it. I went ahead and got a intl. unlock myself.
AT&T stores never carried a Nexus phone, but customers could get a subsidized Nexus S for AT&T from Best Buy.
Just grab one an enjoy. Live a little.

If you have the money I'd just buy it outright. Especially if when it comes to AT&T you'll be buying it full price anyways. You won't be saving that much and you'll be able to have the phone now, which is worth something for sure.
I don't know about later on, but AT&T definitely isn't getting this phone before the end of the year. It's all Verizon right now. So even if you're sure its coming to AT&T (who knows?) you can still buy it now knowing you're getting it months earlier.

I mean I'd buy it subsidized off AT&T and it'd probably be like $300 at most. This is a really tough decision.
I ended up using my upgrade to get an HTC Vivid for $75 then sold it for $400 and just put the $325 profit toward the Nexus. I'd say just go for it. This phone is a beast.
buy it now. save your upgrade. dont sign a contract. in 6 months+ when something better comes out, cuz you know it will, you will still have your upgrade.

The FCC doesn't approve devices for Canada and Australia.
The device that passed doesn't have the 900 Mhz, which has been causing problems on the unlocked GSM phone.. So that's one reason to wait for it. Another is if it does in fact come officially to AT&T, the price will drop significantly. Also, buying devices on the grey market is not for the faint of heart, I've got a Nexus S with the search button bug and Negri/Samsung/Google don't care because they don't have to.
In all likelihood you will see a late January/early February release of this phone and smart money is waiting
I'm on at&t as well and am waiting for one of 2 things. Either for it to come to at&t directly or for a significant price drop. I don't have a problem picking up the international version because when you turn around and sell it you'll likely get more since it can be used on any gsm carrier. The one major thing i'm waiting to find out though is if there are any plans to release a 32gb gsm version.
I didn't want to wait for the "next" big phone, so I just found the most expensive/free phone on at&t, used my upgrade to get it, then sold the phone on ebay...I picked up the HTC Titan for free at Best Buy on Cyber Monday, sold it for ~$500 and now have the Nexus Galaxy for cool $250 (what it would probably cost if it ever came to at&t).
...additionally I am selling my Nexus S and hoping to get a couple hundred and making the NG almost free.
Anyways, if you have an upgrade and don't mind the contract, just get the best deal on a phone you can sell...it's the only way I could have ever afforded my original N1, my i9020A NS and now GS.

You're actually wrong. The FCC checks all devices that could be used in the US. i9000t https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=1303821

19000T and i9100T went to Telus/Rogers in Canada and the i9250m went to Bell Canada. i9250m was the first GSN to pass the FCC and it's on sale this week exclusively from Virgin Mobile/Bell Canada.
I thought the same for rogers... paid way too much for mine. Couldn't care less... best purchase of 2011 for me personally.

The FCC reviews any device that could be used in the US.
Also, the volume "bug" is tied to 900mhz, but even if your device has the 900mhz frequency enabled in the hardware, it has nothing to do with whether or not you'll experience the bug. The problem arises when you actually use 900mhz. So even those of you who imported a GN to the US have 900mhz hardware, you're never going to use it on AT&T (850mhz) or T-mobile (1800).
I'm on AT&T and my Galaxy Nexus just arrived at my house from Expansys today.
I'm glad I went ahead and got it though it was well worth it now that I have it in my hands.

[Q] Do you want a Lumia 900? *swap*

(If I'm posting in the wrong section, my apologies)
Come March 18th, I'll be getting the Lumia 900 in NYC - Brand new and unused. Would anyone be interested in a straight trade for the Lumia 800? I would rather trade someone who already owns the Lumia 800, rather than purchase it here in the U.S. for (estimated price tag) $900, with the mandatory media bundle. I think in that case, a straight trade should suffice as acceptable, especially if you already own the Lumia 800 and are itching for the 900.
The reason I ask is because I'm afraid the size of the Lumia 900's 4.3" screen will be a tad too big for my taste. Considering I have small hands , I'm thinking I'd prefer the size of the Lumia 800. If anyone would at all be interested in such a swap, please PM me and we can keep in contact until the release of the Lumia 900 and chat then. Naturally, I'd prefer a *like new* Lumia 800 for a brand new 900.
Cheers.
I am interested... Contact me ASAP
I might be interested. If a 900 would work over here...
I do have a nokia lumia black 800 and am based in NYC, would be interested in this.
With all due respect, please understand that I would prefer to make the swap within the U.S. Only so both parties could be closer in case anything goes wrong (fake handset etc.) By no means do I think doing a swap with someone outside the country means it's going to be a fake or abused handset, I would just prefer to trade as close to in person as possible so both parties are satisfied. Or, I'd be willing to do a swap with a "Senior Member" of the Xda community (even if they live outside the U.S.). Be take this as respect rather then offense.
Cheers.

