Get the Evo LTE, the GSIII may only be offered as a dual core here in the States. And reason I say Evo aside from the similar specs, is because its not a totally plastic phone.

Back to the OP's actual question, do we know if Sprint is definitely getting this phone? And even if it does, would it likely be way after other carriers, like with the Nexus?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA

I think it will go to Verizon.
And I don't think any quad core phones are going to be coming to the states any time soon, as they don't work on LTE.
Honestly I am going to get the EVO LTE, despite the alluring fact that the SIII even without the quad core will likely be the most "open" phone if it does come with an Exynos processor... Not to mention HTC's bootloader issue right now... http://goo.gl/3T4NK

I would bet on that too, regarding Verizon. I just find it funny that everyone is waiting for a phone that may not even come to Sprint. Or at least not initially.
Regarding development, I'm with you, I'm getting the EVO regardless. It just looks so sweet. And it's an EVO...
I heard LTE chips that are quad core are being worked on for a Q3 release. But that means that the SIII won't get it, unless it is REALLY delayed! Maybe the Galaxy SIV...

Sprint and Samsung are now partners, vzw didn't get any version at all of the sgs2 and Samsung has a quadcore exynos with let on the SoC. So i would expect sprint will be getting a gs3 by the end of the year if not sooner, as Samsung is looking to do a worldwide drop all at once this time around. If it will be quad or dual core is something to wait to be seen but if the new exynos is ready by the time the phone is in production for sprint I'd bet that it will be the quadcore SoC with LTE on board

New Galaxy Nexus running 1.5GHz CPU.

As title.
WTF?
http://phandroid.com/2012/01/05/spr...up-in-cnet-ad-is-this-their-ces-announcement/
Probably a different CPU like the Galaxy S II on T-Mobile. If you check out franco's thread in the DEV section, there is a pretty good discussion of how difficult it is to get to 1.5ghz.
considering our processor is 1.5 native its not that hard to believe. But then this means your battery life is gonna be even worse with lte and a native clocked processor

Binning. Samsung couldn't get enough good yields on 1.5GHz, so they shipped it at 1.2. You may be lucky to get one capable of 1.5, but they are only guaranteed for 1.2.

can't understand why they try to push 1.4 or 1.5GHz with the same current the phone use for 1.2GHz.
Obviously greater freq need greater voltages.
I've lost all faith in Sprint. I just left after the past 8 months of horrible service. Interesting how they would make hardware changes like that to a nexus. I can see radio changes, wimax, LTE, GSM, but not the processor.
I bet its typo. Sprint did the same thing with the EVO 3D. They advertised it as taking 3D video at 1080p and that wasn't true. Something like that.
My Quesada would be typo. It wouldn't be the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last time.

I would bet it is a different chipset or Samsung figured out howbto get 1.5ghz working. I think its probably a qualcomm chipset though. Might be 32nm too.

Looks like Sprint is trying really hard to keep its customers. Why advertise "the first Sprint LTE phone" when they don't even have an LTE network yet?
Really, I don't feel jealous at all for other carriers to have this phone too, because it'll be outdated in couple months anyway....So I'll just enjoy my Gnex while it's still on top.
What is the world coming to when there is fragmentation in the Nexus. Radios are one thing but CPU and/or GPU would surprise me. Either way, I would bet the real world performance boost would be negligible. Now if they stuffed it with the guts from the Epic Touch 4G, that would be impressive.

napoleon much?
I'd rather under clock my gnex. I am contented on the default speed. And besides this is a phone and not computer
I just ordered the Verizon Nexus from newegg for $189, ships tomorrow. Leaving Sprint due to very slow data. 3G speeds in Chicago at 150kb/sec. A ****ing joke. As fast as 1x Edge.
Still wouldn't have stayed if this phone comes out next week to Sprint. They need to show me a massive upgrade to thier whole network. LTE is cool and all, but what if stuck on 3G in certain areas still ? You want Edge speeds ?
I guess I will find out if Verizon network is as good as my buddies tell me is ?

