Flashable hardware keyboard map for developer.
My job System admin drive me crazy with Desire Z / G2 hardware keyboard because of it's missing many keys which required to type many linux commands. So I desired to re-map some keys and share this for everyone who have same need

Hi,
I have a Desire Z from Singapore...
Your mod worked only after I apply the changes on files
vision-keypad-sea.kcm
vision-keypad-sea.kl
The desire Z is the same, the keymap is the same, but it reports to the system to use the *sea* files.
I think the Hong-kong ones (vision-keypad-hk.kcm) occurs the same...
Also, key ? reports wrongly '(' for alt+? (should be ") on sea and hk files. It is wrongly not on your mod, but on the Aokp rom. I reported it on aokp rom topic and fixed on my device.

While I don't have any particular use for this, I was wondering if this would be helpful in recovering the shortcut functionallity which was lost when flashing a non-stock ROM...?

I'm using a flashable package contain my customized stuffs such as: keyboard layout, pre-installed apps like: Titanium backup, ES File manager, gps config and some personalized settings such as: localize, time zone, adfree hosts file... to restore everything after flash a new ROM.

You need to find out which keycode present for 2 user keys. You can use KeyEvents Display app on Google Play Store to get scan code of these keys: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=aws.apps.keyeventdisplay
And then re-map your keyboard layout => reboot, and it should work fine.

I think it is possible but ATM I can not find scan code for emoji key. And I'm not sure that default framework and Android system allow we to activate that popup using hardware keyboard.

I know you said you tested it with ICS - any idea if this works with Froyo? The keymapping has also been bugging me like crazy.

Hey everyone. First, a huge thank you to tiger for getting me thinking in this direction and providing the excellent base files.
I've made a slight mod to his to fit my typing style. I tend to use the left ALT and SHIFT heavily, so having that be control was cramping me a bit.
my bind (changes) are as follows:
left alt: left alt
left shift: left shift
right alt: right ctrl
right shift: escape
camera button: app_switch
i love having 1 button app switch even at the cost of the camera button.
also in testing this i found out that ICS actually responds to ALT-TAB on the DZ keyboard which is kinda funny.
a final note: i was lazy and didn't update the script in the flashable zip to reflect the new binds, so please disregard that if you try this out.
The keys don't appear to take effect on the EliteMod Rom, particularly the USR# keys.

since the change log says it's newer with support for ^.

i am on sabsa prime v 12 and got a htc desire z (austria)

Look like EliteMod using same keymap with AOKP as #2 or you are using different locate setting (mine is WWE).
I've updated #1, please re-read and post your missing keycode here.
FYI, I using this mod for my current ROM: Flinny JB CM 10.1 and it work well. Tested and works with: CM9 unofficial, AOKP, Andromadous mimicry and flinny (ICS, JB, JB CM10.1).

I've made an application that allows simple mapping / binding exe files to X Panel Button (via editing registry file, SOFTWARE\\SonyEricsson\\PanelManager)
I think that using my X Mapper is faster and easier then manual editing registry...
Instruction:
1. if it's first time do Backup of registry entry and panelmanager.lnk in StartUp folder!
a) (go to Menu->Backup->Save)
b) (Menu->panelmanager.lnk->beckup before delete)
2. then we have to delete panelmanager.lnk from our StartUp folder
(Menu->panelmanager.lnk->try to delete)
3. Choose one from available Events:
- Run Program (allows to run program)
- Run Program with Argument (allows to run any other application but with additional argument (uses my RWA app, see my signature)
- Toggle WiFi (changes state of Wifi Adapter, uses external exe)
- Toggle BT (changes state of BT Adapter, uses external exe)
- Lock (devicelock.exe is executed)
4. if Run Program / Run Program with Argument is selected then press: "Choose File" button, the Open File dialog form will be showed, navigate for file, choose file by tapping on it's name, then press OK,
5. from Menu select: Save chosen settings,
6. then softreset (Menu->Soft Reset) and enjoy !
You can restore all made backups with:
Menu->Beckup->Recover (for default registry entry), or
Menu->panelmanager.lnk->recover link for default panelmanager link in Windows StartUp folder...

