MoDaCo like rom based on 6.3.1 - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently running MoDaCo custom rom Gr8 for Kindle fire
I like that I get more apps on google play and other features only MoDaCo has
I do want 6.3.1 for other enhancements like stability and better speed
Rooted stock 6.3.1 doesnt have the features of MoDaCo
Is there any rom that is like MoDaCo that is based on 6.3

You can just root the stock 6.3.1 and then flash gapps and change your build.prop to access more apps.

I believe the modaco rom uses Galaxy Tab. Do you know how to edit the build.prop?

Look at the build.prop from the modaco Tom.and see what it looks like and then change whatever you need.

From what I can see from the MoDaCo Custom ROM the following line was commented out;
Code:
#ro.build.fingerprint=generic/blaze/blaze:2.3.4/GINGERBREAD/6.3.1_user_4107720:user/release-keys
This line was added below,
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/GT-P1000/GT-P1000:2.3.3/GINGERBREAD/XXJQ1:user/release-keys
You can copy the build.prop file to your computer and use Notepad++ to change it or you change it on the Fire with Root Explorer. If you do copy it to your computer remember to reset the permissions back after you copied it to the Fire!!
I attached the modded build.prop file, just remove the ".txt.

Ok so I'm running modaco rom now
I transfer the rom found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636038 to my sdcard
Then I flash without doing any wipe before I flash
Then I wipe dalvik and cache and reboot
Then I edit my build.prop and reboot
Is that correct

You can also just try the following:
1. Install the 6.3 MoDaCo if you don't have it already
2. While in TWRP, then flash the zip from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636038
- That adds the 6.3.1 functionality
- This will wipe out root/superuser
3. Wipe both caches and fix permissions
4. Boot
5. Use Kindle Fire Utility (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889) to reroot
I've done this successfully without any major problems. You can even flash the latest stock kernel from intersectRaven if you want to update that
- http://intersectraven.euroskank.com/kernels/Kindle Fire/2.6.35.14/20120223_1513/
- Use the one with Stock in the name
Hope that helps.

How do I do fix permissions and is it needed
I have voodoo so I don't need to reroot

Fix permissions is under the Advanced menu in TWRP. Probably not strictly necessary, but it doesn't hurt.

If you've already got gr8 installed, then just wiping caches and installing should work fine.

[ROM][UPDATED]Full Rom Deodexed US Wifi Android 3.2 / Tiamat Katana 2.0.0

Flash at your own Risk, I am not responsible for you breaking your device!
This is ONLY FOR THOSE USING A US WIFI XOOM THAT'S ROOTED ON 3.1 or 3.2 !!!
-There are now separate instructions for those coming from stock and those coming from Tiamat v1.1
This is the stock system that has already been deodexed. It now includes Tiamat's Kitana kernel (Stock GPU). For overclocking, just flash the 3.2 overclocked kernel after this rom
Enjoy!
To flash from stock rooted 3.1 (with any kernel):
1) Place on SD Card
- I did this by using root explorer
2) Make a NAND backup
3) Flash in CWR by going to install zip from sd card -> choose zip -> Deodexed32.zip -> Yes
To Flash from Tiamat 1.1
1) Place on SD Card, and reboot into recovery
2) Make a NAND Backup
3) Perform a full wipe (data, cache, dalvik)
4) Flash the rom and reboot.
The initial boot will take a minute...Be patient. If it gets to the boot animation, you should be good to go.
Changes:
v1.0 - Initial Release
v1.1 - Fixed Wifi Issue
v1.2 - Zipaligned
Known Issues:
Please report what you find so this can be updated.
NOTE: I did not wipe my system and did not experience any issues...IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS, PERFORM A FULL WIPE!

Patches: Use if you are already on v1.1
Deodexed and Zipaligned System
Credit:
Tiamat Team for their Kernel, excellent as always
Stachre for releasing the rooted update to 3.2...this is used in its entirety in this rom to bring those on 3.1 up to speed lol (this is why the file is a fat beast)
Update:
Several have reported that a wipe is necessary! If you have poor results the first time, please perform a full wipe and reflash before posting.
Also, had one person say that they had success flashing this on the Canadian Wifi Xoom, but I am not sure if that changed their system to the US system...not sure on the differences...
UPDATE
For those of you on a 3g XOOM who want to get in on the 3.2 action, it looks like bigdogrush has posted a patch for your devices that you can check out by going here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15787759&postcount=615
I have not used this and cannot verify that it works, but being that its from BigdogRush/ Team Tiamat, I am sure it'll work! If someone wants to try this and verify it working, that would be great.
ADD-ON!!!
For those of you who can't wait for a theme, this one is the HoneyBread theme that I have mostly brought up to 3.2...There are a couple things that I can't change until apktool is fixed, screenshots are attached to this post.