I just jumped ship from Sprint to Verizon . The LTE and the 3G speeds for me were like comparing a Corvette(Verizon) to a Chevy Aveo(Sprint) . Yeah it costs alittle more per month on my plan but now I have fast reliable service where Sprint never could keep up . While traveling on Sprint I would roam on Verizon anyways but half the time I couldnt make calls or access data. Of course the techs said the phone I had on sprint was fine . I call BS sprints service sucks for a lack of better terms . Yes Im no longer unlimited but the amount of data I was using in a month never came close to the 4Gig limit I now have on Verizon so there isnt much loss on losing unlimited data . Also I like having service again .

Sprint galaxy nexus users

The sprint Galaxy Nexus will be launched soon, and I was wondering who will be looking to buy this phone. Since the 1st launch specs have mysteriously been pulled it seems there is no official knowledge of whether there will be a 1.5 cpu, or the same specs as the Verizon version. Sprint's newer ad's only show a picture of the phone with vague basic information.
We know that LTE is not rolling out for a while, bu we still bought the EVO 4G. We also know that the LTE band probably will change in the future, but my Photon is still getting Wimax 4G when I am in NYC. I am looking for my 1st Google experience, with a great display, and NFC. I also hope that the antenna, and GPS issues are fixed!
Man can't believe there gonna real ease this phone on sprint I feel bad for anyone that gets it in the phoenix area

I think its pretty safe to assume it will be 1.2ghz.
Google isn't going to want to fragment their baby in that manner.
If I was still on Sprint I would get it. Well I did get it but jumped to Verizon for it. Now I have a great phone on a great network...
Don't know what GPS issues you are talking about either...GPS is totally fine on the device.
As far as radios, seems like there might have been some bad hardware. If your device isn't defective then the radio's are just fine...
I think Sprint's version will have other issues it might face as a first device on a brand new LTE network.
I don't think there will be any LTE issues for it on Sprint. After all, it will be available almost nowhere to be able to have it drop or be unstable. /potshot

Haha...good point
i'm confident that this will be the same exact version as the Verizon CDMA variant. no gpu updates/no 1.5 clock/no LTE. these are always pipe dreamed whenever a carrier releases it after another has had it. Sammy aint puttin in any more into a phone that wont be a top seller anyway. because only 10-15% of the droid population even know what the nexus is. Apple/HTC/MOTO will get those newbie sales.
pretty much buying this phone cuz i love my nexus S 4g, and just looking for a more capable hardware to run ICS
the 3g will suck like it does now/the LTE rollout will be shaky at best/and no wimax to bail out the crappy 3g speeds
My expectations are right where they need to be. I bought the evo 4g on launch day and after that i learned "it is what it is."
but my major buying point of this over the coveted SGSIII is the fact that i KNOW the GN will run the next iteration of android (Jelly Bean?) before any phone that released this generation will. Ive been around long enough to realize that only newer/vanilla phones get the upgrades. (2.2/2.3/4.0) say what you want about the nexus s, but it was first to run ICS officially/unofficially. meanwhile people with the best hardware spec'd phone SGSII/Epic Touch are running BETAs of it at best...
so the GN will still be relevant a year from now. just the nexus s is still relevant to any1 not on verizion or whoever copped the EU version.
Just sad how late its coming out. And even still, LTE will be a joke for the next year at least on Sprint.
I made the mistake of buying the Evo 4G on launch day expecting WiMax to be good. Wouldn't make that mistake again.

