Samsung 10.1 Keyboard

The first time that I put the tab in the dock it worked perfect. It controlled the tab perfectly, it was awesome. Ever since the first time it has been very difficult to get working. It automatically goes to the clock and wont let me get to the home screen. Does anyone have any idea what im doing wrong? if i am.
It seems to me they would of put a little more thought into this issue before they released it.

wait for touchwiz OTA, it wont be too long & it might fix all these keyboard bugs.
I am patiently awaiting its release. The videos of it on YouTube make it seem worth the cost. I would stay away from expansys though. They tend to be a bit misleading about their lead time in getting things in stock. I ordered something that was supposed to be in stock in a week and it took several. I ultimately cancelled my order and got what I wanted directly from Samsung. Samsung needs to push out their accessories at the time of product release. Had they done this with the keyboard it may have reduced the positive buzz that the transformer has received...

yea i see what you mean
the accessories for the tab 10.1 were supposed to be in stock today, they been pushed to in 5 days
I posted this on the other thread. The fix is to go into settings/privacy/factory reset.
This will erase everything you have on your tablet: movies/books/apps/data/etc.
After the factory reset, the dock should work consistently. I was told by a samsung twitter service to do this, and it's been working so far for me.

Yeah, that's the most annoying thing about the otherwise excellent (and compact) keyboard dock. Luckily, restarting the Tab is pretty fast. If the TouchWiz update fixes the keyboard issues, I'm willing to install it (but have no other interest in it whatsoever).

VZW GNex. Will getting a replacement fix this?

So I'm one of the unfortunate users that has the stupid mic muting issue. I've just been dealing with it and waiting to see if a update from vzw ends up fixing it. Well, it's been five months and still no update. I rooted my phone immediately after the first time I ran into the problem. I'm on the 4.0.4 radio now and it's still there.
So has anybody had luck switching out devices? It sucks because my screen is beautiful and the call muting issue is the only one I have. Should I go through the hassle of getting a replacement?
Edit* crap, can a mod move this to q/a.

I've never had this issue on my LTE GNex. I don't believe its a common issue. I would definitely get it replaced.
what exactly happens that mutes it, and for how long? does it happen when you are not holding the phone?
reason i ask, is the microphone is a tiny hole on the bottom of the phone, and if you hold the phone like many do, with a finger underneath, even slightly blocking this hole will completely mute the microphone out.

To all Verizon Galaxy Nexus users who have no idea what issue we are talking about, read the following:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24019
It basically happens on full signal (with LTE and/or CDMA turned off and on), stationary or moving, under bluetooth + speaker + ear piece while physically holding the phone or not, makes our voice turn into a choppy robotic sound and we can hear them but the other party can't hear me.
Only resolution to this problem is hang up and call again.
There is a huge variation among devices, some has this issue as soon as 5 seconds into a phone call, some have it well into 15 mins or even 40 mins into a call. Some happens basically on every other call, some happens once in a bluemoon.
Yes, we've all tried every single ROMs and radios. And yes, we are not holding it wrong to cover our mic with our finger tips.
And yes, it is not user error because it happened to all 2 new gnex and 2 refurbished replacements STOCK without any apps on it. I got mine to happened on pretty much the entire state of california (I travel very frequently from SoCal to NorCal)
The only reason a few might not face this issue is simply because 1) either they picked the cream of the crop out of all these affected devices 2) not using the GNex as a phone as much as some of us do.
I simply do not use GNex for business purposes...
To OP, getting a replacement might help a little but no promises.
Man I'd have replaced it long ago. I would imagine it's hardware related or they would've pushed an OTA to fix it. I read somewhere that Verizon stated an update would be sent out that would fix it, but I'm not buying it.

Yeah I'm just scared to swap it out and receive one with a ****ty screen. Plus I have a invisible shield on here. And there's no guarantee it will be resolved. Has anyone had any luck with swapping them out? I really don't want to switch to a different phone. I've waited for a nexus device to hit verizon for so long.

Ya know, honestly, I'm not all that impressed with the phone. I've only had it a couple weeks, but it doesn't do anything better than the Epic 4G Touch that I came from. The E4GT was awesome, the Sprint network, not so much. The camera and battery life were just so much better and I'm struggling with that.

