Zagg HD invisible shield - Galaxy S III Accessories

I am normally not the type to write a review of a product just simply because I'm not usually impressed by a product. Upon purchasing this phone I looked at it as an investment a year down the line something new come out and I want to protect this in order to get the best resale value of the phone. I hate using a screen protector I always have felt that no matter what I used it took away from the color and clarity of my screen and also ended up getting a lot of a fine scratches on it that I never really noticed on the gorilla glass.
Installation for this product literally only took me about five minutes and I am no expert when it comes to installing screen protectors. Though the screen protector does not have any healing abilities due to its surface like other screen protectors of finish on it is absolutely smooth as silk which is what I was looking for since I use Swype to text. The other ones with the healing ability the surface is just too sticky to use swipe texting in an efficient manner.
The product is a little bit pricey I picked it up at a local Best Buy store for about $27 with tax but it is well worth it to a protect my investment that I plan on selling in the future.
It comes with a lifetime warranty so I do not even have to worry about damaging the screen protector as I will be able to get a new one in replacement of this for the longevity of the phone. I'm not a rich person by any means and $27 for a thin piece of film for my phone is a lot to me but I have to say it's definitely worth it.
Pros – silky smooth finish that easily wipes off any smudges that may occur. Very tough military grade scaring protector used helicopter blades. Amazing see-through clarity zero opaqueness. Very easy application takes literally minutes.
Cons – price is a little bit high probably could've got a cheaper online but I did not want to wait. Removing the extra water and bubbles seems almost impossible to get every single square inch of it out I'm hoping they will evaporate in a few days.
I hope you all enjoyed my first review of a product.

Good review. I have the HD on my phone as well. I was a bit worried at first, as there seemed to be some "orange peel" effect after installing. After a couple days, I'd say 90% is gone. Fortunately, I got mine for free using a BB gift card. If I had to choose one to purchase, I'd probably just go with the SGP Ultra Nano Clear. Cheaper, much larger install base, and easier to lay on - plus, I wouldn't be fuelling Best Buy.

I bought 4 and I've used Invisishield on other phones. I do recommend it to a lot of people. While the HD is clearer than the regular, it can eventually become riddled with dents and scratches. Thankfully, as you said, there is a lifetime warranty on the screen protectors so send it back for a new one. Just pay the shipping and handling.

The lifetime warranty is a plus. I've also found that scratches / dents on the screen will repair itself in about an hour or so. Kinda spooky.

I don't have the HD version, just the regular zagg invisibleshield, but I'm really disappointed with it. They actually put a zagg logo on the damn thing, which is ironic considering "invisible" is in the product name. It's really quite noticeable on the white s3, pretty big bummer, in addition to the terrible feel and poor cutout quality. I will never buy another zagg product.
It's funny, I I asked the guy working at a zagg kiosk about the branding, and noticed his iphone did not have it. He said it was because of the size of the screen. Then blamed the logo on the fact that some company called body armor or something also started offering phone skins. So if another company offers a similar product you differentiate by making yours worse?
Does the HD version still have the zagg logo in the bottom right?

I seem to remember reading the HD version does not repair itself well or at all? The thread (which I can not find) even quote's a Zagg CSR explaining that the HD is thinner than the original, and because of that it doesn't have the same healing advantages... DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER, I'M SIMPLY REPEATING WHAT I READ HERE. And it was because of that thread when I bought MINE, I bought the original NON-HD version, because I was familiar with it and KNEW it repairs itself. I can live with the slight orange peel knowing that if I put the phone in my pocket with my keys, my phone case + screen will be protected. :good:

I keep going back and forth on buying one of these, the HD version. Your review may push me to try it. I had the original on a previous phone and I didn't like the orange peel and the sticky feeling. Thanks for the review.

I had a similar Zagg branding on my old HTC vivid. Turned out that Zagg logo scratched right off. Almost like scratching off a lottery ticket. Might give your Zagg logo a gentle scratching - bet it comes off.

I have the HD installed presently. I like it. It's a good protector. ...until I think about how much I paid for it. It is a couple bucks less than the XGearlive tempered glass protector that is coming out later this month.

