[Q] Best game on the Xperia Play? [No Emulators] - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I will start with my top five games for the Play:
#1 - I think the best game on the Xperia Play is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard. To me this game was the most enjoyable on the Play, though it was a bit difficult even on the easiest setting. I got stuck very late in the game.
#2 - I think the next best game is Gameloft's Modern Combat 3.
#3 - The third best game I think is a toss up between Asphalt 6 or Eternal Legacy. I will give Eternal Legacy the nod simply because Asphalt was too difficult to complete.
#4 - That means Asphalt is the number four.
#5 - Lastly would be Spider-Man: Total Mayhem.
I'm a huge soccer fan, but I am yet to play a good soccer game on the play. FIFA 12 shot itself in the arm with the lack of the D-pad for controlling your player as well as the annoying touch-driven commands to take free-kicks, penalties, corners etc. I don't get why developers don't realize that the whole reason people bought the Play is because they don't like touch-oriented games when it comes to serious gaming. Sure it's OK [not perfect] in Temple Run and Angry Birds, but I did not buy my Play with a slide-out gamepad to play Angry Birds or Temple Run. I bought it actually to play a good game of FIFA!
Also, every single one of my top five games have been Gameloft games. It amazes me that there are people who dislike Gameloft. I understand that they imitate other developers but they are, in my opinion, the best developer of mobile games. Their games bring the closest experience of console-like games to mobile platforms. Kudos to them. By the way, most games are inspired by other games. Sure Gameloft copies other games closely and sometimes not very well [an example being the Gangstar franchise,] however Gameloft developed Eternal Legacy, an RPG that I found more enjoyable than Square Enix's last two console offerings, FF13 and FF13-2. In fact, Eternal Legacy was more reminiscent of an old school Square game, with old school turn based combat and allowing you to control each character in battle.
Ok that's just a side note, however.
So Rainbow Six is my favorite game, what's yours?

Asphalt 6 was too difficult to complete? Unless complete means 275 stars, then I don't believe that. Even getting 275 stars wasn't that bad :O Anyways, thanks for listing the games, I'll look in to these as I haven't played them.

Yeah I meant to get all the stars and unlock all the cars. And hey, could you give me an actual "thanks" by hitting the thank button if you thought the post was helpful. Cheers.

you can play fifa 12 with no touch screen controls, just select casual controls on options, but theres no fix for the dpad, i would prefer the dpad but the analog isn't that bad either, what i dont like the most is i cant change controls to shoot to goal with square and center with circle.
My favorite games are:
1) Fifa 12
2) virtua tennis
3) Gta III

When I referred to touch controls I meant the "touch pads" not touch screen. I dislike not being able to shoot with traditional buttons, too.

i ment you can use the circle button to take free kicks and the triangle to take thrown ins if you select casual controls on options, i found out recently, i believed casual controls ment easier passes or something for beginners, but is for this, is great to be able to use all with the physical controls

1. Asphalt 6
2. Modern Combat 3
3. Age of Zombies
4. Gunman Clive
5. Riptide GP

A bit too much Gameloft-only for my taste. Here are some of mines:
-Sonic CD
-Dead Space
-Galaxy on Fire 2
-ShadowGun
-Zenonia 3 (The 4th is some horrible money-grab attempt)

Best Android Games?

Now that I have a Epic, and not that old hero, I can do 3D gaming! so what are your Favs? Mine so far are.
Raging Thunder 2
Sandstorm.
Paper Toss
Angry Birds.
Definitely have the emulators game boid etc.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
My long-time favorite Android games are Wixel and Word Mix; both have free versions. But in terms of games that can take advantage of the Epic's power, well... I haven't gotten any really demanding Android games yet. Air Control works a lot better than it did on my Moment though.
I think emulation is really the way to go. Especially now that you have a keyboard!
Nova, quake 3, asphalt 5 and crusade of destiny all work and look great.
Yes, Crusade of Destiny.. The game I love to hate playing. so much leveling it's crazy.
Best game would have to be caligo chaser. check it out if your into side scrolling RPG's.
I like air control, drop, and paper toss.. just some simple games I can play to pass time and boredom when at work or out n about.

