So who can talk to Twitter Inc. for us?? - Windows Phone 7 General

So who can talk to Twitter Inc. to just update the official Twitter app for Windows Phone for us? This is the only app I (and not only me) use since most of the ones out there are being sold and we don't use a lot of credit cards in my area so I stick to free stuff.
I love using the official Twitter app but have come to notice that it's lacking a lot of features and has a lot of bugs that needs to be addressed. Was wishing for updates that never came to fix these problems and I know there are very important people here that I wish to plead if they know any of the developers or responsible for this app to please help some of us who are still using this app by bringing out an update to make us happy.
The facebook app was in the same situation but not anymore since they are feeding us with a lot of beautifull UI updates and we are even expecting an update from them.
So please anyone out there to talk to developers of the official Twitter app to please overhaul their app for some of us who are still fans?
Thanks.

Well i use Mehdoh. I think it's much better than the original twitter application and it's free!

TweetCaster abd Seesmic are also great apps and Free ... try them

Where the hell is windows live messenger???

You would think Microsoft would create this application as a priority. Jesus, even my blackberry has WINDOWS LIVE!
What the hell!
Yes that was quite puzzling.
I would have thought that it would be on there before it launched.
I'll laugh if AOL sticks an AIM client on the marketplace before Microsoft gets an MSN Messenger client up there. It's boneheaded moves like this that have defined Microsoft lately and it's why they went from almost owning the smartphone market to being in a position where they may never be able to catch up.
Did ya'll look on the marketplace??? There is a live messenger there. The company that made isn't microsoft but they got paid by ms to do the app and it's the official messenger app...
Dont really get the confusion

TRUST ME IF THAT POS APP WAS REMOTELY PRACTICAL I WOULD HAVE USED IT.
Pretty much the "in and out" phone is just keeping me out from using my phone! Seriously this OS has immense potential but the launch was seriously half-assed, I would have been happier if they had delayed the launch window to early next year.
This is going to give a bad impression to many early adopters, let's not forget the issues with supply.

I don't know...I've played with the phones now quite a bit and really like the polish and features...yes, there are some glaring features missing but they will be added. I was told at an MS kickoff meeting earlier this week that they are going to have a ton of updates starting in January...they kept saying they are betting the farm on this so we'll see...
I would agree on the marketing front however...I don't understand how they can do such a good job with xbox360 marketing and do such a half assed attempt with the wp7 which is arguably more important to them in the long term.
They must be working on a native WLM. They make one for iPhone and Blackberry. They have produced a version for 3 on Android, which a third party coded.
It plugs into Yahoo Messenger too. Plus WLM now talks to Facebook Chat. They are rolling out that feature as we speak. But only a few people have it right now.
Maybe they will release WLM at CES. I can imagine Ballmer and Zuckerberg make an announcment together. Or at Mobile World Congress at the latest.
Maybe they were waiting for Microsoft Lync, which is apparently coming to Windows Phone in 2011. I just hope that, whatever it is, its a native app and ideally integrated into the OS.
Was just doing some reading about Microsoft Lync, sounds perfect...
Add Contacts and Share Presence and Instant Messages Users can add contacts on Windows Live, AOL, Yahoo!, and Google Talk networks to their contact list. With the Communicator “14” client, users can share presence status information and participate in instant messaging with colleagues and customers who use public IM connections.

The Zune HD Live Messenger only came out last month and had Facebook chat integrated. They're probably working on it.
What on earth are you talking about??? Messenger was available from day one and was one of the first apps I downloaded! its made by another company though. not microsoft. have a proper look or bing it in market place.

There's no need to be like that when evidently you haven't read all the posts. We know there's a messenger but it's not an official one and as such it doesn't do the job for the OP and others.
But it wont get more official. I read somewhere that the company that made the current wlm was paid by ms to code the app as an official one.
I'm pretty sure though that it will get updated with more features. The current version certainly lacks some features compared to the ios version.
ps: here is the link to the article
http://www.liveside.net/2010/10/14/whos-building-the-official-messenger-app-for-wp7-not-microsoft/
Microsoft has often asked other developers to make app for them like the facebook one on winmo 6.5 but they would always mark it as an official MS app, so if that company is in charge I'm sure it would be a different version without their name on it.
That aside, I can't see Microsoft developing a WLM app for Zune HD and an awesome one for the iPhone and then not make one for their own platform. Doesn't make any sense.
Pretty sure we will see something soon enough that surpasses the cheesy app that is out now.
Why the hell would MS pay somebody to make the messenger and not provide them with the ability to have it run in the background?
I have read the same articles, and it smells rather off to me.
Personally, i cant wait for a better one. (or the existing one to get out of pre-alpha phase, coz that's how bad it is)
what dont you guys get? the official app is the one on the market. microsoft just paid another company to make it.

