Samsung S3 NFC is not able to read singapore ezlink (cepas) card. - NFC Hacking

I use farebot to do the test.
Farebot running on Samsung S3 is not able to read the Singapore Cepas card.
The same application running on Samsung Nexus (android 2.3.4) is able to read the Cepas card, but after upgrading Nexus to android 4.0.3, it is not able to read the cepas card.
But HTC sandwich version 4.x.x don't have this issue.
so I suspect it's a samsung android sandwich os issue. Because after upgrade to sandwich, the nexus doesn't work, but HTC Sandwich works.
Any suggestion on the fixing or work around ? Thanks.

Hi, did you just tap your card on the phone like that or did you use an 3rd party app? I have a S3 as well and I do not seem to have that problem. My phone just give me the beep sound when I tap my card but when I use 'farebot'(It's on the Play Store), it reads my card and show me my stuff. Or, is the rom or kernel that is causing that problem?

s3 cannot read the cepas cards issued by ezlink

s3 cannot read the cepas cards issued by ezlink, but it can read cepas cards issued by other issuer, like LTA or NETS, for example, the NETS FlashPay, the concession cards or some cepas enabled credit cards etc.
what kind of card you r using? and what's the android version of your S3?

are you on stock??

My father is on a Stock 4.0.4 Samsung Galaxy S3 phone.
I tried with his card this morning
It says the card is unsupported and the value is zero
But it is able to detect the card is an ezlink card. I am using a Passion card Ezlink card. My colleagues have tried the regular ezlink cards by lta but they don't work either.
Reads my FlashPay easily though.

2nd Micro SD Card Stopped Working - DHD

I woke up this morning on the sight of 'SD Card blank or has unsupported filesystem' message on my DHD. I restarted my phone, shut it down then restarted, but the message is still there. When I touch the message, it asks me whether I want to format it, I choose 'yes' but nothing happened. Then I tried to read the micro SD card on my laptop; again, it detects the card but fails to read / format. I tried to format it by both FAT and NTFC (just to check whether it's possible) but after clicking on 'Start,' nothing happens. Windows, then, returns a 'was not able to complete the format' message. (Xtreme 16gb Class 2 micro SD card - but the card itself doesn't have 'Xtreme' printed on it).
The same thing happened with my previous SD card a week earlier (the one that came with the phone, Samsung 8gb Class 2 micro SD card). However, the card wasn't even proceeding to 'format' and wasn't detected by my laptop at all.
What could the problem be? Could this be caused by a particular app that I have installed? I got my DHD on 25th of October, but this problem is very recent, and I had no problems before.
Help me out, please...
What software version is the DHD on?

Hi sengork,
The software number is: 1.72.405.3
I did a little research on the matter, and it seems as if this problem is since the latest OTA... but if that destroyed the first SD card, I don't know why the second one got damaged, too?
That's the thing. Most folk have not found out whether the OTA update (which you seem to have) causes only bundled Samsung SD cards to fail or whether it'd cause all cards to fail.
You might be the 1st example of the OTA causing failure on other SD cards. That is assuming that card didn't fail for some other non-OTA related reasons...

Yes sengork, I haven't found anyone else to have had 2 of their SD cards destroyed by the phone.
Common when both 'frying' incidents occurred;
i. happened late at night, when I was asleep (not using the phone for a long interval of time)
ii. had an unread SMS (had Go SMS installed)...
Did the Xtreme card happen to come with one of those 'lifetime warranties'? How much was it?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Yeah, it came with a 'lifetime warranty.' They have replaced the defective card and gave me a new one. It cost me around USD 30.
Well, today, my 3rd SD card has stopped working. I have no idea what the hell is going on...
It don't have to be broken....
Read this - I do not have a BB phone and to be honest - I have no clue what it means but might be helpfull... check this

For solutions on doing this with the DHD would be nice
Edit: can confirm in a BB - BlackBerry phone I was able to format the SD Card without problem and it is now accessable from the DHD again - issue fixed

Just got a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC. Need advice on how to format/treat it.

