What glass screen protector and where to buy? - Galaxy S III Accessories

Hey guys I wanted a just like glass screen protector and amzer and SGP ones are out if stock only one I could find is siedio but seems expensive. Any ideas where or which to get? Thanks

I would spend the money on the spigen glas.t but according to this forum it has been discontinued:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929381
I didn't read the full thing, i just googled it. But i will say this, I dropped my iPad 3 face down(glass down) on concrete and it protected it. It fell about 4 feet and came out without any damage whatsoever.

I swear by ZAGG. If you watch the demo video then it should sell you too. Yes its a little more expensive than the 3 dollar scotch tape cover you can get at the grocery store, but you spent a lot of money on the phone with its sharp screen, I figure its worth it. I had the ZAGG cover on my Thunderbolt and it worked great. I liked it so much I have one on my GS3.

DBA Cases sells a screen protector called "Just Like Glass". I just bought one for me and my mom. I must say the feel is great, almost "like glass" and the screen doesn't diminish in quality one bit. It is a wet application. The sides on mine don't want to stick down all the way. The instructions said this would happen and after a few days it will stick. I've only had it applied a couple days so I'm still crossing my fingers. They are only $13.50. I would definitely recommend one. http://www.dbacases.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-screen-protectors.aspx

I highly suggest glasszone. No proximity problems, no response problems. 9H hardness, I've dropped it twice from waist height on concrete floor and it's not scratched, though I'm not 100% if the initial impact was with ground. The only thing I have against it is the (barely) visible layer of glitter on the edges, or what the manufacturer calls "pearl effect". I barely notice it, and it's only really visible under a few instances. You can find it on ebay

iMuse glass protector could be a good solution:

Do all the tempered glass protectors make the screen look odd, or are some better and more "HD" than others? I read the thread about the xgear one and it sounds like it distorts the screen.

Yes it definitely disturbs. That's why the sticker type protector is somehow a better choice, but if you have a sturdy case protector to begin with you don't need a screen protector, that gorilla glass will serve it purposes.

Yes the Spigen is discontinued but Seidio has its Vitreo which I feel is a little better that Spigens Glas... I have had both and like the Vitreo better just slightly and also comes in black and white

I ordered mine from Bestskinsever. Quality is like Zagg Invisible Shield for about 1/4 of the price.

I don't like the Zagg ones, its very clear when you're using them that you have a screen protector on. I have the DBA Just Like Glass mentioned above. I like it for the most part. The screen protector has gotten very scratched up but the screen is safe and sound. Worst bit about it is that the edges dont look properly adhered. They havent peeled up for me but they look like they arent stuck on as well as the rest of the protector

I just ordered my spigen ultra nano clear will report back

SPIGEN SGP Samsung Galaxy S3 Premium Glass Screen Protector White
Glass looks and feels great.
HOWEVER
Must be used with a raised home button and case on the edges.
Sensitivity was severely compromised.
You wouldn't notice on regular use, but as soon as you got typing. I became very frustrated. Ruined texting all together.
Even swype was some garbage.
40$ well wasted.

I've been using a Qmadix tempered tech armor and it does need a raised sticker and only comes with three. It works great though and I haven't lost any use. I bought mine in white from a sprint store and my only complaint is the dust that gets stuck on the glue like edges underneath. I can post pictures of the box and the glass screen protector if requested my camera just isn't connecting on the cm10.1 nightlie I have haha

I don't trust Gorilla glass at all, seen so many phones scratched that have it and it does nothing for impacts.

I've tried a few screen protectors now and I hate them all. The Gorilla Glass seems to hold its own without one at all, plus it feels much smoother when scrolling on the screen. Just try not to have piles of keys or rocks in your phone pocket and you'll be fine. I've had mine since it launched in February and have had no issues so far.
Realook by far is the best one I have tried, and I have tried many. You gain security without any drawbacks. Don't knock it till you try it. Have had this protector on my phone for several months now and several small scratched have shown up on it. It's $5.50, plastic and takes a beating so my real screen doesn't have too. (Obvious point, no one scratches their phone screen on purpose, the point of a protector is not to protect your phone from normal daily use when you are being careful, but for the times when **** just happens and there was nothing you could do about it. That's when having these things are most important / useful).

I say get a screen protector and don't leave the gorilla glass naked. I babied my phone for a week before I got anything on it... then two scratches from god knows what. Gorilla glass will NOT hold up to minute particles of nothingness in your pocket so be aware.
I personally like the marquee splash screen protectors (I think that's the name) that are on amazon. Clear, feels like the normal screen, went on fine.
I tried ghost armor at first and I hated it.. it had orange peel and dented really easily. It seemed to shrink over time, too, which is weird..

