Where did you buy this case?

As i have now tried 3 different screen protectors i can say this:
ZAGG/KINGFISH: both sold by car phone warehouse are no good.
Zagg is a flimsy piece of skin which once fitted is not even smooth. Your finger will not slide on the screen and it makes the view on the screen quite poor as well.
Kingfish is a Matt type screen. Its smooth but also covers the front camera and goes beyond the beveled edge of the phone making it easy to collect dust. Viewing is not very good and i suspect covering the sensors won't do any good either
Positive: Protex
Sold by phones4u and online. Cheap when compared with the above and easy to fit. (I always use droplets of water to fit as it eliminates dirt and little dust fibres to the minimum)
Easy to slide the finger on, does not cover the sensors or cameras.
Rock screen protector: similar to protex, a bit wider and same quality. Highly recommended to the point that i have cancelled the original protectors that Samsung will bring out later in the month.
Overall if you want something that will be good and not disrupt the feel and view, the 2 above ones are ideal. I'm sure there will be other more or less expensive but i won't be testing any new ones.

Are Protex and Rock wet or dry protectors? Do they stretch to the edges of the phone? Or are the edges exposed?

The eyes are slightly exposed about 2mm.
They are not soft protectors and that makes them very good. No glare or other issues. Zagg is a soft one and the most problematic one.
When you say wet or dry i suspect you mean needing to use spray water to apply. Both rock and protex do not need water to apply but using it makes it much easier to apply

Wet application screen protectors
I originally got a dry application screen protector (the ones with the sticky stuff) as an interim measure. After a few days it did start peeling up slightly on the edges as the screen is curved on the edges. I then ordered an XtremeGuard protector (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/23080181...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3744wt_1396) which is a wet application one. It has been sooooo good. Since it is wet application it is alot more flexible and can hence handle the curved edges. Also the XtremeGuard protectors don't suffer from the 'lemon-peel' effect of other wet application screen protectors.
Not saying anything bad against other screen protectors, more just sharing my experience with some screen protectors.

Gear4 Case vs. Case-mate
Hi,
Your Gear4 case looks very nice and pricing is reasonable.
Do you have any experience with the Case-mate barely there cases and how it compares to your Gear4 case?
Thanks

Screen protector

I bought 5pcs for about $3 off of ebay which is a great deal but it looks like they were cut wrong because it doesnt line up great.

I really dont want to pay $18 for a single one, like Steinheil.
My question is, have any of you bought cheap ones that lines up perfect with the phone and corners?
As with many things you get what you pay for.
I have the Skinomi which one of the early ones available and its been ok:
http://www.skinomi.com/
The more I use them the more I recommend the wet apply one as they seem to have less bubble and last longer. For people who are worried just go to best buy or a mall stand and have someone who installs them all day install it.
Most of the newer screen protectors don't line up directly to the edge if thats what your referring to. They save space on the edges so that it doesn't peel off as easy and a lot of new cases cover the edges to. Plus they save money by using less material. I have the ones from verizon and they dont go edge to edge. I even believe that the new Zagg's are being cut the same way.

I actually hate the ones that uses water to install, such as invisiShield. They are not as slippery as the ones that stick on there.
Is skinomi requires water to install?

No I am definitely not looking for a perfect fit but the ones I bought does not line up straight, from top corner to bottom corner. I can buy verizon protectors $9 for 3pcs. So, if they dont line up crooked I am fine.
i bought this http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...BX5A/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1324879125&sr=8-6
i think it's worth it since i started using that brand since my first android, 2 yrs ago. it's really tough and durability is super good.
The reason why the nexus doesn't have a dry install that doesn't extend to the edge because our screens are slightly curved so they will create bubbles at the top and bottom of the screen. The wet screens protector will fit better because they are more bendable
I use a brand called terrapin on my GN. They're cheap on eBay but they're made from very hard plastic. They go right to the edges of the screen and fit really well with cut outs in the right place for the speaker, camera and various sensors.
The quality of these protectors is brilliant, no affect on screen quality at all and there's no rainbow effect or orange peel. There's a few light scratches I can see on the screen protector when bright lights are shone on the unlit screen but as soon as you wake the screen up you can't see them at all.