Angry Birds and Robo Defense
Angry Birds

OpenTyrian
Super K.O Boxing 2
and The Inferno!
I've only tried a few, but my favorite so far, by a fair margin, is Homerun Battle 3D.

[Q] Worth playing games ?

Hi, could any gaming veteran advice some good positions for playing of various gender? I mean some good 4x strategy like Master of Orion, racing, shooter, survival horror, adventure and at the and some platform.
I am also interested in games like Roguelike RPG (ADOM), Heroes of Might and Magic and any other adjusted from PC to our pocket station .
Thanks

I'm guessing English isn't your first language. The line about "good positions for playing of various gender." Makes absolutely no sense, so it's hard to understand what you are asking. Do you want some good game recommendations?

Yes it is not my first language very good perception, however you guessed very well what I meant (and very good imagination), anyway I've a little complicated the grammar and sorry for that.
Exactly, the question is: what games can you recommend to me. I am interested in all the types.
Thanks a lot once again and forgive me next puzzles if any...

OK, the games I have installed right now are asphalt 2, cubes free(kinda old school graphics, but lots of fun), gun bros (one of my favorites), heavy gunner, nfs shift, spectral souls (very expensive, but well put together turn based RPG), squible (it was the first game on the market that captured my attention), zenonia 1 and 2 (Zelda style RPG) and also live holdem pro(free live poker game, very addicting)

I think the word you are looking for is "genre", not gender. Genre is a group or category of something, and gender is sex (like male or female).
In any case, Pocket Legends is pretty cool, but the games I limit myself to these days are Angry Birds, Slice It and Wordfeud...all puzzle type games.
-- B
I'm a gamer myself and have literally tried every game available on android. Pocket legends is pretty fun to have for a portable mmorpg. It has some obvious tones similar to world of warcraft. Another fun rpg is crusade of destiny. Its got great graphics and fun gameplay and kept me busy for a couple of weeks. Spectral souls is a well made game for sure but its more one of those strategy rpgs that lacks the ability to fully control the player. It reminds me more of an amped up chess game so it wasn't my taste.
Also if you're running a high end device, which I can assume you are because you're in this forum, I can reccommend any of the gameloft games. They aren't available on the market so you'll need to visit their site. Just google gameloft. They are a little pricey and some of the games can be a little buggy at times but as far as graphis go and playability there is little comparison out there. Games like splinter cell, hawx, modern combat 2, and avatar come in high definition formats and stick pretty close to the full size counterparts.
Other than that you should bury your gaming urges in one of the several well made emulators on the market. A lot of good games from the days past and some fun memories too!
Happy gaming!

Another game I would highly recommend is Project INF. It's a top down multiplayer shooter. Somewhat addictive once you get into it.
I think someone already mentioned it but GunBros is also a good shooter game.
EA also has a bunch of mainstream titles on Android like Sims 3 and FIFA 10.
I hate to support companies that refuse to support Android by refusing to put their apps on the market but Gameloft really has some of the best Android games. I currently have Modern Combat 2 and for an FPS with 3D graphics running on a phone, it's absolutely stellar! It even has multiplayer. Not sure about the price but I think I got it for $3.99 or $4.99. Just Google "gameloft".

Have you even looked into the reason WHY gameloft games are not on the market? It has nothing to do with them not supporting android.
It has to do with the fact that they have different .apk's for different gpus in different phones, the games are optimized for specific gpu's, that's why they look so good. The market doesn't allow multiple apk's or detect phone gpus so they can't put it up there properly.