Friend works at Future Shop, got it for $7 and did professional installation ( or experienced ), and yes its silky smooth

I generally dislike screen protectors and have posted many times how they aren't necessary. That being said, I had a Zagg HD installed at a local Best Buy Mobile just to see if I'd like it. It's been on several weeks now but every day I contemplate ripping it off because of the dents and orange peel effects along with some tiny debris that collects along the edges sometimes but I've held back so far. I don't think it'll last much more than a few weeks though........ I miss my perfect and bare screen but I don't miss my paranoid expectation that a screen scratch is inevitable.

Yeah, mine is starting to get lint dingleberries every time I pull it out of my pocket. Oddly, the one on my Thunderbolt is still going strong, although it wrinklier than an elderly elephant's nutsack. I think I'm gonna pull it off my S3 and use a Nano Ultra Clear that came with my SPG case.

Does anyone use a case with their InvisiShield HD? I have the Body Glove case, which I really like... but the lip around the front of the screen is so tight, it pushes the edges of the InvisiShield up off the screen. Luckily I was able to push the shield back down with apparently no damage, but now I can't use my case. I still have time to return it, but now I'm wondering what case is compatible with the screen protector?

I'm using a SPIGEN Ultra Air case. Doesn't seem to be disturbing the ZaggShield at all.

I work for bestbuy so I get the shields for like. 10 bucks. Love the HD ones.

This screen protector is beautiful. And the good thing about zagg is every 3 months or so they have a 50% off sale. However you could cause a rip in yours send it back to zagg and they will replace it no questions asked..
Lifetime warranty...

What screen protector?

That's the response I always get. I have the Realook screen protector, I think you can only get it from Amazon.
I've been very happy with Ghost Armor.
I like Seidio's Ultimate Screen Guard.
HTC EVO 4G screen protector
This is where i ordered my screen protector, much cheaper than local shops. crystal and just like you never use a protector on your screen.
I forgot the name brand, but I have a privacy protector. Not because I want to conceal my privacy but because most privacy protectors offer the thickest of SP's!
100% recommend Zagg.
Great protection, dosn't smudge, and lifetime warrenty. I have sent mine back twice now (first time was because I managed to get dirty under it, 2nd because I shattered my screen) and I get a brand new set. Peel it off send it back, done.
Hey,
I agree zagg all day every day! Their protectors are cheap thin, the feel is amazing, they protect from scratches and you can beat them up but it keeps your screen safe! they are easy to apply with solution, and best part when you want a new one just pay a few bucks for shipping send them back the old one and its free!
this video says all! hope i helped!

Zagg is by far the best imho
I had ZAGG on mine for several months. It worked great. I took it off because I didn't like the feeling of it compared to the "glass" feel. I've had it off for a couple months and still no scratches and I like the phone a lot better without it.
I just tried the new anti-glare version from zagg, it was horrible!!! It was like looking through crystallized glass, especially when there was white background. I went back to the original zagg and love it.
I use the one that came with my OtterBox. I thought I was going to hate it but rarely even notice its there any more.
Clarivue. Can barely tell the difference between it and the glass. Just bought my gf some generic ones off Amazon for her shift and the quality was really good for a quarter of the price. Don't think I'll be buying the name brand versions anymore but if I did I'd go with clarivue.

I also use the one that came with my Otterbox case. Before that I also used Invisashield(Spellcheck ).
The touch screen is more prone to breaking from pressure or impact then from scratching.

I have to say Zagg is the best. For one, if you have them (or someone like best buy mobile install it) both the screen protector and the installation have a lifetime warranty. Meaning if your screen starts to peel off, take it back to Zagg get a new one free, and get the new one put on for free!
i dont like screen protectors and cases and mi phone is perfect but depends how you use it
i've used an the otterbox one for a bit and then a zagg when that wore off but now i have SGP STEINHEIL anti fingerprint one. i didnt really care bout the fingerprint part but liked that it was slightly matte so its wayyy easier to see with sunglasses on
I'm using the one that I came with the otterbox. It has been on since September, with heavy use/abuse. Its just barely starting to peel at the corners.

Zagg since launch day. Has a couple of pretty decent "marks", but when the screen is on you cannot even notice it. It is the only protection that I use. No peeling so far.