Sprint Lte,Wimax phones

Question to anyone I called sprint and asked about the Lte roll out dates of course there is not much of a schedule to it if any but they said we have Lte capable devices out so I said if I purchase a lte capable device will I be without 4g until lte reaches my area they said no the lte devices can run wimax and lte so if that is the case why can't our epic touch run lte when it becomes available in our area.I think they are full of sh!t and just saying that to get us to buy a new lte phone.Unless the new phones will have hardware in them that allows them to run to different types of technology
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I guess it's possible that new phones could have hardware that works with LTE and WiMax, but I can't confirm this. I agree that the person you spoke with could be feeding you BS. It's been my experience that Sprint is a very dysfunctional company. I wouldn't trust anything they say that's not in writing!
As far as the E4GT being able to use LTE, I think it's lacking the hardware to do so. Maybe someone with more knowledge on LTE can comment.
There is no phone with wimax and lte .....none ....there is a pc card that will have both but no phone will be able to get wimax and lte ....they are 2 different radios

Fact is the Epic 4G Touch, can not and will not run on LTE - EVER. The Exynos processor is not LTE compatible, therefor the Skyrocket variants both have Snapdragons in them.
As for other phones, it would be theoretically possible to build a phone with both radios but that would be dumb, because space in the phone is tight to begin with, plus it would suck on the batter twice as much. I believe there is a rumor that the Photon may have both in it, but I really doubt it, and I also really doubt that any new LTE phones would have "old" WiMax radios built into them.
Sprint told me that our epic 4g touch will work on lte.... I know this not to be true..... Just remember that those wonderful customer service reps do not spend the time researching our devices like we do... So they are very mis informed

There is ONE Sprint device that can run EV-DO, LTE, and WiMax, and that is their upcoming hotspot. That's it. I was a technician at Sprint, and to sum it up like the other guys said, it is impossible for WiMax devices to pick up LTE, and also even if you implemented an LTE modem into the Epic 4G Touch, Exynos wouldn't work with it. Not even the new generation of Exynos processors does LTE, so prepare to be disappointed when the Sprint S3 has a Snapdragon S4 (which isn't bad). I think this is gonna be like OG Evo vs OG Epic, where the Evo 4G LTE is gonna win.
Me personally? I just got my Galaxy Nexus (Sprint version of course). Trying development vs power this time. I don't like the route HTC is going with bootloader unlocks that aren't real unlocks. Plus I only paid $400 for this baby
Once LTE service his your area, and BTW, San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston are all in the process now of roll out, you will still have service with 4G, but no you will not get LTE service, the performance difference is noticeable, but not enough to run out and buy a new phone over. Those who still have dinosaurs that do not have 4G capability, as well as crapPhone owners well lose service as 3G is phased out, hence the coming crapPhone 5 which is an LTE phone. E4GT well not be LTE compatible, however GS3 IS an LTE phone with the superior quad core Exynos processor that has been fixed to support LTE and benchmarked higher than any other phone currently available or set for release soon. So, if you are thinking of upgrading to be LTE ready when it happens, research your phone and it's stats, in the end, only you can decide which phone is best for you and your needs, study the processors for phones you are considering, check benchmark scores, and ask people you see with those phones their opinion...in the end your choice can't be wrong if it meets your needs

Galaxy Nexus is a decent phone. The coming hotspot is getting horrible reviews about constant LOS problems, and the US gs3, Sprint or otherwise, will have the Exynos processors, again, a little research and digging goes a long way....Snapdragon 4 is a decent processor, agreed, and as a former OG EVO owner, I believe that once again just as OG EVO vs OG EPIC, Samsung and the GS3 will prove to be the superior device, just in case though
I am getting my EVO 4G lte on release day, and adding a third line to get the Blue GS3, winner stays with me, and loser goes to some lucky bidder on EBay, be watching for an EVO 4G LTE listed by same screen name, current benchmarks on both phones show result, but I wanna test on my own. The added line will get a new whichever phone wins, and my son is super excited about his new GS3 as well...just sayin

EDIT: the new generation of Exynos processors is currently supporting LTE, that issue was fixed, announced and proven at the phones debut in London. They'll be doing another "launch" in NYC next week, and have already confirmed Exynos in every carriers version of GS3, not gonna repeat issues seen with GS2 because carriers want to mod the device to make it their own, Samsung clearly stated..."all carriers will release phone on same day, as shipped from Samsung Corp. with only addition of carrier specific applications allowed....any carriers not agreed to release with no hardware modifications will not receive the phone as well as any carrier not prepared to offer phone on date set forth in contracts between carrier and Samsung Corp." It's about time a manufacturer put Sprint AND VERIZON in their place!

