[HowTo] Partly disassemble Galaxy W I8150 - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

This is not a full disassembly, maybe I will provide it later and if I really have to disassamble my Galaxy W. But it might be useful for one or the other who needs to dissamble and does not know how to start.
By disassambling the device you officially lose the warranty, so all you do is in your responsibility!

noob question, are those tools you used specific for samsung repair only or is it something you can buy off the net?
thanks

Just search for "disassembly tools" in Google. These are general tools which don't spoil the cover, because they are out of plastic.
@irishpancake: Thanks for sharing the link. That document is really useful.

The service manual, which irishpancake posted is really useful for further steps. The disassembly is described in the first 10 pages. Read also carefully the warnings in the service manual.

Hi...is there any more stuff in this compared to the manual I have linked above, just wondering, as there may be some stuff missing in my linked copy??
I didn't have time to rearrange the pdf's, so perhaps there are other files missing....
thanks for the link!!

Hellooo!
I managed to do my assignment! And I have to thank you, as always.
It has been important the manual within the passages assemblage and disassemblage of the Galaxy you have posted, in addition to the fotografic guide of the-e related to the only disassembly of the back cover.
After totally disassemblying this device , I can say that it is sufficent a little manual ability to succeed without making any mistake.
Some months ago I totally disassembled the Galaxy S, and, believe me, it's somenthing different! The Amoled display considerably complicate the thing.
The most difficult passage is just the replacing of the dispay frame because you have to remove all that is inside (mainboard etc etc.. ) including the display but what makes the procedure difficult is the pad with the soft keys, the central key and the micropohone. You have to do it very carefully because you can risk to damage the small flats that link the parts. The component is the only one and it is literaly interwoven and pasted to the display frame.
I think I must underline a very important thing: when you have to arrive to the display frame, you have to totally disassemble the block of the display. It means that you have to unglue the panel lcd from the glass of the touch...and it implies a probable difficulty to re-assembly the all things trying to avoid to leave any mark like signs of fingers or the hateful grane of dust. I have to say that I really succeed.
Good luck to everyone who is going to open the device !!

as usual, i am learning more and more by visiting the forums and checking out other posts, at the moment i would just lik eto find out where i could get other parts like the actual housing, etc, i just want to make my ancora white lol

Hey there. Could u tell me if getting rid of the screws will they really lose my warranty? I heard that the screws not covered by the stickers are safe to unscrew. The part i want to is the top part. Attached is the pic

Why do I have a green dot?

I know, not the most interesting topic, but it's been bugging me. Why do I have a green dot beside my name rather than a blue dot?
Is it because you don't like me? j/k
I figured it was some kind of new member thing (greenhorn). Maybe completely wrong, I don't know, someone tell me please.
It looks blue to me. Maybe your post just upgraded you to the next level.
Green means the user is online.....
u'll always see a green dot next to your name.
thats because its green when you are online and you got to be online to use this forum.
if still you want a blue dot, just log out ond browse the forum.
your wish fulfilled.
Hooray!
Now I feel slightly smarter. Ok, enough of that. What's important is that I look stupid to everyone else.
Hooray!
You can keep a blue dot, by changing the settings in ur profile that shows when u are online, if u so desire.
Dave
If I am logged on to a computer and no one is viewing any of my posts on any forum that I have typed, how do we know that I really have a green dot??
Might have to check it from my Phone while in the icebox checking the bulb in there when the door is closed, or would that be out in the woods where trees are falling??

Sadly, the question is: "What do you get if you multiply six by nine." At least, that's all the information we've got on the question. The readout was taken just a tad before the algorithm had been fully explored.
Sorry, but that's all I've got to show for seven and a half million years' work.
and to think all this got started cos of the green dot (scared). anyways book me up for some calculus too

The characters are exactly as they were in their original photos... Took quite a bit of time to cut out their original backgrounds. I am going back in and adding shadows to them to give a bit more depth. And the moogle (the flying dude) looks blocky because the quality of the photo I used was crap.
I'm still kinda new to Photo Shop, but learning fast. And I certainly appreciate the criticism.. Once the picture is on your phone as a wallpaper tho, doesn't look bad at all.
Keep the comments coming... Any requests and ANY constructive criticism is ALWAYS welcome

I'm sure he's referring to what I said. The wallpaper looks clearly ripped from different photos, and I can point out at least 10 specific areas that need the work. It also might help if they had shadows, might make them look like they belong in that wallpaper, rather than a cut and paste job.