Hello all, as the title states, i just got a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card 30MB/s with Adapter SDSDQUA-064G-U46A from amazon.com for their black Friday special for $42.
My question is, since I know it's 62gb, it needs to be specially formatted so I can use all of it the right way. Can someone tell me what's the best way in going about this? (Aside from having a note 2, I have a Mac, and little access to a PC, but I can get to one of needed.)
Also, does anyone here have this card? And what are your experiences with it if you do? Many thanks!

I've got one of those. You need a UHS-1 compatible card reader to use it with your computer, otherwise it'll just stop working when you try to access it.
Format it using your phone, and keep in mind that if you go from a stock rom to cyanogenmod or from jb to ics, it will present "SD card may be damaged. You may need to reformat it".
If that happens, boot a linux distro and use fdisk to change the partition type to 0x07, save and quit.
Then reboot into windows, connect the card reader with the card inserted, cancel windows' prompt to format. Open a command prompt and run chkdsk /r x: where x: it the drive letter assigned to it. Allow it to finish and your card will be usable again.

here is what you need for PC(if you can get to one)...this is a simple formatting program that will format the card to fat32 from NTFS...there is a limit of 4gb file size with this format..but it will make the card work with TWRP recovery...
http://code.google.com/p/nusad/downloads/detail?name=FAT32_GUI_Formatter.exe&can=2&q=
on edit...i think you are looking for something other than what i posted...what i have posted will format the card to fat32 making it usable with TWRP...if thats not what you want..ignore this... sorry
I inserted mine to my note 2 as soon as I got it. Never had a single issue with it.

Got that same card from amazon when it was down to $38. Once I got it, I just formatted it with a card reader to exFAT using my pc. Works just fine. Even did the directory bind on it already to move all my games to it plus put a few movies and tv shows on it. Yes its almost full...
But still no errors or problems. And its quick... enough.

Hey guys, just got my gnote 2 a few hours ago, I had an HTC Evo 4g, the sd card in that never gave me any issues, it still has stuff on it, can I just stick that in my new phone?

If you install TWRP version 2.3.1.4 and up, no need to do anything to the card since it comes pre-formated to exFAT and works AWESOME!!!! Just install it through gooManager
that was indeed a nice deal hope u get it all fixed

im confused. no need to do anything special. what this guy said is truth!
I agree your card should work fine from the Evo 4G.
Assuming you have a PC, I would suggest copying all the content of your SDHC card to the PC. Put the card in the GN2, format the card. Then transfer the contents back to the card.
I don't know what you have on the card, but most likely you won't need everything. Some stuff will be specific to the Evo 4G.
I just came form the Evo 4g too, and this is what I did. The only difference is that I had this card in my Evo 4G instead of that 8GB that came with the Evo.
Thanks to everyone for their reply, but I found a great answer for others on using their 64GB MicroSD card with this problem in the future. I actually found the answer on another thread, but unfortnetly I lost the location.
So this is what you do. You can:
A) when you open the package to the Micro SD card, you can pop it into the phone and it will automatically format it for you.
The problem with this, is that it's going to format it into fat32 file system, but when you try to mount this in your Mac (using the included Micro SD card to SD card adapter), you will not be able to move files to the MicroSD card after mounting the card to the Mac. You'll be able to mount it and read files off the card, but will be unable to move files onto it.
B) You can format the card itself on a Mac or PC using Fat32, but you'll also run into the problem of moving files to the card from the Mac to the card afterwards. (You'll probably be able to do it on a PC, or Mac using a USB cable connected to the phone) but this may prove to be impractical to you.
The option I found works best ESPECIALLY FOR MAC USERS is option C)
C) Pop the Micro SD card into the adaptor, pop the Adapter into your SD Card slot (if using a newer Macbook pro). Wait for it to mount, and then open Disk Utilities and Cick on the Top root of your Newly inserted SD card.
Then click on the Partion tab.-> then Select Partion 1. -> Then enter a name to the right that you would like to Name your card. -> Then select ExFat from the drop down menu right below the Name Card field. Then select format. Viola. All done.
Your Mac will now move files to and from the card using your Mac (or a PC) without compatibility issues, and your phone will also recognize your card and write to it without problems. Any other method may cause compatibility issues when using your MicroSD card.
Hope this helps others out there.

