[Q] 'Facebook chat' is turned OFF but still shown as Online (linked via Messenger) - Windows Phone 7 General

I have my FB account linked to my Messenger.
In the WP7 'messaging' settings I've turned off the FB chat. However whenever I go online for Windows Live Messenger I seem to appear as 'online' on Facebook.
As a consequence I get Facebook messages delivered to Messaging, but because chat is turned off.. I can't actually reply to the messages.
It's very annoying.
My work around has been to go to http://touch.facebook.com > Chat > Go Offline.
Had anyone else experienced this problem &/or know of a solution?

Your phone settings will not change the computer settings. You have to turn off or unlink FB from your WLM if you don't wish to have chat on.

[Q] Facebook contacts added to phone

Hi,
I've got an issue, not a massive one but it bugs me nonetheless.
Currently, when I tap the Phone button from the home screen it brings up a list which shows my recent call list, if I scroll down I get a long list of all my contacts. The thing I find annoying is that the long list includes all of my Facebook "friends" that have a telephone number listed.
What I would like is for this list to only contain my contacts (copied over from my SIM), and for the ones that are linked to a Facebook account, to have their status etc updated. I do not want my random Facebook "friends" to be in the list.
The most recent thing I've done to try and solve this issue is to go into the Facebook app on the phone and change the 'Sync Contacts' settings (Menu-> Settings) to 'Don't sync'. I then went into (phone) Settings-> Applications-> Manage Applications-> All (tab)-> Contacts storage-> Clear Data. I then copied my contacts back over from the SIM. (I've also tried the 'Sync with existing contacts' option as well)
All was well for a while, my contacts linked up again and I got facebook details for my contacts when calling them. However I noticed to my annoyance that my Phone list now contains my facebook contacts again!
I notice under Settings->Accounts and Sync I have two (removable) Facebook accounts, one is Facebook, the other is Facebook for HTC Sense. Does anyone know if it would help to remove either of these accounts?
Can anyone help me find a way to solve this issue (preferably without extra software or going through the People menu)?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Grim.
I just fixed this myself.
I think it's something to do with how HTC Facebook interacts with official Facebook. If I turned of syncing on both (but left contact sync disabled in both) I'd still get contacts in Phone (and also in suggestions in sms app). If I removed both, then added Facebook official only I'd still get them.
In the end, opening up Facebook on my PC and going into privacy then apps and disabling Facebook for HTC Sense seemed to solve it to me. I could then use the official Facebook app without getting all these contacts I'd never use.
I didn't care about getting contact pictures and stuff so I never tried letting official Facebook sync with existing contacts only, but it might work properly.
Hope this helps, completely unscientific but it seemed to for me!

Hi JBrizz thanks for your reply.
I didn't think of logging into the facebook website to disable anything. I'll give that a try.
In the meantime I've fiddled about with the accounts in 'Accounts and Sync'. I've tried deleting both the Facebook and Facebook for HTC Sense accounts.
After deleting both I went into the Facebook app and signed in, which recreates the account in Accounts and Sync. I set the sync options in the app to not sync any contacts. I waited around for a while and no extra contacts (from Facebook) appeared in my Phone list.
I then went into the Facebook app and changed the sync settings to 'sync with existing contacts' - which I assumed should only sync the data for the people currently in my phone book? Anyway after a few minutes I checked an all of my Facebook friends were now in my Phone list AGAIN
I started from fresh again and tried a similar thing with the other Facebook for HTC Sense account - I had to recreate this in the Accounts and Sync settings screen.
Again after a few minutes all my Facebook friends where there on my Phone list
Maybe this functionality isn't available with this phone / app?
Anyone else have any ideas?
It is a google problem, not a HTC problem.
The HTC app is doing what it should be doing. If you go to the people app, click on your contact (far left) and then menu -> view you can see the facebook option is unchecked.
However the Phone dialer (google product) just syncs everything.
There is a issue no for this, 10618 @

(unfortunately I can't post links as I am a newbie!!)
Best thing to do is you guys reply and make this defect more and more noticeable.
I've posted on the google issue site, cheers for the link!

