Best Screen Protector - Galaxy S III Accessories

Hi All,
Currently have a One X, love the phone, apart from the battery life and the locked bootloader. However it has managed to "gain" two 1 cm scratches that are really quite deep and very visible.
So I now have a Blue S3 on order, due with me on Monday, and I don't want to find myself in the same boat in terms of screen scratches, I just can't deal with having the screen messed up (maybe I'm a bit OCD).
Anyway, to the moral of the story, can people please give me suggestions for the best screen protector for the S3, I want to protect but I don't want to take anything away from the screen, I remember putting a zagg on an iPhone 4s, and it took the edge of the clarity of the display, and I don't want that at all for the S3.
I have searched and can't find a similar thread, apologies if there is.
Help greatly appreciated.

Wow, useless thread and that too in wrong section.
Press the "Thanks" button below if I've helped.

I think screen gards don't cost more than a dollar
What's the issue in trying one, but it's not a major thing to start a thread that too so big and huge

Hi, my s3 glass scratched within a week, thankfully around the home button, not the display & I'm pretty obsessively careful. I bought the otterbox commuter case and installed the included screen protector. I can see no effect on the brightness or clarity of the screen, but it was a bugger to get on right & only just covers the display area of the glass, leaving a lip that my finger catches on when I'm swiping from the edges of the screen. It's pretty annoying but I'll live with it for the protection, a bit like using a condom!

Jees, gotta love those folk who feel the need to take the time to post not 1, but 2 totally pointless and non helpful replies, when posting 1 helpful reply or adopting the "I have nothing good to say so I won't say anything" mantra would save him and everyone else the time.
I was hoping for a decent response, so I can order 1 now, so it arrives in time for the phone, which was Monday. So I don't have to go any time without protection, and get a scratch like 1 poster mentions.

IMO the best one is the clear one as i tried many, stay away from the matt or antiglare cause it cause a washed screen and dimmed colours.
They are selling it on ebay a pack of 6 for 3 pounds. hope that will help you

I've had done generic one which came with my case, a momax one and now I'm into a barely there.
The barely there is the best of the ones I've tried. It's matt finish so it does change the look of the screen slightly, it is a tiny but blurred now, but it's quite a small effect and once gotten used to it. The positive effects of using a matt protector are that my screen has no glare or reflection in the light now, making it easier to read when a light source is shining onto it. Also, while the glossy ones quickly become covered in fingerprints, they are quite hard to spot in this one.
It seems to be of decent strength and thickness. Have me a slightly better overlap in the edges than the first two I tried. Worked out cheaper as well ... for a twin pack for the same price as the one momax.

Matte screen protector
I ordered a matte protector for my S3.
Looked and felt really nice, kept finger prints off, but at the end of the day after a week or so i wanted to look at the screen with nothing on it at all. Looks far better.
Maybe a sock or something to keep it in is better than a protector ??

Mine also scratched at the home button, to be more spesific, at the back butto.

I think the best so far is the sgp nano clear.

Privacy Screen Protector...NOW WITH PICTURES>>>>

I ordered one from Daydeal.com Yesterday and waiting on it to arrive.
This would make my Third one Yes i know i said 3 but the first 2 had problems and were ordered from a different seller.
anyone out here found any of these that are good and screen and touch buttons work if so where did you find it at..
i'm still waiting on my one from daydeal
EDIT: Pics of the screen protector taken from my wife HERO
Tried to get a pic of where i had to cut out the opening for the camera (front)
Hey how did that screen protectore from Daydeal.com Work out? does it make it harder to touch the screen? are the capacative buttons functional with the protector on? is there a cut out for the front facing camera?
thanks for the info!!
I'm thinking about getting a 4 way privacy screen for a ipad and cutting it down to size since I can't find one cut for the evo.
I have a 2 way now but it doesn't work well in landscape and I had to cut the bottom of it to get the buttons to work. I also think it is to thick. It makes it difficult to do multi-touch.
I'm hoping since the ipad is nothing but touch that the products available for it might me a little thinner and more capable of multi-touch. Wish 3M would get in gear and realize that more people than just BB users want to protect their privacy. Not that a 4.3" screen is a beacon for prying eyes or anything....
The screen (privacy) protector from daydeal.com works great the buttons work perfectly the only issue is the front camera is not cut out but you can fix that with a hobby knife with no problem I'll post a pic soon of the screen protector on my phone with the camera cut out.

