[Q] Longest Lasting Screen Protector - General Accessories

I really want to get a screen protector for my phone, but I don't know where to start. I want a good anti-fingerprint protector but I used some that are just horrible as in sometimes the scratch still occurred on my actual screen. As of right now, I don't have a protector but I'm very careless .

Good thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24472222

On my HD2 with a cracked screen I still have my Zagg, that is what I voted for in the poll. On my G2 I have the protector that came with otterbox case.

All my friends have zagg so i think that's the best one.

I only use Skinomi. Great fit, don't show fingerprints, and you only have to pay shipping if you ever need one replaced. If you check on Amazon you can probably find them on the cheap. They also come with good applicator spray and a squeegee so you're good to go right out of the box.

I use zagg on my sensation. Its locally available @ most malls and comes with a lifetime warranty if they apply it in stores or @ kiosk. Keep you receipt, any bubbling or inperfections, they replace without questioning. No brainer for me.

I used a Seidio one and some army type screen protector from radio Shack.. The army one was 20 and it was crap but the cheaper Seidio one on Amazon was great

Zigzag is the best imo looks invisible and if fitted right won't come off, the scratch thing is cool to, put a small scratch in it and watch it heal!!

i already buy it from amazon !!

check out buff, not tried it myself but the video tutorial has a guy breaking a walnut with a hammer on a iphone screen and the screen came out without a scratch bufflabs develops it

I've used zagg quite a few times and found they last a while

i've used clear coat its pretty good but sometimes its hard to use which is a down side

I have been using zagg for 8-9 months and its still good.

Every Zagg that I've ever bought is still on the devices that they were installed on, just like the day they were installed.

Screen Protectors
I'm actually a cell phone salesman and the best that I've found all around is Zagg. You can get them online for around $10-$15 if you look around and they give a lifetime warranty, you pay $3 shipping and return your old screen if you make a claim. A lot of people complain that Zagg's shields are too rubbery, but they have different types. The anti-glare works out in the sun and is smudge proof, and they recently released HD, which is the same glossy finish, but feels like glass instead.
I've used Ghost Armor's, Otter Box's and around a million obscure off-brands from Amazon. Zagg takes the cake, hands down.

Zagg works for me...!

Got to be Zagg for sure

What screen protector?

That's the response I always get. I have the Realook screen protector, I think you can only get it from Amazon.
I've been very happy with Ghost Armor.
I like Seidio's Ultimate Screen Guard.
HTC EVO 4G screen protector
This is where i ordered my screen protector, much cheaper than local shops. crystal and just like you never use a protector on your screen.
I forgot the name brand, but I have a privacy protector. Not because I want to conceal my privacy but because most privacy protectors offer the thickest of SP's!
100% recommend Zagg.
Great protection, dosn't smudge, and lifetime warrenty. I have sent mine back twice now (first time was because I managed to get dirty under it, 2nd because I shattered my screen) and I get a brand new set. Peel it off send it back, done.
Hey,
I agree zagg all day every day! Their protectors are cheap thin, the feel is amazing, they protect from scratches and you can beat them up but it keeps your screen safe! they are easy to apply with solution, and best part when you want a new one just pay a few bucks for shipping send them back the old one and its free!
this video says all! hope i helped!

Zagg is by far the best imho
I had ZAGG on mine for several months. It worked great. I took it off because I didn't like the feeling of it compared to the "glass" feel. I've had it off for a couple months and still no scratches and I like the phone a lot better without it.
I just tried the new anti-glare version from zagg, it was horrible!!! It was like looking through crystallized glass, especially when there was white background. I went back to the original zagg and love it.
I use the one that came with my OtterBox. I thought I was going to hate it but rarely even notice its there any more.
Clarivue. Can barely tell the difference between it and the glass. Just bought my gf some generic ones off Amazon for her shift and the quality was really good for a quarter of the price. Don't think I'll be buying the name brand versions anymore but if I did I'd go with clarivue.

