[GUIDE]How to Enable .net Framework 3.5.1 Offline in Windows 8,8.1 - Windows 8 Development and Hacking

Many of us are using Windows 8 Developer or Consumer Preview.While using Windows 8 Beta version,sometimes you will get the message to install .net framework,for running those applications which require .net Framework to operate.
But it becomes quite difficult for us to download and install Microsoft .net Framework online.There can be many reason for that.
Know here question arises that Windows 8 comes with pre-installed .net framework application,then why it is asking for re-installation.It is because Windows 8 beta Setup doesn't install the .net
Framework,we have to manually install it.
How to Install / Enable .net framework 3.5.1 in Offline mode
Go on "Search" Option of Windows 8 and type cmd
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now Right click on the "cmd" and if you are using Windows 8 Developer Preview then click on Advanced and after that click "Run as Administrator".If you are using Windows 8 Consumer Preview then after right click on "cmd" click on Run as administrator option.
Insert your Windows 8 Installation Disc in the Drive
Now enter the Following command in "cmd"
Code:
dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /Source:G:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess
Please note:- Letter "G" in above command is the drive letter in which your Windows 8 installation Disc has been inserted.
Just click Enter button after writing the commands.
Wait for a minute and your .net Framework will be installed.

**Edit**, nevermind... haha

working good in my win 8 enterprise
FYI : if you have iso files of win 8, just mount it.

Works like the proverbial "Charm" on my WIndows 8 Enterprise where we sit behind an authenticating proxy making Windows 8 Update dang near impossible.

It's beta why not wait till official release then update to 7, god how long it took for Vista to be a stable OS, there have been some more posts about this and the answer tends to be install WMDC again, good luck.
the sad part is that with 7 being in beta, it out preforms vista a million to 1...
I should of wrote it.. yes i know 7 is still a beta, but when 99% of other programs work and better at that then vista. i see it as some other problem.

I was no way saying that Vista is in anyway good and have no computers with Vista on it my point is your not the only one with 7 issues and it's beta and will only run on your system till August 1, so why not just wait and use a stable OS XP Pro.
Here's some reading you may find help in one of the threadz http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...ssues&sa=Search&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
Have you gone to USB to PC to see if turning off advanced network functionality if off.
Run Wndows update with the phone connected.
ive been using win7 for about 3 months now...WMDC 6.1 runs fine (on 3 different builds of win7) and my phone syncs just fine. as the wacky brit said, screw with the usb option
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx
thats the one im using...
i'm actually thinking about installing windows7 live at work. i currently have vista (i like it personally. especially on my laptop at home) and am using windows 7 on a virtual machine.
im using it on both my laptops, my desktop and my work desktop. have been running it for a few months (since 6801) and love it...no major issues that have been show stoppers, but it is beta.
to make WMDC install on 7 beta, use this:
Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. In the User Account Control window, verify that Program name is Windows Command Processor, and then click Yes.
In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type or paste the following text at the prompt:
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions /va /f
Press Enter to install the solution.
If The operation completed successfully displays, close the Administrator: Command Prompt window to complete this procedure. If "ERROR: Access is denied" displays, repeat this procedure from the top, making sure you clicked Run as administrator in step two.

Yep...the infamous Windows 7 Installer bug.
After you delete that key ALLL of your programs that use the Windows Installer will install fine. WMDC x64 installed fine and now my HTC Touch syncs up beautifully with Windows 7. Windows update even found some new update 'Windows Mobile-based support' or something like that

No, doesn't work like that. You get 10. That's it.
It's only a matter of time before we figure out a registry setting or a tweak that will allow more.
Is there a way for you to release a 2nd version of your utility that ONLY specifies Emulator by default, and points to a network path for the emulator, instead of assuming the hard file path? ie. instead of assuming c:\program files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs etc. it would either ask you for the path to XDELauncher.exe and accept network paths, or you could specify the network share path in a config file?
I'm wanting to put a XAPs on an internal site, and use a shared emulator on a network share to launch the app in the emulator when clicked on.
I'll donate if you can do it

I believe it is possible to uninstall one of the sideloaded apps and then install another. There is a max on the number of sideloaded apps installed on a device. If you reach that max, you should uninstall one of the other sideloaded apps.
The chevronwp7 guys said at one time that it was just a setting that they could change easy? at least that is what it seemed to sound like? I may be off??