i had the clarivue and it worked great... it did have some spots where the finish came off.. around the edges but it wasnt bad.
i had to change the screen of my phone so i lost it but now that i dont have a screen protector makes me like how good the screen looks. not bad like before.
i ordered a clear protector now... dont think i will go back to the anti-figerprint or privacy.
Well I guess I can post up some pics... I bought a Privacy screen that came out to $7.99 including shipping from EBAY. It came with 3 screens, all privacy.... The first one was kind of peeling from the top but did the job... take a look see....the screen is on regular backlight in all pics exept 1
that cut on the top looks crappy.. but the peeling happend to be too from clarivue. it was also around some edges. i liked the screen but i now have a crystal clear... i have tried all but the mirror type protectors... and i will stay with clear...
when i had my screen changed not to long ago i noticed the huge differance in the way the screen look in a privacy vs clear... you cant beat the clear... at least for me.
i gave it some thought... if someone can see my screen well enough to read the screen then they are too damn close to me anyways lol

Same one I got from eBay. The cut on top doesn't obstruct the camera or sensors and the guard goes from top to bottom with no gaps. Buttons and touch are still very sensitive.
If not for that peeling corner (got it here too) this would be a complete WINNAR!
I wouldn';t be able to stand my screen looking that dim and crappy.

Yes. We are all very important porn addicts trying to hide our shameful screens. If you're not a fan of privacy screens, that's fine - don't troll a thread that others might find helpful.
You don't have to be a porn fan to want a little privacy the protector are useful if you don't want people seeing your password when your typing or drawing it.. Or your text message.. Privacy screens have more uses than just for porn if you want. I have a launch day evo and my screen still looks awesome with the privacy screen on the mirror protector is not useful it doesn't block anything unless you turn down the display brightness and that's no good cause then you can't see your own screen...

TPU diztronic case review

Hello guys,
I ve been in the market for cases for my new galaxy nexus and got my hands on a couple diztronic ones and I posted the reviews on the correct forum however I couldn't leave my lovely s2 without one so I got one as well and reviewed it specially because I've seen people talking about it due its misalignment with some of the necessary hardware part. I made this video so you guys can check it and make your own decision ..
Pd.- I am in no way associated with Diztronic or any of its affiliates .Im just a phone junkie that started reviewing cases so people get a look before spending their money. Mods if I am breaking any rules please let me know
Enjoy and hope this helps

Had mine shipped from Amazon with free Prime, but it somehow managed to take 5 days. The case itself is great, I see the misalignment issue with the mic hole, but I haven't really had any problems with that so far. It definitely fits better than the primitive T989 case on eBay that was extremely popular.
good review dude. Does it not bother you that you have particles stuck under your screen protector? Man that would eat away at me until I fixed it.
thank you for the kind words guys
im going to be honest on the shipping..I got mine in like three days..Im in the US so that might be why it was faster.
it indeed feels sleek as well..not adding volume nor size is a plus for me.
Yes , i had that case from ebay...which is now resting inside my drawer lol
i HATE the particles..it doenst matter if im in a surgeon table or with everything closed ...I always manage to get particles in..and not on the side but in the middle of the screen haha! but gladly i have a lot of them so right after the video I replaced it with another one
glad im able to help you guys...the more cases I get the more reviews I will be doing

have you tried the hot shower method? it really does work wonders, but it sure is uncomfortable in there.
Actually I haven't. Good idea. Will try that!