So the question arises to you only having your second post, how is one supposed to trust you? Best to keep such deals local, a lot easier with less hassle, don't trade alone, stay in a public place. Even though, their are trustworthy users here, and I myself have traded phones (look at my posts) and many others, it's for your own good.
What state you in? I'm in Wisconsin, I'd be willing to trade I'm pretty sure. I have to see if someone will trade me a N9 for my Skyrocket first though since I need a non-att phone to keep my $10 unlimited internet.
EDIT: Sorry I just noticed you said NYC in your post. That's a little far I'm guessing.

Just like me... you cannot have a smarthone w/ an AT&T IMEI. I've got the $20 Media Max plan w/ Unlimited internet. I don't recall a $10 plan ever existing, but sweet deal for you.
Last year, I did some significant downloads via tethering. I did 800GB in one month!!!

Not sure if it's the same deal, but I know ATT has a deal where you can get a $10 unlimited feature-phone data plan if you have an unlimited texting plan.
Also, good luck to the OP.
I'm also interested.. Contact me too

Yup, that's it. The unlimited data for non-smartphones is $10 if you have unlimited texting, or $15 as a standalone feature. Any smartphone that doesn't show up in AT&T's database can be used with that instead of a smartphone plan. Only downsides are that you're limited to the wap.cingular APN which gives you 3G capabilities. If you have an HSPA+ or LTE compatible phone, you'll need those data plans and their APNs to use their networks.

I've hit HSPA (not +, due to hardware) on my plan.

Technically HSPA+ and LTE were considered 3G technologies as well. Until the carriers bullied the ITU into redefining "4G". LTE-Advanced and Wimax-2 were supposed to be true 4G tech.

Dunno if you (or anyone else with the same offer) ever found someone, but I have a new black Lumia 800 (RM-801) I'd love to trade if you're willing.

AT&T responds to website about Lumia 900 SIM unlock policy

I saw that there was a lot of discussion going on in these forums about AT&T not giving a SIM unlock code for the Nokia Lumia 900. So I looked into it and got a response from their PR.
Here's the full story link http://www.windowsphonedaily.com/2012/08/att-no-sim-unlock-code-nokia-lumia-900.html If you don't want to read through that, here's what she said in response:
The Nokia Lumia 900 policy is the same as any other phone. AT&T will unlock phones for customers who fulfill all contract obligations or have paid the ETF.

Well we know that's bull****, they aren't unlocking contract free 900's. Not until Oct 8th.
Confirmed
I can confirm this. I bought a 900 from ATT the week they came out. Paid full price, called customer service, and I had an unlock code in my inbox a few days later. (I am a T-Mobile user, don't have an ATT account)
That said, the phone has started doing the "doesn't get past ATT logo" thing, so I may have to do this a second time, unless anyone knows of a fix...
Also, I have recently confirmed that the 900 WILL work on WCDMA on T-Mobile on band IV. However, the newer firmware files seem to break that. Can anyone recommend a good way to view/browse/edit the file system/registry on the device? I have a lead on what they changed to "break" it.
That's interesting, I bought mine at full price the day after it was launched and so far I have called them once every two weeks and the answer has always been "no, not yet". I will give them a call Monday and maybe I will get a better answer.

It seems like it was hit or miss. In the other thread someone who lived outside the country got one in the beginning and some got lucky. I doubt you'll get anything different from a lowlevel rep at this point. Nobody's been successful at all lately. I emailed De La Vega in June and spoke to someone in that department at length and got nowhere except call back on Oct 8, if a rep doesn't give it to you then I can get it.
Do i need a reason to give them when asking for an unlock ? i bought mine off contract too.
Right now? Nothing you can say will work. On October 8th? You'll have success saying you bought it off contract. The phone currently stands as exclusive to at&t, (I believe they mean the Magenta model but there's no way for the system to differentiate the color, so all 900's are lumped together.) and at&t will not unlock it. See the sticky.

I called AT&T today and since I am not an AT&T customer I thought that they wouldn't speak to me. I explained to the CSR that I was a Sprint customer and that I had paid full price for an AT&T branded phone to use in the UK and that I needed the unlock code. She asked for the IMEI and gave me the unlock code. It took about 3 minutes total and I didn't have to pay a penny.
Say what you will about AT&T customer service, but so far each time I have spoken to them they have been excellent both in-store and on the phone.
