HTC One X for $629 at DailySteals! Just for a day! - HTC One X

Hey guys, you have to check this out - http://mobile.dailysteals.com/

Wow, I never expected DailySteals to have something so new to offer... and the shipping is only $4.99??
I just hope it's not some seller selling a fake version of it, but DailySteals is pretty good at refunding on items not matching description.

Their service is good. Phone will come brand new and stuff but it'll take a while to reach you. Shipping takes a lot of time with DS.

Yes, I agree. I bought a 32gb SanDisk Micro SD last year. Received a generic brand Micro SD instead. They offered me a full refund to return it, or keep it and receive a 50% credit. After testing the SD card, the storage was 32gb as what it claimed, so I kept it and got the 50% credit.

If it was in White, i'd have bought it.

@gwuhua1984
They're a legit company. I bought my Gnex to them last month but the shipping might, it takes 6 days before they ship it.
Hey do you think HTC one X is much better than Gnex?
if it's good I'll sell my Gnex and buy the one X.

depends if your tight on cash or anything......
It's a great phone, definitely better hardware-wise. Not sure if it justifies the cost over a Galaxy Nexus though. User experience will be fairly similar as in smooth throughout. Galaxy Nexus obv has the edge in ROMs and development, will get Jellybean sooner etc...
Battery life is worse from what I'm seeing, but camera etc...are better. Still, the camera isn't the best out there surprisingly.
Great phone if your in the market for a new one, but IMO not really justifying the switch to it from a Gnex.

is this phone worth $200?

i bought one from ebay is it worth it?could i have gotten a better one?
condition is mint no scratches or anything
hey,
i bought the phone a few month ago for about $300...
and of course you could have gooten a better one...
But here's the BIG BUT:
-when you want to have a hardfware keyboard then theres only one other phone...the desire z (about $600)
-if you dont need the keyboard then u could get the HD2 if u want it to hgave windows mobile
-or you could get the desire wich in my eyes is a high end device without any limits for now...
--->but thats all a matter of what you want to spend for a new phone...
but i can only tell you that it is a great phone i use it every day and its just great to have the keyboard...
and for that price $200 you couldnt get a better phone then this one!
just flash a cusom rom and the phone is just awesome!
nick
Not a bad price; was it a 'bid' or 'buy it now' option?
I was lucky to snag one with a bunch of accessories (including 2 batteries, 3 cables, 2 AC chargers, a spare battery cover, extra stylises, & an Otterbox) in mint condition for about $150 shipped. It was a buy-it-now sale, so I assume that I got that deal because the seller really didn't know what it was worth. The seller was changing carriers and just wanted to get rid of the phone.
Since the phone has been discontinued and the new Windows 7 phones are out, the prices are coming down quickly. I'm not ready to jump into a W7 device, so I'm happy with my purchase.
Keep reading the forums and, if you're brave about customizing it, I'm sure you'll be happy with this device, too. Enjoy!

And thank you for replying
Well, after reading this thread, I decided to buy one off ebay too. Then to see how the xdandroid stuff is working...
bought my tp2 before they hit the U.S for $600,been pleased ever since. You got one for $200,you got lucky, great buy
Was it an unlocked device? It wasn't a BAD price, really but I don't know if I would consider it a great one either. The phone is a bit on the slow side these days, but not excessively so. They are still selling new Android phones with even slower CPUs. But it's no Snapdragon either. The hardware keyboard is nice. I thought about moving to a Focus with WP7 but I really don't like the soft keyboards and I am not impressed with the Quantum.
So, yeah, not a real helpful post, but the TP2 remains one of if not the overall best WM 6 device out there. AT&T is still selling it for $199 and you would be locked into a 2 year contract for it so if you got it for $199 I suppose you did okay. Especially if, as previously mentioned, you aren't adverse to a bit of out of warranty modding and custom ROMs.

