Smart update on JB?? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm now using JB but the update still download the entire apk instead of only the changes.. Or am I missing something?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Dunno if they've started that yet. And I don't think that's JB specific iirc. Thought I remember it being 2.3 and above. Its all handled on Google's end.

Sounds like it is enabled on all apps by default on anything 2.3 and up:
For Android devices with the Google Play, we launched the following at Google I/O today:
Smart app updates: For Android 2.3, Gingerbread devices and up, when there is a new version of an app in Google Play, only the parts of the app that changed are downloaded to users’ devices. On average, a smart app update is a third the size of a full apk update. This means your users save bandwidth and battery and the best part? You don’t have to do a thing. This is automatically enabled for all apps downloaded from Google Play.

Now I know.. So this mean that the Google Play will get an update not only on Jellybean.. Very smart move by Google!! Thanks for the info..
But did Google quote the release date of the update?

No. No release date. My best guess is that it will coincide with the actual release of JB later this month.

Unfortunately only coming to Nexus S for the time being within the 2.3.4 Gingerbread update but hopefully won't take forever for them to release 2.3.4 to manufacturers to allow our GSII's to have it as that would be a great addition.
EDIT: It's being worked on by devs here to bring to other phones sooner: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793
Doesn't seem to be working correctly yet but I'm sure they'll have it up and running soon enough

Android market update(3.1.3)

Few days back google gave a major update to android market with version 3.0.27.
Now they have again released a update with some minor modification. You can either wait to get auto update or just download the .apk from the link

Installed this and it runs fine. Not sure what the difference is.

I haven't got the update yet, but with the added security it may be the update that allows Vodafone users to pay for apps using their monthly bill instead of a credit/debit card or whatever

As I posted in another thread when new market came out few weeks ago I have to say it again:
This market sucks rly bad. It's ultra slow and laggy. Sliding lags, sometimes when u slide right or left the windows slides up and down.
When u press menu and press "my apps" it loads forever till all ur apps appear or it gets into "endless searching mode^^" and u have to restart market.
So nothing has changed since first update and many others have same problem.
Google should do their job and bring a market that is stable and fast as the current one before bringing such a crap.
To the design:
Some ppl like it some not. I am one of these who don't. It's not trendy, not stylish just confusing. In combination with the above bugs it's unusable for me.
my specs:
i9000 2.3.4 JVR with 1.5.0 [email protected],2ghz and lagfix enabled

The Market Enabler No longer works with these New Markets. Planning to stick with the old one.
Works like a charm on 2.3.4 (JVQ).
Had to use the '-r' switch with 'adb install' to install, otherwise I got a message that the app was already installed (even though the version numbers were different)

I don't know why but not all apps are showing the +1 option and its not that scheme where you can only +1 downloaded apps as some downloaded are not showing +1 option too!

Has anyone gotten pushed the new market?

Has anyone actually gotten pushed the new market on an Ics build. I an not talking about the playstore update, I am talking about the update after that added tabs. I know the APK is out there, but I don't feel comfortable downloading random apks from media fire that have access to my credit card.

I have not but my wife did on her stock phone.
Easiest way:
Just delete the data from your Market app in Settings, and the next time you open your Market app normally, it'll update itself, straight from Google's servers.

It updates to the play market but not the tabbed play market. I suspect it is because I am on ics.

TB just issued an update to support it but they also left a note:
What's in this version:
• Supports Google Play Store 3.5.15. Please note: Play Store is capricious with Market links because it relies more on Google's servers. If you want more control we encourage you to ask Google. It's their app. Let them know the goal you want to achieve. Once they provide a way, we'll give you full control of it!
• Improved app backup code: supports APK files with non-standard names.
• [PRO] Added "Disable Market app Auto Updater".
• Speed optimization & minor GUI tweaks.
• Updated translations.

But hey it doesn't matter...

Gimme a sec while I call google and Ask
C&P androidpolice
What's New?
I've looked through it, and from what I can tell, it has some sort of additions related to the new functionality for restricting user access to Google Play. I suspect this is used in multi-user situations, where the primary user doesn't want secondary ones to be able to install things, but I haven't been able to confirm it just yet on the Nexus 7. Maybe there is a new menu that shows up in Android 4.3...
Another theory proposed by commenter Markus is that it's possible that this new functionality is meant for restricting Play Store's usage on devices that aren't licensed to use it and don't come with it pre-installed, which would... suck, though I don't see how Google could enforce it.
There is a new Activity called com.google.android.finsky.activities.AccessRestrictedActivity and this related new string:
<string name="limited_user_text">"You don't have permission to use Google Play Store."</string>
That's about it based on a quick teardown but if you notice anything else, please drop us a line below.