Gorilla Glass is bull**** man. I took off my old screen protector because there was a minute imperfection in it and cleaned it with a brand new lint free cloth and now there are 3 tiny scratches in the glass. I mean with the new screen protector you can't really see it, but it's such bull****.
ZAGG Invisible Shield.
Lifetime warranty FTW!
I think i order BestSkinksEver total body skin.
I had bad experience with Zagg, i just don't like it.
Thank you all
I accidentally sat on my phone wearing jeans with rivets for about 15 minutes; no scratches. I still wouldn't put it in my pocket naked though. But no protector.

Do you have it installed on your Atrix? I installed on my son's iPod touch 17 months ago and it still hasn't peeled. Then I did my Dad's iPhone 4 8 months ago and the front is still looking great. Not sure why I didn't do my Atrix yet.
Edit: I added Moto ruggedized battery cover for minimalistic grip to phone. Really like it so far. In stock at cnn.cn.

Yes that's true, you can actually call it an OP magnet but we're talking about screen protector here and I dont think there's anything else that can protect your screen but the Invisible Shield by zagg.... I have speck casing on my atrix with the invisible shield for the screen and I accidentally dropped it like 3-4 feet high on its flatscreen and not even a scratch on the screen.... my co-worker bought an atrix too and with it he also got a speck casing and one of those screen protector from at&t store, couple of days later while we were talking about our atrices/atrixes he accidentally dropped it in front of me and when he picked it up the screen was cracked! He was mad as hell because he didnt listen to me... lol
I mean the stuff they show on their demos is for real, I've used invisible shield on each of my phone for so many years now and each of them were protected by invisible shield... yes the invisible shield is a orange peel/lint magnet but you can easily wipe them off, I guess for me I'd be more concern about the protection of my phone and not the OPs
I tried an extra Skinomi protector a friend had and it developed bubbles a couple weeks after installation. Then I got a SGP Steinheil Ultra Crystal and I'm extremely happy with it. My friends who also have Atrix couldn't even tell it had a protector on. Plus it isn't a wet install and takes just a couple of minutes to put on. It's the hard plastic type and very slightly drags more than the bare screen but it's hardly noticeable, especially in comparison to the soft plastic type like Skinomi.
i got zagg just because i got tired of the fingerprints that attract to the glass. before i got it though, the screen was exposed to some harsh conditions at my job, and did not scratch or anything; so it is a tough screen
Invisible shield's original screens were pretty bad op, but I've had one on my evo for nearly a year now and it's just as good as the day I installed it.
They have a new formula that is SUPPOSED to be less op, but it's only for the iPhone right now

Where did you buy this case?
As i have now tried 3 different screen protectors i can say this:
ZAGG/KINGFISH: both sold by car phone warehouse are no good.
Zagg is a flimsy piece of skin which once fitted is not even smooth. Your finger will not slide on the screen and it makes the view on the screen quite poor as well.
Kingfish is a Matt type screen. Its smooth but also covers the front camera and goes beyond the beveled edge of the phone making it easy to collect dust. Viewing is not very good and i suspect covering the sensors won't do any good either
Positive: Protex
Sold by phones4u and online. Cheap when compared with the above and easy to fit. (I always use droplets of water to fit as it eliminates dirt and little dust fibres to the minimum)
Easy to slide the finger on, does not cover the sensors or cameras.
Rock screen protector: similar to protex, a bit wider and same quality. Highly recommended to the point that i have cancelled the original protectors that Samsung will bring out later in the month.
Overall if you want something that will be good and not disrupt the feel and view, the 2 above ones are ideal. I'm sure there will be other more or less expensive but i won't be testing any new ones.