Googles latest revision 6 - et4g or nexus?

Sorry if this has been brought up before but with Googles latest revision 6, would it be worth getting a nexus over an epic touch 4g? I have been offered a trade of a nexus for my et4g and thought I would check with everyone to see if it would be worth it with the new revision. If the phone is much better now really the only thing that would prolly bother me is that 4g lte will not be in my area for a few months so I would have to stick with sprints crap 3g unless it is better on the nexus. Horrible 3g on my epic.

Latest software? Nope. Ask verizon and nexus nexus owners about how that latest software is going. Latest hardware? Nope. When it was released, it was a mid end device hardware wise.
Biggest l deal breaker should be the network. It seems like you already have wimax 4g. Always use a phone for its network and not network for phone. Even if lte is going to start launching in your market, it's going to be a few towers here or there with random coverage that slowly increases as more sites come online. Sprint lte market launches with 30-40% or even less towers completed.
Ask yourself if you're really willing to wait 6-9 months for lte in most places around you.

The wimax 4g is definitely better than 3g but was just checking if the update makes it much better than the et4g and if 3g was better. On the paranoid thread it said that the update males the nexus pretty much kill every phone out in terms of snappiness and speed so I did not know if anyone had any experience with it. No microsd support but it is 32gb storage so that helps. Better screen so.. just seeing if it was worth it or not for a straight up trade and then I would purchase a quad core when they come out.
Indeed it is a active network vision market but iirc most upgrades are in the Waco region. Don't know if Austin itself is upgraded yet. If nv hasn't reached your city... Speedy nexus or not : you will hate it for slow data speeds.
Ur choice but my warning to you is watch the data speeds especially 3g. Austin market projected completion is the end or q1 2013...

Well one of my techs recently just traded his E4GT for a nexus, and he couldn't be happier. Even with the slightly inferior processor, that thing runs like an entirely different animal with jelly bean on it. It blows our device out of the water in terms of just general UI awesomeness.
Consider this: the nexus 7 posts similar benchmarks to the iPhone 5, and that's with the much hyped but still underwhelming tegra 3. Not to mention being underclocked. Jelly Bean really does make that much of a difference.
Now would I do it? No. But that's just because I'm attached to my devices as if they were my children lol.

I actually have both devices at the moment. A Galaxy Nexus and an Epic Touch, if I had the option to I would trade in for a second galaxy nexus.
does sprint let you switch between devices of the same price?

No but I wish they did. Someone on craigslist wants to trade.
Think I am going to go to the sprint store near my house and see if I can live with the 3g speeds on the nexus. While it might perform better, I use the internet a lot and I think that would be my bottom line.
You could just turn off 4G on the E4GT................ to see how it is

Apparently the 3g is supposedly a little quicker than the et4g. Dunno if that is true..
Well went and checked out the nexus.. despite the lte that is not out yet, the nexus is no match for a rooted epic touch. Sticking with the et4g.

T-Mobile scam exposed "galaxy s3 not compatible with LTE"

T-mobile is pretty evil in my opinion. The galaxy s3 should get the liability to be able to connect to LTE on their network. It isn't fair that they removed LTE capability via a software update. Proof; appleandroidguide on YouTube, watch the first video and you will see
I buy my phones based on what they can do the day I buy them, not what may happen in the future. It would be nice to have the LTE option but I never really expected it despite the promises made by sales staff and customer service. I will go buy a full blown LTE phone if I feel the need.
Sorry but your wrong, the only phone T-Mobile has for sale that has the LTE capabilities is the Note II because its exactly the same as the AT&T version. If you open it up you will find out that the phone may have an LTE radio but no antenna, like the Nexus 4. And really you should but your phone on what you can do now, not down the road.