I also use the one that came with my Otterbox case. Before that I also used Invisashield(Spellcheck ).
The touch screen is more prone to breaking from pressure or impact then from scratching.
yess finished my fiends...
I have to say Zagg is the best. For one, if you have them (or someone like best buy mobile install it) both the screen protector and the installation have a lifetime warranty. Meaning if your screen starts to peel off, take it back to Zagg get a new one free, and get the new one put on for free!
i dont like screen protectors and cases and mi phone is perfect but depends how you use it
i've used an the otterbox one for a bit and then a zagg when that wore off but now i have SGP STEINHEIL anti fingerprint one. i didnt really care bout the fingerprint part but liked that it was slightly matte so its wayyy easier to see with sunglasses on
I'm using the one that I came with the otterbox. It has been on since September, with heavy use/abuse. Its just barely starting to peel at the corners.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Zagg since launch day. Has a couple of pretty decent "marks", but when the screen is on you cannot even notice it. It is the only protection that I use. No peeling so far.
-Art
Zagg! You cant beat the warranty if something does happen to it. If you can find a kiosk let them install it. Its the only thing I will let someone else work on my phone.

Screen Protector Film Recommendations?

Hello,
Do you recommend Belkin Anti-Glare Screen protector for SGS2? (if you have used it) If not, which screen protector do you recommend? The most important thing for me: It nearly shouldn't have any affect on touch screen sensitivity.
Thanks.
You see im in the camp of whats the point of a screen protector, adding another layer to screen. I just use a cheap clam flip case to keep the screen safe. Only just had S2 but never had a screen protector on my sgs for over year and never got a mark on it

I'm using a basic silicon case. Flip cases are protecting well but having a flap hanging around while using the phone is a little bit annoying for me. I want to use it because, Gorilla Glass screen is just scratch resistant, not scratch-proof. There are many people reporting scratches after just daily use. Also Anti-Glare films making the screen easier to slide, especially in games like Fruit Ninja

OK, I will be glad if you let me know about it. It looks fine. But I couldn't find any local online shop selling Estoc protectors. So, i think I'm going to buy this one tomorrow:

I will write about it.
I have tried the SGP ultra oleophobic, and this worked well for 2 weeks, but after that it would start to attract oil, ... the opposite of what it was supposed to do, the plus side is that it doesn't have tint and the screen looks good. I am now going to try the Halo screen protector. Let us know how you screen protector turns out.
I really like the one that comes with the otterbox for the S2.
it's easy to put on and fits perfectly!
hope this helps
Definitely Zagg invisibleSHIELD.
I couldn't find them locally either. GMarket was the only place I could find them online, I split the cost of shipping with a few other people from XDA.

It also is much smoother, no orange peel & is not tacky unlike zagg products.
But zagg is still a very good product in my opinion.

zagg is a good brand/product ... but the invisible shield, like chrisjcks said, is not smooth which affect the touch response cause of that tacky feel of it
Received the 3M Estoc screen protector today. It's quite solid, and enables you to 'buff out' minor scratches & dings on the protector. This is due to a coating on the protector itself that obviously wears away over a period of time. It comes with a 49873 page encyclopedia with instructions on how to fit (due to having instructions in 192 different languages). The package contains the protector itself, a microfibre cleaning cloth, a cardboard thingy to smooth out the bubbles when you fit the protector and a few dust removal stickers.
Fitting was no more difficult or different to any other screen protector, just a case of making sure the screen is perfectly clean/free of dust, then slowly/carefully applying it to the screen & smoothing out the bubbles as you go.
This is a good protector if you're using a bumper case & don't have your screen covered, it will easily handle being in a pocket with other items & should protect the screen quite well. It will probably last at least a couple of months (maybe more, depending on how rough you are with your phone) if you use your phone like this. As I use a flip case, it will probably be good for much longer than this, as the face of the phone won't be exposed to the lining of pockets, keys, loose change, etc, etc.
Now to the question of value. Is it worth the ~$25 or so ? Compared to the $15 protector I had on my phone previously, and given I use a flip case which protects the screen anyways, probably not. I doubt I'll be spending another $25 on one of these when it comes time to get a new screen protector.
But if you're someone who uses bumper cases/etc & likes having a 'nudie' screen, I'd definitely recommend these. Obviously if you only order one from GMarket the shipping will make it a fairly expensive exercise, but you could always order more than one/some other stuff from that site, or find someone on XDA to go dutch on the postage who lives in your country like I did (thanks to Victaaaa for same )
The Zagg invisibleSHIELD is the best in my opinion, uses a fluid that facilitates the placement may be withdrawn and placed if things do not go well the first time, this has the orange peel effect but this in no way affects the image or touch . I used it in the first SGS for 1 year and now I'm using it in SGSll about 8 months.
i recommend sgp ultra crystal too...i am using for 5 months and i have no problem at all...fully satisfied.
Thanks for all recommendations. I couldn't have any time to buy one yet; but I hope I'm going to buy this weekend from a store near here. I'm going to buy Belkin, if I can't find it I will prefer SGP or Zagg.