Offered a 4 day old Nexus for £300

As the thread states my friend just got a Nexus on contract and is using it to pay off his O2 contract as he already has a sim free iPhone 4S.
I can sell my GS2 for around £200-230 so just need to pay the difference to get it up to £300
Played around with it a tiny bit and it looks ok but not really sold on it however I do love the pure google experience (previous nexus one owner)
Good deal or not?
Yeah! Honestly, I got this phone yesterday and you will NOT be disappointed. The screen, the smoothness of ICS, it's just a freaking monster man. And You're only going to be paying around £70-£100 for the phone so you can't go wrong!
Edit: Just read you already own a GS2. I would not be so sure then, it depends on how desperate you are to get ICS, because once that hits the GS2 the only thing that will be to the Nexus' advantage is the screen and dev support, which is more than enough for me to go for the Nexus lol.
Decisions decisions....
Get it! and sell it me small profit for yourself
It's really a beast! Some of my favorite things are the screen, led, and the software buttons they are geinus!
Honestly, if I were you, I would wait until next year Q2 2012 when it is rumoured that quad core phones that are coming out. I'm pretty sure there are already ICS roms for the Galaxy S2 and you're getting it next year anyway from Samsung. However, I haven't had any experience with the Nexus so I can only tell you from what I think, I haven't actually compared the fluidity and smoothness of both phones.
keep your gs2 and wait.for.ice.

Good deal, go for it while you can still get that for your GS2.
I sold my GS2 for the Nexus and haven't looked back. It's just a better overall device and probably one of the coolest gadgets I've owned.

Gotta agree. There are a few users here that I see post the same useless drivel. Makes ya wonder.
Anyway, like I said before, go for it. You won't be disappointed.
Side note: The touch screen buttons have just made other Android devices look antiquated.
I am pretty sure I will if my friend doesn't decide to keep it.
£300 is not a great deal considering a brand new one sells for around £428.79. If you do not like it, you should be able to sell it for more than £300.

nice signature. lol.
It kind of depends. Since you already have a GS2 it's not really an upgrade but a lateral move from one phone to the next. The GN2 will definitely outlive the GS2 as far as official updates and dev support is concerned, but the GS2 already has plenty dev support right now and will likely have it for as long as you own/use the phone. The screen on the GN is way better, the processor is just as good, the GPU and camera on the GS2 are the only real advantages so it pretty much evens out in my book. It really is going to come down to personal preference. The reason I jumped to the nexus line was because I was a Vibrant owner and never saw a froyo update on my phone while Samsung promised and promised. The dev community and custom gone were the only things keeping me happy with my phone. About a week after the Nexus S was released I walked into a Best Buy and put my phone running a custom froyo rom with an overclocked processor up against a bone stock display model and the display model Nexus won every battle. I bought the phone a few days later and haven't looked back since. Now there are a few caveats to the story, one being that I had a variant of the GS and that Samsung had indeed finished the froyo update about two months before the release of the Nexus S (just not for the American variants) but at the end of the day, the Nexus S is going to receive an official update of ICS and the GS isn't despite them having nearly all the same hardware components. The devs are still there and they will give the phone a proper update but it would be easier with an official kernel to play with. Just my thoughts. Personally I'd go with the GN unless you plan on playing multiple high end games that require you to have a better GPU.

The stock google experience is swaying it for me right now and it looks like I will have to pay a minimum of £80 to £100 + selling my GS2.
Will see my mate on Thursday and take it from there and will let everyone know if I suddenly become a GN owner
My wife said no I cannot trade so I said it's an christmas present to myself so may have to sweeten her up a bit haha