Yup. Loan him your Tardis so he can go back in time to unbuy the T-mobile Galaxy S3.
Omg my porn loads instantly on hspa, how much faster can lte really be? By the time lte gets to the smaller markets most of us will have moved on anyway

My Netflix and games and downloads and everything run just fine on HSDPA+ and along with the lte upgrade, HSDPA+ will also receive an upgrade. I'd rather keep my H+ phone which will hey better battery life than LTE....
You gotta ask yourself... Do you really need it?
And if you do ( for reasons such as deeper penetration into buildings so you actually get 4g where you live or work or whatever..not just for faster 4g) then sell your s3 and buy an lte s3 or s4.
Your s3 was launched a year ago..that's a long time in technology. Get over it.
Its like buying a new car then complaining a year later that the newer model has more horsepower and better mpg.

Okay how is it a scam? If you bought the phone when it came out(1yr ago) Tmobile wasn't even hinting at lte. You bought the phone with an understanding of what it was capable of. Most people aren't xda people. They don't go on forums and check out detailed specs sheets and breakdowns inquiring about possibilities of a phones hardware. Sometimes I think its a curse to have such knowledge as we know more than the Tmobile reps or any carrier reps do. The xda community is a minority. They aren't going to change anything for us. They know if people want stuff bad enough they will either leave, pay , or stay where they are at. Tmobile will not bend for you or anyone. You know how hard it was for me to get credit from them for something they did (680++$$) ??? Over a week on the phone.

Just Ranting but here !!
Come on guys Really ? Technogoloy changes so fast these days no and keep up unless you have deep pockets filled with money and still while your standing there while to pay for it a something newer faster nicer sweeter will come a few days after you buy it. This is the name of technology sales my friends. I get HSDPA+ . Sprint pushes out Samsung S3 to people telling them “ Oh it 4G and LTE soon” in the NYC area but out side of the 2-5 miles you may get 3G that’s is it sometimes and another times crap. These carriers for there not for you but for your $$$$. So that’s why I buy my T-mobile phone based on what they can do and for how long. The very fact that you can pull out the sim card and just drop it in a other T-mobile just is a plus. Is this not why we are here because after we Root our phone and we come here for what they don’t give us?
You may enjoy the speed now but think about internetwork operability and the plans to launch voice over LTE via VoIP-based technology and its a no brainer that its something you want.
Keep in mind, it may take entirely new radio technology to take advantage of VoLTE so buying an LTE phone may already be outdated by this year which, besides economic factors, is why I'm waiting to see what happens in 3Q and 4Q
http://www.extremetech.com/tag/volte
If I remember correctly, the T999 gs3 doesn't even have an LTE chip in the phone. That's what tmobile is releasing the T999L that INCLUDES the LTE radio. The OP is an idiot, and if idiots dont wanna take the time to research and learn about stuff, then they deserve every bad thing that happens.
It does have the lte chip but it isn't activated and won't be because they went a different way with lte bands.

I'm with Videotron carrier in Canada, I have the T999v (v only for videotron, stupid ahah) and I have a fully working LTE network. Our device have the same hardware so T999 IS compatible LTE only T-Mobile popping bad excuse to dont offert it.
I guess I don't understand what the fuss is. When this phone came out for Tmo LTE was not even confirmed. Knowing this, and the fact that absolutely nothing has changed in terms of what has been said about this phone from either Tmo or Samsung about this phone having lte capabilities, there is no scam. We can wish that it was built with the compatible hardware, but the bottom line is that things could be worse, we could be stuck on sprint...

where I would disagree is in your statement about nothing has changed. I too was told multiple times before buying the phone towards the end of the year that it was lte ready and would get it once it came out.
The phone has an LTE amplifier for 700mhz and 1700mhz bands but no modem is mentioned. I would be curious to see a teardown of the V model... Its supposed to be identical to T-Mobile from what I understand...
So it has the lte radio but not the correct one? I been reading different threads on this figuring out if i was gonna get one but don't know if i want to. What lte bands does TMobile use