I use SGP Ultra Crystal and so far so good.
Zagg is probably the worse of all of them because of its tacky-ness. Also its scratch healing properties wear off after a month or so. The best is the 3M Estoc+ followed by SGP or RG Japan.
sgp ultra, solid choice in my opinion.. can't go wrong
I recommend SGP ultra crystal film or 3M estoc

Zagg HD invisible shield

I am normally not the type to write a review of a product just simply because I'm not usually impressed by a product. Upon purchasing this phone I looked at it as an investment a year down the line something new come out and I want to protect this in order to get the best resale value of the phone. I hate using a screen protector I always have felt that no matter what I used it took away from the color and clarity of my screen and also ended up getting a lot of a fine scratches on it that I never really noticed on the gorilla glass.
Installation for this product literally only took me about five minutes and I am no expert when it comes to installing screen protectors. Though the screen protector does not have any healing abilities due to its surface like other screen protectors of finish on it is absolutely smooth as silk which is what I was looking for since I use Swype to text. The other ones with the healing ability the surface is just too sticky to use swipe texting in an efficient manner.
The product is a little bit pricey I picked it up at a local Best Buy store for about $27 with tax but it is well worth it to a protect my investment that I plan on selling in the future.
It comes with a lifetime warranty so I do not even have to worry about damaging the screen protector as I will be able to get a new one in replacement of this for the longevity of the phone. I'm not a rich person by any means and $27 for a thin piece of film for my phone is a lot to me but I have to say it's definitely worth it.
Pros – silky smooth finish that easily wipes off any smudges that may occur. Very tough military grade scaring protector used helicopter blades. Amazing see-through clarity zero opaqueness. Very easy application takes literally minutes.
Cons – price is a little bit high probably could've got a cheaper online but I did not want to wait. Removing the extra water and bubbles seems almost impossible to get every single square inch of it out I'm hoping they will evaporate in a few days.
I hope you all enjoyed my first review of a product.
Good review. I have the HD on my phone as well. I was a bit worried at first, as there seemed to be some "orange peel" effect after installing. After a couple days, I'd say 90% is gone. Fortunately, I got mine for free using a BB gift card. If I had to choose one to purchase, I'd probably just go with the SGP Ultra Nano Clear. Cheaper, much larger install base, and easier to lay on - plus, I wouldn't be fuelling Best Buy.

I bought 4 and I've used Invisishield on other phones. I do recommend it to a lot of people. While the HD is clearer than the regular, it can eventually become riddled with dents and scratches. Thankfully, as you said, there is a lifetime warranty on the screen protectors so send it back for a new one. Just pay the shipping and handling.

The lifetime warranty is a plus. I've also found that scratches / dents on the screen will repair itself in about an hour or so. Kinda spooky.
I don't have the HD version, just the regular zagg invisibleshield, but I'm really disappointed with it. They actually put a zagg logo on the damn thing, which is ironic considering "invisible" is in the product name. It's really quite noticeable on the white s3, pretty big bummer, in addition to the terrible feel and poor cutout quality. I will never buy another zagg product.
It's funny, I I asked the guy working at a zagg kiosk about the branding, and noticed his iphone did not have it. He said it was because of the size of the screen. Then blamed the logo on the fact that some company called body armor or something also started offering phone skins. So if another company offers a similar product you differentiate by making yours worse?
Does the HD version still have the zagg logo in the bottom right?
I seem to remember reading the HD version does not repair itself well or at all? The thread (which I can not find) even quote's a Zagg CSR explaining that the HD is thinner than the original, and because of that it doesn't have the same healing advantages... DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER, I'M SIMPLY REPEATING WHAT I READ HERE. And it was because of that thread when I bought MINE, I bought the original NON-HD version, because I was familiar with it and KNEW it repairs itself. I can live with the slight orange peel knowing that if I put the phone in my pocket with my keys, my phone case + screen will be protected. :good:
I keep going back and forth on buying one of these, the HD version. Your review may push me to try it. I had the original on a previous phone and I didn't like the orange peel and the sticky feeling. Thanks for the review.
I had a similar Zagg branding on my old HTC vivid. Turned out that Zagg logo scratched right off. Almost like scratching off a lottery ticket. Might give your Zagg logo a gentle scratching - bet it comes off.

