[Recovery]CWM v5 Touch Recovery for HTC One V[Build 6] - HTC One V

CWM for HTC One V
Hi,
I have created a CWM Touch Recovery for HTC One V.One Member of you Group posted on my Touch CWM for Optimus One.so I thought about building a normal CWM recovery for this device.I have used kernel from TITTANIUM KERNEL which is said to be booting correctly.
If you don't know what Recovery and how to flash it then Don't Try it.I am not responsible for device if it is bricked.
I don't have this Device
How To
Unlock your devices bootloader
First you have to register at htcdev.com
Unlock the bootloader on your phone by following the instructions at http://htcdev.com/bootloader/
Pick your device (One V) or if it is not listed just choose "All Other Supported Models"
Flashing Recovery
download the zip file and extract (you will get recovery.img file)
Download and install the Android Standard Developer Kit, I placed the folder at C://
I think fastboot.exe have to be downloaded seperately because it is not available in the latest android SDK Link
Place the recovery.img where the fastboot.exe is locate (bundled with the SDK)
Now open command prompt and navigate to your Android SDK folder by pressing cd
Now type:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_the_recovery.img
eg:- fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Note : You can refer the instruction steps given below for HTC Desire
Code:
[B]Instructions[/B]
[LIST]
[*] Extract the Recovery image from the zip file using 7-Zip, WinRAR, or other similar archive extraction programs.
[*] Rename the Recovery image file “recovery.img” (without the quotes) to make it easier to type during the flashing process through fastboot.
[*] Copy the Recovery image file to the folder on your computer where fastboot.exe is located.
[*] Make sure that the Fast Boot option on your HTC Desire has been disabled. You can do this through Settings > Power > Fast Boot, and make sure it is unchecked.
[*] Turn off the phone.
[*] Reboot into Fastboot mode. You can do this by holding down the Volume Down key while pressing the Power button.
[*] Once you are in Fastboot mode, connect your HTC Desire to your computer via the USB Cable.
[*] On your computer, go to the older where fastboot.exe is located. While holding down the Shift key, right click in the folder and select “Open Command Window Here”.
[*] This should open up a command window or DOS prompt.
[*] Type the following command in the DOS window:
[*] fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
[*] Press Enter. This will initiate the flashing of the new recovery to your device.
[*] Once the flashing is complete, select Bootloader in the main hboot menu.
[*] Select Recovery.

You should add a disclaimer so no noobs can blame you if they damage their phone :L

Thanks for your PM and thanks a lot for your effort.
Tested but I have many errors as shown in the 1st pic and it doesn't look like a touch CWM
Also unable to go to the sub menu when I choose the main menu, it shows only blank page. (pic 2)

CWM Touch Recovery Test Build 2 Uploaded

Screenshot

Haven't even rooted the phone yet. Will work on that this afternoon and try this recovery.

Tested the test build 2
The touch maybe not correctly place as it is not easy for me to go to the sub-menu by touching the main menu.
Is it something to do with screen resolution, as you can see in pic 1, the CWM logo is at the bottom, when use volume-rocker, the logo will be at the top (pic 2).

I tested booth version, the buttons are ok but when I press vol- to navigate down through menu the screen goes black with cwm logo on top, if I press again it shows the menu and goes to next line...
If I touch anywhere on the screen is like pressing ok (enter), on empty spots or navigate buttons.

Troubleshooting
If you experience a bootloop (phone constantly reboots and reboots on the boot screen) or a soft brick (powering on the phone shows an orange triangle with a phone and computer), don’t be afraid. XDA to the rescue!
For a bootloop:
Take out the battery.
Wait for 3 min.
Put the battery in. Do NOT power on the phone.
Keep pressing Volume Up + Home simultaneously and press the power button to turn on the device.
Once the phone shows the model number screen, leave the buttons.
Your phone will boot into recovery.
Select “Wipe data/ Factory reset”. (Volume Up for going up and Volume down to go down)
After the reset is done, select “Reboot system now”.
The phone will reboot and you should be all fine.
For a soft brick:
You probably flashed some faulty firmware or firmware not meant for your device.
The File You Downloaded Must Be Incomplete.
Download the correct firmware and flash again.
woa! really great thread!
thnx for this step by step tutorial.. this really will help me and other begginers here in xperia forum..
there's some mistake in your guide:
first, you can't root last xperia s rom version with Bin4ry root tool
it would be better to link the main thread which then will lead people to the right place
then, i think that instead of using recoverX to install CWM, it would be better to flash advanced stock kernel (and then TWRP if you like)
and you don't need to flash FXP kernel before flashing rom
last but not least... i think that this thread would be better sitting in general section (instead of the android development one)

