Doesn't sound like a definitive answer. I would talk to someone else. There is always a reason why.

Did u buy a GSM or CDMA phone. U need to make sure it was the sprint version not the Verizon or the GSM version.

yes its the sprint version it came sealed it the sprint box

Mm probably was stolen from store?

A sprint store should be able to figure it out. If it's a brand new phone I don't see why not.

What plan do you have?

Can't activate on Verizon either
I'm having the same problem-- but with Verizon. Bought it from ebay, in great communication with the seller who is trying to help.
Phone isn't stolen/lost; no outstanding balances on the phone or my plan.
Factory data reset didn't help one bit. Can't activate fully-- just get internet (no calls/texts).

Did you get a new 4g sim card with your new phone? Or a sim replacement? You need to activate the sim card, but as long as its already activated, any device should work.
http://support.verizonwireless.com/information/4gsim.html

If they can't activate it has to be GSM or verizon

Are you sure it's a Sprint Galaxy Nexus? Take some pictures of the phone. What does the backcover contain?

Yep, this is the third new SIM (LTE) card. Been to both the store and on the phone with Verizon tech reps.
Tech reps say activation is "stuck at the switch" (this is day 3... btw)
should I unroot it? I've already done 2 factory data resets.... Or should I just wait it out?

I know someone who couldn't get it to activate the Sim while on a custom ROM (liquid i believe)
They ended up putting the Sim in display nexus, activated, put Sim back in his and it worked lol

A lot of custom roms do not have all the required proprietaries needed for such things like sim activation. Or they include them, but do not sign them correctly.

I don't suggest asking them to put it in a display device to activate....i don't think they normally do that and will probably look at you like you have spiders crawling out your nose lol
Just put it on a stock ROM
When i got my nexus it came with liquid on it unlockedrooted
i just flashed the 4.04 stock ROM build that bird man compiled found over at rootzwiki and it got activated
At this point you have the option of putting the official stock 4.04 vzw build on it tho which i would recommend, preferably one without any tweaks, rooted should be fine tho
To the OP, try putting your self on a stock ROM for sprint and you should be gravy
Good luck!
Let us know if it works guys!

Roger's Galaxy Nexus - Any bloatware & is it yakju

Finally GNex for Rogers.
Anybody get it yet?
I'm just curious because I don't trust my own carrier at all, they have a tendency to screw things up royally all the time. (last time I bought a phone from them was the HTC Dream) and that was a huge mess with the entire cannot dial 911 with data enabled forcing an entire legal issue and a mandatory patch or suspension of service. Since then I've happily owned a Nexus One (shipped from Google) for the past two wonderful years.
Can anybody confirm that Rogers has not stuck their dirty fingers inside our dear Galaxy Nexus? (no bloatware, no Rogers Logo on boot, etc etc)
also this isn't a deal breaker but I'm just wondering if it's yakju or not.
as long as it is not Rogers Branded at all I'll go pick mine up today =)
THANKS for any info guys
It won't be branded as Rogers. Pure stock. Yakju? Not sure, you can just change it later if you desire.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I've done a lot of searching around the forums to know that yakju or not I can live with it, I know that it should be clean and not branded at all, but it's my life long experience with Rogers that has conditioned me never to assume the best with this company...
yet the reason I stay is because they do provide one of the best services in Toronto. Nothing would make me happier to pay $30 for voice and data with Wind or Mobilicity but truth be told, reliability is more important even if it costs 3 times more...
It doesn't matter if you have yakju or yakjuux.. I am glad you decided you can live with it being either

This might not mean anything but my friend got his from Fido and he said that it has no bloatware from them so perhaps its a sign that Rogers decided to not put anything on there.

