For those that have creeking sound on display's corners - HTC One X

This is actually not a huge issue to be honest but i do remember that it annoyed me. I don't think you can tell you have it, unless you actually check.
I was able to get rid of the creeking sound though. I don't guarantee it works but hey, it is worth a try?
Well basically i just played a game or used my phone long enough for it to get warm. Once the phone has gotten warm enough, i would place my pointer finger on the back side and thumb on the display ( spot where it creeks). Next i would apply pressure. Obviously you are not going to want to apply too much pressure as to damage the display. I have been doing this multiple times throughout the day and now i no longer hear anything.
ps: i even fixed the gap this way(had it at the top of my screen, dust would fill in). Now it is nicely sealed.
I will not be held accountable for anyone trying to apply pressure with a hammer
Good luck

Sounds very interesting, not sure if it would help anybody else. Sounds like some harry potter magic stuff
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

Mine does the same and yeah it is annoying when you pay close to 600€ for such a phone.

So what you're doing is actually warming up the glue and so on..? sounds interesting.mine started to creek after a month of use. I think it's not acceptable for 600e phone

Well, believe it or not, as i was sceptical about this, but this simple solution did fix my issue with creeking noise. Thanks alot man!
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

Hey man, I bought my hox a week ago and I noticed the cracking today. I tried your fixed, I heated the phone up while playing shadowgun for 10 min and then applied pressure and it seems that the cracking is gone. Thanks for now and I will check back if the cracking appears again(hope not)
Thanks again

I had no creaking on the display side that is until I dropped my phone yesterday luckily no scratches or dents as I had a case on which popped off on the drop.
Will try this out later and try fix it, creaks on bottom left and right.

Glad to hear it is working for others as well. Either way, if you hear any creeking noise again just repeat the steps. At least inmy case after repeating it a number of times it vanished

May not be that much of a deal to you, but I think it is a big deal if you consider that you did pay around 600$ or 550euros for a phone, so you want it to feel like a flagship phone as well.

New to dinc2 couple of basic?

Hello my wife currently has a d2g and its her 3rd replacement so I called vz with my final straw. I was Not taking another replacement I'm on number 3 enough enough. So long story short there sending me a dinc2 as a replacement. The I was just wondering if there were any known issues I looked around the threads just saw here and there issues nothing specific to all dinc2. It looked like a really great deviceand I'm sure it will be. I how is the battery life btw? And the keyboard for that matter its going to be weird for her not having a slide out. any info is appreciated thanks.
Battery life is great...I had a OG Droid....took me a bit to get used to no slideout keyboard....I use flext9 since I didn't care for the stock style...love the smaller form factor that no physical keyboard allows

Speakers sound terrible at high volumes and the rotating buttons on the bottom show light through the poorly painted black circles around them. I've had 8 replacements in the first month and all were the same or worse. Still love the phone

I really enjoy this phone. I would recommend getting a case for it. I have a couple very small marks where the screen meets the plastic on the edge. I believe it was from laying the phone face down at work. A case with a small lip, so the phone doesn't touch table resolved this. It didn't resolve the marks I already had. :s Battery life is very good!! Once I get this thing rooted, it will be a beast!!!
Yeah my last charge lasted 1 day and a couple hours. Love the phone like I said but it seems poorly built. Probably the worst hardware of any htc phone I've owned before. Even the vibration is different from phone to phone. Some have barely noticeable vibrate some have too strong and makes terrible rattling noises.
What's funny is that my first Dinc2 had the power and volume buttons kinda hard to press, the rattling USB port, and very low vibrations. But this one is loads better than the last one, easy power button, fixed port and earthquake-like vibrations.

[Q] Worst Build Quality of a Phone

I've owned my Galaxy SIII for almost three months now and it probably has the most defects out of any phone I've ever owned. The hardware buttons are loose, the back cover doesn't stay down on all the corners, and the back cover came with hairline cracks already on it. However, the final thing that really made me consider getting a replacement is the fact that the back cover doesn't even hold the battery in all the time. When I set my phone down on a hard surface without being extra gentle, the phone turns off. I temporarily solved this by putting a folded up piece of paper under the battery cover to keep the battery in better, but I don't think this should be necessary for a $200 flagship phone. I'm already over the 30 day return period, but would these reasons qualify for me getting a replacement phone under warranty?
I have 0 defects. My phone costed 549
Anyways call sammy and send it in for warranty
Yea I'd get a new one I paid $649 for mine and its perfect no problems at all!

Lol this is still by far the best phone I've ever owned, but it doesn't make up for bad quality assurance on Samsung's part. I'm going to get this replaced and hope the next one I get still underclocks and accepts kernels as well as the one I have now.

Sorry for being blatantly sarcastic but loose buttons, cover not seating properly, battery falling out, and cracks? Obviously it was damaged. Before you got it. Pretty sure I'd return a TV with a cracked screen right away before stating it was the worst build quality of any TV ever due to dead pixels and screen flickers and the picture going wonky. I mean, come on man lol. Those defects absolutely would have qualified.. had you reported it right away.

