[Q] home buttons not working - Acer Iconia Tab A100

Hi guys. I screwed up my tablet yesterday by replacing my original ICS build.prop with a custom one for my g-tablet(by mistake of course).
I fixed the boot loop by reflashing but now, none of the home buttons work and my tablet cannot be locked. And to top it off, whenever I try to create a vpn it asks me for a credential storage password which I haven't set.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated guys.

Can you go into recovery? I would do a factory reset, and wipe/format /system and dalvik prior to retrying rom install. If all else fails, download the stock ICS rom, rename to update.zip put it in the SDCARD (can't remember which, so put it on both /sdcard, /mnt/sd_external ) and reboot into recovery, should flash it automatically.
At least that's the way I would go about it.

also when going into nandroid to restore it says
"sd-ext.img not found skipping restore of /sd-ext."
I had a similar issue when I first flashed a ROM. What version of what recovery are you using? Is it clockworkmod or RA? You will probably need to flash a new PC36IMG.zip file to get it back up and running. I used the unrooted version found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045
Then I re-rooted with unrevoked, and proceeded to reflash the ROM. If you are using clockworkmod, you need to change to RA, and if you are using an older version of RA you need to update. Let me know what you're using, and I'll try to help.

yes im using clockworkmod and how can i sync my phone with my comp to flash the pc36img.zip .?
You'll have to do it while in recovery. Pull the battery on the phone, and put it back in. Hold donw the volume down button on the side while you hold down the power button. This will boot the phone into the bootloader. After a few seconds it will scan for some files, just ignore that. Once it scans, you can move your sleection by using the volume down button. Move your selection to recovery, and push the power button to select it. Then you'll see the recovery screen come up. In one of the menus there is a selection for mass storage, or something like that. When you toggle that on, you can use your phone like a disk drive, and just drop the PC36IMG.zip file in the folder.
ok fter i do that what should i do
again thank you so much for your help
in clockwork recovery you will have
-reboot system now
-apply sdcard:update.zip
-wipe data/ factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-nandroid
-partition menu
- advanced
**You want to select partition menu**
Partition menu gives you thes options:
mount/data
unmount/ cache
mount/ sdcard
format system'format data
format cache
format boot
mount USB storage
**Now plug your phone into your computer and select mount USB Storage**
ok so in the exact order after i put the file on my sd card
In order to install the update, follow the steps below. This will erase everything you had stored in your phone, and set it back to how it was when you got it from the factory. Once you drop the new PC36IMG.zip file onto the phone, shut the phone off. If there's no menu option, then pull the battery. Then power the phone into bootloader again. It should scan for the same files, and this time find the one you put in there. When this happens a blue bar will show up on the right side. When the bar finishes, it will ask if you want to update with the new file. Say yes, and let it finish. It will probably restart once during the update, so don't freak. When it's all done it will ask if you want to reboot. Say yes. Now it will be back to stock. If you want to try to flash again, re-root using enrevoked. When that's done, isntall ROM Manager from the market. When that's installed, open it. At the bottom of the screen should be a selection for flash an alternate recovery (Amon RA), if it's higher than version 1.8, then install it and you're good to go. Clockworkmod has a lot of issues.
Did it work out for you?
yes thank you so much I got my phone up and running

[Q] Having trouble flashing the radio on CM7

Hi,
I recently installed CM7 on my phone. I want to flash the radio, and I've looked over the entire forum.
It says reboot into recovery, and update from zip on sd card.
The problem I am having, is that it doesnt say this.
I reboot into recovery, get the red triangle, get passed it by pressing up and power. And then get to the menu that says
Android system recovery <2e>
Reboot system now
Apply sdcard:update.zip
Wipe data
Wipe Cache.
I tried renaming this file: signed_Froyo_Slide_Radio.zip as update, but that doesnt work either.
Am I supposed to wipe the data and cache first?
I've also tried rebooting into recovery from clockwork and that fails as well.
What am I doing wrong?
Is there a tutorial I can find that will help? The oddest thing is I thought rooting/installing cm7 would have been hard, but that turned out to be easier than what I thought would be the easiet thing of the bunch to do.
Any help will be appreciated, i have looked all over, but I'm sorry if this was answered already.
going off my bare knowledge of the MT3GS that i help my sister do..
i thought the steps was..
1)reboot into "recovery"
2)red triangle screen
3)press VOL+ and POWER to get to the "temp recovery menu"
4)Apply sdcard:update.zip
5)should boot into a CWM recovery
((i thought it was CWM recovery that was the update.zip file in your SD card..))
it is in this CWM recovery where you select to flash the zip'ed radio.
***
i could be wrong and if i am hopefully someone can correct me/ point me and the OP in the right direction to flash radio as i want to do this for my sister's MT3GS soon as well.
I just tried that. Unfortunately, all it did was install the update.zip and then ask to reboot the phone.
Thank you for your help though.
The process is very similar to what jt.one described but first you need to obtain a update.zip version of CWM recovery. You should be able to get one through Rom Manager (found on Google Play). Once in CWM you should have an option for exploring your SD Card and flashing your ZIP file of choice
Finally got it to work, so here is what I did in case anyone wants a heads up.
First thing I did was format the sd card (i have a special card for doing crap like this)
Put the espimg.zip, and the radio zip on the sd.
I went into Rom Manager on my phone, i hit <Flash Clockworkmod Recovery>
and then <Reboot into Recovery>.
It then for some odd reason, finally gave me the correct menu to install zip from sd.
This time, the process was also different. Instead of selecting things with the power button, I had to select things with the middle button. (hitting the power button just turned off the screen)
So after going through the menu's and finding the update, I installed it, which took literally seconds.
Now everything is up and running. I am by no means any type of specialist or even remotely knowledgeable other than after I get some hands on experience, but if anyone else is having problems, maybe I can try to help you, since I had such a hard time.
Thanks again to jt.one and WhoWhere for their help and support.