I would still use a screen protector dust/sand/dirt can get on your fingers and still scratch it plus anything gets in the case and the cover may scratch it. I am super paranoid about scratches though so it may be just me.
There's a bunch of discussion in the Accessories forum on which screen protector is the best. I vote for Verizon "clear" one.
Great! Ordered them. Hopefully they will turnout better.

Me too. Too paranoid. As much as I would like to use the phone without a screen protector to view s amoled with its glory, I will kick myself in the gonads if I end up scratching it.

In their videos the take a dremel to one and it stops the bit. No way the cheap plastic ones would.
Orange peel is my biggest problem with expensive ones such as invisible shield.
XO skins looks pretty legit. I wish I had seen it before I purchased the one I posted earlier
If they are not too too expensive I might pick that up too, as a back up.

cheap ebay screen protectors I found and purchased

Last week I found some screen protectors on ebay for the nexus that I thought I'd give a try. The deal was 10 for 6 dollars which is a pretty sweet deal I figured even if the plastic was somewhat cheap.
Well they came today, and I didnt apply any yet but they had the double sided stickers (like how SGP does their skins) and so I peeled back the front sticker and felt the plastic and it felt pretty thick, much like the the quality of SGP. Also, I noticed that they have an actual cut out around the camera which I thought was nice since it could be used as another reference point when applying the skin. And, on top of that the screen goes the whole side of the screen with no lip on the sides.
Here is the link if anybody is interested, I should be applying it later and supplying pics of it once I do.

It's nice to see that they ship from Canada. I just ordered Clairvue protectors, but I've heard of several people using these "cheap" eBay protectors with much success.

No bubbles from it reaching the edge of the screen? I don't think I've heard of a dry application screen protector that actually reaches the edges of the screen without bubbling up or peeling near the edge do the curvature of the screen...
So after applying the skin this was how it turned out

and
I see what you mean by the peeling cause of the curvature and the shorter screens would pretty much stop where the peeling is actually happening lol, but I still like that is at the ends only to be honest, but it doesnt bother me so much. The pics make the peeling look a lot worse than it actually is I think.

Is the difference that bad? I really want an antiglare film for the Nexus... I actually really like matte screen protectors, especially after putting on so many matte power support protectors on iPhones.
I'm currently staring at my MB Air that has a glossy display with an antiglare matte screen protector I had put on perfectly
I just realized this is a super old thread but I'll post anyway.
(assuming you still use these screen protectors), does the matte one affect the colour at all? I used to have one on my Atrix, and it kind of dulled the colours and made whites a little rainbowy. But maybe I just chose the wrong manufacturer of $1 Hong Kong matte screen protectors
Yes it does, I had a Matte one, and within a minute, took it off. It looks absolutely terrible, worse than having an orange peel effect from wet apply screen protectors.

Looks like this protector comes up easily... I had a Skinomi (similar to Zagg) on my GNex. Only had 2 spot where my Driztronic case rubbed the protector causing it to come up. I'd love to keep the phone naked, but too worried if I ever dropped it on say... concrete.
I bought 3 clear protectors from the seller called wireless_toy_world and this is how it looks like under florescent light:
The top doesnt stick well and it is short at the bottom. I will try another seller and report back.
Let me know if you find a cheap and good one..

What? No, they don't. The cheap protectors (Usually dry applications) don't have any liquid or residue to use thus no ruining the screen. It's akin to static cling for some of these cheap protectors.