Sorry to get off topic, but I've been on Rogers for years (like you, ordered a N1 from google) but my service of late was ****. Dropped called, dropping out of 3g, slow, slow internet and no service while my co-workers were chatting away on their phones. I thought my phone was defective by I looked on howard forums and there's tons of people having issues. Long story short I broke my contract and moved to virgin so I could get the GN right away. The service is SO MUCH BETTER! It was the best $200 I ever spent.
If you've got a good plan with rogers, fair enough, but I assure you, their service is not longer the best.
I've had mine 2 days with rogers..it's awesome.just get volume +, and I hope we get 4.02 soon,bell / virgin started yesterday

I just picked mine up within the last hour and so far everything is sweet.
Just a question i have though, for OTA updates does a popup show in the notification bar or am I suppose to go look manually to see if updates are available on a site or something?
I have same question...i think it notifies if you reboot, or go into"about phone"and click on system updates, and it verifies. Nothing yet, but I hope to get it soon

Where did you see that bell/virgin phones are getting 4.0.2? I haven't seen a single post of this yet.
What radio is the rogers nexus using?
hey , for people who recently bought the ROGERS Galaxy Nexus, can you post what MODEM/BASEBAND version it came with???
I'm curious if its any different from the Bell/Virgin/International ones
And if so, could someone pull the radio for us to flash?
I'm using an international Galaxy Nexus on Rogers and am curious if the Rogers GN radio will benefit
Thanks!

Hey guys,
My phone was stolen 3 days ago and I traced the location of the thief and got my phone back. Anyway, when I got the phone back the sim card wasn't working anymore and I looked more carefully at the sim card holder of my phone and it looks like it's damaged.
I have bought my phone from a guy on craigslist who had gotten this from Bell. Is there anyway to repair this? Would bell guarantee or Samsung guarantee be responsible? What can I do??
I attached a picture of the simcard holder.
Extort the dirty thief for money to fix the problem or call the cops.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I called the police and they he is not confessing and it's not a police issue atm, it's a civil issue and I would have to take him to court which would cost me more than the price of the phone....lol
Try someone else's sin on your phone. It might be that getting a new sum would be enough to bypass the problem. I had this problem with a Photon 4G and it solved the problem.

I did try a new sim card and it didn't work Anyone else knows what I should do????
Either u buy the part and fix it your self (easy).
Or buy a new one
Or get the warranty going.
Warranty, if you're not keen on fixing it yourself.
Btw, we can't tell much from the pic, except that you have a GSM nexus.

This really sucks. And I can't find the part. This thief is messed up for even stealing it.

I'd suggest using Samsung. They should honour your warranty since the phone is less than a year old (and their warranties are for less than year old devices. So just call them up and tell your story.
There are a few threads about this, Samsung USA will refuse to fix it if its an international device, you will have to contact intentional Samsung. If you can buy a sim slot replacement from them its extremely easy to replace yourself. You will not be able to find sim replacement elsewhere unless you buy a whole broken Nexus, individual sim slots for expensive phones are hard to find for sale. PS. From my experience every different Galaxy model has different sim slot connector and size.
Also another member from the previous post mentioned shipping his phone to a shop to fix it: hasslefreecellphonerepair.com, I don't know anything about them.
It probably was broken because the perpetrator put in a microSIM adaptor.

yea the thing is that my phone is not activated on a carrier, i brought this phone used but the IMEI is clean, it had been flashed to boost mobile, I took it to some stores aka metro, boost and they say it can be activated (Not metro anymore due to tmobile merge)
personally i never had a activated phone, but when i install roms i it keeps going to some activation phonecall.
long story short i want to flash it to verizon and make sure that i can activate because im selling the phone to someone.

Not sure what you're asking, but Verizon and Sprint technically have SIM cards but they are internal and cannot be taken out.

Using an unlocked variant on Verizon?

I don't know what the hardware differences are between the different carriers' models. Can I use either of the bootloader-unlockable/rootable variants (Sprint or T-Mo) on Verizon?
Failing that, has anyone started a bounty to get Verizon rooted and/or bootloader-unlocked?

I started one for Att but have since given up and switched to Sprint. So far I regret nothing. I guess being the two biggest carriers Att and Verizon have a little more push on what manufacturers can and can't do.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the T-Mobile model will work if you're lucky/patient enough to get it unlocked.