Zagg! You cant beat the warranty if something does happen to it. If you can find a kiosk let them install it. Its the only thing I will let someone else work on my phone.

[Q] Longest Lasting Screen Protector

I really want to get a screen protector for my phone, but I don't know where to start. I want a good anti-fingerprint protector but I used some that are just horrible as in sometimes the scratch still occurred on my actual screen. As of right now, I don't have a protector but I'm very careless .
Good thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24472222
On my HD2 with a cracked screen I still have my Zagg, that is what I voted for in the poll. On my G2 I have the protector that came with otterbox case.
All my friends have zagg so i think that's the best one.
I only use Skinomi. Great fit, don't show fingerprints, and you only have to pay shipping if you ever need one replaced. If you check on Amazon you can probably find them on the cheap. They also come with good applicator spray and a squeegee so you're good to go right out of the box.
I use zagg on my sensation. Its locally available @ most malls and comes with a lifetime warranty if they apply it in stores or @ kiosk. Keep you receipt, any bubbling or inperfections, they replace without questioning. No brainer for me.
I used a Seidio one and some army type screen protector from radio Shack.. The army one was 20 and it was crap but the cheaper Seidio one on Amazon was great

I'm actually a cell phone salesman and the best that I've found all around is Zagg. You can get them online for around $10-$15 if you look around and they give a lifetime warranty, you pay $3 shipping and return your old screen if you make a claim. A lot of people complain that Zagg's shields are too rubbery, but they have different types. The anti-glare works out in the sun and is smudge proof, and they recently released HD, which is the same glossy finish, but feels like glass instead.
I've used Ghost Armor's, Otter Box's and around a million obscure off-brands from Amazon. Zagg takes the cake, hands down.
Zagg works for me...!
Got to be Zagg for sure

Yet another scratch! What's generally considered the best screen protector?

This phone apparently has the most fragile screen of any phone I've ever used, and I've already gotten two deep scratches on it just from being in my pocket alone. I'm usually a huge fan of keeping the phone naked, but this is unacceptable. I'm willing to spend at least $20-$30 for a very good screen protector that will stay in place. What's the consensus?

That question will get you tons of differing opinions. Here's mine, lol.
The Skinomi is really good. I've had them on tons of phones throughout the years and I think they've gotten better. Never had them discolor. My first ones had some orange peel but the one I just installed on my S3 is REALLY nice. No peel. I'm very pleased.
Best part is it's $3 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0084F4HY8/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
For 3 bucks, you can't go wrong in trying. If you dont like get the more pricey options. Doubt you will.

It's almost as if Samsung used a subpar glass on some models. My wife ended up with a good scratch on her screen after a few days, and we have no clue where it came from, she had been super careful with it and never had anything else in the pocket with it. I am currently using a Zagg HD screen protector (honestly cannot tell any difference compared to their old protectors). I have considered trying out one of the glass protectors as I love the feel of the naked screen, the Zagg has the typical silicone screen protector feel to it, but I deal with it because I want my screen protected.
well the only scatch i have its a dot on my home key.
and plastic border,
so unless u put ur pants with a bunch of pointy nails , or sand. it shouldnt scratch that easily
I too have a zagg hd on now and do not like it. Seems to peel up on the sides a few times a week. So are the glass ones good to go? I had read some reviews......I believe it was droid-life that said that there were dots or grids in the finished product?

I bought a Skinomi when Amazon had it on sale for $0.99, and I can't recommend it.
CONS:
1) It's an annoying wet-application that takes a few days to dry, and for all major bubbles & imperfections to go away
2) Even after it dries, a few splotchy imperfections & minor orange peel will remain, but it's not visible with the screen on.
3) It feels RUBBERY. Compared to SGP's smooth ultra crystal, skinomi is just tacky as hell.
4) It peels up at the edges over time, especially with TPU cases, but not so much with hybrid cases.
5) Fairly thick: the home button is flush
PROS:
1) It's cheap-ish
2) It's nearly full-coverage
I guess the thing I hated most about it was the tacky friction feeling as I swiped my fingers, but after it built up a layer of grease, it got better (and after you cleaned it with microfiber, went back to tacky-as-hell). Just wasn't smooth-as-glass enough for my tastes, compared to SGP.
I'm currently using the new-version SGP Ultra Crystal... and my single gripe with it is that I know it's not supposed to be full-coverage, but, it could've been made a little wider. As-is, it's almost exactly as wide as the black part of the display, so you feel the edge sometimes.