When I need to choice file which I want to run with Mapper, each time I go in some folder it return number of files inside that folder in message box. I don't think this information is important to end user.

Hmm. I tried it but it won't work.
Disabled the panelmanager like instructed, changed the registry setting. When I press the panelbutton, I just get the error that no panelmanager.exe can be found.
Can you tell me what exactly is changed using this app? Is it just the registry key?
If so, it's basically just a GUI for the "known" way to reroute the panelbutton, which doesn't seem to work for me anymore.

use X1BC for full key binding...

X1BC isn't going to fix the problem either, it can't prevent the message. I think the button is captured before any applications can get to it.

did U do every step in instruction ? (did You save settings ? , then did You delete panelmanager.lnk from startup (or autostart) folder ? and then softreset ? if Yes...)

Yes ,of course,auto enabled if you have a ext partition on your sdcard.

I've tested for a long time and all functions works well,if you got some problem with root,please do a full wipe and try again.thx
remove android_audio.mp3 in /data/local to disable the bootsound

Don't select any theme at the first boot,just press back button,then other crashes only show once and never again.
Use adb push command to push your font in ,if any font pack not working.

How can I change the Lock Screen pic? it is not allowing me from Personalise, there is no option.

Change background in lockscreen is posible to do with MyModes, but gallery FC when I try it.
I try it also directly from gallery but it have same result, FC.
I have any other issue: trackball dont flash for notification.
Nice ROM, but one issue... I can't set a photo as lock screen wallpaper. Press Save in gallery and gallery FC.

So the TUT:
1) Download the Files
2) Extraced the .Zip File --> There must be a .APK File and a .So File (At the HTC are two .apk)
3) Copy that to Youre SD-Card
4) Use a Root Explorer or a other Explorer with Root Rights
5) Copy the .APK(´s) to system/app
6) Copy the .So to system/lib
7) Reboot
8) Go to Settings --> Locale and Text --> Select input method
9) And then choose the Input Methode --> In case of Multitouch Keyboard --> Multitouchkeyboard ^^
*Edit for HTC Keyboard: No need to push you can also install the .apk´s ( HTC_IME & Clicker )
In a few Days i also will Post some update.zip Files and a revert
The normal Samsung Keyboard will be there after the Change!! Only change at the Settings back to the Samsung Keyboard if you doesn´t like those Keyboards

DROIDX KEYBOARDS ARE ONLY FOR FROYO USERS!!!!
You can only use one of them when you install a other Keyboard the other doesn´t work anymore

Since FroYo came, there's been a strange bug in swype. Cannot add following words to NORWEGIAN dictionary:

They work in other dictionaries (but not Norwegian), and on JM9 Eclair they work in the Norwegian dictionary too - strange.

Hi,
I just followed your instructions to install the stock keyboard and it'd been like all other times, I'm encountering some problem.
when i select the android keyboard as my input method, this pops up:
The application Android keyboard (process com.android.inputmethod.latin) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
And I'm given only one option which is to force close it.
Did you guys encountered this before? Any help that can be given to me?

I just extracted the black droid keyboard from a custom rom, installed via file manager and im using it now with no problems. Just selected the English language in the settings menu.

It's me again.
For those of you that do like the Samsung Keyboard, however are frustrated with the lack of a comma in the first page of the keyboard, worry no more.
I won't bore you with many details.
Features
Replaced Settings key for Comma key
Longpress on Comma will give you Exclamation mark "!"
Longpress on Period will give you Question Mark "?"
Long press on ?123 key will give you the pop up with key symbols
[*]Comma button now adds automatically a space after the comma
[*]Revamped popup key with symbols, added a new layout there
[*]Revamped emoticons popup, rearranged to have the most used emoticons at the bottom row for ease of access
To Do list
Popup key delay down to 500ms from 1second
Bugs
The comma within the comma key now looks smaller due to adding the feature of the extra space after it. Probably is not fixable (could be, but i cannot work on that atm since it's not that imporant.

