[Q] Link2SD in Stock rom: - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 General

hello everyone
Some background first
i have tried loads of custom roms but i was experiencing one problem or another with each and not one was totally bug free ... i went back to stock.
i have also installed and tried many versions of Merruk kernal as well as the therma rom kernel and therma rom had the bootloop issue on stock roms
merruk kernel was giving me problems while using titanium backup etc...
so... long story short , i am on stock XXLA4 from Doky and want to know what i can do to remove the mount warning in link2sd on cold boot ?
Either i install a custom kernel that is bug free.. can run all apps without problems and support mounting of link2sd partition on boot ....
Or i do something to the stock to make link2sd work ?
Thanks for reading all this

I can run link2sd with stock kernel. It required only root n ext partiton. In your case just re-partition back your sdcard and install link2sd app.Remember if your ext partition is not empty during fresh link2sd installation then u will encounter the mount warning.

follow the sd card prep properly from here and you will be fine

[Q] Superwipe?

Hi,
I'm helping out a friend with his WFS to unlock, install clockwork and root the phone, so far i've done this successfully which isn't to bad for me!!! I've now come to flashing a custom rom and what i want to know is how do i get a fresh install from rom to rom as i try them?
I've read about a superwipe then flash a rom so everything is clean but after doing a seach on here i can't find a wipe zip file for the WFS?
Also when i install a custom rom i seem to have a very low internal memory left, as low as 35mb?!!
can anyone assist please?
Thanks
You just have to remember 3 wipes in clockwork mod (CWM) before flashing a new rom.
1.data/factory reset
2.cache partition
3.dalvik (in advance)
Thanks for that, found them all in CWM.
I've re flashed this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432259
After i do the initial set up of the phone im only getting 48mb of internal storage free, is this normal or a bit low? I've partitioned the sd card and running link2sd so overall space will be ok, but just think the internal is a little low?
Thanks
The link is not working for some reason.
If its a sense based rom I have read many people having the same issue.
Why not try cm7.2 cyanogen by alquez.
I've been using it for months now and find it by far the best.
Its fast, stable and good on battery too.
No going back to sense for me.

[Q] Flashing a rom without ful data wipe with Data2SD

Hello guys..
Sorry if this question was already asked but i couldn't find it anywhere..
Im having CM9 - i think alpha 3 - rom on my WFS. Yesterday i read that i can flash the new update without doing a data wipe.
That made me happy so i was backing up my rom and flashed the new one just with Dalvik-cache Wipe ..
But the problem was that i was using Data2SD on the Alpha3.. When i started the new rom the apps which were on the sd-ext partition were gone.
And if i flashed the A2SD Killer and the Data2SD installer it lead into a bootloop.
So my question is if i have to do something special because of my Data2SD..
or if im just to dumb to do it on my own -.-' ..
Damn sorry.. x(
I just saw that there is a Data2SD Reinstaller. I will try this one ..
Grrr xD..
-- Edit:
It ended in a Bootloop again .. ;/
Seems like i need help..
Not sure if u can do that. But however, try installing the same data2SD installer and restoring the sd-ext from nandroid back up if u made one.
It's in cwm5.0.2.8 backup and restore --->advanced restore
But I think u not need to restore as simple installation of data2sd may work. Not sure tho.
So if i understood you right:
1. Wipe Dalvik-cache
2. Flash new Rom
3. A2SD Killer
4. Data2Sd installer
5. sd-ext restore
6. reboot
I will give it a try
-- Edit
Thank you verys much !!
It is working now.. i did like i wrote in my post !
Awesome ..

Flashing the WildfireS is a nightmare!

Hey guys, I'll cut to the chase.
My girlfriend's HTC Wildfire S is a nightmare to work with! I have tried many different ROMs, including Marvel 4.2.1 CM10.1, Jelly King and CM10 and I simply screw up the phone every single time!
I have attempted to partition the SD Card using MiniTool Partition (it is a 2GB card), into 2, 1GB partitions, and then installed INT2EXT4+, but I'm always confused about the settings in Recovery. Selecting advanced->Partition SD Card is always a guess and check method. Do I even need to do this? I usually never get the space in my internal the way I expect it. Its literally random on whether I get proper internal space. Sometimes, the second partition disappears and the ROM doesn't even know it exists!
I usually follow the instructions found on CM10 thread:
Download INT2EXT4+
Put the zip into the root of your SD Card: /storage/sdcard0
Flash the ROM
Flash the INT2EX4+.zip file
Reboot
Boot into Recovery again
Flash the GApps
Reboot again
Click to collapse
The main problem is, GApps never flashes properly, meaning it flashes, but never appears in the ROM! The only way I can get GApps to work is if I flash the Cache version of the GApps, which causes huge problems with apps, and internal space, and not only that, every time I flash the GApps on the Cache Partition, I lose all my settings.
I ask that someone give me an exact method to properly partition, flash the ROM and flash GApps, such that I can always update the ROM without having to lose all my settings/apps every time. I would also like to know how I can back up my settings (including app placements in the Launcher, such that I can restore the backup).