Ditto. Applying screen protectors must be the most annoying thing in the world...
the larger the screen protector, and the smaller the cutouts that you have to align, that worse it gets. Getting this crappy matte screen protector on my GS2 was a pain, now I don't even want it because it ruins the beauty of the screen.
I tried the hot shower method for the first time on my GS2 and it definitely made life easier as far as keeping dust suppressed goes, but any dust that gets stuck on the sticky side of the screen protector is still going to cause trouble.
Running it for ~10 minutes got the bathroom nice and steamy when I did it, don't humidify it to the point where it gets uncomfortable, but you do have to keep it running during the process =\
that was probably incoherent as hell and more of a rant than anything, but I've never been good at sorting my thoughts

I understand your frustration no worries there. So from what I have gathered from reading a lot of blogs and stuff:
1) Soak the screen protector (if it's a silicone adhesive that is water-resistant) in half water half isopropanol to clean the sticky side of the sp.
2) Apply screen protector in a steamy room.
So much work.. Especially since a lot of people have no trouble at all applying screen protectors regularly. Maybe I'm just fail
If you're careful, you don't have to soak the screen protector in anything, I didn't and it went on perfectly, that is...until my cheap eBay case started pushing the top right corner up. Just run a hot shower, and do EVERYTHING in there, even opening the screen protector. I live in a REALLY dusty apartment (no idea why) and I had very little trouble except for lining up the holes.
i have the same case, same issues at the bottom with the mic but it doesnt effect my calls. even with the minor imperfections, i would still recommend the case to others.
Never heard of the hot shower method before
I've applied many screen protectors ranging from Nintendo DSi to iPad2/Samsung Galaxy Tab and anything in between over the years, and never had any problems with bubbles or particles. The key is to have a brief bursts of canned air right before applying the screen protector and having a piece of Scotch tape in one hand in case any dust particles get in between. If that happens, I lift the screen protector little bit, touch the dust with the Scotch tape briefly, and continue the process. Scotch tape doesn't leave any residues behind (either on the screen or the screen protector depending on where the dust particle is) and it is readily available. Oh, and I always use powder-free latex exam gloves

I finally received the case in the mail. Damn international shipping.
The case looks sleek. It fits perfectly. Haven't noticed any problems with the sound quality. I am satisfied. Will probably last very long until I decide to upgrade to like a seidio/otterbox/incipio ccase.
I font like cases that make the phone bigger ..love the protection they offer but hate the bulkiness

To screen protect or not screen protect...

To all my fellow HTC One X owners - are you using protection? LOL
I'm simply asking because I was wondering if anyone is going commando with the phone, and whether the screen has shown any scratches as a result? I know the phone is supposed to be sporting the all-powerful Gorilla Glass 2, but I don't trust it yet and so have put a screen protector on the front. This dulls the lustre of the screen a bit, so I am thinking of removing it.
How about yourselves? What has been your own personal choice?
you never know.
I got mine protected.
i saw a post about someone having scratches already. Then I viewed the crazy video of the gorilla glass2 scratch test performed by one *FINE* lady here in xda.
I decided to protect it then. the screen protector doesn't protect the whole screen though.
Edit: have to rephrase she's here now.

Heres the crazy lady - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590172
I used to have a screen protector on my sg2, then took it off after a year and it looked like a brand new phone, felt like i was missing out on the beautiful screen. I was going to get one for the one x, but I have extra insurance included in my phone contract against any kind of damage, accidental etc.. and it seems like it'll be hard to completely cover the glass, especially on the sides as I've seen on the forums that some people have had issues getting it to stay stuck.
I treat most things like they are a new born child when I first get them, then after a while, you get comfortable. I don't want to have this sexy looking phone and cover it with screen protectors and back covers - even if it did cost a lot of money.
one crazy lady here!
nah i'm not going to bother with a screen protector after my test i think....only thing i'm really concerned about is that camera lense. Would like to know what it's made of and how i can protect it (without sticking gel cases on the back etc)
It's funny that on these scratch tests the device never has any issues.
But reading on the forum some people do have scratches etc. just because they have keys and phone in same pocket... Makes you wonder, what kinda test did the scratchtester do with there HaitchTC One eX (Hahaha you crazy british people).