Thank You! I'd do the same..
And about the Last .55 Version I'd update the thread.
Next for the Advanced kernal.. Its true! but for beginners understanding CWM forms a very good base.
There were some issues with TWRP while providing null value in moving from CM10 to OPEN SEMC
So prefered CWM

Troubleshooting
If you experience a bootloop (phone constantly reboots and reboots on the boot screen) or a soft brick (powering on the phone shows an orange triangle with a phone and computer), don’t be afraid. XDA to the rescue!
For a bootloop:
Hold The Power Button And Volume Up Button
If You Hold For 3 Seconds = Soft Reset = 1 Viberation
If You Hold For 10 Seconds = Hard Reset = 3 Viberations***
Power on the Phone Again, Keep pressing Volume Up Button
Your phone will boot into recovery.
Select “Wipe data/ Factory reset”. (Volume Up for going up and Volume down to go down)
After the reset is done, select “Reboot system now”.
The phone will reboot and you should be all fine.
***Do Not Try Hard Reset Untill And Unless The Phone is Facing Major Problems,
For a soft brick:
You probably flashed some faulty firmware or firmware not meant for your device.
The File You Downloaded Must Be Incomplete.
Download the correct firmware and flash again.

Hi, I searched a lot for the way to flash a custom rom on my Xperia S. But now halfway through, I've got a problem. My device says it does not allow to unlock bootloader, so does that mean that there is no way I can flash a custom rom on my phone? :crying:

You can use only Stock based ROM for locked bootloaders, not the unlocked bootloaders one.

You cannot flash .zip files using flashtool. You can flash only Firmwares or kernel files using flashtool.

Which recovery are You using? The 2.8.1.0? It doesn't work with Xperia S. Use the 2.8.0.1 version.

Wait i will let you know the complete story.
so what happened is
first i was on CM11 for few mnths then switched to MIUIv5 for 1 month. everything was working fine
but when day before yesterday i flashed PA rom i am not able to access the recovery now (previously there was TWRP in my XS). now i can't flash any zip file
when i reboot to recovery it gets stuck on black blank screen. Even the recovery apps like twrp are not working. when i tried to install recovery through app, the app crashes.
As recovery is not working i cant even switch to other roms or any zip file.
i am totally stuck on this ROM
i asked this que on sony mobile group on FB (created by some sony fans), one of the member said "probably this is not ROM fault but the kernel fault. consider trying new kernel"

If You are on Beta 6 of PA, it doesn't have twrp or cwm. Flash the twrp v2.8.0.1 by terminal emulator method.

Ah yes, even that one doesn't have recovery.
Unlocked bootloader is must.
You need an Android app. You can find the app here. Also, here is the page of the twrp.
What You need to do is, download the twrp from here. Rename it to fotakernel.img .
Then copy it to Your sdcard.
Then run the following commands on the terminal emulator app:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/fotakernel.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11
TWRP installed!

Try using the new 6.0.3.6 recovery, it's based on 4.2.2 bootloader so should work. The two you mentioned are both based on 4.1.2 bootloader
Thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315529
EDIT : If it still doesn't work, uncheck the Auto Reboot option in Odin, and after you flash the tar file and it says "Pass". Take out the battery and boot into the recovery
So.. flash ur firmware again..via odin..then try to root again..

Oh crap, my bad.
The first time you are installing a custom recovery, after you have flashed recovery through Odin, boot into it(Vol Up+Home+Power).
Select "install zip", then "install zip from sdcard/exeternal sdcard" then select this zip file : View attachment Fix-Recovery.zip and select Yes
Reboot into the recovery, do the same thing and flash this zip file : View attachment UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip
First one is to fix the recovery and give it permissions (only has to be done when once, for your first custom recovery, others can be flashed over it)
Second one is to provide you with Root permissions inside the ROM (this one can be done over any ROM/firmware)

Fantastic!
Great news!
Thanks for the instructions. Can anyone confirm if this works on the Find 7 X9076?
Just tested and it works great [Find 7 X9076].
Recovery and root access. Done!
Thank You. :good:
I can load the recovery, but as soon as I press Volume + or - within the recovery I have the following error message:
E:touch_calibrate: EVIOCGABS failed
From there on, if I initiate the touch screen UI by touching any part of the screen, I can no longer use Volume +/- and Power button combination properly. as soon as I use any of those button, it just automatically launch the first option that is on whatever the recovery menu is.
Am I the only one having this issue?
Thank you. This worked. (Find 7 X9076)

ok thanks, at least that is consistent between phones. Unfortunately i m not smart enough to do any fixings, hope this get highlighted and resolve in the future version of the recovery.
Yeah, it's still early though. Just glad it's working this well.
Hi,
Worked fine for me, thanks for the clear easy to follow guide. I noticed the error E:touch_calibrate: EVIOCGABS failed on the screen but all movements in the recovery seemed fine, I used physical keys first then tried the touch screen and that worked too.
At the end of the process it asks if you want to prevent the ROM from flashing the default recovery, I choose yes. Might be worth adding that for completeness as some people might be unsure.

