[Q] Titanium Backup could not be installed. Free up some space and try again? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have plenty of free space. under 'manage applications' it says I have 11gb used and 17 gb free. Any idea whats going on?

This is bull. I just uninstalled a 200mb game and it still throws that error.

I had this problem once on my Evo 3d ... If I remember correctly, all I had to do was clear the cache in settings>apps>play store.

I have the same prob, how did u fix? Im not installing from store tho, have apks on my pc.

Had the exact same problem. Use a file explorer with root access. Go to data/app and find the odex file - com.keramidas.titanium.odex (or something like that). Delete that file and you should be good to go.

ditto. i used androzip root to delete the odex file, and it deleted, but titanium backup still didn't install. then, i tried again to delete the file, but this time using root explorer, and titanium backup was able to install. not sure why....

do a search, or if you use lucky patcher, it clears .odex files not in use.

To fix it, you need to remove the patch installed by Lucky Patcher.
Open Lucky Patcher. Press menu button and hit Troubleshooting, then Uninstall Patches.
This will remove all patches that were installed by Lucky Patcher for all apps.
Now, install Titanium Backup.
Note that you have to reapply patches for all apps you had previously patched.

another way to solve your problem in a rooted phone is using the program root explorer to clean the dalvik cache and cache folders, reboot and it shoud be able to install tb

Are you rooted? If yes, you can sort this out by deleting the /dbdata/databases/com.fede.launcher folder and /data/data/com.fede.launcher folder. After that, reinstall the 0.8.3 version.
Just make sure you have another launcher like default samsung or go launcher something in handy to navigate when you delete these files.

You need to have Root explorer or some other similar file manager which can grant you read and write access to the /data and /dbdata folders.
did u restart launcherpro after changing the setting? many settings require restart to take effect.
(just stating the obvious just in case op made a silly mistake).

A stock file manager won't help you. You need to have Root explorer or Astro File manager or Linda file manager or some other which gives you access to Root. These folders are located in the root directory.

Try searching for "launcherpro" and see what you get. Try deleting those files and reinstalling Launcherpro from market.

You can. Flash a non-wipe ROM. If that doesnt help, backup your data and flash over a wipe ROM.

I'm looking for this .apk as well, I just updated to Kezraplane's Optimized Galaxy W Stock V2 and there is no email client, I know I could get one from the marketplace but the default client supports my hotmail accounts without any messing about.
Here you go. Hope it's the right one.

Due to a comment made about the .apk by KezraPlanes, who built the ROM I'm using, I'm sure that the installer can be obtained and will probably be installed using RzRecovery, I only asked on this thread to help the OP and myself get an answer.
Don't get me wrong i'm only trying to give you the correct answer ;-)
If apps not are in the ROM where they should be normally you have to flash them in the operating disc.
Another solution would be to copy the right files into the operating system.

You can't install the apk like you can with a user-level app, because this is a system app.
You need to copy the .apk (and the associated .odex file if there is one) directly to /system/app. To that you need to be root, and you need a root-capable file explorer which can re-mount the system partition as writeable. ES File Explorer on the market works fine - check the settings to re-mount the partition as writeable, then copy the file(s) to where they need to be
I believe you can also push the file into /system/app using adb, but that's probably more complicated and risky than using a file explorer on your device.

Out of space - not able to install the apps - resolved!

Today, I flashed rom to fd05 (including modem, kernel) and was reinstalling the Titanium backup. But the installation was not successful because of the 'out of space' error message - "Titanium Backup could not be installed. Free up some space and try again".
I've checked the USB storage space and it still had 9.81GB space available. But the problem was it's including the SDCARD's occupied space upon total used usb storage space. For the SDCARD (external),it's being used about 12.65 GB out of 32GB. When you see the second screenshot, the miscellaneous files size is including the used SDCARD size. But after I unmounted the SDCARD, the size is decreased to 1.29GB.
So, I unmounted SDCARD and tried to install the app again but still got the same error (strange....)
Because of this error, I moved back to Calk's tweaked FD02 rom and it showed the same usage but I was able to install the app.
I'm not sure this would be the stock rom issue on FD05 (or any other previous stock roms) or it's something else.
At least I'm able to install the app on Calk's rom but not in the stock rom.
Does anyone know what makes this kind of difference? If there is any kind of tweak applied to Calk's rom, could someone please share the information with us, so we apply the same thing on FD05 or future roms?
[Update]
I just re-flashed Calk's rom with FD05 Stocked rooted rom again.
At this time, I just reinstalled Titanium backup without uninstalling TB. At this time it worked like a charm. No issues at all.
Last time, I tried to clean install TB on the Go Launcher EX but at this time, just updated TB on default TW launcher.
Quite strange. If anyone has the same issue, first try to update the TB on TW launcher..... Hope this help!
I wonder if this will help..

Usually if an app cannot install (especially a non-game app) due to space issues, the problem is space in /cache or /data/dalvik-cache (ie /data)
The USB storage usually isn't the "space" issue because it is relatively large, but can be an issue if it got remapped to an unexpected location.

Thanks sfhub for your response.
Because of the space issue, as long as I remember, I cleaned cache & dalvik cache from the boot recovery. But the result was same....
I believe there's some difference between Calk's tweaked FD02 and Stocked rooted FD05.
He said that "Moved dalvik-cache to cache partition(if it runs low on space, it will move back to Data partition)" on his FD02 thread.
Not sure, this tweak could cause a problem....

Had a problem with another app which had administrator permissions. After I uninstalled it, couldn't re-install again - .
Searched all over for solutions but kept coming to these similar threads about "going to data/app". Went there but it the app in question just wasn't there - therefore nothing to delete.
The more fool-proof, automated way to solve the problem (irregardless of app causing the problem) is to download Lucky Patcher. Under Toolbox>Remove fixes and backups (insufficient storage available) ==> it will automatically remove unused odex files. Works perfectly thereafter.

[Q] Lock Screen Sound!

Lost my root virginity today.
Looking to change my lock screen lock and unlock sounds. I converted the .wav to .ogg, renamed, went to system/media, and pasted.
However, now I don't have a lock or unlock sound anymore at all. Is there something else I need to do (format differently or wizardry).
There was a video of a guy doing it on his OG EVO4G, couldn't find anything specific to a Sammy however.
.mp3 files should work too
Also there might be a size limitation so check that out too

Thanks for the swift reply!

Tried to use an mp3 but no go. I think I broke all the sounds in that folder none of them work now =(

Do what you did with using the same filled format, reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik, reboot. See what that does. And make sure the permissions are set correctly.
Didnt have CWM on my phone, took care of that.
Used the .ogg format, wiped cache and dalvik cache. Tried it out and it didn't work but I wasn't sure about the permissions.
Would using ES File Explorer instead of Root Explorer have anything to do with it?
I enabled the r/w for ES FEx in settings.