I have the HD installed presently. I like it. It's a good protector. ...until I think about how much I paid for it. It is a couple bucks less than the XGearlive tempered glass protector that is coming out later this month.
Friend works at Future Shop, got it for $7 and did professional installation ( or experienced ), and yes its silky smooth
I generally dislike screen protectors and have posted many times how they aren't necessary. That being said, I had a Zagg HD installed at a local Best Buy Mobile just to see if I'd like it. It's been on several weeks now but every day I contemplate ripping it off because of the dents and orange peel effects along with some tiny debris that collects along the edges sometimes but I've held back so far. I don't think it'll last much more than a few weeks though........ I miss my perfect and bare screen but I don't miss my paranoid expectation that a screen scratch is inevitable.

Yeah, mine is starting to get lint dingleberries every time I pull it out of my pocket. Oddly, the one on my Thunderbolt is still going strong, although it wrinklier than an elderly elephant's nutsack. I think I'm gonna pull it off my S3 and use a Nano Ultra Clear that came with my SPG case.

I have the Body Glove case, which I really like... but the lip around the front of the screen is so tight, it pushes the edges of the InvisiShield up off the screen. Luckily I was able to push the shield back down with apparently no damage, but now I can't use my case. I still have time to return it, but now I'm wondering what case is compatible with the screen protector?

Zagg InvisibleShield HD is amazing.

would like to recomend this screen protector to anyone. It is well worth the money even though it is a water base protector, it feels like glass.i already wasted to much money on useless screen protector with my GS3 cause i thought Zagg was overprice (and still do) .
i bought the Xtreme guard = crap, skinomi = it was alright didnt like the rubbery feel and went with film screen protector.
I bought the Tech armor HD which i think it looks amazing but does not cover the entire screen and it would get scratch easily. i used 5 film in 2 weeks. After doing my research i heard of the HD version of invisibleshield and that it feel like glass.
It is amazing and it doesn't affect the image quality of the screen, the only problem would be if you are willing to pay the high price ($25) for it.
the RETAIL price for HD is $19.99 and $14.99 for the orange peal (but can hold a car) version if you buy from them directly.
also every few months they have 50% off or buy one/get one free sales..
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield...es-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
im thinking about getting protection for the back also then i dont have to worry about scratches.. if you have the full body protection the only thing you need to worry about is the bezel and corners...... which is actually a big deal
but im going to try to not have a cover with this phone and see how long it lasts... with insurance through bestbuy i think i will be fine
Is this screen protector attached with the wet method? Also do you see an orange peel effect?
No orange peel.. It's like a normal screen protector.. Only in hd.. I'm serious lol its beautiful.. Non orange peel no funny texture almost can't even tell it's there..and yes you put it on with the "very wet"method.

After trying the Tech armor HD dry application (film) will never again use dry skin. First, it does not last. i went with 5 screen protector in 2 weeks. I love wet application but hate the rubbery fill. I hate regular zagg, bestskinever, skinomi, xtremeguard and other wet protector. This zagg invisibleshield HD is different.
The surface is smooth glass, so it feels like a dry application protector but has the durability of a wet one. no orange pill or rainbow effect like i was getting with the xtreme guard. $20 might seen to much for a screen protector but, trying different one i already spend much more than that. $20 and lifetime warranty for having the best screen protector, if i knew how good it was i would have bought it from the get go.
If you want scratches all over your screen protector then dont get this. Has happened on multiple replacements and with NO heavy use. This has been discussed before.
Save your money. Get a dry application screen protector. SGP
Zagg Protectors suck. There are many wet protectors that are cheaper and better than Zagg protectors. I only use Best Skin Ever as my protectors of choice. They are cheap and last the entire life of the product. For example, the screen only protector is 8.99 and the full body is 11.99 I believe.
To those that say dry protectors are better than wet, i'm sorry but that is absolutely not the case. I rotate between both types on different products and wet is definitely better all the way around. It takes a bit of work to apply, but once it's on, it's self healing and if done in a stemmed bathroom, it's impossible to get any lint or dust underneath the protector during the application process.
Dry protectors do scratch and are not self-healing. If applied right, a wet protector is visibly non-existent on your product.