[Review] Moshi iVisor AG screen protector

http://www.moshimonde.com/product/ivisor-ag-for-galaxy-siii.aspx
Packaging:
Minimalist cardboard packaging printed with Soy ink (as stated on the package). Very easy to open with the pull tab on the back. Inside is a cardboard flap that protects the screen protector and included cleaning cloth. As for that cloth...what a joke! It's a nice material but it's roughly the size of 50 cent piece or silver dollar. It's so small it's tough to keep two fingers on it without letting them touch the screen as you're trying to clean it. Once I seen that cleaning cloth I though "oh boy, what did I get myself in to?"
Installation:
Before proceeding with the install I did a dry fit to see how it lines up to get an idea of how it was going to fit. It covers the whole face of the phone all the way to the edge. The cut outs are precise and form fitting and there are two "cutouts" for the capacitive buttons as well. The fact that this protector is able to be removed and replaced at will, guarantees a bubble free installation, took alot of the stress out of the procedure. You don't have to worry about how or where you hold it for fear of getting finger prints on the backside of it since it's the same color as the phone except for where it covers the screen. Simply peel off the protective sheet, line it up at the top with the protector slightly bent in the middle so once it's lined up you can roll it down into place. Once it's in place, use the cleaning cloth to rub all around the colored portion to ensure a good adhesion.
Final Thoughts:
It looks like you don't have a screen protector on it at first glance. If you have a white phone you're well aware of the light bleed around the capacitive buttons, this fixes that. Install took all of 20 seconds and resulted in no dust or bubbles under it. The reason it guarantees no bubbles is because there is no adhesive or other adhering properties on the area that covers the screen. The "adhesive" is only on the colored area. The protector adheres nicely to the phone including the beveled areas of the screen but beware when using this with a case. I have an Incipio Silicrylic Dual Pro and because the silicone sleeve barely wraps around the edge of the face of the phone, when you press the volume or lock button it pushes the sleeve against he side of the protector and lifts it I have a Fosmon S style TPU case and checked it out to see how far it's edges wrap around the face of the phone and it looked like it wrapped over it more, but because it's such a tight fit I decided to remove the back cover of the phone before installing it and that worked out perfectly! The phone is nice and snug and it doesn't cause the protector to lift when pressing the buttons since it actually overlaps the protector instead of butting up against it's side.
As for clarity....well, this is an AG protector which stands for anti-glare so i'm sure you all know what that means. The standard grainy effect is there, although it's not as bad as most, and does take away some of the clarity of the screen. It's mostly noticeable on light backgrounds but if you're looking at it close enough you can see it no matter what. One thing that worried me is that there would be an obvious sign that the protector is not adhered to the screen itself...there's not. The protector is nice and smooth to swipe across and even the "openings" over the capacitive buttons are smooth, that's because they aren't actually openings it's just that they aren't colored.
Overall the product is good but it degrades the display quality and limits the cases you can use with it. But it also covers the whole screen, is washable and reuseable, eliminates the light bleed around the capacitive buttons, significantly reduces glare and fingerprints, ensures no bubbles and makes installation a breeze. Only 2 negatives, but they are big deals to alot of us so weight the pros and cons before you go give up your $25 for it
thanks for the great review.
My last hope for this protector is that it plays nicely with the Seidio Surface Garnet Red case I just ordered for it
Good review but I returned mine. I wasn't as good as I hoped for personally. I used it for a good week and a half.

It doesn't fit with the seidio case. I have the surface case in black. When you slip the case on with the protector on, it squeezes the edges of the screen protector together causing one edge to lift making a slight bubble. I couldn't stand the anti glare so I ended up returning the screen protector. Made the screen look blurry. The screen looks 10x better without it. Also wasn't worth $25 to me. It did feel nice but can't say it looked nice though.
You didn't go wrong with the seidio case though. It's a nice case. I've been using it for the past 2 weeks.

What I meant was I hope it has curved edges like the gs3. I think they mean beveled edges as in not sharp edges so the don't get caught on anything
Thank you for the excellent review... Very informative.

I like the idea of this as a screen protector, but like others have mentioned with their cases, it does not fit properly with the body glove case. Hopefully I can return it, as I really like the feel of the Body Glove.

Yeah, with someone confirming it doesn't play nicely with the Seidio Surface case, mine is going back too
I have a question. How thick is this protector? The Xgear version is only .4mm thick. That's about half the thickness of a human fingernail!! I was worried about it interfering with the home button but it should be fine considering how thin it is!