Just been back into the recovery to do a backup. Which ever button you press you get the error but all the buttons work fine. This sounds like a daft question but you are not getting the buttons back to front are you. On the Find 7 the volume buttons and power buttons are reversed to a lot of phones and it's easy to press power instead of volume.
Sorry if this is not the case. It's just it seems to respond to everything for me and that might explain why you were entering on the first option. Could you double check?
worked for me too
Works great on X9076, thanks OP!:good:
after that we must return to stock recovery if we want to update via ota?
No. I received an update yesterday when I reverted to.colorOS but kept the gummy recovery
Sent from my X9076 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Worked on the X9077 too but it didn't recognise my exFAT formatted external card...
Also, like TWRP, it's half size.... Which proves it's not the size but how you use it that matters...

I think it doesn't like exFAT, FAT32 seems to work ok but that seems silly to me to have a kickass hd screen and not use it with hd movies...
Stock Recovery
How can I backup my Stock recovery image before flashing this. Or is the Stock X9076 Recovery already available for download?
Can official Oppo Stock Roms (ColorOS 1.2.1i for example) be installed with this recovery?
Fasboot not working
which system did you use it?
- I tried to Windows 8.1 x64 with USB 3, and I could not find the find 7 (x9076). No detect the phone.
Do you have any idea, how I can use it?

Use Win 8.1 64bit too.
Make sure you are going to fastboot on the phone by pressing up volume +power until Oppo logo appears, release power but keep holding up volume, you should see fastboot on the screen...
Using the ADB files, make sure you open the files until you can see the .exefiles, it helps to have the file you wish to flash in there too, and hold "shift" key down while right clicking on white space in the window. Choose "open command window here".
Connect the Find 7 to the PC & type "Fastboot Devices" in command propmt. You should get a serial number and device found or something, if you don't try a new cable or usb port...
Once the phone has been detected type "fastboot flash recovery "the file name of the recovery.img", to make it easy, the file needs to be in the ADB file and after you type the 1st letter of the file you want to flash, press "tab" it will autofill the filename (just make sure you have different names for the files).
Then you can follow the other instructions with Supersu to get root....

Here is an updated version of TWRP for Mi Pad 3 (Codename: Cappu). This is the latest update based on TWRP v3.2.1-0 I used TWRP by Multirom and rakomancha's TWRP as base for a working device / twrp tree for our device. I have tested this version for some hours and discovered no errors - but tell me if you find some. If you are looking for a tree for your Mediatek MT8173 / MT8176 device you can use my one as base. You should also have a look at the twrp main-thread for all neccessary changes that need to be made.

What ROM did you flash TWRP over?
Before flashing TWRP (via Method 2), I first flashed the China Stable ROM V9.2.2.0 found at en.miui.com. Touchscreen worked perfect for me

As alfiean already said you should try to flash China Stable or Developer ROM before you flash TWRP. When I flashed an older version of TWRP on my new Mi Pad 3 I mentioned touch problems, too. After flashing China Dev Rom everything worked fine.
OK, I fixed the touch issue.
By the way, this recovery seems MTP not working.

Found a bug:
Unable to flash SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip with the following error:
Code:
- Finding boot image
--- Boot image: not found, aborting
Same for other SU versions.
But with twrp-3.1.0-cappu_b4.img (by multirom.me) I've flashed same SU package successfully without any errors.

At point number 8 of method one I detect this error: the "recovery" box cannot select it. The program does not allow me to select the box recovery.
My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Cannot swipe in TWRP recovery mode
Hi,
I have an issue with this image
twrp-3.2.1-0-cappu-20180306.img
androidfilehost fid=746010030569959472 ( I cannot post the link because I'm a new user)
I go in recovery mode but I'm not able to interact with the screen: a big white lock icon appears in the center and I'm not able to remove it, any idea?
I've also seen that there is an updated version here but there are NO mirrors available!!!
twrp-3.2.3-0-cappu-20180906.img
androidfilehost fid=1322778262903999335 ( I cannot post the link because I'm a new user)
Please, can you help me with this?
1) How can I unlock the screen ?
OR
2) Do you have a functioning link for the updated version?
Thanks!
I installed, teamwin. in my mipad 4 but is written in russian. isn´t it? It is complicate to use it in Russian.