Did you make total wipe and format? Try the gaps from jellyking thread. It works 100% and try the script from that its better and faster then int2ext

Just an update, I preformed the following tasks in this order:
1 Using CWM, I factory wiped everything
2 Parittioned the SDcard to 1GB and 256MB swap
2 Mounted the SDcard in CWM and transferred over JellyKing 1.3 and a2sdx
3 Flashed JellyKing, then a2sdx
4 Booted the phone, and restored the google account
5 Checked the internal memory, made sure it was what I expected, then install my old apps in Google Play.
Seems to work quite well, I posted a few issues I had with Jelly King in particular in this thread:

You can use Titanium Backup from Play Store for your backups.
I never had any problem with cache gapps ... working like a charm... But I really advice you not to update your ROM by flashing the zip over the ROM : personally I prefer making a full backup and restoring after the flash it is really safer and cleaner !

Titanium Backup files get wiped when I format my SD card. There is no point. I simply use the Google recovery to get my apps and data back... its substantial enough.

If you read carefully the tutorials about how to format your SD card, they all tell you that this process erases the SD card, and all advice you to make a full backup before formatting. After that, if you don't follow the instructions...

[Q] Problems and questions before rooting my HTC Desire

Hey all! I am a beginner and i want to root my HTC Desire to install VJ CM10.1 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Custom Rom. But i am having issues understanding some things before rooting. I am going for Unrevoked to root and flash CMW on my Desire. And then backup the stock Rom with CMW. I am having these issues:
1. The download link for the custom rom (VJ CM10.1 JB 4.2.2) of HTC Desire on this site
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070704 gives two option for download. One is for 'Stock Hboot version' and the other is 'Sense/Data++'. How do i know if i have stock or sense/data++. Cause holding down volume and power button will only show the Hboot version e.g 0.75 or something. How do i know that i need my custom rom for stock or sense/data++? PS what is sense and data++?
2. Before flashing the custom rom i will backup my stock rom with CWM. And i think it would backup on the sd card? But after backing up when i will go for partitioning the sd card to have more internal memory and then install my VJ custom rom it will also delete my stock rom backup? right? So how do i store my stock rom backup before partitioning and formatting the sd card and then bring it back on the sd card to be later accessible by CWM?
3. If i will partition the sd card and run the a2sd script to move my apps to sd card, in which partition would it move to? And out of the two which partition would be available for me to use for like music, videos etc.
Any help would be highly appreciated! I am stuck on these issues

1. You have stock hboot. You have to change it to have anything else except the stock one. You haven't changed it, and won't be able to, due to being s-on.
2. After CWM is installed, do a backup, then boot back in the stock ROM, connect your phone to your pc, and move your backup from your sd to your pc (backup folder: clockworkmod/backup)
3. You clearly don't fully know how partitioning works. Check the guide in my sig. It explains a lot.
You solved it!
Thanx alot man! You solved my problem! Just one more qs. I read your full guide about partitioning the sd card and now is clear with everything. But there is one thing still troubling me. For suppose if i partition it with your guide ext3 or ext4 type whatever. Then if i partition my 4 gb card to 2048mb, a second partition of 2gb would be created as an internal memory? And the rest 2gb would be the first partition to be used as a normal sd card with default android folders? right?
Yep. The rest will remain FAT32 so it will act just like the SD did before.

Thanks man!

Thanks alot! Now I am clear with everything!
The hoot defines how the internal memory is partitioned. A portion is set aside for the system, boot, user and I have probably forgotten one.
I have not run VJ's rom in a few months but I believe 1.5GB is the recommended maximum sd-ext partition for stability reasons on roms using a2sd.

[Q] apps not working after reboot(int2ext+)

i m facing serious issue of apps .... no makrket installed apps is able to run after reboot or shut down ..i m using stock wildfire s rom with cronmod int2ext+ patch ..... kindly help me if u knw the solution
You do have some custom kernel(or at least stock one, but with enabled init.d), do you ?
i have stock zip rom which is rooted as default .... int2ext+ shows memory is increased but apps are are not responding after reboot
You need to flash any custom kernel(cake kernel would be the best for GB).