I don't wanna see Windows Live updates in "What' New" feed in People

Is there any way to turn this off? I use my gmail-account to sign in to messenger (windows Live Messenger) and fot contacts in the People-Hub and do not wanna see status updates from messenger in the "whats new" feed... I can't find a way to turn this of.
When I go to "email & accounts" and choose "Windows Live", I cannot delete it, the only thing I can do with it is sync email (hotmail wich I do not use). The text "Attention Required" is also shown.
I therefore finds it weird that my phone shows me status updates from messenger, kinda messy

[Q] SOLVED. How do you setup Facebook Chat in Messaging Hub in Mango

Update: Got it working!
Here is how to connect your Messaging Hub to Facebook Chat:
On your phone, remove the Facebook account setup
On your PC (or in IE9 on the phone), go to home.live.com.
Under "Messenger social" click "Connect Facebook"
Go through the steps to connect Facebook to your Live account
On your phone, add the Facebook account under 'Settings' / 'Email and Accounts'
When it asks if you want to connect to Facebook Chat, tap 'Not now'.
Let it sync
Facebook Chat should automatically be activated as long as it has finished its initial syncing
If you want to check if it's activated:
Go to the Messaging Hub
Tap 'Settings'
Facebook Chat is the first option and should be activated. If not, you can activate it now.
Initial post: I have been attempting to setup Facebook Chat through the Messaging Hub in Mango, but after it says "We're connecting to Facebook" it just puts me on the Mobile version of my Facebook homepage but doesn't ask me to do anything and is not setup on the Messaging Hub when I hit the back arrow.
Has anyone had success connecting the Messaging Hub to Facebook Chat? If so, how did you go about doing it? Changing settings in IE9 doesn't seem to do anything about it.
Ahh same here, fb chat worked in mango b2 but once I updated to 7712 it stopped working

Mine wasn't working in the first Beta 2 either. I suppose this is a Beta limitation so hopefully it'll be fixed in the final version.
You can try linking your Facebook and Windows Live on your computer. I had this setup initially and never had a single issue with fb chat on any mango beta.

You can try the menthod i am trying.
1. Link your Live ID with Facebook (Piece of Cake), make sure you can chat with someone on Facebook through Windows Live Messenger (On the PC)
2. Add Facebook to your phone
3. Choose "not now" when it asks you if you want Facebook chat on yourphone
4. Let it sync
5. You are done.
If you don't understand that much, just shoot me a reply, i will guide you step by step.
Mine didn't work until I performed these steps....
1) Go to Home.Live.com and choose to sync Facebook with my Live account
2) Remove the Facebook account from my phone
3) Re-add the Facebook account to my phone
4) Re-attempt to enable Facebook Chat on my phone, which then worked properly
It's been great ever since!
Got it working! I deleted the Facebook account setup on my phone, associated my Live ID with Facebook through live.com, re-added the Facebook account on my phone, and it worked. Thank you guys!

Control over push notifications

Hi,
I just got a tablet next to my Gnex, and i am trying to find the best way to avoid double notifications when at home, on both the phone and the tablet.
I have realised (and pls tell me if it's not true) that even if I disable sync, this applies only to google services (calendar, gmail, ecc.) and not to whatsapp and facebook.
I could disable the whole data connection (and wifi) but then I won't be able to receive whatsapp messages (I found out I can't have the same number configured on both tablet and phone, so I kept whatsapp on phone only).
So in practice, when at home, I would like to have the tablet fully in sync with google services and receiving facebook and twitter push notifications, and the phone receiving only whatsapp messages: the only way i found so far is to disable google sync and then go into twitter and facebook settings and disble push from there.
Do you know of any other way?
Well, I don't have a tablet so I'm kinda useless on real solutions, but you could use Tasker to automate the process you're doing now by making a profile that activates when your phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi.

yeah, the tablet part is not actually important and only half of the story.
What i really need is a program that allows me to record a sort of macros, so that with the press of a button I can: [1] disable google sync [2] open facebook and disable push notifications [3] same for twitter
The real problem here is to find a tasker-like app that allows me to automate apps

I can confirm your problem, I have it too:/ And don't know how to solve it. I tried almost everything - factory restore of phone, remove/add FB connection in my Hotmail profile, be on phone on 3G/wifi only etc... I'm having these problems till Friday or Saturday. On my LUMIA 820 with WP8.
Now I tried it on girlfriend's Lumia 710 (WP7.8) and it is the same. No incoming messages... She also can see online contacts and send message (it is send immediately and I can see it on computer)...
Does anybody know where the problem is???? Many thanks in advance
So I made a research and these messigings are only sync when the phone is internet connected, which is really bad cuz we can't see what is new when we are online, alot of people want to have the Facebook messanger on their wp as android and ios, so we want facebook messanger for wp, or somekind of fix.
I don't understand Facebook chat is online service, so it is clear that our phone has to be connected to internet. Some messanger app is not needed, that integrated FB chat is really good. But now from some reason it doesn't work for me. And on the internet there no similar topics, it seems it touchs only two of us:/
status.live.com also says there is no problem...
It really makes me angry...
Solved! For test I add into mobile new FB account. And everything worked. So I tried it again with my normal FB account. In Live account I remove FB account. In FB settings I removed Microsoft application and then add this account into mobile. Now it works standardly like a charm) Hoooray.
I didnt work for me, it reqired to intall Microsoft in FB again and it's all the same