Nope, the Zagg HD Dry is what T-Mobile was selling when the S3 came out launch day. Unfortunately, that was the screen protector I had to go with at the time because there were no other screen protectors out on launch day. That was a horrible mistake. That thing has a horrible texture and it was picking up lint and dust right after I applied it. I took it off literally 4 hours after I applied it. Read the reviews on a google search on Best Skin Ever, they are cheap and the quality is well worth the price. The company even prides themselves on offering low-cost, high quality skins and they are not lying...its an excellent product.

You are absolutely right, I will never buy a Zagg product again. Their original skin was OK, but even then I didnt really care for them. This new HD material is garbage though.
Try a BSE man...I guarantee you won't be disappointed. I used it on my iPad 3, Kindle Fire, and even my laptop. I eventually went to a dry protector for my iPad 3 because my case was lifting the BSE.

Screen protectors?

Is there any company out there that makes screen protectors like SPG? Currently I have the Verizon screen protector with the diztronic tpu case and it's already peeling. I know Skinomi makes one but it's a wet application and I really don't like the feel of it. I know Skinomi has a sticky feeling to it like Zagg when you glide your finger on the screen. I have searched across the Web. Seems like no love for the Maxx.
Sent from my XT1080 using xda app-developers app
No, Skinomi is the best protector. Zagg is a piece of crap! I have used multiple Skinomi protectors (never the whole body ones) and loved all of them. I have the Skinomi on my MAXX right now and my fingers glide like on polished glass. You have to be in a dust-free environment and have an assistant help spray your fingers with the applicator. There is a science to doing it right. Also the lifetime warranty is awesome.

SON OF A B... I feel like I am being punished for upgrading early or something! I have the anti glare screen protectors. The girl at the store did a GREAT job of putting them on. She even used scotch tape and everything to eliminate dust. Well...I'm on day 6 of use, and now my protector is peeling off. Why are so many things going wrong with my purchase! I'll call it bad luck and have her put a different one on and hopefully week 2 of my trial will go better and the notification volume issue will be resolved.

I agree with skinomi being on top, still have a skinomi on my original droid razr maxx for almost 2 years and you cant barely tell its on there.
I bought a skinomi and I think it sucks. When I think screen protector I think of something hard that can not be scratched. These "tech skins" are some kind of soft gel. I actually gouged it with my fingernail while swiping.
I use the xtremeguard. Feels rubbery and not as durable as I expected. I scratched it intentionally using my fingernails and it failed me.

using skinomi.. it is a soft type material but protects well.. and the items it comes with just makes it easy to install. if you gauge it with any small scratches or even your fingernail.. dont worry about it, it heals itself back.
Here's a follow up on the verizon anti glare 3 pack. I'm still on my first one. It's got quite a few tiny marks but not visible when display is on.
Once in a while my defender or Trident cyclops cases will make the edge bubble ever so slightly but no dust has accumulated and upon removal of cases with built in screen protectors it goes away.

So has anyone found any glass screen protectors for the Droid Maxx? Phone's been out for a while and I still can't find any sellers..
nitro glass doesn't make one yet... im South New Jersey..and our mall has a kiosk called ClearCoat... pretty sick screen protector...
Another +1 for Skinomi. I am currently using it. Application was a cinch. And they have an application video to aid. It is applied and I put a Otter box on top. Feels and looks great. Not as stick or gelly as I expected. Perfect.
Friend still insists best buy sold tempered glass screen last year. Still searching.

Long story short, my mother just got this phone a few days ago and I know the amount of abuse she inflicts on her phones. She normally just throws it into her purse with all the other stuff. I'm trying to find a protector that can handle whatever may hit the screen. I've used Skinomi and like them but I've used a tempered glass protector and I like those a lot more. Do any of you have a recommendation for what type to get?
P.S. I already have found her a case, so the body of the phone should be safe.

I haven't seen any of those for the Ultra series yet. I have a Skinomi, and have had it on the phone for 5 months now - it's just fine. Occasionally the case will start to peel the edge a bit but it's always easy to get it to adhere back down. In fact, I haven't seen that happen in weeks.
So yesterday I removed my anti glare screen protector (verizon 3 pack) because it was due for a change. The screen was so hard to see, very shiny and reflective, but it did look slightly clearer.
But I became weary and installed another one. Lol.
Anyone have clear full body armor?