Actually its a very very good deal. Its 429 + vat which is more like £520. Also considering its from his friend and not some random stranger he can be pretty sure there's not some weird fault with it or something dodgy. Its pretty close to having a brand new phone with £220 off
Personally for around £100 I would probably upgrade. I agree with other posts its more of a lateral move, but the SGS2 is soooo common now, especially in the UK, and its coming up to a year old soon. The Galaxy Nexus will stay 'new' for a while. Also remember the GN resolution is the native resolution for ICS and what it was designed for. Although other phones with lower resolutions will also get ICS i'm sure there'll be some compromises somewhere.
Anyway its all opinion, but for me i'm slightly for the GN. BTW I upgraded from a N1 to a Galaxy Nexus, and my only experience of a SGS2 is 5 minutes with my friends one at the pub.
Interesting as o2 would let me pay off my remaining 2 months of my contract so i could get the galaxy nexus earlier.
They told me they do not allow this anymore and for that they have lost a customer, they never even tried to do me a deal.
I pay £41 a month for unlimited everything on my new contract which would mean i will pay £984 over the 24 month contract.
Hes going to be well out of pocket once he pays off his contract is o2 let him.
Text my mate to say I am going for the GN so now it's just down to when I go and get some cash for my phone and when I get to see him next.
Good timing as well as he was considering selling it tomorrow!
I bought a galaxy nexus and returned to my s2...
Only the screen is better on this phone and the new os, everything else isnt worth spendig money on it...

It's costing my friend around £200 to pay off O2 and he managed to get the GN for FREE on 12 months at vodafone so he will actually make around £100 from this and will also be on a 12 month agreement not 18-24 months.
On o2 he pays £37-38 a month and Vodafone will be £41 a month so makes sense really for him to sell it and for me to buy it lol

Thinking about getting rid of the ol' A100

I'm one of those guys that churns a lot--I always need something new to tinker/tweak-- so the lack of CWM (and ROMS by proxy) on our tabs is getting to me.
Anyway, I'll probably be putting it up on eBay and Craigslist soon. What should I ask for it?
-8gb A100 in perfect condition (and with original packaging)
- the Blurex leather case on Amazon (and as seen in the Accessories sub-forum)
- an HDMI-to-mini hdmi cable
- a 32gb micro SD.
Think I could get $300 for that package?
Should I wait 'til Acer updates it to ICS?
I think you will probably have to go lower but you can always list it at that price first specially on Craigslist cause they ALWAYS try to haggle pricing. As far as price standpoint the acer can be had for $249 at best buy, sears, and kmart online. I'm sure stores are the same. 32gb I've see go as low as $29 online. HDMI cable can be had for $10 at amazon for a 15 footer. Cases can be had for $10-20 on amazon as well.
so 249+29+10 or 20 = 290 or 300 (all new)
For the most part most dont really consider tax unless you point that out.
Damn, you're right--when'd they drop to $250 in stores??
I might just have to keep the thing.

I know it sux. I myself ended up returning the one I bought from frys black friday which cost me $275 (250+tax) and ended up buying one on craigslist for $250 just to save $25 so I wont lose so much later when I sell it. But you never know, you could get lucky and someone might not even know theyre going for 250 now.
Also at this time I don't know of any other 7 inch tablet that can compete with the a100 including its price point besides on battery life. What other tablet were you considering?

For a similar price range hes probably has to settle for a Flyer. Which I read is a great device even on single core since its running at 1.5ghtz and has custom roms and great battery life. But may not see ICS and might not multitask as well as dual core.
Oh, no other tablet on the market can touch the A100.
I just find myself reaching for my HTC Desire when I want to fritter away some time and figured I might see if I could get some money back for now and see how the tablet market looks in a year or two.

You probably won't find a lot of ROM work right now on many devices as ICS is a short time away. A lot of devs are not using the time to work a ROM for HC only to turn around and re-work for ICS.
I had an A100 for about two weeks and truly liked the device. Returned it due to battery life, minimal internal storage and IMO very challenging viewing angles.
Got the Samsung Tab 7.0+ and must say it rocks! No ROMs yet but root and CWM available. Pricey, yes. But on track for ICS and the specs are excellent. Best 7" tab available right now IMO. But only till the Samsung 7.7 releases. The Super AMOLED display is killer from what I hear.
Just curious, where are you getting this tablet in the US for anything less then $330? BB has no stock and will not NOT let you order online. They show no date for inventory either. Amazon is the only place I found for this and the price has fluctuated in the last week between, get ready, $460 and $330. It is now at $330. Everywhere else online I try says out of stock. This tablet sells for more then its bigger brother a500.