My right pocket on any kind of clothing is my dedicated phone pocket. I put nothing in there with it aside from my smooth leather wallet. If you put keys in there and other sharp stuff, then it's your own fault in my opinion! You don't throw your house keys at your television or computer do you? So why throw them on your pride and joy mobile phone! hehee

I'm not balming you. But same **** happend to me with HD2, DHD, SGS2.
Gorilla Glass my ass...
After owning the phone for like 6 months, check the screen again, can garantee you, you will find some small sand scratches.
You'll probably end up with scratches due to sand particles that somehow end up in your pockets. Basically metal won't scratch the glass, but sand will. I won't bother with a screen protector, but I do expect to see at least a couple of microscratches at some point in the near future.
To be honest the first one is the only one that hurts. After that it's bearable.

I have the HTC branded screen protector on my Desire. It's been on since the day I got the phone around 18mths ago along with a case-mate Tough. The protector still looks like new, with one small scratch on it.
Having said that, I'm still on the fence about the One X screen. I'll probably go for another case-mate Tough as it has been worth the money on the Desire for the protection.

I didn't like the official screen protectors, stuck onto the piece of card with some adhesive, by the time i had pulled them off (as carefully as possible) it left a dint in my screen protectors, both ended up with a horrible air bubble where the adhesive had warped the film.
I might just get a nice case and stick with it.
I'm just waiting to see whether i'm keeping it or selling it, i've been appalled by the battery life so far, but the screen seems to be the culprit, at minimum brightness, the screen eats 1% of the battery for ever 5-10 minutes it is on, hopeless when you're playing games, anyone know any solution to this apart from never playing games on the phone?
Wat screen protectors do you guys use?
I have the official HTC ones on mine. but they dont wrap around the edges. Which causes it to sort of "meh". The problem is that the edges of (my) official screen protector dont connect with the screen.
So I am wondering if there are any other brands that do not have this problem and I can order on ebay/amazon or some other website (I live in belgium )

EDITED: Tech Armor

I recently got the Tech Armor Nexus 7 (2nd GENERATION) Tablet Premium High Definition (HD) Clear Screen Protector in the mail and immediately applied the screen protector to my screen only to find myself having severe sensitivity problems. I am forced to press the screen with force and that also sometimes does not work. This makes the screen unresponsive to touch and makes the Nexus 7 a hassle to use. The moment i took off the protector, i recovered normal touch capabilities.
I SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND YOU DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS LIKE ME! :crying:
EDIT: Took a video of my nexus 7 with the tech armor screen protector
/watch?v=Cj17re0gYmE&feature=youtu.be
To save time and to give a quick response, I rooted my nexus 7 and flashed the new update to my tablet. I realized that it was not the screen protector but it was a software issue with the tablet itself. I wish to apologize for making such a rash remark about the screen protector by jumping to conclusions by blaming it.
Screen protectors are a thing of the past anyway. I've gone 8 months with my Nexus 4 without a screen protector and it doesn't have even the slightest scratch. Even my 2012 Nexus 7 lasted a full year and was flawless when I sold it. I don't baby my devices either. A case I can understand for drop protection, but screen protectors are just silly these days.

I never use screen protectors either... Except for this device.
After a few days of just using it at home, I noted some micro scratches forming. Got a screen protector that same day. So yeah, I don't think a screen protector is silly at all.

I don't see the reason for screen protectors unless they actually protect your screen from things like a brick being dropped on the scree. I've owned a rooted & ROM's NookColor, Nexus 7 OG, Nexus 7 '13 and 5 smart phones including my current Samsung S4. I have not used a screen "protector" on any of them and haven't gotten a scratch on a single one of them. Now granted I put my tablets/phones in a case when not in use and I don't when finished using them sling them toward the couch like a Frisbee but I use my devices probably as hard if not harder than most.
Screen "protectors" to me just seem like a way for companies to put your money in their wallet.