that's wierd. OSX and read and write to FAT32. It's one of the more universal file systems in the PC world. FatEx is getting there, but it's not that well support in Windows, yet.
Thanks for the info nonetheless.

SD CARD

So like everyone else, im experiencing the same problem! I keep receiving messages like "preparing sd card" everytime I wake up my phone! This can't be due to the problem to sd card because I don't receive any message when my phones is awake.
Even I can listen to music for hours without sd card error.
However when I don't play any music or no processes is running that needs the sd card the error keeps appearing!
How do i resolve this! I think it's a software issue! Maybe because the quad core gorse to sleep which causes this problem? I don't know!
What are your views? What you think solves the problem?
Thanks

Would I be correct in guessing that you have a Sandisk SD card!
If so, that may very well be the problem.

hi,
i think it could be most likely software,
as i have stock 4.1.1,no root and took an old 8 gig sd ( think it is a sandisk ,not sure )
from one of my old htc phones ,working perfect. .
i have no problem such as you described " "preparing sd card"
it works 100% no errors nothing.
( and i forget sometimes i have ext. sd card in phone ! )
@imrhay
Try this.
Backup all your data on your SD Card
Reformat Your SD Card using your phone.
Then restart your phone.

[Q] 64gb sd Card problems

I have the AT&T Captivate glide with stock ICS 4.0.4. My computer refuses to connect with my phone and always gives the "driver blocked to incompatibility" or "device not recognized" error. So in order to copy anything over I have to use a SD card adapter. No other options.
So that being said, I have a 64gb sd card. my captivate glide recognizes it after it formats it. I've been trying to copy music over to it and it copies but somehow disappears after few minutes. All my other files like app back ups and emulator roms, and pics don't disappear.
Is anybody else having the same problem or is there a fix for my disappearing music or connection problem.
And I'm using windows 8 pro if it makes a difference at all.
Please and thank you, I couldn't find another thread that helped with my problem, I did try to look, sorry if I missed it.
64gb SD cards use the SDXC architecture, which the Glide doesn't actually fully support. I actually looked this up before I bought mine. I have heard that it *can* work but I wouldn't bet on it. I would suggest testing with an SDHC card (4gb to 32gb) to ensure you don't have the same problems.

AT&T unlocked & NFC enabled SIM card

Hi all,
I juz got a unlocked AT&T active s7 and have been using fine in my country ( not in USA ) . I'm on 7.0 nougat version BQA7 that installed via recovery.
I decided yesterday to have my conventional SIM card changed to NFC-Sim so that I could use it for my train fares in my country but apparently the apps I'm using says that my NFC SIM card is non NFC enabled Sim . I checked this Sim in my other phones and apparently is working well for NFC payment.
Question : as anyone of you here has got luck in using NFC SIM or its jus that AT&T disabled this feature in their s7A ? Or is nougat 7.0 that I'm using disabled NFC SIM card ?
Thanks , Any lights for me is greatly appreciated.
are you not able to use an app that uses the phones NFC ?
I'm using a NFCsim card that supposedly is able to be top up with values ( using Samsung pay) for my time town's transport fare. But the app for adding values detects the NFCsim card in my phone Sim tray as not a NFCsim card (but in fact it is) . I use the same card in a S7 edge and it works flawless. I was thinking if s7 active isn't compatible with NFCsim.
Btw , my s7 active has a working NFC.