BestBuy currently shows $249 "in stock" at my nearest store, 92691 zip code. (Out of curiosity, last week it showed in stock at multiple area stores at that price, so I guess they do move pretty quick.)
Of course, I bought mine on Black Friday for $189, getting there late morning without much of a crowd nor long lines. In fact, I went in thinking about a $200 deal on a Blackberry Playbook or Kindle Fire, but seeing the A100 for ten bucks less was a no-brainer.

Sorry man, I'm in the mid-west and not really looking to part it out (I think it makes the most sense to sell it as a package).
Mods: I really just posted this to gather information--if this has crossed the line into 'advertising,' don't hesitate to move it to the XDA Market section (or just delete it).

I've seen them go in and out of stock at local Walmarts and BestBuys for the $250 price. If some one really wanted one, a little bit of daily checking stock and willingness to drive could probably get one for $250.
You can also try craigslist.
Got mine at Microcenter in Cincinnati for $229, minus $100 gift card, $129 out the door. Best purchase of the year.

I would go for it (well, obviously I would say that as I have pre-ordered it!)
However, the only issue for me has been battery life but with mobile chargers I decided that wouldn't be an issue. If you are not fussed about getting it on release, you could simply wait for the S3 announcement and decide between the two - although the One X camera will be hard to beat imo - the features anyway.
I've "registered my interest" with Vodafone. They're going to call me when it's available. Hopefully I'm one of the 1st in the queue.
not due for an upgrade until mid May, so I'm going to hold out to see if any major issues appear before I either upgrade or jump ship to another provider.
about 98% sure I will be getting one though
I think the options of the poll don't cover everything, my selection would be:
No, but considering to pre-order very soon...
I'm not 100% sure what is stopping me... I'd like to see an official announcement about beats, I'd be interested to know if the deluxe set would be released in UK, I'd like to know for sure what the final price would be (I'm going to be purchasing phone sim free).
I'm also changing companies in 5 months time and maybe they have different policies on phones so maybe I should wait... but then I could always sell it...
Also when I bought my HTC Desire maybe 6 months later they announced the Desire HD, so part of me also wonders if a new flagship will be released in 6 months time and maybe I should wait as I'm not in desperate need of a new phone... but on the other hand I cant think of anything that I need that isn't on the HTC One X and if I did buy it then I plan on it being my phone for the next 2 years.
The HTC One X looks good, I would really like to get back to Android sooner or later (WP7 is not for me...), I really want a HTC phone so GS3 is not an option for me.
So I'm more than likely going to pre-order I just haven't hit the submit button yet...

I use clove.uk. Handtec is good as well although they take your money upfront and lie about when it will be released. There is no tax. Clove.uk will send DHL for a minimal rate. Prices are very similar. There are other options as well.
I purchased from eBay on a pre-order auction from a reputable seller. The reason I did this is because I had a 10 percent off coupon for the electronics category. I ended up getting a black one out the door for 656 including shipping.
Suddenly I am interested in the S3, if the March 30th event is to be believed..
Still got my One X on pre-order - would anyone cancel and swap to the S3 if it is good enough?
Yes, the grey version!
I find it hard to wait for 2 weeks. Im looking forward
till the first real reviews!
Yeah!
i pre-ordered it on CLOVE TECHNOLOGY in UK (grey version) and is more cheapest than other sites
In Netherlands the price is already as low as € 545 excluding shipping. I wonder what price does after the release? I really want it. I think even though high price it must be worth. Ofcourse when waiting the price will go down, but keeping mine evo 3d until the price is dropped by like maybe € 100 then mine Evo 3D would be dropped in price even more.

Still got my One X on pre-order - would anyone cancel and swap to the S3 if it is good enough?