I agree with the group consensus; is there any reason you're reluctant to bring it back? Do you feel guilty about dropping it or something? If not you should be on your way to the store and hope the phone gods have mercy on you since the 30 day return period is over.

Since you're pass the warranty buy a new back cover or a case like an Otter commuter, it will keep the battery and button in place...btw still dont get why you didn't exchange it if it came with a cracked back. Lets see pictures of all these defects!
Wow, I did a COMPETE work over on my phone when I was getting it, checked EVERYTHING, the sales rep was getting a little agitated, but I ask her, if she were spending $500+ on a phone wouldn't you check everything? She shut her pie hole quick, and had her get another one once. Oh well.
Unlike some of you, I actually have enough hand-eye coordination skills to keep my phone in my hand. Cases are bulky and for the clumsy. I am still under the one year warranty and the hairline cracks are only visible from one specific angle. They're really not bad defects, but they just add up and get annoying. I'm only asking if this is worth getting my phone replaced because I don't want to restore to stock for no reason.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
....... again..... if it had these defects.... and they've "added up" to become annoying.... why exactly did you decide to wait 3 months to try to do anything about it?
And if you think that cases are "bulky and for the clumsy"... then the only cases you must see anywhere are OtterBox Defenders and such. Did you ever hear of TPU? next to no bulk added to the phone (about as thick as a DVD... roughly), and gives the phone a bit nicer feel in the hand. Plus makes it a LOT less slippery than with no case at all. I've never dropped a phone either, but i'm not the type that's willing to risk the off chance that something DOES happen that a little bit nicer grip could have prevented.
The only "issue" (if you can even call it that) that i have with my phone that you are also experiencing is the loose volume/power button... which i'm pretty sure EVERYONE is experiencing. They aren't screwed into the phone in any way. They are slotted in, as they are for just about every phone. Yes, they're slightly loose, but it's not like they're ever going to just up and fall out of the phone.
At this point i'm tempted to ask if the hairline cracks you speak of are actual cracks or if you're just seeing the brushed finish of the back of the phone (assuming you have the Pebble Blue)
Still... why did you wait 3 months? Especially with the battery issue and such. I can toss my phone onto my bed, cover or no cover, and it doesn't shut off cause the battery popped out of place.
I've worked in the wireless industry for over 10 years I've yet to see anyone keep a phone out of the box with parts literally falling off and out of the phone. Hell I've never seen that at all for that matter. I can guarantee you've dropped that phone and I doubt that stuff happened out of the box. You may be in the on year warranty but if it has that sort of physical damage good luck getting it replaced.

I want this phone but...

Upgrade coming in 2 weeks, and its time for me to get rid of my evo 4g. I've been eyeing this phone since release. My main concern is this phone cracking. I've read some of the post where users dropped theirs about 2 feet and the phone cracked. The question that came to mind was, do they use a case? Someone over on the evo forum stated that the phone cracks with use of a case, but I've yet to see that story. Can some of you debunk that? If so you will def see me active in these forums in 2 weeks lol. On another note, this person stated that while he was in recovery he fell asleep and his phone was bricked, I've searched all over this forum for a thread on this, have any of you had this experience?

The cracking issue is the same for any phone of this type. I myself have a diztronics case which is fairly thin and have dropped my phone several times without an issue. But i also work at a repair center and I've had at least 2 people come in and say it was only in their pocket and when they pulled it out the screen was shattered. I don't know how much of that to believe. Its like politics. Most of all screen crack issues are lied about and most like to blame the manufacture.
The recovery issue.. never heard of that happening here. Been here for almost 2 months. But its never advised to leave any phone in recovery for extended periods of time. If it bricks from that then its user fault. So I'd advise against flashing anything while laying down about to fall asleep lol

Buy a case. The material this phone is made of is very slick, and it likes to "crawl" off of slanted areas. I have a case, and mine has fallen off cabinet height objects about 5 times... No issues at all. As for the recovery issue... Just don't leave your phone in recovery longer than it needs to... Its that simple. I had an Evo4g and an Evo3d...I love this phone.

My thoughts exactly, these are the answers I was looking for! I've always been one to use a case, my og evo still looks brand new. You guys just sold me on this phone. Not trying to be worrysome, but another question that has been pondering me. There have been a few times where my Evo has froze and the only way to reset the phone was by doing a battery pull. In case this would happen on the optimus g, how do you guys reset since you can't access the battery?

To simulate a battery pull on phones with embedded batteries just hold the power down for about 20 seconds. Even if the phone appears to be off continue to hold the power button for about 20 seconds. And your set

Never been in that position.. I've gotten stuck in boot several times, and holding power for about 20 secs has always fixed the issue. If you get into a really tight spot, letting the battery drain is just what you gotta put up with. It worried me at first too, but hasn't given me a problem. The internal memory got me a few times too, so be prepared to adapt to that.