Wow i have both of them original versions ,please tell me how they can be launched on the our little machines and if they are not too slow?
By the way i am still looking forward ADOM and Fallout distribution if it is possible.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Yeah I would kill for Fallout, never really got into the BG series. As such I don't own the first one, and after reading more gemRB is only allows bg2 demo, so didn't bother.
Free Heroes 2 on the other hand, works pretty well. Was just playing some Heroes of Might and Magic 2.
Quick run down on what you have to do.
Download Free Heroes 2 on your g2/desire z
Install HoMM2 on your computer, go into the game files, copy the data folder, go into your sd card and put the data folder in "app-data/net.sourceforge.fheroes2"
You will most likely have to make the sourceforge folder.
Now start the game, make sure the "where to download application data" tab is pointed to your sd card, and then go to "downloads" tab, click game data I guess? Then dl midi music and essential map pack, get the additional and mega map pack if you wish, and any of the translations.
Now you should be able to run the game, but will run into the issue i had, crashing after the first turn I imagine
SO, remount your phone to the pc, open up your sourceforge.fheroes2 folder, and look for "fheroes2.cfg"
Open it with notepad, then look for "videomode = 640x480"
Change it to "videomode = 800x480" and save. Now should run with no issues...hopefully. I tested a few turns then attacked a graveyard....suffice to say I died
Took me a little bit of scouring to figure out exactly how to get it to run, and still havn't messed with any of the more indepth tweaks, so if you figure out some that work real well, be sure to pass them along

Do you know how to make yoshimitsu tripple himself in tekken 3? I've been playing this game since I was 5 and one day I randomly mashed buttons and made him tripple himself and do all kinds of moves...but nobody seems to know that ''secret''
combo...
To be honest, I think your favourite games will just be whatever you played as a kid. The nostalgia value is a massive part of emulation.
For PSone I'd recommend Crash Bandicoot 3, Crash Bash, WWF Smackdown 2, Tomb Raider 3, Tomb Raider: Chronicles, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, Spiderman 2.
Some less well known ones that I still really enjoy include Tomba!, Toy Story 2, Chicken Run, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, Heart of Darkness, Intelligent Qube and Incredible Crisis.
Try them out if you're wanting something good that the "best psx games" lists never mention.
I wont say most of my favorites because they are what you would expects (mario, crash bandicoot etc)
But some obscure games I really enjoyed for the PS1 were:
1.Team buddies
2.The Misadventures of tronne bon
3.Gex
4.Lego racers
I dont really have any obscure favorites for the N64 but as a random addition I will throw in my favorite GBA games which are Boktai and Boktai 2. I wouldn't recommend playing them on the xperia though since they used special cartridges with solar panels so you would only be able to play them with cheats which ruins the fun.

Was going to put Lego Racers on my obscure-but-great list but it doesn't work on FPSE. Also a bit of a weird game because every level was really hard until you found the shortcuts and then every level was stupidly easy.
First off if your looking for game ideas I hope your planning on buying these games or already own them.
As for my favorite games.
N64:
Rush
Rush 2049
Super Smash Bros.
Super Mario
Bomber Man
PSX:
Crash Team Racking
Twisted Metal series
Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver
Ape Escape series
Buying these games a second or 3rd time from pawn shops, ebay, or garage sales does not get the game makers any money for there hard work.
Where does the line get drawn? Do you download the rom or give the pawn shop 5 bucks?
Do you be a crook and download it or do you pay a crook for it? Either way the production house does not get the money.

Yes this is a problem. You can no longer support the maker of the game since these games are so old.
But that still doesn't change the fact that downloading these games without owning them is illegal. Im not saying you have to rip the game or copy the bios yourself. Im just saying if your going to download the rom or bios you better have that game or console in your collection.
I liked banjo and kazuie....
And well, most peoples top 3's on here..
Playing a hanimex on a projector looks a bit pixely though....

yea nintendo and others needs to re-release these games for digital downloads, so we can buy them, i wanted to clock zelda for nes but at 200 bucks,it would be nice if they could release a cartridge with all its games in one,but then people without a unit would complain, its their fault for not supplying the demand for these old classics so people resort to other measures.
anyway
ps1
metal gear
ridge racer 4
FF7 & 9
tomb raider series
syphon filter
thrasher
tenchu stealth assassin
Ace combat
driver
colin mcrae rally
N64
Banjo
Zelda
starfox
mario 64
crusin usa
winback64
Golden Eye

Just got FPSE what games should I try out?