"Messenger by Miyowa"? What don't we get? Well, for starters, how you managed to use it to message anyone. That thing is rubbish, I can't imagine Microsoft let anyone put that thing out in their name and, last I checked which was about 45 seconds ago it was the only IM app in the marketplace.
The app doesn't have to run in the background. Beejive and IM+ for iPhone worked quite well before iPhone supported background operation and it worked via push notification. I think they both support background execution now but why bother when push works so well? That's memory freed up to use for something else.
Finally, a really half-assed solution that works is the SMS / IM interface most carriers provide. Some only do AIM but some cover them all. Do a google search for your carrier. AT&T, for example, uses SMS numbers starting with 265000 to log in and so on. If you're really that hard up for IM it's better than nothing, but just barely.
People are funny in this world.
In theory this OS is a platform for the community to build on.
Too bad the community is a mob with pitchforks.
Who in their right mind will develop anything when the populous will undoubtedly attack their creation?
Microsoft can't fix people. Why does anyone need messenger when all they do is hate on everything new?
I read that news about this third party company and I have a strong feeling that it's false. There is no way, that MS which created official messenger app for every other platform would outsource something so native to an unknown third party company for the windows OS!
I have a feeling that was a fake news spread by that third party company.

Yelp NOT updating the WP7 app anytime soon, but actively hiring for more mobile devs

A question was asked on yelp's Facebook page, "Will yelp be updating the Windows Phone 7 app anytime soon??".
The answer: "Unfortunately, not in the near timeframe. Believe it or not, we're still a very small team and as such, our priorities lie with the platforms that see the most engagement (iPhone and Android) BUT, we are actively hiring for more mobile developers, so if you know anyone, please send them our way and I'll also tell our team we have some eager folks out there who'd appreciate an update."
Not the answer I was looking for. I thought I would share this information here to create buzz and/or maybe a developer might be looking for an opportunity with yelp.
I miss checking in, uploading images, and writing reviews on the mobile app for yelp that I had used previously on the iPhone and Android and hoping to get this updated on the WP7. Anyone else wanting an update for yelp?
Edit: Can someone please post this link (facebook.com/yelp/posts/110435869032330?notif_t=share_reply) I'm new here and it won't allow me to link it.
Maybe they should provide proper APIs like other social networks so we don't have to rely on their small team -_-

iHeartWP7: show developers that there are enough WP7 users waiting for their apps

Let's help our beloved WP7 platform to get some more attention!
Considering the fact that WP7 is relative young we already have a good choice of solid apps, services and games in our marketplace.
But I'm sure most WP7 users are still missing some major players on our platform!
iHeartWP7 created a website an a twitter account devoted to that purpose!
Twitter:
http://twitter.com/#!/iHeartWP7
Website:
http://www.iheartwp7.com/
Let's join our forces and get WP7 recognized! The more developers we convince, the stronger WP7 will get. The 3rd major smart phone OS is already here we just have to show them!
Follow iHeartWP7 on Twitter it's enough to re-tweet the tweets you like!
Quote from iHeartWP7:
I Heart WP7 was created with the goal of convincing developers to design their apps for Windows Phone 7. This website lets you easily contact the developers in masses and request that they bring their app to WP7.

I would hold off for a little bit. I was reading on another site that twitter is trying to ban all 3rd party twitter clients.
Also, I hear there was a new free app called tweetlanes that is supposed to blow any twitter app out of the water.
Just my thoughts on buying a premium 3rd party twitter app...

I've used Plume Premium for a very long time and I love it! Highly recommend it.
I like apps with no ads so for that to me it's worth it. Now if you have a tablet, it's hands down the best twitter app.

This is 100% wrong
Plume is my go-to client. I find it to be the least offensive design wise and have the right features that suit my needs. I also think the developers do a really good job with their other apps (Beautiful Widgets) so I don't mind supporting them all around. I've tried offical, Seesmic, Tweetcaster, Tweetlanes, Boid, Twicca, Peep, TweetDeck, TweakDeck and Slices but always always come back to Plume.
Tweetlanes is certainly one to watch and see how it grows. There is a lot to like about it and the developer has a lot of right things in mind so it might be worth to follow him. Carbon is the twitter app every person is waiting for but it's a closed Beta. From what I've read it's the smoothest one out there but there is no ETA on release.
One thing to remember is no twitter client has push updates except for the official twitter client. Any client that offers notifications is done so by polling. If you want some form of push via a 3rd-party client you can use IFTTT + Pushover.

100% wrong? Really? Obviously, you haven't read anything about it then, because it's not as wrong as you think it is.
Why don't you read this:

Changing API requirements and banning use of API are two completely different things, that is what my 100% wrong referred to. If you had said "Twitter just changed their API requirements which may mean some Twitter apps to become obsolete" than yes that is correct but that isn't what you said. Twitter will work with 3rd party developers who are at or above the 100K limit already and allow that to grow to 200% of the API limit. The rules are tight and strict but it does not mean they're being banned.