Does your installer still require the developer deployment tools to function, or can I remove the deployment and continue using your installer?

[UPDATE 18.12.10] Shared Homebrew projects

For homebrew app's we first need to unlock:

As people may know, Chevron have removed their unlocker download for WP7 so I thought I'd archive it and make it available for everyone here still:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q1T7WQMK
EDIT: Thanks to Cendaryn we also have the required security certificate - the easiest way (thanks to Talys) to install the cert and unlock your WP7 is to do as follows:
1. Unzip file, and attach chevronwp7.cer (see below for file) to an e-mail to yourself
2. Open email in WP7
3. Tap attachment once, turns it into a shield, tap it again, goes to install certificate screen with white letters on black screen
4. Click install at the bottom
5. Make sure registry is modified:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsPhone\ProxyPorts]“DeviceReg”=dword:000069C5
I think the WP7 developer tools from MS does this, but you can add it in manually (it's a 32bit DWORD)
6. Plug in phone and leave Zune running
7. Run chevronwp7.exe, click both checkboxes
8. Click unlock

Man I need a webserver on my phone.
davux said:
I've extended jmorrill's code to include the Winsock functions to listen. The example proves that one may listen on port 80.
One problem with this library right now is that it is IPv4 only. I tried to make things generic but that was quite hard, I'm also really not very familiar with native Winsock anyway.
dl.dropbox.com/u/12359/PhoneNetworkingSample_with_listen.zip
[edit] and here's a really simple (and really hacked together - you've been warned) webserver!
dl.dropbox.com/u/12359/wp7_webserver.zip
The code is definitely *preview quality* - I pulled it together just now because I don't think I'll be able to work on this for a few days, so it'd be a starting point but I'm sure it's buggy.

I've enhanced my Webserver sample to support reading from the device (where allowed), as well as reading/writing IsolatedStorage
//dl.dropbox.com/u/12359/WP7Homebrew_Webserver.zip
The XAP is located in the Webserver project.
I am not finished, there are several issues:
- I have not implemented support for getting the local endpoint, so you need to know your phones IP address
- There is a bug somewhere that causes a problem when uploading larger files.
- There is no UI
- No authentication!
To access the webserver, open the app on your phone (it will disable the idle timer and run behind the lock screen)
//phone_ip/IsolatedStorage
//phone_ip/Windows
IsolatedStorage is a special case (virtual directory that uses the SDK IsolatedStore APIs), the filesystem is mounted at the root of the webserver. Note that if you navigate to //phone_ip/, you will not see anything, as we are not able to list the contents of the root directory.
I am working to create a real socket library that mimics System.Net/.Sockets, and System.IO for file access. TcpClient and TcpListener are in a mostly functional state already.
I'll add in registry and other capabilities once those two components are stable.
Most of the code came from jmorrill.

I download the 002 file. In this there is a native.zip. I unzipped it and got 2 folders:
1. COM
Renamed it to COM2008 and opened this in VS2008, did a rebuild. below is the output.

In the post build event of the COM project, I copy the output file to several projects of mine. Just remove post build events and copy the file manually to your own project.

[GUIDE]WINDOWS 8 LIVE USB : install it on a USB KEY - UPDATE 11/01/13 - RTM TOO !!!