From looking at the spec sheets only the Verizon version will work on Verizon. All the other versions doesn't support band 13 by model numbers that in itself gives Verizon the power to block it even if you hack to unlock band 13.

Freaking Verizon really pisses me off, because I'm kinda stuck with them...
I've been with them for about 11 or 12 years or so and I'm grandfathered in on a very old unlimited data plan that's pretty cheap by today's standard and this being a flagship phone and all...
Anyway I had the pixel XL first and returned it because even it was locked down and got the z2 force just because of the moto mods.
Yeah VZW kinda sux...

The problem is OEMs. They don't want to put in band 13 on all their devices. If they did then Verizon has to comply with Block C rules. Since OEMs don't want to pay for licensing and put in code that Verizon has to open source. They would rather have Verizon pay for it then that comes with restrictions.

It will be SIM unlocked BUT you will have to pick a carrier and it will have the carrier goodies built in. There's no unlocked one without the carrier bloat and built in features. You have to pick Verizon to get it on Verizon iirc, but anywhere you buy the Verizon version it's unlocked anyway.

Best bet is go to Walmart and buy a cheap prepaid phone. Test it out where you travel a lot. Make some calls do some data. If everything is legit switch to T-Mobile if not you are not out much. That's what I did and I am glad i did. Saved myself $150 A month AND I can choose any device I want.

SOLVED - Help - after Tmo update, lost wi-fi calling...

UPDATE - issue is resolved. Thanks!
Hi all,
I got the notification to update this morning. Now, on the latest G955USQU2BQK5. Previously everything worked flawlessly. Now after the upate, I no longer have wi-fi calling. It's just completely disappeared as a setting/option.
background - bought this as an unlocked S8+ Verizon version from Swappa. I'm on metropcs so I flashed the Tmobile stock firmware and carrier switched about 3 weeks ago when I got the device. Like I said, everything has been working flawlessly until the update this morning.
Any helps or suggestions? What do I do - I work in a place where I get no data/texts/calls so wi-fi calling makes my device work/function.
Thanks for any guidance friends!

Screenshots. I circled an area in the about phone. I've never noticed what it was before but maybe it shouldn't say XAA/VZW??

I have the exact same issue. Samsung s8+ unlocked Verizon version, I flashed T-mobile and it had been working flawlessly on T-Mobile and more recently on Mint Sim.
T-Mobile pushed out an update Monday night that makes the wi-fi calling disappear when you do not have a T-Mobile SIM card in the phone. As soon as I put my old t-mobile sim card back in and re-booted, the wi-fi calling icon and settings came back. Unfortunately as soon as I put the Mint sim back in, the phone makes you restart and the all the Wi-Fi calling features are gone again.
I hope someone has a fix soon, otherwise I'm gonna have to get rid of Mint sim.

This completely blows. Someone in another thread suggesting redoing the carrier flashing and see if that helps. I'm gonna try tonight after work and I'll post my results here. If you come up with anything, will you please update as well? Thanks!

Yea. I've been looking all over the web to see what I could do with no luck. Looks like T-Mobile disabled it for other SIM cards. MY only silver lining is my Mint account ends Dec 24, so I could go back to T-Mobile. I'd rather not pay another $200/ yr just for wifi calling though.

Nope. Odin fails this time when I try to do the carrier switching steps. This completely blows.

Just FYI - after getting help from people way more knowledgeable than me, I finally got it resolved. So long story short, you have to carrier switch again and factory reset your device back to, in our case, tmobile stock software. Its available here on XDA for download. I'll link you to the thread where I got help. You'll need the updated files for the carrier switch 1st, then the updated firmware for tmobile stock. The secret when doing all this is to take out the SIM 1st!! do the carrier switch and factory reset, all while SIM is out. install the phone, setup via google etc. Don't put your sim back in until you can see wifi calling is available in settings, etc. Then I dropped the SIM in and everything worked. Good luck bro. Here's the link to the thread i was talking about LINK starting with post 406
