yesh the wireless charging is like the palm pre you have to put on a replacement battery door BUT im going to buy this charging kit anyways cos the battery door is said to feel more premium coated in a rubber the induction coil is in the door.
the charging is like the palm pre you just put the device on a flat peice of plastic vola its charging

Is there any sample pic of it?

That's the million dollar question!! I guess we could ask some palm owners on their experiences

It'd be awesome to have. Until your cat knocks it off in the middle of night. Plus it's easier to plug it in then set it on something when I pass out

I'd heard that the stand was around £35. For a moment I thought Clove had got one, but that turns out to be the normal desk stand (I think, see http://www.clove.co.uk/accessories/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s3/cables-chargers)
Like the idea of the wireless charger because I've seen how easy it is, based on the three HP Touchpad's we've got in the house.

The Touchpad folks in the house haven't noticed any difference in charge time (apart from the initial one) between wired and wireless charging.
That said, the difference in the initial charge was quite long, (one TP was wired charged, the other two wirelessly), in the order of an hour if memory serves me. And if the Samsung charger is anything like the HP TP one then you don't have to be too precise with your device positioning.
Just wish that the Samsung S3's charger also allowed a headphone out - kind of like the old (?) Apple iPhone/iPod dock (the one with the remote). It'd be nice to give that Wolfson DAC a spin by using S3 as an iPod replacement.

The important questions are, is it compatible with my current PowerMat that I own. Also, I have read about PowerMat's new NFC charge card that should be out sometime this year. You swap out the NFC card with their NFC+Charge card and there is no need to switch phone backs.

September? WTH!

Yes what is the hold up?

What I've heard is that basically it was a last minute addition and was never going to be ready on time - it wasn't delayed, it was always expected to come this late after launch. Might get the LG Optimus LTE2 instead, as that also comes with wireless charging apparently.

Very pricey, I want it. I'll have to see catch it at a deal.
The Tylt definitely is a looker, but I can't justify spending that much on a charger.
I just want something around $15 - $25 that outputs higher than 1A... I want to at least attempt to come close to the max Qi for the Nexus 5.
The cheap $15 one I have right now is 1A max output (so less of course) and I'd say it charges a little over half as fast as the stock charger.
I don't want to spend higher than that for essentially a glorified usb cable.
Missed out on the tylt deal (also already have the nexus) so I couldnt get one. So trying the diy route
Yeah I'm with you guys, they definitely charge a premium for it. I missed out on the sale too but bought it anyway and I'm glad I did. It's really one of the most convenient accessories if not THE most convenient accessory I've ever bought for a phone/tablet and it's that convenience you pay for. I wish it was cheaper, but still think it's worth the asking price.

Don't really see how, and I have no issues with either of my devices. I would think if wireless chargers damaged the battery, then phone manufacturers wouldn't add that feature. Do you mind linking that post?

Ahhh the heat thing. Yeah, that *can* degrade the performance of a battery over an extended period of time, but I don't see that being a major concern. Your phone gets warmer during gaming sessions or just browsing the web than it does when on a wireless charger so the argument can be made that it's worse for the battery to actually use the phone than to charge it wirelessly. That said, at least in my experience, my TYLT charger doesn't make my N5 or N7 warm at all. And my N5 is on it all the time. Bottom line- use your phone the way you want to, you're going to be upgrading long before your battery dies anyway.
Slightly OT, but does it matter if you plug in your Qi charger into a USB 2.0 port on a computer, or do you need to use a USB 3.0?
I know that the mAh of USB 2.0 is something like only 500mAh, but I believe it still supplies the same 5V as USB 3.0 would. Would a Qi charger go by the 5V input, or would is use the 500mAh max draw rendering the charge time absolutely horrendous?
I don't really know how it works too well. I have my Qi charger plugged into a USB port on my power bar for my night stand. But I'd like to have 2 more, 1 for my desk (hooked to my desktop computer) and another for my notebook.

Which wireless charger should I buy ?

I recently purchased a Google Nexus 5 and I'm looking to buy a wireless charger. I've narrowed down the options to the official Google wireless charger (2013) and the Tylt vÜ. Keep in mind that I have the capacities to buy either one but not both. Any help would appreciated. So according to your opinion which one should I buy ? Thank you for your time !!!
Between those two, I would absolutely go with the official Google Nexus 5 wireless charger.
Before you consider the Tylt, read this thread. It goes in depth about the overheating issues it causes with the Nexus 5.