Hello to all ...
I have received many requests from some other forum users with whom I collaborate x and I am here today to explain how I solve a problem that does not yet seemed to have a solution ...
I WANTED TO INSTALL WINDOWS 8 ON A USB KEY AND ON THIS
THEN IT RUNS DIRECTLY !!!
I'm not talking about putting the ISO on a USB Key and then install it on your hard disk of a PC but installing it directly on it so it's ready to run on every PC on which we put the key.
NB I would like to remind everyone that the version of Windows 8 used from myself for these experiments is Windows Customer Preview 8 32 BIT, it is freely and can be found on Microsoft's site and downloading is free. This is not the ultimate version 'cause Win 8 is not out yet (due out in late 2012, perhaps) or a pirated copy. Therefore I don't intend to encourage or push someone to piracy. All of following is perfectly legal.
A few simple steps and an afternoon of testing. Here's how I did:
01) download the ISO of Windows 8 Customer Preview from Microsoft's Site (English)
02) note the relative activation KEY (always English)
03) unzip the ISO of windows with WinRAR to any folder on your PC
04) unzip the file /SOURCES/INSTALL.WIM with "UniExtract" (universal extractor) in any folder on your PC
05) have a partition of at least 12 GB free on your USB stick
06) format it, if u want, as NTFS format with Cluster Size = 1.024 bytes or 2.048 bytes
07) from the disk management of windows on that partition, run the "mark partition as active" so that the PC can then use it to boot
08) copy the entire contents of extracted INSTALL.WIM to that partition (except the trash folder, RECYCLE.BIN)
09) open the attachment that I put here in RAR, copy the 2 files on the USB KEY and from the DOS command line ( if not works, run DOS Shell as administrator ):
10) bcdboot.exe X:\windows /s X:
11) bootsect /nt60 X: /force
where X is the letter of the partition used in the USB stick. Reboot and ensure that the PC starts from USB stick. In figure 01 you can see my 8 partitions on the same USB drive where I have Windows 7 32 & 64 BIT, WINDOWS 8 32 & 64 BIT, LINUX Pinguy 32 & 64 BIT, Easeus Todo Backup Recovery with Linux shell.
NB The above guide works with the English version of Win 8 Customer Preview 32 BIT as well as the same 64 BIT only that the second requires a bit' more size (about 3 GB +). My guide is the minimum requirement under the which wraps everything but if u want it running more lean, fast and efficient, then we say that the ideal is 16 GB free for the 32 BIT and 20 GB for the 64 BIT.
The first start will make the whole configuration of the system, will ask for the key to activate the free copy of the system, your name, a password that you
can create, etc. From second boot, windows 8 will start in half a minute on a dual core processor with 2 GB of RAM. I remind you that booting from USB, will never be as fast as if it were installed on the hard disk, unless you have a USB 3.0 and never the same also in this case...
THIS IS A PREVIEW, THIS METHOD IS NOT YET FOUND IN THE WEB. I CREATED IT ONLY YESTERDAY AFTERNOON BEING ABLE TO DO IT WORKS. MY PROBLEM WAS THE COMMAND LINE FROM DOS BUT NOW IT'S PERFECT AND WORKS PERFECTLY ... SHARE THIS HOW TO IF YOU WANT, JUST PLEASE REMEMBER TO WRITE MY NAME ... PYCON IS ALWAYS QUALITY !!

UPDATE 11/01/2013 => WINDOWS 8 RTM 32 & 64 Bit
Hello everyone ... After a while 'on the run, I remembered having to try again with the release of Windows 8 RTM Build 9200, then finally ... 2 little hours for testing a program of which I already knew the existence ( not new, just some persons often combine this program with wrong DOS command or not right card format ) et voilà ! IN A FEW STEPS, WINDOWS 8 LIVE USB ... RTM VERSION AND PREVIEWS TOO ( I tried with my old Consumer Preview, I assume that it might work with the very old Developer one ). However, if the preview doesn't work, my previous method still works for sure with the previews...
Pre-requisites:
A) have the ISO Microsoft Windows 8 RTM ( remember men... the free trial is 90 days)
B) have a PRIMARY partition at least 12 GB free space on the USB drive formatted in NTFS with the choice between
- Cluster Size = 512 bytes
- Cluster Size = 1024 bytes
- Cluster Size = 2048 bytes
C) have the two little programs WINRAR (including trial version) & GIMAGEX (opensource)
Here's how:
01) open with WINRAR the ISO of Windows 8 RTM ( or the release u want to use )
02) extract the file /SOURCES/INSTALL.WIM to the hard disk ( where you want )
03) open with GIMAGEX ( Image Extractor Tool ) the file INSTALL.WIM... This's a small portable utility, download it, unzip it where you want and open the executable in 32-bit or 64-bit EXE depending on your system:
- go to 2nd tab "APPLY"
- in the 1st field "Source", click once on Browse and select your file INSTALL.WIM
- in the 2nd field "Destination", click once on Browse and select the root of your USB drive (eg X: )
- in the 3rd field "Image" you can check by clicking on Select that it's the NUMBER 1
- "Verify" not flagged
- "Check" not flagged
- click on APPLY and wait ... here it's stolen to me about 20 minutes ... depends on key and system ...
04) from disk management builted in windows, choose the partition of the USB key used and right click to "mark partition as active" so that the PC can then use it to boot
05) open a DOS command line with administrator privileges
06) go to the directory of the key X: \ Windows \ System32 where X: is the partition of the USB key
07) bcdboot.exe X:\windows /s X: /f ALL
FINISHED!
ENJOY IT !!! PYCON RULEZ !!!
wow, that's impressive. thanks for this guide, im gonna try it out very soon