For me Speigen ultra crystal are always good. No problems with responsiveness or messing up the look of the screen and then i know when im ready to sell my device there are no scratches anywhere. I'm glad you havent gotten any scratches, but its just too easy to get micro scratches not to spend a few dollars to make sure things stay nice.

Got it in one! Screen sticky-back-plastic is the 21st Century equivalent of snake oil.
And how do these 'companies' advertise? By posting to forums such as this one. So some little shill bleats he has a scratch and all the sheep follow his lead and cover a beautiful piece of kit with tacky-back-plastic.
If you're really a clutz get a full case.
I noticed my screens sensitivity declined when I installed my official Asus SP. I actually went through 2 cause one was dented the first time out of the box.
Both caused the issue BUT after a few hours it was back to normal. Might just have to set.
Wet apply is a big one that needs to set... typically 24 hours. Capacitive screens run off electrical signals from your body to detect touch. Needless-to-say, water and electric don't mix. Once it cures it will be use able.
Make note that the official Asus is a dry apply and it also affected touch sensitivity for a few hours. Applied at night and woke up good.
Also, this thread is not about whether you prefer a SP or not. I personally sell my devices off for Like New. I'm not going to risk a scratch ruining $50 in my pocket next year. Plus Matte screen protectors are fingerprint resistive and anti glare. They also have a great tactile "paper" feel that I prefer. No having to wipe it down every 5 min and I don't feel embarrassed handing it over to a coworker. Different Strokes.

Until screens are scratch PROOF (gorilla glass is scratch resistant) I will use a screen protector. The couple dollars they cost are worth at least the piece of mind knowing you don't have to worry about sand or something else causing a hairline scratch in your screen, especially since I usually sell my devices and screen condition is a major factor in resale value.
Anyways, back on topic, has anyone else got a TA protector and had the same experience? Other than the review on Amazon which is probably this same user, the others don't have this problem, just issue with installation or alignment. I've got one on my GS3 and haven't had any issues.
Installed Tech Armor SP yesterday
I got my tech Armor protectors yesterday. I haven't noticed any sensitivity problems. It is kind of "sticky", but that seems to be getting better with a little more use. Overall I'm happy with the Tech Armor screen protectors. I use a stylus pretty regularly so wanted something on the screen *just in case*. It's very clear, no rainbowing that I've noticed and fit wasn't an issue on mine. I used the "screen door" method and a can of air, it went on clean and clear.
If I notice any problems later, I'll update my post
I got my "snake oil" for a buck at dollar tree. Really happy with it, too. Hasn't affected my screen sensitivity in the least, and I was surprised to find out I prefer the matte finish it gives the screen. And no more micro scratches

In my opinion, the only people who say screen protectors aren't needed are either
1- extremely rich, and just toss out their device if it gets a scratch
2- don't care how their devices look
3- not capable of putting one on properly, and just say they're not needed simply because they aren't capable of the install
Anyone with the intelligence of at least a 4th grade level knows that gorilla glass or "scratch resistant" glass can easily be scratched, even during light use while you're trying to be careful. Screen protectors are just an easy and cheap way to keep your devices looking pristine!

1) The entire device is $230 ($200 with a discount from online retailers). It's not exactly a Porsche. Anyone with a GF/wife knows that a single night out can easily equate to this amount.
2) I am more OCD than you can imagine. A noticeable scratch really would bother the hell out of me.
3) This is somewhat accurate. I'm terrible at installing them perfectly and in my past I've gone through upwards of $50 for screen protectors for a single device. After spending probably $100+ on screen protectors alone over the years, I'd rather just leave that money in the bank and buy a new device if I really feel that it gets scratched to the point that I can't bare to look at it. And you have to keep in mind that even with some screen scratches you could easily sell it for 70%+ of what the device is worth brand new, which would greatly offset the cost of a new one.
I have a tendency to throw my phone in my girlfriend's purse with keys etc. and lay it face down on wood, granite, and metal counters and tables. The silver bezel of the phone is scratched up like crazy and the back glass has a few big scratches too. But the screen is still flawless after 8 months.

