What's the case? - Galaxy S III Accessories

yes, another guys asking "whats that case that i dont know the name of..."
...theres a case that i saw yesterday on the forums and ive been looking for the past hour for it and im trying to get the features down because it was the perfect case for me exceeeeeeept....... theres a leather strip that sits between the case and the battery cover and i do not buy anything leather or that has leather as vegan...
does anyone know what case im talking about?
if not then can you suggest a good case thats minimal bulk yet will protect well. it doesnt have to be ultra thin but something nice, sleek and protective.
i have looked in the "cases" thread and saw nothing that tickled my pickle, so im hoping one of you nice boys can point me in a better direction.
Thanks gents!

maybe if you mimed it out, it might be easier for us to figure out what you are talking about.
is it a pouch where you just insert the phone inside and take it back out to use it?
is it a flip cover either going sideways or downwards?
is it a badger? is it a clown with a jar of pickles?

This?

if it was a pouch, i would have said pouch. I wouldnt have said "there's a leather strip that sits between the case and the battery cover." I would have just said "its like a pouch..."
if it was a flip cover, i would have stated "there's a flip cover feature" that would be most obvious to stand out and be able to describe.
as for asking if it's a badger or a clown with a jar of pickles... well, i apologize i wasn't able to describe a very general object that barely stands out visually to someone on the internet that i didn't know much about and made apparent that i was uninformed on it's distinctiveness from similar cases other than the leather strip.
good thing we have people like nsx280ps who are able to use their spider senses to detect which one i was hoping to learn more about.

Likewise if it was a hard case with a leather inlay, you could have said that and people would have had a better idea of what you were talking about.
I was trying to help by narrowing down the form factor but I do apologise for my flippant remarks on such a grave matter.
Glad you found the case you were looking for

Suggestions for a Protective Cover

I've had my dash now for 6 months and noticing im becoming less and less careful with it. I just saw on Amazon.com there are a few to choose from. I like to keep my phone in my pocket.
Any info or suggestions on what everyone else uses and likes would be greatly appreciated.

Didn't find much help in that thread. Just long discussions about whether aluminum cases block signals.

There are some links from Pudge and also views on cases i was just about to say that it's not exact subject but there are some ideas.
I use a leather case.
There is a selection on here http://www.wirelessground.com/tdahtcexac.html reason i gave other link is as the Aluminium cases look very sturdy.
Iv been leaning towards the cheaper silicon covers or clear plastic snap on's but I wanted some insight of whether they are worth having or if i should just save my pennies to buy a cool aluminum or leather cover.
I like the idea of having the screen covered though.
Thanks for the info Stylez.

I used to use a silicon case on the MDA Compact but found that crap would get between the silicon and the phone, the leather case does me as i only tend to have the case on when leaving the house but the Aluminium cases do look pucka and bet they would keep the phone in better shape for longer.
I really like the silicon covers... they are not bad in my opinion... you can get them for like less than 5 dollars off ebay...
I have a couple of the plastic covers and they are great. I wish they were rubbery (there are some that are) but the durability is great, they have protected my Dash very well. I only had one silicone cover and my complaint with it was pocket lint.
If you are a pocket person, I think you will like the plastic. If you are not, the silicone is "grippier" and thinner. I cant comment on the metal ones, they always scared me.
Haha metal ones look weird in my opinion. And yes I agree with you on the pocket lint... sometimes that is a pain...
rubberized cover
this is the one I have on mine and I've dropped it a few times and its quite strong against scratches and it cradles it pretty well. The downside is if your phone happens to freeze from overclocking or from doing tweaks, its a pain in the butt to remove for the battery or to change the sd card. To me is so worth it. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Black-Rubbe...4|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50
this the case i am using , http://www.wirelessground.com/tdaboglsccec.html
i needed a belt clip style to match the custom made setup i have in my vehicle from a previous phone .
holds the phone upright and secure in my field of vision even if i roll over ( yes it is an offroad vehicle ) i will try to get a pic uploaded tonight.
also , it can fit over a 1550 Mah extended battery , if you remove the back cover .
I´m using this and I love it!

Dose covering the top set of buttons impair the use in any way??
I wouldn't mind covering all the buttons if they all worked. Kinda like a keyboard condom.

wow that skin looks amazing...im actually in the market for something of this nature right. thanks for the informative review
Looks really nice, but no protection to speak of.
Looks nice, but doesn't seem practical!

Actually it provides quite a bit a protection. I've dropped my phone before and its been fine. Not as much as case protection, but, not as bulky either...

Its very practical. I've had a similar skin on my phone for a few months now and the best part is you can STILL use a case on top of it if you so choose. That way no dirt particles can get into your case and scratch your phone...
I don't know what kind of protection people are looking for?
I have had invisible shield as well as clear coat... and I stuck with clear coat for my Atrix because your finger will slide much more smoothly across the surface of the phone. Pinch to zoom would always be tedious with the invisible shield.
The only protection this offers is scratch protection. If you need something that's shock absorbent, then a case is probably the way to go.
The best way to prevent an accident from happening is to be abstinent in the first place though
Sorry for bumping a dead thread, but i just ordered this skin from Amazon.com and have a question about it, and didn't want to make a new thread about it.
is there anything preventing me from using this screen protector, AND my hard Speck case? i want the most protection possible without making my phone too bulky, and this seemed like a good idea to me. i don't see why i couldn't, but would just like some clarification. i still have time to cancel my order, after all.