Careful, a lot of people are having sensitivity problems.

Just ordered an otterbox defender, did i make a mistake?

I recently won a bid on ebay for a note II so naturally i want to protect it the best i can. I am the type of person who can be a bit hard on phones. I drop them, sometimes things can fall on them and so on so i need good protection. I pretty much have an otterbox on everything i own so i figured i would order one for my note II. Im wondering if i made a mistake because the reviews im reading arent very good. Can anyone comment about the case on the note II? Most things im reading is the outside stretches quickly and the plastic screen protector really diminishes the quality of the screen. If this is a bad case, can someone recommend the best solution for protecting the phone AND the screen, even if its two seperate parts.
I have the otterbox for note 2. Hasn't stretched at all. It's a chore to get it off really.
My wife's gs3 otterbox has stretched. But this one is much better.
It's great for falls, but it's not sealed as much as the evo otterbox. Not sure this case would save the note 2 from a fall in the dog water bowl like evo did.

Not trying to pick on you. But statements like this make me shake my head. Big deal the case scratches. It's better the case than the phone, right? Not that I'm ignorant, and know you don't want some case that's going to look like a cat scratching toy after a month. From what I read, usually the shinny slick cases tend to show more scratches.
As for the screen, I don't think you'll notice much if any deminished screen output from the screen protector if you've been using the Otterbox Defender on previous phones. I don't think it's that likely the screen protector is that much different from other Defenders for other phones.
My guess, I think you're psyching yourself out.
When I had my otterbox, I removed the built in "screen protector" and had a zagg on it. I dont like the built in one as sand and small particles can get inbetween screen and the "protector" and when you use it. Your mashing thos into the screen. I would advise you to remove the screen protector and install your own directly onto the phone. Other than that great case.

Well, as lovely of compliment that is, either I don't know know the difference between stretch and scratch, or I wasn't paying close enough attention. Given what I wrote, the safer bet is the later. Thus, my most of drabble was not on point. But I digress....
Back to the topic at hand, As for screen protectors, I suggest checking out this thread, Screen Protector Reviews in the international GN2 subforum. It's 28 pages of this morning. I stopped reading it about a month or so ago. There was another thread, even longer, but it got removed.
Personally, I use the Just Like Glass screen protector. It's a wet application. Covers all viewable screen, but doesn't go to the edge. So cases that go over the edge won't push on it, like TPU cases with lips don't play nice with screen protectors that do go the edge. I'm not sure how the defender sits on the phone off the top of my head, so not sure if the JLG would work well or not. Since you're so rough on phones, it may be. JLG uses similar tech to hurricane glass, and claim it adds 35% shatter resistance; their numbers, not mine. It's stiff, really thin, and it feels very similar to the actual glass. I like it.
It's not perfect. It will get small scratches. I have a couple, but I rarely notice them. There is a rainbow effect that can be seen under halogen lights and the screen off. When the screen is on, you don't see it, at least I never have. It's a side effect from the UV protection the protector has. Some complain that screen protector scratches easily. I don't know how easily, but I have a few, but I don't see them when the display is on. I'm not sure if they came with one or not, but I know JLG owner was looking into getting a dry application model. Plus, unless something has changed, JLG goes give good customer service. Shoot an email to the ower, some guy named Scott, and he'll work with you as much as possible. He knows screen protector isn't for everyone.
It also works very well with the Spen. Others have had issues, from what I read, with Zagg Invisishield. The Spen sticks, unresponsive, to actaully scratching the screen protector. Some have said the Zagg's HD works well. But from what I gathered, for the Spen to work well, you'll want to get the thinner protects, which end up being less scratch resistant.
Here a picture of my GN2 shortly after I put it on:
if you click the picture, you can see a really big picture. But you can see how much of the GN2 it covers. I use a Cruzerlite TPU clear case. I'm still using the same screen protector and case, which has been close to six months.
For me, as long as the flaws are noticeable when the screen is on, it doesn't bother me. It's currently being sold for $13.50, so it's one of the more reasonable priced protectors. It only comes packaged with one protector.
Hopefully that helps.