Good luck!
This IS relevant to my interests. Good looking out.
Cool contest. And its good to know that there is a guy that is printing custom ones. I've had some ideas running through my head that I was wondering if they could get done.
Thanks. Entered!
Can it be done with experiences of other devices too?
Can we by any chance buy one ourselves without competing?

Yes. Visit the GRUVER concepts link in the contest. It should be available for purchase there.

This contest discriminates against people like me who read instructions properly and therefore have never had a bad flashing experience!

It can if too much power is applied. In this case no. It just etches the surface.

The most important part is not the amount of power (or pulse energy) but the pulse duration (you use pulsed lasers for this kind of stuff). If the pulse duration is shorter or almost as short as the heat transfer duration between the atoms/molecules, melting is not a problem any more.
The pulse is "gone" before the heat can effect the nearby matter. You will get really sharp edges.
To win this would be awesome but I've never had any problems flashing anything so "unfortunately" I can't enter the competition, on the other hand I'm fortunate to never had any devices bricked!
great
Thanks for sharing, just bad when i read the others and see i was the daftest lol.
i know it shuts on the 23rd (i think) but when will the winner be announced? i can imagine it may take a while to read all the entrys lol,

This is such a cool contest! I just submitted my story. Would be awesome to combine my just ordered GSM Galaxy Nexus with an XDA branded back cover!
Think you'll enjoy my short story about attempting to update my brand new Nexus One while hiding in the work bathroom and thinking I ruined the phone
Quick update for all who entered...
Just a quick update for all those who entered:
We received over a hundred contest entries, most of which were quite epic (perhaps even of the 4g variety)! Picking just 20 winners (10 GSM, 10 CDMA/LTE) was tough, so I added in 3 bonus winners who forgot to write in what type of Nexus they own, but still provided excellent stories. I will send those three an XDA-Developers T-Shirt instead.
Winners will be announced in an hour, at 11:30a Eastern time. At that point, I will shoot off PMs to the lucky few who had the most entertaining and spine-tingling stories asking for their mailing address.
Thank you to all those who participated in the contest. It's amazing how many crazy tales our mobile devices bring us!

Tried putting it together. With all my best efforts, I've failed.
Only got this far. I dunno how to build the back part.
I tried searching for it on the interwebz but to no success.
Can anyone please point me out to a tutorial on how to build this?
Extra info: My OPO doesn't come with the Cyanogenmod logo at the back (dunno if this is a good thing). And it's got ColorOS bundled (Now using temasek's).
TIA!!
Have you scanned that qr code? May be some info will be there.

Thank you very much!
How is the slot made? Is it folded inwards? If so, guess I'll have to work a bit with scissors and glue ?
Can you provide the measure of that big horizontal fold near the top, so that I could calculate its dimension (preferably in metric)? ☺
Thank you again! ?
no idea if this is right or not (dont have the dock) but it looks like it might be an opening for a "speaker"
if you look in the bottom of the slot where the phone sits, you can see that its open for the speakers.....so maybe the sound gets directed down and out the back side of the dock.....maybe?
dont have anything that I can draw, but the opening at the back might point towards the phone....so the sound kinda loops around.

[Q] (Request) Putting numbers on a watchface.

Hi I dont suppose anyone would be happy to help me finish a project i have?
Im having trouble making the missing numbers (the picture will show what i mean) for a watchface I am making.

I want the hour numbers going from 9 to 4, 4 being in red where the 8 on the rev counter is.
Could somebody if they have time, suggest a similar font, make the missing numbers or even add them to my PSD file which is uploaded to my Google drive?
The plan from there is to have the temp gauge as a battery meter and where the x1000 is I will put the date.
Once complete i will share with the community and another watch which i am finishing up which is shown here
Thanks all

I actually use paint.net (http://www.getpaint.net/). It has many nice features, pretty easy to learn, and best of all is free. I really take advantage of the layers tool and then always make sure to save a copy in their format (.pdn). Then when I'm satisfied with what I have, I copy each layer into a new image, flatten it, and save the png file.
It's nice having those separate layers. It made switching out the numbers for the bigger ones really quick.