Gotcha Bro
FNM
I just got off the phone with VZW about this very issue. They said they have a release tentatively scheduled for May, but "tentatively" could end up being August. It's a known issue so, there's no workaround for it and getting a replacement probably won't help.
The only thing they could possibly offer is switching to another device altogether. Spec-wise, the Galaxy Nexus is at the top for me so I don't want another phone. (frustration)
Alas, depending on what's important to you, you may just be better off waiting for the update. :-(

I know it's kind of a old thread but wanted to update my experiences.
I am on my second replacement now and I'm sticking with it. I've had the issue maybe 3 times in the month I've had it. My first replacement had a terrible screen, crappy signal, and the muting issue happened just as frequently as before if not more.
I'm assuming this will never be spoken of by Samsung since we've already had the phone almost a year with no acknowledgement. I just hope the next nexus is a different manufacturer (HTC especially) since every Samsung phone I've had has had issues with the actual phone part. My first being the fascinate and now this. Especially since if I want to upgrade from now on ill end up paying full price.

I have had the same problem.
I've gone through 2 replacements and still the same issues have occurred. The update that was supposed to fix this was released in May and it fixed nothing. I called Verizon several times asking what will be done about this. Their answer is that another update will fix this. I frankly don't believe it.
Verizon also told me that Samsung is aware and they're "actively" working on a fix.
Being that I use this phone to make business calls, I can't have a phone that I can't depend on. Their answer: We can give you the RAZR. Not the RAZR Maxx - the RAZR.
I said that won't work because the RAZR doesn't compare to my phone as far as specs go. It's worth 200 less than my phone on their website.
The only phone that compares to mine is the Galaxy S3. Not to mention, I flat-out don't like the RAZR (or the RAZR Maxx). They said they couldn't give me the S3 because the phone was just released.
So, in short, I'm VERY upset with Verizon, because I don't feel like I'm being treated fairly. I'm willing to wait for this so called fix they will push out since my warranty is until December and they claim they'll get it right this time. But if this doesn't work....well, I feel sorry for whichever Customer Rep catches my evil side lol.
Yeah they are gonna get an earful tomorrow when I call. I've had the phone maybe 18 days and it didn't start this until day 11 and ever since its been non stop. I don't think any of us should suffer through calling 10-15 times per 30 minute conversation.

Exact same story they told me. I'm in my 5th device. 1st one camera broke completely and signal issues. 2nd one screen had a nasty yellow tint on half the screen. 3rd one had the worst screen I had ever seen. I wish I would have taken pictures to show. 4th one was great till the ear speaker completely went out and the speaker broke. 5th one that I currently have has a beautiful screen with no issues so far.

No GPS fix then no OTA update

I have had my share of frustration with this phone....
First my gps would not fix at all, even after 15 minutes. I tried all the apps (gps status, gps aids, gps fix), all the hacks like resetting a-gps, then the sprint store told me it was a software issue from Samsung and should be solved by the ICS update. Then I got the ICS update and still no gps. I took it back to the store and again they told me it was software, not hardware, and they basically told me I had to root it to get it to work. So I did that and, although I loved AOKP, no gps. I tried different gps hacks and apps like faster fix and nothing. I yelled at sprint on the phone and finally some one agreed to send me a new phone. I got the new phone and, voila, gps fixed instantly. Even my 3g signal was better. So, moral of the story was that the gps issues I read so much about online are indeed a hardware issue. Samsung sold ****ty phones.
Anyway, my new phone came with gingerbread installed. When I activated the phone, the tech guy told me I should be getting ICS in a day or two. That was three days ago. I read a rumor that Sprint stopped pushing the update because of bugs. Is that true?
Sorry I sound so angry, but I am

I was wondering the same about the OTA update to ICS if anyone knows what's going on with it. Sprint technician told me the same exact thing. My brother's phone (identical -- SPH-D710 Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch) updated to ICS within 2 hours. It has been almost 2 weeks and I'm still on EL29 GB. I would like to know whats going on because I can still return my phone for a new one (within 14-day period with Sprint) until Wednesday.

According to a sprint rep, answering questions in the sprint community, otas are suspended for the time being. No reason given.
There are threads here with links to the ota file from google if you're interested. Its the same as if the ota pushed to your phone.