Not being smug, I'm trying to keep on topic, and steer it back in the direction the OP requested. Too many threads veer way off topic quickly/get hijacked because people ignore the main point of the thread. This one was to help choose between 2 specific chargers.
I don't use either of the options the OP listed (I have 6 different Qi charger styles), but I wanted to help him out by staying on topic and answering his question. There are tons and tons of other Qi options out there, but the OP has made up his mind. To not even bother answering his question, but instead only list your own personal choice, is not really helping, it's ignoring his request completely.
of the two I would go with the google...there have been issues with the tylt.
IF however you were looking for another option - I have this
http://www.nillkin.com/english/proshow.asp?mid=2&sid=3&tid=0&cid=6&scid=9&id=3768
and it is fan freakin tastic. Works flat, on an angle with the kickstand, or ad a cradle with arms and kickstand. I got it for 30 off amazon (it is normally 39.99 I had a free 10.00 credit). Has three induction coils so always hits the charger spot. I use it with kickstand and arms to lay nexus 5 on side next to my bed so I can use it as an alarm clock, then grab and go when I go to work. Thinking about getting a second one for work and travel I like it so much.

+1. Just ordered one myself because I heard of too many overheating problems with the Tylt. I do have the Official Nexus Charger and it works well, but I want something that stands the phone up. I don't know if the OP has a preference as to how the phone is sitting on the charger to help make his decision.
To Glenroebuck : Does it cause any overheating issues ? Because one of the big reasons I steered away from small 3rd party manufacturers was the fear of the accessory causing permanent damage to my device ? So in your experience has this Nillkin wireless charger caused you any problems ?
P.S. : Any other suggestion than the ones I suggested you would appreciated.
To all : The tilt feature in the Tylt vu doesn't matter to me all that much, it's just an added bonus. I'm just looking for a good charger that won't overheat my phone or cause me any trouble. Sorry I can't post a comment to your post (still under 10 posts). And does this Nokia charger cause you any problems to those how have purchased it ?

I have not heard of any issues with the Nokia charger and the N5. Even though the Tylt has overheating problems, its more popular than the Nokia. I know the company will replace your Tylt if you have overheating but you have a 50/50 chance of getting another one that does the same thing until they figure out how to fix it. I know people have had luck with the Tylt putting the bottom of the phone on first and rolling it onto the charger and they haven't been having as much overheating issues.

I take it you mean the watch. I like it. I wish it had a better battery. I like AW better than Tizen. So much more development. I wish I could make or answer calls from it like my Gear 2.
What someone needs to do is having something like the Power Pack Micro or any small power pack and have a Qi charger on one side. That would have been killer. Then you could have looped the watch around it to charge on the go.

The answer is governed by Ohm's Law
Current draw is regulated by the device not the power source. Ohm's law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the potential difference across the two points.
If you think about mains electricity, you can plug in a high current device like a kettle or heater to the same socket you plug in a low current device such as a phone PSU.
HTH.
I'd love to find a qi-enabled battery pack like this that has embedded magnets, so I can just stick my Nexus 5 to it, and put it in my pocket. True charging on the go. As it is, I either have to deal with a cable that I'm afraid I'm going to bend/break while I'm moving around, or use rubber bands or something to keep the my phone attached to the charger. Anyone find one?

I got the same Samsung ones on Amazon. Certified Factory refurbished $24.99 for just the dock with a 90 day warranty. $27.98 with the samsung fast charge AC Adapter. Mine worked perfect. No signs of wear, looked brand new.

Edit: After reading the reviews on this one from Amazon i'd beware. If i would've read them i'm sure i wouldn't have purchased. That being said, mine is working fine with the s8 Plus... unlike the $50 luxurious wood QI charger i recently purchased for my s7. which just pauses on the s8. This one performs as i would expect, hopefully it has some longevity to go along with it.

My apologies. I like yours better. Seems to have a more pronounced lip to hold the phone from sliding off while in upright position. With mine, if the wind blows it'll slide off lol. Are you completely happy with it?

The first ones were the ones Woot was selling two for $59.99.
Wow, those second ones are expensive for just one charger. I guess I lucked out with the Woot sale. The lip on these is good. If I'm not paying attention and set the device down it can slide off, but it doesn't happen often.
Oh, and the Woot sale is back in stock.

You guys must have the right touch.
I can't get my s8+ to work consistently on any of my Samsung Wireless chargers (The one from woot). Somedays they work fine, most days it pauses and drains the battery trying to charge. Not to mention they slide off as the lip doesn't seem really deep enough. I'm going to try the jet.com deal. Thanks OP!
Edit: FYI, select the Tan charger, then in the detail page, change the color to black. That's where the cheaper one is.
I'm getting two for $100.20 after all discounts! Who hoo!

I've been using this for about a month now. Are you using it with a case? If so, make sure the case allows wireless charging
no no case ,and the power plug that came with the phone,,mine only arrived yesterday and if you shake it it feels there is something loose inside ,,could you check yours to see if it rattles? thanks

No, nothing in either one of mine rattles. It sounds like something may have broken off inside. Contact woot and see about getting a replacement. If you put the charge on your credit card, they should cover you as well.
thank you for your time