Look into the recovery issue. I thought i read somewhere that if battery dies while in recovery bad things happen. I will try to find the thread. The answer is simple enough though, charge your phone and don't try flashing with no battery, and certainly don't go to sleep while flashing.
As far as cracking the screen, hit and miss. I have dropped mine probably ten times, no cracks. My wife dropped hers once and it cracked. That's unfortunately the hazard of this type of Phone.

Fragile?

So, I'm looking at getting the Optimus G, but have a few reservations, the biggest of which is the glass panel on the back. I'm wondering from you guys about real-world usage is this something I should be worried about. I don't like cases because they add too much bulk and I'm normal in that drops my phone on the concrete from time to time. Also, I've got young kids which, unfortunately, can lead to some extra drops. Should I be worried about the glass on the back cracking? Any advise would be much appreciated!
A few other reservations are related to the non-upgradable storage and non-removable battery, but I think I'm okay with those.
I have had this phone since it was released and I hardly ever have my bumper case on it and I've dropped it and have never had an issue. I don't know what it is with this phone but it seems indestructible.
I'm not one to drop my phone so I can't personally say anything about the durability of the phone after a drop. But I do know its a mixed bag. And judging from what you said, you drop your phone quite frequently. In which case, I can't recommend this phone for you. This isn't like other phones where if you crack the screen you can still use it. It becomes unresponsive. So my opinion, this phone is a no go for you.

Other people would beg to differ I'm sure.
Most of the time I use a pretty cheap rubber case by Diztronic. I've dropped it a few times from a few feet up onto concrete in this case, and it's been totally fine. That said, I don't know how it would fare without the case. You really should have a case for any phone you get, though. Particularly if it's glass. But there's nothing about this phone that makes it more fragile than the other glass guy.
Thanks!
Thanks for the information! I wouldn't say I'm a frequent dropper, but I do keep my phones for 2 years for the upgrade and in that time there are a number of drops. Thanks again!

I'm going on a vacation and wanted to take underwater video and take my phone to the beach. Anyone have any experience with any of the many options out there? Drycase, overboard, aquapac, sealabox.. Or any word on life proof or Otterbox armor or seidio obex . Coming out for the HTC One. Many reviews on amazon and the leak reviews on all of them scare the **** out of me. Anyway thanks for any your guys comments on your experience with them.

Hi, I do asked myself this since I live near the beach and want to do kind of the same you want.
I bought the Sealabox 3XL it fits perfectly the HTC One, you can get on ebay I paid around 22 after searching for a while.
I tested it in the sink and firstly you have to flash a kernel for making it able to wake the phone (i use Logo 2 wake).otherwise you can't do nothing (you have no way to press power) - I flashed tbalden 's kernel.
It doesnt get a drop of water in, so I feel confident it will be good. I will test it maybe today or tomorrow in the sea.
Hope I was usefull.

Awesome thanks man, this is great. Yea let me know how it works. I was hoping to take something maybe even snorkeling. Yea I was using the logo to wake before I flashed 4.2.2. So I will downgrade if I have to before the trip.

Snorkeling I think maybe not good idea since it says only 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. I will try slowly since I don't wanna have my phone as a brick
I will test it in an hour.
I can post movie on YouTube later maybe

Why not stick some paper towels in there instead and swim however you want? It'll be easy to tell if any water gets into the case then.
Unfortunately I went to the beach late today and played rackets so I will be testing it tomorrow.
That is a really nice idea, I will try to see how much depth can it handle with a paper.

I have the SEALABOX 3XL as well love it took it on holiday used in pool the whole time no problems

So I tried last weekend.
Positive: No water anywhere inside, so does it's job. Good picture quality and video.
Good protection from sand.
Quick removing and placing protection.
Negative: No access to buttons.
Not good visibility when recording or taking pictures at the moment.
With Invisible Shield Screen Protector (i think its because of this) when I immerse the phone it automatically touch screen making it stop / start recording.
How do you wake the phone inside a sealabox?
The sealabox looks pretty good for beach/pool/sweat protection, but how do you wake the phone without access to the power button? Do you guys use something like awesome on off, or an app similar to that?
I'll be in the beach sooner too.
About the SEALABOX, how can you take a photo or video in the sea ?
I plan to do some snorkeling, and I would to record this event with the HTC one.
I wish there were good waterproof cases for the HTC One like there is for the iPhones and even S3s. Lifeproof would be ideal. I think all we have are pouches/baggies that happen to fit the HTC One. I posted on Lifeproof's facebook page voicing my wishes for a case for the HTC One! Anyone that would also want one should do the same as they don't consider making products for new phones unless they have popular enough demand.
I've been on the hunt for something similar to the optrix or life proof cases for the iPhone. I'm having no luck and so far have to use a LokSak which is not ideal. Anyone else having better luck?