By entire system partition, what are you all looking for? I just made one that contains all of the contents in the folder /system/ ...is that what you guys were talkin about earlier
Fixed just deodexed.zip because it was not removing maps.odex from the system.

Not without the kernel. But maybe if you fastbooted the kernel and booted straight into recovery, it may work...I'll work on getting the kernel in there too.

Its the same thing...update.zip is just quicker than finding the zip on your sd card...you can take any rom and rename it update.zip and it will install right away...

(no root 6.3.1) Holo Launcher

Hey guys,
I have attempted sideloading Holo Launcher many times, and it always force closes. Can anyone help me? I am sideloading by uploading to Dropbox and downloading to my Kindle.
Thanks, -x10knight
It may be just be incompatible with the stock rom... I tried it on a jb rom and it works fine.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I find that odd, considering that the stock rom is Android 2.3 and the app is compatible with 2.2 and above.
If you move it to system/app on rooted stock it works

[Q] How to install AOSP browser on TW ROM?

Tuesday, November 20, 2012
XDA Members & fellow GT-N7100 Owners:
Do any of you know how to replace the stock TouchWiz browser with the latest AOSP browser? And no; I'm not talking about Chrome. I'm talking about the latest AOSP browser that's available in certain 4.0.4, 4.1.2, & 4.2 builds... although I've yet to actually see it included in a 4.2 ROM.
Anyway, what I've got is a folder full of various AOSP browser builds. My goal is to, hopefully, replace the stock TouchWiz browser on my N7100 with one of the AOSP browser *.apk's in the folder I mentioned. I'd prefer the browser *.apk from 4.2, but I'd settle for the one from 4.0.4 if it would actually run. My handset is currently running stock, rooted ALJ3. What's odd is that I'm perfectly able to replace the TouchWiz browser on my I9300 with the AOSP one, but the same procedure done on my N7100 results in the browser repeatedly crashing.
So, if anyone out there has managed to get this to work on the N7100, PLEEEEEASE LET ME KNOW HOW!!! Also, I'm pretty sure that I saw a thread about this some time back, and I don't want to start a thread that someone else has already started, but when I searched for that older thread, I couldn't seem to find it. Maybe the thread I'm remembering was for a different device or something and I got confused. Whatever the case, apologies in advance if I have indeed just created a thread covering a subject that soneone else has already covered.
In conclusion, I really need to get the latest AOSP browser up and running on my stock, rooted N7100. I would be very grateful to anyone who helps... very grateful. So, thank you in advance.
Thank you,
Ed Mc Knight (Mister_Mxyzptlk)

I think that requires you have the stock AOSP browser already installed. I actually got it working using the link provided a couple of posts up. I used the browser.apk to do it. Here were the steps I took:
Uninstall the Samsung Browser called Internet using Titanium Backup.
Reboot the phone.
Install the apk in the above thread.
Optionally use Titanium Backup to make the browser app a system app.
You should be good to go from there.

If you're looking for speed vs eye candy, try naked browser. It's the pure web kit wrapped in a simple UI, hence the name.

Million Thanks, worked
For those who want to do it the manual way (I prefer knowing what is being done)
(assuming you are rooted and have successfully mounted /system/app in rw and have busybox installed and have Browser.apk in /sdcard)
Code:
su
cd /system/app
cp -p SecBrowser.apk SecBrowser.apk.orig
cp -p SecBrowser.odex SecBrowser.odex.orig
rm SecBrowser.apk
rm SecBrowser.odex
sync
reboot
After reboot done install the apk file
Code:
su
cd /sdcard
pm install Browser.apk
Done
Thanks a lot, this is my faorive browser, I'm using it on my N7 also
Have a nice day all

Sure you can.....you can either just root the tablet and install Gapps OR you can flash MoDaCo ROM which is just like the stock UI but has been streamlined for smoother performance. Best bet would be MoDaCo

You'll find themes for TWRP in Kindle Fire Themes and Apps but they are outdated and probably won't work. I haven't seen any themes made for the newer TWRP releases.
Thanx Anyways