Are Protex and Rock wet or dry protectors? Do they stretch to the edges of the phone? Or are the edges exposed?
The eyes are slightly exposed about 2mm.
They are not soft protectors and that makes them very good. No glare or other issues. Zagg is a soft one and the most problematic one.
When you say wet or dry i suspect you mean needing to use spray water to apply. Both rock and protex do not need water to apply but using it makes it much easier to apply

Wet application screen protectors
I originally got a dry application screen protector (the ones with the sticky stuff) as an interim measure. After a few days it did start peeling up slightly on the edges as the screen is curved on the edges. I then ordered an XtremeGuard protector (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/23080181...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3744wt_1396) which is a wet application one. It has been sooooo good. Since it is wet application it is alot more flexible and can hence handle the curved edges. Also the XtremeGuard protectors don't suffer from the 'lemon-peel' effect of other wet application screen protectors.
Not saying anything bad against other screen protectors, more just sharing my experience with some screen protectors.
Gear4 Case vs. Case-mate
Hi,
Your Gear4 case looks very nice and pricing is reasonable.
Do you have any experience with the Case-mate barely there cases and how it compares to your Gear4 case?
Thanks

I liked how conveniently the instructions were on the packaging. It puts them right in front of you so you remember to read them.
Very basic kit, you get your quick how-to card, business card, cleaning cloth, screen protector and a squeegee. This is my new favorite squeegee.
Samsung Galaxy S III Screen Protector Features:
• Toughest clear protective film in the market
• Clear protection that is virtually invisible
• Preserves your Samsung Galaxy S III's original design
• Protects your Samsung Galaxy S III from scratches, dents, and physical wear-and-tear
• Patented layer of UV protection for anti-yellowing
• Provides protection without affecting the functions of your Samsung Galaxy S III
• Non-sticky or restrictive outer surface
We're always on the hunt for the perfect screen protector. I must say Skinomi is ranked at the top of my list. It's not as soft as other wet applications. Minimal orange peel unlike the more expensive screen protectors. I feel more comfortable handing my phone to a child.
It covers most of the screen and has the proper cut outs for the sensors and camera. The home button is cut out and not just cut straight down.
The battery cover protectors were also a nice touch. I was glad to discover Skinomi uses high quality 3M products. Not a knock off brand like other competitors use to save some money. I haven't put one on yet due to my OCD. I just want to take my time. One of these will be up for the next giveaway!
MSRP of the Skinomi TechSkin is $11.95 and can be purchased for $9.95 from Amazon. The Skin Protectors come in 7 different styles. MSRP: $19.95 on the Skinomi Website. They can be found on Amazon for $18.94 shipped.
Customer Service response time was excellent and above average.
I purchased a skinomi front screen protector for my s3, and although application was really easy and its all aligned fine
Whenever a mark is made on the screen protector (Lightly press your fingernail into it) the mark stays, might just be because i only put it on 24 hours ago, so i will leave it a few days and see.

I ordered one back when they were $1 on Amazon and used it for about a month and a half. The marks stay for a long time. I made one diagonally about a week after I got it, and it was still there a month later when I changed to the curved crystal protector. Don't all wet protection screen guards do that? So far every review for a wet application one I read has people complaining about the indents. I would try one of these out myself but with the Glas coming out this week, no point in doing it

best Nexus 5 screen protector?

Hi all,
I'm looking for a decent, but not way too expensive screen protector. I'm planning to use my n5 with only a screen protector, nothing else. It doesn't matter for me if it is wet or dry application, as long as it will keep my screen safe and it won't annoy me in terms of feel and screen distortion. Anyone know any good screen protectors?
Thanks in advance!
Can't say much but my experience with the spigen crystal clear has been good. Easy installation! looks great as it doesn't have any cutouts for the camera and proximity sensor. Doesn't affect the performance at all. My protector came dented, it came free with my ultra hybrid case but meh, not many complaints regarding that.
I bought this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EPLT8O4/
You get 3 protectors and I'm pretty happy with the quality. They do attract a lot of fingerprints but I think most protectors do? I was worried a screen protector would alter the screen color/vibrance but I can't even tell it's on unless I look at the edges. I'm happy with this purchase but in the future I might try an oleophobic tempered glass one.

Currently iSmooth screen protector is one of the best screen protectors. Here is the link :
I cannot post a link: Go to amazon.com and search (ismooth nexus 5)
I'm rocking a best skins ever wet application protector at the moment. Its easy to fit (being wet app you can reposition after applying before it dries) and has a nice feel. Its also fits perfectly to the screen edges.
Been meaning to do a little review but not got around to doing one yet.
Loving the spigen that came with my slim case. I had it for almost 3 weeks already and only has one scratch. Very anti-scratch. I liked them so much, I ordered some for my wife s4 and no scratches at all.