They're not trying to weed people out, if they were they wouldn't have put in there that they are willing to work with developers. If anything I'd say this is there way of trying to tighten everything up experience wise. I guess with the end game making sure the people who are putting out Twitter apps are doing so with Twitter's best intentions in mind. The irony there is Twitter is different on every platform (android, ios, web) and they bought Tweetdeck which functions completely differently from Twitter.
Plume is definitely the best go-to app. Premium gets the nifty widget.
But I want better list management, notification control per account, and individual account views.
Time to checkout Tweetlanes I guess.
Plume Premium just remove the ads, no extra feature.
Plume ads doesn't hurt much, they're related to the content you follow and appear as regular tweets.
I'm also looking for a Twitter client to replace Tweetdeck.
Plume is the best so far, but needs better support on columns caching, to not reload columns all the time.
It's true the Twitter API limit is killing a lot of 3rd party clients...
I've tried all these:
Official Twitter App - needs more features
Tweetdeck - still the best if you can live with the limitations, Twitter bought and killed development on it
Tweakdeck - modded Tweetdeck, very good, but also can't get big new features due dev sunset
Plume - the best modern client
Tweet lanes - started great, but then never got updated again
Boid - great app, now open source, devs gave up because of Twitter API limits
Falcon Pro - I don't understand the hype on this, so many other clients much better
Tweedle - keep an eye on this, may get good
Echofon - keep an eye on this, may get good
Janetter - supports lists as columns, needs some more features
Seesmic - I never liked it, also doesn't support lists as columns
Twicca - clean UI, I like other clients better
TweetCaster - lots of users, lots of features, but doen't support lists as columns
HootSuite - good features, but columns reload slow and too many times

Ok elrene101, this might sound silly but please bear with me.....
How do you know that it is spying on you or like you have Spyware installed?
Do you see banners & popups? if so then it is not spyware, it is adware.
To get rid it is us usually straight forward and simple, just uninstall the app in question.
Lots of time you will probably not know which one of the apps it is with those banner that pops up in the notice area.
So Rule number one, Do not install free apps found on the internet.
Rule number two, Do not install free apps found on line.
Rule number three, Do not install free apps period.
Now I know that these rules may seem harsh, but the fact of the matter is that most of the free apps are free because the developers of these apps need to get paid and they seek payment from sponsors who place these banners or ads into these apps and even into the notice area of your android. Years ago, I too was happy to install cool apps that I found on line and I was slap happy with apps. In the early days of the androids there were very little oversight, most developers were slapping code or copying code found from other apps or from sources on line. The whole app install process was a hit or miss, apps were not being designed for the specific phone model yet. It was either an android app or a iPhone app. You had to install it and hope that it would work on your phone. The stuff that went into the apps were quite unethical with the poor Q&A or the constant freezes, random reboots. Some of the untold stories of an Android developer who has a great following in only like 12 years old. (what does that tell you about best practices?)
Then I started to notice, that these apps were causing my phone to become slow with lag and the battery life was like hole in a bucket.
I then removed all free apps, all of them. just kept the stock, then eventually went for root to get rid of them all.
Install only apps from the market or what is now call the Play & when you can, look for a pro version or a adfree version to reduce the bloat ware or ad ware on your phone. There are a lot of free apps on the market and most of them are great to use, but you have to read the fine print because they will require access to your network or phone to schedule an update or to shut down when an incoming phone call comes in.
I have my android for some time now and upgraded to the S3.... Over the months, I too have tried apps and when I see that the banners are worse the benefit of the app, the app get the boot. Over the months, I have a nice collection of paid apps that I have purchased from the market. So if the app serves no purpose, it will be removed. Now the phone has only the apps that I use on a weekly basis. If there is an app that I have not used in a month, it gets removed. This helps the phone with battery and keeps the rom running smoothly.
If you follow these principles, you will be fine and will not have to format your phone. If you do, dont be afraid to ask for assistance or for some pointers on how to make a back up or how to odin your phone.
Youtube it.
Youtube has helped me with clues and have gaven me a lot of knowledge over a wide range of topics beyound the android.
With that said elrene101, Va ya con dios!
I also would like to hear what exactly leads you to believe you have spyware on your phone....other than CarrierIQ and SysScope, Im assuming.
I HIGHLY recommend using TrevE's Logging Test App. It can detect all sorts of stuff and can even assist you in opt out of a number of companies advertising and data mining. This is one of my favorite tools around, and the dev has some wonderful information for you.
The app is free, but there is a Pro Key available on the market for only a buck. I seriously recommend getting it. It significantly increases the power of the tool and automates a lot of the removal processes. (The free version detects, and you can read his thread to learn how to manually remove any threats). Its only $1!
Note: You download the app from his website, and then the Pro Key from the store. You can disregard what Serendipityguy said about not downloading apps from the internet for this one. I am currently using it and have for quite some time. I guarantee it is safe and ad-free!
If nothing else, I encourage you to go to both his XDA thread and his website and read, read, read! There is a lot to take in, but it is absolutely worth the time!