What glass screen protector and where to buy?

Hey guys I wanted a just like glass screen protector and amzer and SGP ones are out if stock only one I could find is siedio but seems expensive. Any ideas where or which to get? Thanks

I would spend the money on the spigen glas.t but according to this forum it has been discontinued:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929381
I didn't read the full thing, i just googled it. But i will say this, I dropped my iPad 3 face down(glass down) on concrete and it protected it. It fell about 4 feet and came out without any damage whatsoever.

I swear by ZAGG. If you watch the demo video then it should sell you too. Yes its a little more expensive than the 3 dollar scotch tape cover you can get at the grocery store, but you spent a lot of money on the phone with its sharp screen, I figure its worth it. I had the ZAGG cover on my Thunderbolt and it worked great. I liked it so much I have one on my GS3.
DBA Cases sells a screen protector called "Just Like Glass". I just bought one for me and my mom. I must say the feel is great, almost "like glass" and the screen doesn't diminish in quality one bit. It is a wet application. The sides on mine don't want to stick down all the way. The instructions said this would happen and after a few days it will stick. I've only had it applied a couple days so I'm still crossing my fingers. They are only $13.50. I would definitely recommend one. http://www.dbacases.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-screen-protectors.aspx
I highly suggest glasszone. No proximity problems, no response problems. 9H hardness, I've dropped it twice from waist height on concrete floor and it's not scratched, though I'm not 100% if the initial impact was with ground. The only thing I have against it is the (barely) visible layer of glitter on the edges, or what the manufacturer calls "pearl effect". I barely notice it, and it's only really visible under a few instances. You can find it on ebay
iMuse glass protector could be a good solution:

Do all the tempered glass protectors make the screen look odd, or are some better and more "HD" than others? I read the thread about the xgear one and it sounds like it distorts the screen.

Yes it definitely disturbs. That's why the sticker type protector is somehow a better choice, but if you have a sturdy case protector to begin with you don't need a screen protector, that gorilla glass will serve it purposes.

I dont that will be a good choice because those tiny holes for the proximity sensor are sure to cause you problems

Yes the Spigen is discontinued but Seidio has its Vitreo which I feel is a little better that Spigens Glas... I have had both and like the Vitreo better just slightly and also comes in black and white

I ordered mine from Bestskinsever. Quality is like Zagg Invisible Shield for about 1/4 of the price.
I don't like the Zagg ones, its very clear when you're using them that you have a screen protector on. I have the DBA Just Like Glass mentioned above. I like it for the most part. The screen protector has gotten very scratched up but the screen is safe and sound. Worst bit about it is that the edges dont look properly adhered. They havent peeled up for me but they look like they arent stuck on as well as the rest of the protector
I just ordered my spigen ultra nano clear will report back

Do NOT buy*
SPIGEN SGP Samsung Galaxy S3 Premium Glass Screen Protector White
Glass looks and feels great.
HOWEVER
Must be used with a raised home button and case on the edges.
Sensitivity was severely compromised.
You wouldn't notice on regular use, but as soon as you got typing. I became very frustrated. Ruined texting all together.
Even swype was some garbage.
40$ well wasted.

I've been using a Qmadix tempered tech armor and it does need a raised sticker and only comes with three. It works great though and I haven't lost any use. I bought mine in white from a sprint store and my only complaint is the dust that gets stuck on the glue like edges underneath. I can post pictures of the box and the glass screen protector if requested my camera just isn't connecting on the cm10.1 nightlie I have haha

I don't trust Gorilla glass at all, seen so many phones scratched that have it and it does nothing for impacts.