I appreciate the reply. After doing a ton of searching, I found just about everyone who bought a SGP Ultra Oleophobic seemed to love it so I'm gonna try that. I wanted to get the just like glass but the wet application sort of scared me away. I'll report my findings when I get it and the phone.

I agree with this.

I really like zagg. They give you lifetime warranty so if protector begins to peel you can get another for free.

Not really free. You have to return the original and pay for shipping. Now Otterbox's warranty is second to none. Just send it pics of damage and they will send you out a replacement completely free of charge. Now when I bought the first black Defender I had a pretty nice gap between the built in screen protector and the phone's screen. It really was annoying especially playing games or texting. I ended up giving that one to my wife and buying the grey/white one off Amazon for $35. This one has no gap and fits like its supposed to. It's been a few months and I've had no problem with dust in screen or silicone stretching. This one seems to be built correctly. Not so much for the Defender for my EvoLTE. Been a year and I'm on my 5th one.

Otterbox Warranty: they didn't even request a picture when my evo case broke. Just took down the info and sent me a new one and told me to discard the old one.
I was amazed. Shows how much they stand behind their product.

I bought the white glacer outer box with holster and only used it one day....its too big any one wants to buy it send me a pm.

I popped out the screen protector part as dust kept getting in the stupid hole they cut in it. My phone stays in my pocket with nothing else so no scratches on the screen. If I'm going to throw my phone in my wife's bag when traveling or something like that I bring the clip to protect it. Worked for me so far..
I'm a contractor and I've put my otter box through hell, I remove it every night and have for six months and it hasn't stretched a bit. My phone is still cherry because of this case, I've dropped it 10 feet gotten concrete on it and it's coated in crap every day. Once you get used to all the iPhone kids making fun of the size it's awesome!

maybe. I think it's more from ignorance and being mindless Apple-drones.

Official Asus Screen protectors are *not so bad*

Just installed my matte protector and its killing the sensitivity big time.
I can barely type with it on. I haven't tried the glossy one but not sure I even want to.
Anyone else having any similar experiences?
Mine looks nice but feels a little more ashy then matte protectors of other brands. Unfortunately my matte came with a crease at the top right in the center. The box wasn't dented nor was the clear protector. So it must've been dented before it was packaged. This leaves a pretty big "bubble" right in the center at the top.
I also don't care for the 2 holes cut out for the camera and... ? I've used other screen protectors that just go right over them and never noticed a difference in FFC performance or quality.
So anyway, kinda disappointed. I was it being official would equal quality but I feel I could found one of this quality for much less. I might try to see if I can return it and buy one from a trusted brand (of screen protectors)
Update 24hrs:
Sensitivity returned. Dent in the SP is driving me mad
Update 48hrs:
I requested an exchange and was told no. I requested a refund and was told ok? I was going to order again but they aren't that great. I ended up buying some cheapo Matte covers 3 pack for $3.95 from "COD". Can't be any worse until something better comes along.

I actually left a bad review on them, but there seemed to be a bot down voting bad comments, so I deleted it to not hurt my account credibility. The matte protector feels sticky, and the glue on the back attracts lint like crazy, there was no way to prevent it from having hair cling on. I'm just going to leave it on until Spigen releases the matte screen protectors

Ouch that sucks. I was thinking they would be atleast half decent considering they're "official screen protectors".
Anyone has tried the glossy one? I'd like to know how that holds up. I'll be mostly ordering the Spigen Ultra Crystal. I'm not fond of matte finish.
Amazon has the clear Spigen on sale right now for $12.
If you want one order it fast. Probably a price error. They're $25 on eBay.
There is a thread with a link. I'd love to pick up a Spigen for $12 but I want the matte. Reduces glare and leaves no fingerprints. Also great for games cause it doesn't get sticky like bare glass or clear one does after a while.
I'm gonna try to get my money back. Just avoid the official ones. Its a $2 SP wrapped in Asus packaging.
[Update 24hrs]
Seems to be settling down and sensitivity is back to normal for the most part. Maybe I was jumping the gun. I guess I'll stick with it for a while