Just a Kickstand?? Pleeeasee

Anyone know a nice simple kickstand we can use for the Kindle Fire? I bought a leather case from Amazon for $25, but haven't grown much into liking the bulkiness it adds :/
This is the case I bought btw: (http://www.amazon.com/splash-SIGNAT...FSOQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323321993&sr=8-1)
Please tell me someone knows of a nice kickstand? I may even trade the case for it if interested.
My thoughts exactly, I purchased a Case-Mate for my Epic 4G Touch solely because it has a kickstand
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=08APJ1G512C5J00EFZHP
So I was looking for a case for the Kindle Fire that has a kickstand and decided to buy this
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00656XUGY/ref=oh_o00_s01_i01_details
Landscape and portrait, I hope I don't think it's too bulky like you feel your case is, although they do look very similar
Elephant, do you have that white case?
//Tapatalk.KindleFire//
I don't have this, but it seems to be a much thinner option with a kickstand...http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle...4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1323327074&sr=1-4 not sure if its what you had in mind.
Or a more literal answer to your question of "Just a kickstand" http://www.amazon.com/Compatible-kickStand-computer-aluminum-reinforced/dp/B005VCIARW/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1323327232&sr=1-1-catcorr Which is literally just a kickstand, seems impractical though.
That last pic you posted of the white stand is probably closest to what I have in mind, but it's ugly and bulky as hell! lol
If I could find something that looked just like an L and was lightweight and thin, I would be in heaven.

Maybe you can convince them to make a bit larger version of this?

But no.. in all seriousness I haven't seen any great solutions for what you are describing yet. I'll be interested to see what people come up with, though.
LOL, if that works, that'd be awesome

Looking for a "clear" case to protect my S3

I know this has probably been asked about a thousand times (if not more) and you're all probably sick of answering it, but searching for the word "clear" and "case" in the forum shows up a ton of stuff, so I figure it might be easier for me to just ask outright.
I'm basically looking for a clear, or as close to clear case as I can get, to protect my S3 but without adding too much bulk and weight. I have the blue S3 and I don't see the point in putting a black case around it, so does anyone know of any? I was looking on Amazon and they have a load of clear TPU cases (that are all pretty cheap) but I worry about getting third party or unofficial cases incase they cover the ports or something silly
So yeah, hit me with your recommendations guys and gals! And thanks

I have order two different clear cases and will be doing reviews of them as soon as they come in, which should be next Monday at the latest. Both of the ones I ordered were advertised and pictured as completely clear. You are right - there are a ton of them out there and, while seemingly the same, I don't think they are. I'll have pictures/impressions if you don't mind being patient. However, I'm sure you'll get plenty of results in this thread.
Good Luck!
Awesome! I look forward to your reviews. Would you mind posting the links in here when you put them up, just so that I definitely look at them and find them easily?
Thanks a lot

I have a clear TPU case from Handhelditems.com and I really can't rave enough about it. Super thin, fits great, and is totally transparent. For the price you can't beat it.

I just got this case last night and haven't had enough time with it to write/record a proper review, so I thought I'd direct you to my pictures of it in another thread on this forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30362349&postcount=50
My first impressions: very light and virtually zero bulk. The case must be less than 1mm thick, so you can hardly notice that is even there. It clearly (no pun intended) will protect the back of the phone quite well; however, one can notice that the top and the bottom of the phone aren't well protected. This is unfortunately the drawback to non-bulky hard cases, and other shell cases have the same issue (such as my elago G5 Breathe Case that I posted in that same forum thread). I will be getting other clear cases in the coming days and should be able to post pictures and impressions of them in this forum.
I have clear Belkin case. I want to sell. Bought for 30 from best buy. Asking 20

I've come close to buying this one a couple of times.

That's the one i'm using right now. It's a "Frosted" clear case... in that it's not entirely transparent, but you can still see some blue through it. Can actually still see the AT&T and Galaxy S3 logo's plain as day for some odd reason through it. If you'd like, i could snap a few quick pics.
Beware: Those clear (transparent) cases, tend to turn yellow over time.
I have the one from Monoprice as well. I really like it, and for the price, you can't beat it if you want a clear case and minimum bulk.

Case: Best performance/small ratio?

Now I know everyone will have different opinions about this, but im sure im not the first one to think this. What in your opinion is the case with the best protection to non bulky factor? We all know you could put the phone in a huge case that will save it from the zombie apocalypse or could wrap the phone in paper and call it a case. When looking at some ultra thin cases like the rock quicksand, I wonder if there is something slightly bigger that will protect alot more (and same thing when looking at some of the bigger cases-wondering if there is something slimmer that will protect a tiny bit less). There seems to be a sweet spot that im looking for.