I have the TechMatte amFilm Nexus 5 screen protectors. They come in a 3-pack and include everything you need. They are a dry-application screen protector. The screen protectors have three cutouts along the top for the camera/light sensor/proximity sensor, but the cutouts are NOT along the edge of the screen, as suggested by some illustrations on the packaging. The 3 cutouts are neat and precisely in the location of the aforementioned sensors.
The actual application time took around 2 minutes, 15 seconds. I got it right the first time. After initial application, the 4 bubbles took seconds to smooth out. To minimize dust particles being trapped under the screen protector during installation, TechMatte suggests applying the screen protector in a bathroom after taking a shower. I can understand why, as I ended up with two small particles of dust which settled in the nanoseconds that the Nexus 5 screen was exposed to the air in my kitchen. This is no fault of amFilm though. The screen protector looks great and was a breeze to apply.
5/5 so far for the Techmatte amFilm Nexus 5 screen protectors!

The free one that came with my Spigen Ultra Hybrid has done the job just fine so far.
Agreed; the Spigen ones work great as well.
The new Mime Feather is awesome , just installed it today couldn't be more satisfied
I bought the spigen ultra crystal from amazon.. And IMO the best

Try the Mediadevil Invisible Screen Protector, I used them on both Galaxy Nexus and Note 3 and there were amazing.
from this thread it really seems that there isn't a best choice but maybe that there are several good products.
Someone cheaper someone more expensive.
I'm choosing my first one and I don't know what is the best considering price/quality.

Any decent screen protectors?

I got the Zagg branded screen protector for the note 7 and it won't adhere. It went on messy (Despite following the instructions perfectly) and will not adhere, especially on the corners/edges. @ 25 bucks a pop, it's ridiculous.
Dont get Zagg screen protectors for edge displays. I'm getting the PureGear one in a couple of days. I'll let you know when I put it on, supposedly works well with the edge too.
I picked up the BodyGuardz HD Contour yesterday for $25. It sucks...refused to adhere to the edges. I just found a tempered glass from otterbox that I'm thinking about getting.
I'm using the Spigen flex screen protector. It's not bad so far it ends right before the edge of the phone and so far has been case friendly, though i have yet to try it with non Spigen cases. One annoyance though is that you can see the s-pen indentations on it but i can deal with that as opposed to scratches on the display.

I'm telling you do not get tempered glass screen protectors for Edge displays. Get the plastic.
IqShield. Installed quite easily. Not a single bubble or imperfection. Sticks to the curved edges perfectly. S pen feels ok on it. Not quite as good as bare screen, but better than some screen protectors I've used. Will but again once this one needs replacement.
Anyone bought the original samsung screen protector online? I can't find a link to buy the same. Also any idea whether it's case friendly?

I second IQ shield. I have the full body wrap. Even if you use a case i recommend a full wrap to keep dust from scratching the body between the case.
IQ shield seems to hold and stick nicely even with a TPU case on. Just make sure you let it sit for a day after applying before you put a case on so everything adheres properly.

Ok i got this screen protector and it went on perfect. No bubbles but it takes patience when working the edges. Make sure to you watch there video have on the Internet. Really helps on getting everything on perfect. Now i am letting the protector dry before i put on the case. Which is the real rest. I will update u guys on how it worked out. Remember installation takes like a half hour because of the edges.

Hey,
I got the original Samsung screen protector for Note 7 while purchasing the device.
Its pretty good, especially on the edges and goes well with my S view Cover.
It leaves some area at the bottom uncovered but I like it as it doesn't tend to come off at the edges due to the cover, which was a problem with my previous screen protector from Spigen on an older device.
A fine buy!

Well this doesn't cover the whole screen first of all, and second if you need a tray to install tempered glass then you haven't used your head enough. Line it up on the screen, tape the left side like a book to the phone, stick one piece of tape on the top on the right side, open it like a book, peel the bottom portion that adheres to the phone, then "close the book" and it will be perfectly lined up. Easy peasy.

1) Aside from a very select few, there are almost no screen protectors that covers most of the screen (edge to edge) yet.
2) I rarely, if ever, use screen protectors but I'm sure there are millions of people (based on reviews itself) who would love to have something (a tool?) that would make the process much more easier for them.
You make it sound so easy but yet people mess up installations all the time.
I don't think "using your head" has anything to do with it.
I'm sure people from all walks of life, from garbage men to surgeons, have messed up on a screen protector installation at one point or another.
Xtremeguard fit my S7 edge perfectly with my Spigen Thin Fit case. The Xtremeguard was backordered when I finally pulled the trigger on the Note 7. I ended up ordering 2 skinomi full body kits. My dad opted for Spigen's Carbon offering, while I went again with the Thin Fit to avoid lifting the Skinomi. I will post pics/video when they arrive.