Is it different for each screen protector having air bubbles? Like do some have less than others? So for the Asus screen protector, does it have a lot when initially applied?
Sent from my Nexus 7
I had no problems with my asus screen protector, zero bubbles zero dust no sensitivity issuses. I used a soft rubber squeegee i had from previous screen protector to apply
Reason i got the asus one is it was the only one out at the time
Its a thicker screen protector so its not terrible. I had no problems with air bubbles, just the dent at the top which is a defect from the manufacture. If it weren't for that, it would be flawless.
The sensitivity has returned so maybe it had some sort of drying period, I dunno. Last night it was horrible.
Because it's installed good, I'm just going to give it a few days of usage and see how it fares. Now that the screen is responsive again, I'll probably just leave it on until I have to replace it for some reason.
It has more fingerprints then I'd like, compared to Spigen brand, but it it is a 1000x better then the mess left on the glass after an hour of usage. Spigen uses a special fingerprint resistive layer with theirs.
I'm satisfied with it for now. Can't complain I guess for 2 protectors for $14. Spigens are on sale for $12 on amazon but Matte isn't available yet and they typically run $25ish plus shipping.
With this at least I have a backup I can use if this one magically ignites in flames or something. I haven't tested how scratch proof it is yet either.

That's good to hear.
I changed the topic title since it appears to be getting better.
If you want matte get the bestskinsever one. I have the smooth for the screen and the matte for the back. I might get the matte for the front because it glides very well and doesn't pick up finger prints very much.

I got mine in the mail today and just tried to install it. Sadly I had major issues with the installation of the clear one. A slight misalignment caused one corner to overlap the edge and not stick. Because the adhesive is super sticky the minute you try to pull it up and try again, your screwed cause anything and everything starts to stick to it. Probably my biggest mistake was not using the hinge method. I went ahead and installed the matte one that way and that went on no issues at all. Just not a fan of the screen being dulled out but for now ill have to deal with it. I will probably keep this on for a bit and if anything, return it back to amazon for a refund.
The clear one looks to be more of a fingerprint magnet than the actual screen itself.
Chances are this will get returned as soon as my case comes in a few days. For a tablet I really don't need anything on the screen as I rarely take my tablets out of the house.
What would be the best way to get a refund on these from Amazon? I'm a little upset that I paid $20 for a glorified $5 eBay screen protector
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Go to your account and request one.
Pretty simple...
to get the shipping charges back i usually claim they are defective. Haven't had an issue yet
Yea I asked for a refund saying they were defective too.
Funny thing is that I asked for an exchange and the seller denied me, saying they won't take it back once it was opened, and to contact Asus Warranty for a Warranty repair (ON A SCREEN PROTECTOR!).
Anyway I chatted with 4 different Asus reps, all of which were completely retarded. One even said Asus doesn't make screen protectors. I had to post a link to Amazon and ask, "what are these". One lady chatted with me for like 39 minutes, asking questions and being all concerned, only to tell me I was in the wrong department chat room (for tablets) and that I needed to be in Multimedia?! Obviously Multimedia wasn't correct and redirected me back to tablets. Basically they said if I had them "repaired" I could be a repair fee since it would be considered customer related damage?!
I just went on Amazon and asked for a refund. The screen protector itself isn't bad, but mine was bent out of the box and doesn't sit right.
I ordered these, which are $3.95 for a 3x Pack.

They are Matte and probably suck, but oh well. The worst thing is that they have a hole for the notification light?! Why a light needs to not be covered is beyond me. They have really good reviews, which I'm assuming is combined with their OG N7 reviews.
I haven't found 1 decent Matte Screen Protector that I've liked so far. Why can't they just make one solid sheet of plastic to cover the whole screen? My OG N7 Spigen was like that and it worked great. Waiting on a SGP Spigen Ultra Fine (matte) to come out. They know how to make a good SP.
[UPDATE]
Well I accidentally ordered another official screen pack too and was delivered today. I thought I cancelled it but whatever. The new one isn't damage and went on flawless using the hinge method. I give up. Sticking with it.
The second one is iffy with screen sensitivity again. Must be a drying period. Seems after the first day it becomes responsive again. So give it time if its wonky at first.
I'll keep the COD brand as backups. Got $50 in screen protectors now... damn it.