Meh... I prefer HTC, but it isn't that simple. The GS2 produced arguably one of the best dev communities ever. That phone was spec'd out like a beast too. While I don't believe it was/is the end all be all, it deserves a lot of the attention it gets. Samsung put a lot of good hardware in, and they also ship their phones with unlocked bootloaders. Unlike HTC that is becoming less and less dev friendly...

Unlocked GSM GN Now $349 from Play Store

http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/27/3120987/galaxy-nexus-hspa-unlocked-price-drop-349
Figures not even 1 week after I purchased it they lowered the price. Hopefully they'll do the right thing and credit me the difference, including taxes..
Gnex was the worst investment ever. Price has dropped to half what it was, I don't think that's ever happened before for any phone. I love the phone, but the crazy price drop is annoying.

Yeah, it sucks to be on our end when we bought it brand new first week of release, but hopefully this is a sign to come. Imagine if Google had 4 Nexus devices on the play store ranging from $299 to $499 or even $599. That would be great for Android and it would stick it to the stupid American carriers that keep pushing way over priced plans with subsidized "super phones". I really hope Google continues on the push for cheap unlocked nexus devices :good:
I'm really tempted to pick one up at that price (along with the Nexus Tab down the line), but between the Meizu 4-core and the GS3, it's a tough choice...I love the size/look of the Meizu the best of the three and the power/features are nice (but support for it will basically be dead outside of Meizu themselves), the GS3 undoubtedly will have the best combination of specs and development (but the design is ugly IMO, I hate Touchwiz, and I'd rather use a 7" tablet as a phone than have a 4.8" phone), and the Galaxy Nexus looks nice especially without buttons on the face and will always have the newest/fastest updates (but the specs aren't the best and I don't hear good things about the battery life).
I know this is obviously the GN forum and people don't want to say anything bad about their device...but are there any major problems the device suffers from (or is prone to)? Is the battery life as bad as some say?

Consumer electronics are not investments.

For my use... I can easily do 12.5h with 4.5h screen on time... it depends on how you use the device and how you tweak it. Some rom/kernel combos work really nice. Also if I know I'm going to be on a full day + without ability to recharge I'll pre-emptively do things like kill syncing and set to dim brightness and such.
The main complaint I think is the 'banding'/graininess on white backgrounds at low brightness levels, and some purple looking blacks - but both can be tweaked as well (use higher brightness or gamma corrections with some custom kernels).

Usually when u buy a high end device the value holds for a while and doesn't drop nearly as much as the gnex did. For example, the iPhone 4s or unlocked galaxy s 2 have held their values for quite a while. Great comment though, you're a genius.

Lol, did any one think that Google wants this phone to be cheap, so cheap that buying of contract in the states looks so good

Google is trying to get the US to do prepaid, apparently.
$350 phone + $45 a month with Straight Talk or $30 a month on T-Mobile monthly 4G > cheap phone, but $90 a month with a postpaid plan.

you should buy a iphone 4s to make yourself feel better about the resale value

Pulled the trigger
If only it had a really good camera like ip4s, I could get this for my wife because $349 is a crazy good deal.
I bought a Galaxy Nexus 6 days ago from the play store. I just called them and they are refunding me the difference between the old price and new price. No arguing, very easy to do, they have a policy that deals with this. Here it is, taken from the email they sent me to start the refund process.
"When we offer a price reduction for an item you’ve purchased from Devices on Google Play, we’ll refund the difference in price if your purchase occurred within 15 days of the price reduction.
To receive a refund for the difference in price you must fill out our Devices on Google Play Price Protection form at...."

It does. Instead of enjoying your phone you're complaining the price dropped too fast. Just deal with it. Lots of people paid extra to have the device early. That's just how it is. I have absolutely no regrets that I bought mine 5 months ago for $550... just how it is.

How long did it take for that email to show up? I was literally watching the stream when UPS delivered my Galaxy Nexus... a gentleman at Google promised to email me information about the refund, but it's been almost 30min