[Glass Screen Protector][TRUGlass]Cruzerlite Glass Protector Thread

This is literally a copy+paste from my post on Google+ find that one here with lots more photos - https://plus.google.com/103184848438617607889/posts/eg5ALeSq6uG
So I've been super busy these past few days but I wanted to share with everyone something I got for my #Nexus5 from +Cruzerlite ... This is _my_ mini-review of the Cruzerlite #TruGlass screen protector and a mini-comparison with MIMEUSA's Ghost Glass...
*Initial remarks*
At first glance you can see that its a very nice quality protector... Unlike the +MIMEUSA #GhostGlass I had on my phone previously, this one is flexible glass and not just tempered glass... Both are made of actual glass but the MIME glass is more rigid and doesn't bend much at all... From what I hear, the TruGlass is made from the same material that the Samsung Round and LG GFlex screens are made up of... So its quite flexible but not flimsy like a normal plastic screen protector would be...
*Installation*
Installation was mostly easy because I followed the directions even the hot shower to grab any loose dust lol... When installing, its probably best to peel back the whole plastic film on the application side and reattach it about 2/3 or 1/2 to the glass... This will help you center it easier w/o having to lift it off once the glass is down... once its on there, the bubbles are easily squeezed out with some light pressure to each area with them... Installation done and you're ready to enjoy
*First Impressions of it installed*
I was immediately not happy with it and I'll tell you why... I have self-diagnosed OCD and I like for things to line up perfectly... This is why I prefer Cruzerlite vinyl skins and their precise fit as opposed to DBrand skins which leave huge gaps on the edges and even side pieces… But my main gripe with this protector was that it didn’t go all the way to the top/bottom/left/right edges… I contacted Cruzerlite and they assured me this was intentional to ensure perfect fit with their cases… I was initially not happy with that answer considering I’m a minimalist person who doesn’t like cases covering up the beauty of my phone… Then I decided to actually try them with their cases and placed the order to which they shipped REALLY fast considering nothing really happens on the weekend for most businesses…
*Impressions with Cruzerlite TruGlass + Cases*
WOW, such a great fit and makes perfect sense with the way the glass is cut… No issues installing the cases and its a very nice/snug fit on the phone…
*Final thoughts*
I’m not as unhappy with the screen protector as my initial impressions and in fact its hardly noticeable without a case on the phone and certainly not noticeable with a case on the phone… I can’t judge on lasting quality but I can say its a great buy if you’re looking for a glass protector that doesn’t have too much added thickness and one that fits well with cases…
*Recommendation*
BUY IT NOW!!! lol http://goo.gl/WZU9ua
On with the pics of this all
Oh and the one shot of just the glass with a brown background shows a lines up comparison of #TruGlass vs #GhostGlass

Does it protect against a drop or something? I can't see this piece of glass preventing the screen from shattering.

yes, in the OP is a link to the post with pics of it installed with the case!
Flexible glass ?? Couldn't find any endurance/drop test reviews. So I'm doubtful on their ability to provide shatter protection for the screen if dropped. Personally I think a good tempered glass protector or something like a Rhino Shield would be a much better option for $30.

That can't be glass. It's must be a different material. Mime is the only one that actually feels physically like glass

true but its still glass lol... did you see the video of the LG G-Flex literally bending flat? that's also glass and it bends... did you see that new Samsung TV that bends at the push of a button?
point is, just because it bends doesn't mean it doesn't provide protection...
Hi @the1dynasty is that the official google black bumper your using with it? I'm very much interested in the combo of official bumper with truglass

Here is a video review of truglass
Mine arrived in the post yesterday, I fitted it today.
This thing is certainly a premium product, it feels and like there's not even a screen protector fitted. Only if you look carefully by the ear piece you can see it. Its so smooth and its really nice to touch, slightly expensive but we will see how it fairs against the test of time. I used an invisisheild before I don't think I'll be using those again, its a floppy sticky bit of plastic.
My only small gripe with this is there a few tiny tiny air bubbles I can't seem to get out with the squeegy and I can't see any dust particles in there. Il try and add a photo later

Has anyone used these without a case? I'm wondering if the edges are less prone to chipping if they don't go all the way out to the edge of the phone

Same here. I'll be interested if I can use a glass and be case free? Do these glass protectors protect from the main glass actually breaking?