Let's keep it friendly!
I must say I wonder about the bona fides of any one so passionate for a cause. A purveyor of snake oil one wonders?
Well I still picked up a TA protector, it will arrive tomorrow and I will report back on how well it works. Assuming it doesn't actually cause sensitivity issuea, its still the best deal compared to what else is out there - $6 for 3 protectors that come with free lifetime replacements (that don't require you to send the old ones back).
And for the guy who said he's wasted $50+ trying to get protectors installed perfectly, go to a Best Buy or a mall and have them install it for you. You'll pay a little bit more but if they put it on wrong it comes out of their pocket. Plus if it ever gets scratched up you can take it back there and get a new one put on for free usually.

How was that unfriendly? You mean to tell to tell me that there are adults with smartphones/tablets who think their screen is unscratchable?!? I don't think so. That makes me a believer of snake oils!!?? I think not. I just have common sense...

I lol'd. Practice what you preach, brother. I believe the first one in this thread calling people names was you
I also have historically not used a screen protector for most of the reasons listed here... Especially that, in my experience, I simply have never needed one. Usually keep my phones for close to a year, and have never ever had a noticeable scratch. But that doesn't mean I never saw the value in them for people that needed them. As soon as I realized that the screen on my shiny new n7fhd had a couple of slightly noticeable scratches(it's my real experience, regardless of if anyone feels the inexplicable need to call me a shill), I snagged one up.
It's kind of sad how something as mundane as whether a device needs a screen protector or not can get people at each other's throats.

What is sad is that Joe Public fails to recognize that opinion formers with their pay-masters agenda post to web sites.

I've Tried this one and seems to work well. Only have had it for about 3 days and clarity and touch sensitivity has been great. I've attached some pictures but if you want more let me know.
I'll try to update in a week and if you need another update let me know.
It is a bit of work to put on but if you do it correctly you should be good without bubbles. But as other full adhesives, it is as most if not installed well you will likely get bubbles and won't disappear.
It has been the only full adhesive at the price range to work well and using it with the Spigen tough armor case.
Also, like others with a black bar on the side, it does disturb the screen a bit as shown in the second picture. Which is similar to the Otao screen protector I used before installing this one. It is not a bother to me but it could be a bother to some.
My favorite thing about the site is that they have a "you've unlocked a mystery discount" spinning wheel for entering your email address. I entered my email address and spun, I won "free shipping" only thing is they already offer free shipping. So, essentially I won exactly what they already give away to everyone.
Useful.

Does it have the annoying blue line going down each side of the edge screen? All of this type of protector that I've tried had that and I hate it.

I haven't seen or don't know what the blue line you are meaning. But as mentioned it does have the Black bar that many hate on the sides as shown in one of the pictures I posted.
That is the main drawback of this one. I could tolerate as many what I see does not cause problems but this is something that everyone hates. See the picture with the reddish orange sides and see the black bar that is in between or I will try to take another picture tonight or tomorrow and post it here.

Yeah, the bar on the sides is annoying. Thanks.
Some more pictures as well showing the black bar
Update it has been good without any problems. It has been a little over a week since installing it and has maintained a good seal without any dust in the edges.
Clarity is better than TGSP with the only adhesive on the edges, as well as the showing of fingerprints as well.
Overall the best I've had so far for a Full Adhesive. The only drawback as mentioned is the bar on the sides as shown in pictures.
The only thing I haven't gone back to the Whitestone has been because of the screen lifting up after removing due to bubbles being distracting.
This could the next best Full Adhesive if you are able to withstand the bar on the sides.
Also ordered the one on Amazon if you are interested in which one I got.
Very good product. Full adhesive. Haven't try it underwater. Hopefully won't come off underwater