Ya, might as well not do anything...Keep everything as it is and it was given to you and be happy. Don't mess with anything or attempt to change anthing and nothing will change and if it does you can go blame someone (Sprint or Sammy) and try for some recourse from them.
Some people come to this development forum expecting it to be a 'just fix it for me type of place' or 'support forum' where they can ask a questiong and expect to be spoon fed a response.
Remember if you do anything different you might not like the results you get.
OR
You could try to try some of the great ROMs, tweaks and add-ons provided here freely and you might find what you're looking for. Like I said best place to start is sfhub's stock rooted ICS FF18.
I get pretty damn good battery anywhere from 10-12 hours of actual use (usually about 3-4 hours screen time) phone calls, loads of mail and texts, and about 1/4 to 1/3 of that time is on 4G! It's not the 24hrs I got on GB but the UI and other applications are well worth it for me. If you can't get good batter life then there are MANY things that can be done to extend it if you are willing to search this great forum and apply/try some suggestions.
Many don't care that they can learn to do just about anything they want with their device if they choose to. And collaborate with great developers and other like minded people who are willing to try out the latest cutting edge techologies and work on fixing the annoyances and issues the big guns (Samsung/Sprint) won't - like batter life, speed and performance.
Hope you find what your looking for. Good luck.

Zero Bars in my House

Hi guys,
My Galaxy Nexus running stock 4.2.2 started getting zero bars reception in my house in about mid December. At the time, I hadn't done anything different to it, so I assumed it would go away over time, so I focused on my final exams instead. Flash forward to today, it's been months since I have had reception on my phone. This is a really big problem for me, as I can't even take phone calls or send/receive texts. I've been using Rogers One Number and Whatsapp through WiFi to get by, and it sucks.
My brother has the same phone, and I helped him flash the Google stock ROM, so hes running same everything as me. I've tried plugging his Sim into mine and my phone still gets zero bars (his is fine). I've tried plugging my Sim into an old Samsung dumbphone, and it was fine. I don't remember if I tried my brothers phone... I will if I have to.
I had no problems for the months I owned the phone leading to December (since about March last year). I've tried scouring the forums for solutions, but I get flooded with Verizon reception problems... I'm in Canada on Rogers, and had my phone working well until December, so it's not the right problem.
According to the secret menu, it says I have -107dBm (fluctuating to -111dBm within the typing of this message), 1 asu. I have no idea what that means, but I see everyone always posting this with reception issues. I've tried doing a backup and a factory reset, with no results. I've tried flashing to stock 4.1 with no results. This leads me to believe it's a hardware issue, so I tried opening it up to see if the antenna was loose; it was not.
Please tell me what kind of additional information I need to provide for you guys to try to help me. Am I supposed to try flashing a new radio? Which am I supposed to use if I'm in Vancouver, BC on Rogers?
I found this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163312&page=), with a magical solution of waiting the next day. Unfortunately, I've been waiting for months.
Regards,
Eddy.

There was also this incident that happened last year that I posted about, but it quickly went away after the "squeeze" solution. I've tried the squeeze solution since then, and even opening it up to check the antenna with no results.

Sounds like a hardware issue. If its within warranty, have it replaced or do an insurance claim if you have it.

Unfortunately, I have neither options, as I purchased it new through Craigslist. I'm capable of opening it up, and would be happy to replace parts... does anyone know where I can find out what parts I would need in such a scenario as well as where I could purchase?

Awaiting N7 random restart and reboot solution

For those not following this but the Google support forum is getting very long on the random restart and reboot thread.
Suggest you read it before buying. If you buy try to replicate or test for the gps, multi touch or restart issues.
Many of us are awaiting a response from Google on the restart issue other than Paul telling us how to submit a bug report.

No surprise at all to those of us on that forum.
This has been a real mess for Google/ASUS, and the best way to deal with us 'statistically insignificant' owners is to just ignore and hope we'll go away (or, in some cases, fix it ourselves, which voids the warranty - they can then refuse service).
Either way, they win - we lose.

Because that was the cause for the reboots on mine. Had at least half a dozen reboots a day before uninstalling, and now gone about a week without a single reboot after uninstalling.

Same here.
Uninstalled all updates, and even disabled it.
Still freezing many, many times a day with the occasional reboot (thankfully only in its sleep).
Much worse after the 15Q 'update'.