################NOTE################If your language is included in the above versions, yet you cannot seem to change layout (either stay in the normal English character layout or simply nothing happens when you change language) that's due to lack of T9DB files.
Every CSC includes a T9DB (T9 database) folder, which in return includes all character layouts for the keyboard itself. If you have the problem stated above, you need to find a T9DB folder from a ROM that used to have your character layout, and copy that into your current T9DB folder (/system/T9DB). PLEASE SHARE THE T9DB FOLDER - i will be trying to make a unified T9DB for those that have issues switching language.

thanks for that but could you include question mark in the first “page” of the keyboard ? same as android keyboard ..
I could do that, however that would mean losing one key. Either comma or the dot.
Will see if i can add one more key next to the dot, but that's going to take some fiddling.
I am working on another mod at the moment, so this is not on my priority list. I will experiment on this today, if it works, all is well. If not, later on i will do it.
make the "?123", less wider, and just to diplay a "@" or whatever u want, there u can fit another key without shriking the rest...

I think i will end up shrinking the "?123" button, moving space bar a bit to the left, period as well, and add another key next to that. Because i don't want to accidentally place question marks when i wanted to hit commas.

There are way too many differences. I am afraid I cannot unite the two packages into one, i will release this as a separate keyboard.
Give me a few minutes and it will be up.
edit: I can give a small how-to, but I'm already working on another mod (apart this and the TW mod) and am pretty dizzy atm to write down guides. I will do it in the days to follow I'd like to hear suggestions though! What people want to be added or not.

Yea, thats very very old. Even before i actually got my device The large space bar and all.
I don't have the T9DB files to check for Farsi, Arabic or Urdu, so you're basically going to be my test subject
I've given the first page the exact same layout as the screenshots in the first post, so you won't have a space bar as big.

HOW TO INSTALL
1 Copy the zip to the SD card
2 Turn off the phone
3 Turn on the CWM
4 Select "install zip from sdcard"

8 Select the options wipe data / factory reset
9 Select the option "Reboot system now."

I'm sorry, but I don't think that's changelog. That's bug list. Afaik Changelog tells you any changes that are made from the previous version.
Previous version did not create
So I can not speak about the changes
Someone who had a previous version can write something like that
just minor changes, it just from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2.

I have noticed quite a few spelling errors in this Settings portion of this ROM and would like to correct them. Can anyone tell me how I might do that?
At a guess I need to:
1 - Unpack the Zip file the ROM is packaged in;
2 - Decompile the Settings APK (assuming there is such a file);
3 - Edit the file(s) containing the spelling errors;
4 - Recompile the Settings APK;
5 - Copy the recompiled Settings APK onto the phone in place of the original APK.
Note that I don't actually know how to do step 4 but I believe I'd use the APK Toolkit?

I'm glad to hear that you're making improvements to the appearance of this ROM. I thinik it already looks good but with some words spelled incorrectly and some screens not themed at all there is definitely room for improvement.
My interest is in English since that's my native language. Do you want me to list the spelling mistakes I have found and other things I think need improvement? One obvious fault is that when you select Operators in the Network list of options, the screen you then see has not been themed at all.
Here's a sample of spelling mistakes and other errors I see:
(1) On the lockscreen there is no space between the day of the week and the date;
(2) In the Normal list of options, "Langauge&IME" should be "Language & IME";
(3) In the Personal Manage list of options, "Date Backup" should be "Data Backup". In fact "Personal Manage" should probably read "Personal Management" but that's a matter of opinion.

While I have the attention of some forum members ( ) I'll ask another question: is it possible to specify icons for specific applications? I find that some applications' icons are hard to see in the default Joy Home launcher. For the moment I have actually switched to using the Xperia 10 launcher made available here in the GS5660 application and theming forum. I have found some icon themes which include better icons for some applications but I don't know how to force Joy Home to use them instead.
Does anyone know how to achieve what I want?
For now i'm theming the framework and making some improvement to the rom like bln full working, gps patch etc... will see a release soon

I can, but I can't do it all myself, its too much and im busy with school etc..
You can use apktranslationtool by elsvignolo to translate the xml (it includes many dictionary) but you have to compile with apktool ..
I quite like the Joy Clock app because it has so many useful functions, including a World Clock. In the World Clock though the names of all the countries are in Chinese characters and I need them in English. Is it possible to have this changed?