What do you recommend to try out for someone who never played many PSX games growing up (I played Spyro a lot though).
Ones you legally own, like Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 and 3. And Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Bump. Can someone please help?
Final Fantasy 7, 8, Legend of Dragoon, Megaman Legends, Top Shop, and Lunar
I would also add: Gran Turismo 2, Final Fantasy 9, Soul Blade, Tomba, Klonoa, Chrono Cross, Metal Gear Solid, Wipeout 3, Vagrant Story, Tomb Raider 2, Colony Wars series, Abe's Odysee etc.
Digimon world 3 - Adventure RPG
Hercs Adventures - Same thing, more combat oriented, based on ancient greece, really fun.
Tomba - 1st one is a 2d scroller, really fun adventure though, lots to do.
Bloody Roar - Fighting
Tekken 2/3 - Fighting (3 has compatibility issues)
Final Fantasy VII - Shouldnt have to explain
Spyro 2/3 - herp
Also if some games arent exactly compatible try using PsXperia. Excellent tool.
Medievil
Medievil 2
on my PLAY (R800x) I couldn't get passed level 4 in Medievil after BUYING the game on the market, so downloading the ISO of the PSX game and loading into FPSE works. The sound pops a little bit (maybe an overclock would fix that) but other than that worked pretty well.
Mayby "Jack and Dexter - 1 and 2" and "Gex - also 1 and 2"
Gex games were released on PSone (and therefore can be emulated), but Jak and Daxter games were PS2 exclusives.
So far Gran Turismo 2, Chrono Cross, and Spyro 3 are very playable. Dead or Alive is kinda laggy for me. I am running stock everything.

Klonoa
Megaman X4, 5, and 6
Resident Evil 2 and 3
Parasite Eve
Tony Hawk 1 and 2
Megaman Legends 1 and 2
Vagrant Story
Tales of Destiny 2
Suikoden 1 and 2
Tiny Tank
Crash Team Racing
Xenogears
and of course Oddworld Abe's Odyssey and Abe's Exodus
Those will keep you busy for months, if not the entire year or longer.

Tomba! 2/Tombi! 2 (USA/EU )
It seems this sort of discussion comes up every week. Would be worth having a big old list of popular games, and cult games people still think are excellent.
As for what to play, play whatever you enjoyed from childhood. The nostalgia's the main thing. For me, the games I go back to are:
crash bandicoot 3, crash bash, tony hawks 3, dave mirra freestyle BMX, incredible crisis, harry potter and the philosopher's stone, spiderman 2: enter electro, intelligent qube, heart of darkness, and toy story 2.
For me here is my list:
Grandia (awesome game)
Lunar
FF7
FF9
Colony Wars
Tales of Destiny
loads more that I cannot remember off-hand.
Tomb raider 12345, silent hill, alone in the dark the new nightmare, croc 12,danger girl parasite eve 2 gran tourismo, quake 2, medal of honour, tenchu 12, rogue spear I could go on...

Pokemon Emerald and Golden Sun are good ones.
I recommend these GBA games: Yoshi's Island, Duke Nukem, Zelda - Minish Cap, both Metroids, three Castlevania games, Advance Wars 2, Boktai (you have to patch them though), Donkey Kong Country, Final Fantasy I-VI, Gradius Galaxies, Lost Vikings, Mario Kart, Megaman Zero, Ninja Five-O, Polarium, Sonic Advance series, WarioWare, Drill Dozer, and few Classic NES series.
That's all I remember now.