[Q] Root failed halfway through, now HTC One X continually reboots

I really hope someone can help me.
I tried to root my HTC One X a few days ago but it failed (don't know why) halfway through. It now continually reboots. I've gone into recovery and hit restore, wiped caches and factory reset but it's still doing it. I only have Jelly Bean on my OS card because I was trying to install that too. That just sits on the boot screen though. I even tried opening the phone to manually put the SD card in my computer to put a different update on it but there didn't seem to be an obvious SD card. It's a brick at the moment, can anyone help, please?
Hold the power button and the volume - button together as long as it takes to get into the bootloader. Once there you flash the boot.img from the new rom with fastboot commands
After that you enter the recovery and make a FULL wipe and install the rom
Ow and you can mount the sdcard as an usb diskdrive inside the recovery !

[Q] Ascend P6 Bootloop

Hello all.
I know this has been asked a gazillion of times, but the solutions I can find, are not working for me.
I rooted my phones yesterday, for the first time and all went great. I got reverse tether to work etc etc.
I installed a few apps, and they all worked.
Then i installed Xposed framework, and it got me into a bootloop.
I tried flashing the recovery_original_flashable.img from another thread and this went perfect, but it still is in the bootloop. I can get into recovery, but it does nothing. It just lets me wipe cache and or do a factory reset and those both have no effect whatsoever.
I know I might be doing something wrong, can anyone help me?
And sorry if I am just forgetting one step in all of this.
Thanks in advance
pmbMixx
EDIT:
I got the stock rom ready, yet, I cannot exit my SD card to copy the update.app file. This is due to a drop a year back, it is bend at the sd card slot and when I use a little needle to make it come up it tries to push the whole sidepanel off, I tried connecting to fastboot and using ADB push command to drop the file there, but it does not see my device.
How to move on?

Since you cant remove the sdcard and you are on stock recovery i would first suggest that you flash twrp recovery in order to get to the sdcard. Once you can boot to twrp you can mount the storage on your computer and from there copy the update.app file you need to install a fresh copy of the system. When thats done you can flash back the stock recovery and update normaly.

Got it on there now,
Flashed the stock recovery back
Reboot into recovery->Error -> E:failed to mount.
What now? Thanks for the help in advance!
Edit:
Ok, I have gotten it to mount at least one time, but it will not run the UPDATE.APP, not with booting with VOL - and + pressed, not with VOL+ pressed nor with VOL - pressed.
I can enter the SD card, but after going in into the folders and going back it disconnects the SD card and it is failed to mount again.

So you are on the stock recovery with the update.app file place in a dload folder in your sdcard and it cant start the update process?

Correct.
I went on trying some things, and it would not update back to the stock rom. I tried flashing TWDR (right?) and that worked, and after that I tried flasing the Cyanogen mod rom, and its working again. Although I must say, its buggy as frack.
for example: Camera wont show, it opens app but then keeps showing homescreen with a gray overlay, and when pressing the power button, it wont ever show me a menu to restart or shutdown etc.
Anyone using a rom on the P6 that does not have this problem?
Summary: I can flash custom roms, I cant flash stock roms for some reason...

you may want to flash your phone back. so this consist of
1) read up how to access to Temp CWM
2) download and transfer the full rom to your SD card
3) do a wipe all partition and go to advanced setting, wipe cache
4) install zip and choose from external SD, point to that .zip file for the full rom and apply.
5) installation may take 10min or so do not switch it off. after installation you are good as new.
I believe this should solve your problem, normal if things get bricked is due to config file error could be [syntax, corrupted, missing, setting].
Flashing should solve mostly of it unless the file that you previously accessed require root and cwm does not give permission to the file. that is a permanent bricking.
As always, newbie should not try tweaking permission required files, you end up having bricking the device as there might be no solution to recover it due to access rights. ALWAYS have a back up file so you can at least copy the file back and chmod it.

here is the stock firmware.
https://www.asus.com/Phones/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML/HelpDesk_Download/
its fine if your phone does not talk to your PC now. copy the firmware to your SD card via other means. [card reader etc]
then try my method of flashing it back to original state, you stated that adb dont work, have you tried the temp CWM method yet?
the main goal is to wipe dalvik cache under advanced menu in CWM, and cache partition and all hard reset.
then you flash back your original file.
hope it works for you.

ive read about the temp cmw method and i cant figure out how to go about it. it says on the instruction that you need to turn on phone before running the cai_dat_CWM. how am i going to do this as my phone will only boot to the asus logo? thanks
just figured it out. I need to boot in fastboot so the phone will get recognized. However, the latest build available on the asus website is still 2.17.40.12. I already have the 2.18.40.12 version. The 2.17 firmware can't overwrite the newer build in temp CWM recovery. Anybody knows where i can download the full rom? Z00A-WW-2.18.40.12?
