How do you HOX user delete your system/odex app? - HTC One X

So I have a lot of preinstalled **** apps sitting on my app drawer with no use for me at all such as
Ais
Axis
Broadband
Mworld
Myhtc
Ringtunes
And all the other useless ****.
I have tried to uninstalled them using Link2sd. Yes I do succeed.
But after I reboot my phone. All of the **** apps that I uninstalled came back. wtf?
Someone suggest me to use aroma file manager, not sure if its gonna work or not I mean have spmeoneu tried it and succeeded? Without the apps came back after uninstalled it?

You are rooted, right?
Use any file explorer out there and delete the desired .apk files from /system/app/. The apps'll be permanently gone!

Hulu and Flash 10.1

I'm sure you guys have noticed that Hulu claims our platform isn't supported. I was wondering if anyone has tried this technique yet to get Hulu to believe the flash player is installed on a windows box? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794512
I haven't tried it yet, but I know by default I cannot uninstall the Flash 10.1 build that was included on the phone in order to install the fixed apk...
I pretty much decided that since HSPA+ doesn't cover the WHOLE of my city yet then I won't bother with data heavy sites like Hulu on my phone for now.

hence the need for a flash build that reports itself as a desktop. The browser will report as a desktop if you do the debug trick, but flash itself is still reporting itself as an android phone.
The link I posted at the top had an apk with a custom build of flash that reports as a desktop, but I can't get it to install on my phone.

what i tried. used temp root, then got root in adb shell. rm system flash player, then cp new flash to system/app. installed hulu.apk, still same not supported error. also did the about:debug, same prob
whats wierd is after i rm flash, it still shows under manage apps. can it be installed somewhere else as well?
also how could i rm the cache of the stock player?

instead of removing flash using adb, maybe try using Titanium? Sounded like some people on other phones had success that way. I haven't messed around with temp root yet so I can't try it myself.

sure. its a little tricky, lol. read entire first post here, temp root, its been updated: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797042
as you read you only do stage 1 once (not needed if you have done temp root already)
then before you do stage 2, open titanium, it will say it doesnt have root, thats ok, exit out of it.
complete stage 2, do NOT exit term (sometimes it works if you do, most time not)
long press home to bring up recent apps. click on titanum. most likely will say no root, thats ok.
hit menu and reload titanum, boom superuser request. grant it and your in there for this session!
good luck, have fun, hope this helps...
Thanks man I'll try when I get home.

Are Twitter apps the "only" apks that wont install? If so, that is indeed perplexing. If you have the time, flash a different rom and see if you're able to install.
Try moving the app to /system/app then use root explorer to enable all permissions, then install.

Try moving it to the /system/app or /data/app
It seems its a widget, so that'll why its not showing up, if its on your sdcard.

well i already tried the system/app combo and fixing the permissions and that didn't work. will try the data/app combo wierd thi cause it should show up in the app drawer to open up the app
if you have Root Explorer (or Android Commander on your PC), navigate to /data/data and delete the com.twitter.android folder, and then try installing Twitter again. I had the same problem on CM7 and this fixed it (without having to completely wipe the phone)
Years weird thong I don't even have that folder anywhere in data/data

If your not rooted you cant. If you are rooted use a file manager to go to /system/app and delete, or move the apk's of the apps you dont want. Be carefull dont delete the wrong thing or you may bootloop your phone. Alternativley you could use titamnum backup or other apps on the market to freeze the system apps you dont want.
If you don't want to get too technical with moving apk's there is always titanium backup paid version which lets you freeze apps. After moving the apks on my incredible and then moving them back for OTA updates I wanted something easier for the bionic I got. Titanium lets me freeze them so they don't run, or show up in the app list. The free version doesn't do it but i think the 5$ or whatever was worth it for me.

to add to this. if you rename the file from .apk to .bak and re boot, and if the phone doesnt FC like craze you can go back and delete the .bak files. i did this in the beginning to make sure i wasn't deleting something that would harm my phone.
here is also a list that is ok to delete.

[Q] Titanium Backup could not be installed. Free up some space and try again?

I have plenty of free space. under 'manage applications' it says I have 11gb used and 17 gb free. Any idea whats going on?
This is bull. I just uninstalled a 200mb game and it still throws that error.

Had the exact same problem. Use a file explorer with root access. Go to data/app and find the odex file - com.keramidas.titanium.odex (or something like that). Delete that file and you should be good to go.

do a search, or if you use lucky patcher, it clears .odex files not in use.

To fix it, you need to remove the patch installed by Lucky Patcher.
Open Lucky Patcher. Press menu button and hit Troubleshooting, then Uninstall Patches.
This will remove all patches that were installed by Lucky Patcher for all apps.
Now, install Titanium Backup.
Note that you have to reapply patches for all apps you had previously patched.
another way to solve your problem in a rooted phone is using the program root explorer to clean the dalvik cache and cache folders, reboot and it shoud be able to install tb

Missing HTC Message app (sms) ?!

During installation I accidentaly removed HTC´s Messageing app (sms app).
I know there are thirdparty apps on Google Play....but I would prefer to have the original.
So my question is if anyone have the original sms app lying around..and would be kind enough to post it here ?

Yeah I thought of that to...but this seemed like an easier way.
Anyway...thanks for taking the time !
or use a filemanager and find the file in the rom zip you flashed, it's in system/app/ , i think Messages.apk is the right filename. extract it and copy to /system/app and make sure you've got 644 (rw-r-r) permissions on it, which should be available in the properties for Messages.apk once you extract it. then reboot. between flashing the package again or doing this, you're covered.
I´m looking inside the rom zip file...trying to figure out wich one of them is the smsapp.
The idea is to extract it and the insert it in the rom with root explorer !
EDIT: HEHE...rynfrnk...same thought !

exactly what you want to do! it's Message.apk and you'll want to make sure you didn't delete HtcMessageProvider.apk as well.. extract those out and copy to your phone's storage under /system/app and 644 the files so their perms are set and then reboot, you should be golden.
Done..that was easy enough.....thnx again guys !

no prob! glad you got it taken care of! with the advent of aroma, it's slightly less appealing to fix simple issues like that with a full re-flash.