No, because the proccesor in your prime has an ARM architecture so it wan't boot a 32 bit system. It also doesn't have BIOS to boot from USB.

Somebody have lenovo tablet try them but i dont knw about the chipset

It depends of performance of your PC.
INSTALL.WIM is 2,5 average size file, so on my I7 the uncompress
got me waiting for about 6 / 7 mins... So try, if u jave a dual core
it's possible u've to wait up to 12 / 15 mins to uncompress it...
If you format the USB where W8 is on, then its normally removed?

Yes, but whwn I had it installed on a second partiton of my HDD and then formatted it, I couldn't boot back to windows 7

No man, u can't format the usb key on which u've installed Win 8.
'cause for the system, it's the C: and so the system partition, u
can't format it, resize it, remove it from usb tray icon...
@pycon: I think he meant that he wanted to format it from Windows 7 (or whatever his other OS is), and I think it's safe to do that.
@k.janku1: That's because Windows 8's dual boot screen is shown AFTER Windows 8 actually boots, so before deleting Windows 8 you first have to remove it from the boot list in "msconfig" (just type that in the search), and if you already formatted your HDD partition where Windows 8 is installed, then your only solution is to repare your MBR using a Windows DVD or some other boot tool like SuperGRUB (it can restore Windows MBRs too, not just Linux!)

MD5 CHECKSUMS
Sometimes downloading from the internet can yield a corrupt download. To prevent this, make sure you always check the md5 checksum (also known as "md5sum") of the file. This method verifies the digital integrity of the file by verifying its digital signature with the MD5 algorithm.
After you download each file, make sure to check that the md5sum matches what is given.

How to check the md5sum of a file:
Windows:
For windows you need to download the md5sum binary. I recommend the one from my dev-host.
After that, copy the file you're trying to verify to the directory where where you downloaded the "md5sum.exe"
Once that is finished, do SHIFT+RIGHT CLICK (inside the folder window) and choose "Open command window here"

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then type the following ("fileNameHere" must include the extension):
Code:
md5sum fileNameHere
That will output a hash, which you can compare to the ones above.
Linux: No need to download anything, md5sum binaries are included in all distros, as far as I know.
Open a terminal and type the following ("fileNameHere" must include the extension):
Code:
$ cd path/to/download/folder
$ md5sum fileNameHere
Two important notes:
This method can be used with any files you download, as long as the download site (or the dev themself) provides the correct md5sum.
If any of the digits do not match exactly, you need to download the file again.
Updated OP with md5sum how-to and checksums.

dont think so for Ubuntu
Updated Drivers to version 4.1.0.001.
Two important note, from here on out I will also be including fast links for the Sync setup files (HTC Sync and Sync Manager), as well as a SyncManager_XXXXX_STRIPPED.exe which will literally be ONLY the Sync Manager program, all drivers stripped out from it (as in, it won't install any drivers, hence a much smaller file size).
You will now be able to find the FULL setup files for HTC Sync and Sync Manager inside the Original HTC Sync Folder of the linked mediafire folder in the OP. This will provide a much faster download if you do want to install either one, rather than a capped speed download from the HTC site itself.
Well here's the changelog

Ubuntu doesn't use "drivers", instead it maps the vendor ID's of each manufacturer to be able to access the device.
For how to set it up, check out my mini-guide here:
Android rules file
I can't get fastboot to work on win8 64bit. I installed the drivers, adb works but when u get in fastboot it's just an unknown device. I know adb and fastboot need different drivers, I also tried uninstalling all drivers and turning off driver certification and reinstalled everything again, still no luck. The phone shows up as myHtc even in fastboot but it says it doesn't work properly. Any idea? It works with win 7 and xp, just win 8 gives this problem.
