Notification bar like Asus?? - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

I know JB is trying to simplify the pull down notification bar, but I really miss some of the functions I have on my Asus TF300 with ICS. Anyway to get those things on Nexus 7 notification pull down?
Most notably I would like to be able to control brightness directly from the pull down notification bar.
Secondly, turning wifi on and off (as well as bluetooth) and seeing the wifi network connected.

none of those things are standard AOSP features. if you want manufacturer skins and whatnot you REALLY shouldnt go anywhere near a Nexus device

Root the Nexus 7.
Download ES file explorer, enable and mount system in settings.
Locate system\build.prop and change ro.sf.lcd_density=213 to ro.sf.lcd_density=160
And now go to display settings and change font size to large.
Reboot and enjoy the tablet UI.

How does changing the font size gets the brightness and wifi toggle onto the notification bar?

If it is built into Tablet UI that is how. However I am not sure it is with the AOSP roms. Your best bet will be to wait for CM10 or AOKP to be built for the device, which I am sure wont be long at all.

Because the first part of his advice has you reset the LCD density to give you a regular tablet UI (not a phone UI), the font size increase is just to make it readable since it's scaled for a 10" display.
With the regular "Honeycomb-style" tablet UI, the notifications are now accessed from the bottom right of the display, not the top, and it's wider, allowing room for more settings.

You can do what you are looking for with widgetsoid (and much else besides).
Just tick 'notification' on the advanced tab and 'widget invisible' if you don't want it on your homescreen.

+1 on widgetsoid. I haven't yet tried it on JB, but I used it pretty heavily until I switched to AOKP on the G Nexus.

dont mess with tablet ui for what you want...widgetsoid or notification toggle does what you need
widgetsoid can't toggle the gps though (it takes you to location settings) - notification toggle can if you drop the apk into /system/app

Thanks guys, I tried Toggle Widget also, and it's decent but I will try Widgetsoid as well.
I am glad to hear that I don't have to be no where "near a Nexus device" like the first reply suggested just because I want some customization (what a joke)

Switch pro can put toggles in the dropdown. You can even customize colors and backgrounds. Its available on the play store. One of my favorites is the reboot toggle with options for restart, recovery, and bootloader. I cant remember if its a paid app or not but its certainly worth it.
My device should be here when i get home from work and you can bet im going to check functionality of that app soon after

Buddy, just download the app, "notificatin toggle", and that will solve your problems.
Still waiting for my Nexus 7 and that's what I'll be using. It will give easy access to whatever you want right from the notification shade.
Enjoy.

I find power control to look a lot better. Same functionality, just a case of whatever floats your boat.

Wanting to webOS-ify the Galaxy Nexus experience

I've been a Pre user for nearly 2 years now, and saddened by the current state of webOS. When the GN launches on VZW, it will be my next phone.
Thing is, there are a few UI/UX paradigms that I'd like to replicate if possible.
First, will I be able to add these settings into the notification drop-down so that I can enable/disable radios and adjust brightness on the fly? With my NOOK, I use a few widgets on a home screen to do it, but I hate that I have to hit home, change the settings, then pull up the task switcher to go back.

In webOS, you can simply swipe up from the notification area in order to open the app drawer. This can be done with ADW Launcher, but what about the stock ICS launcher?
That's all I have for now, I'll post more when I think of it
widgetsoid does exactly that what you want check the android market for the widgetsoid2.x i use it on my gn and works
Cyanogenmod which is a custom rom has these in the notification bar.
Yea there are options to add toggles to the notification window. Android doesn't have this stock but widgetsoid does this. Technically it is a homescreen widget but it has options to put the toggles in the drop-down pane.
I use it on my Transformer (honeycomb). It should be compatiable but I don't have a SGN yet (waiting on Verizon).
Outside of the above, custom roms will include them in. Also check out something like "Stabusbar 2" or something. It's a replacement statusbar that I think also has this feature. I haven't used this one yet.

This is part of CM and some Samsung skins I believe... Neither of which the Galaxy Nexus has.
so the best is get widgetsoid for example and then configure it so that you get in the notification bar all the settings you want

Is there anyway to remove the widgetsoid icon from the notification bar? Initially I had it set to be invisible, but then when I had other icons in the status bar, the blank space where the invisible icon actually was annoyed the crap out of me. So I disabled the invisibility option so at least all the icons will look uniform...but I'd still rather get rid of it completely. Or find a different widget that works in the notification bar. Anyone know if Extended Control notification widgets have been updated to work with ICS as well as Honeycomb?

Probably a silly question but how do you get the widgetsoid in the notification bar? For me it just shows up as a bunch of widgets that I can choose.
Go into the appdrawer, scroll to widgets, choose widgetoid switcher and drag it onto your home screen. A config window will pop up where you can choose the contols you want. At the bottom of that window you need to open advanced and tick notification and widget invisible.
Wow thanks that worked great. So by default we can only do 4 of them I guess? In one screenshot the guy has 7. On my Thunderbolt with CM7 I have 6 (not widgetsoid).
It will be great once flashlight and 4g toggles work for us!

you can do as many as u want. choose the 4x1 setting but it is not relevant if adding to notify bar. just add more and they will adjust in size to fit the bar.
wow! I haven't used Widgetsoid in awhile but that is a neat feature they implemented in. I was using CM7's Power Widget and never paid attention to it.
i've been using Widgetsoid as a notification bar and wanted to know if it was possible to remove the icon up the upper left corner altogether. i know there's a way to make it invisible, but it shifts my other icons to the right which drives me crazy. is it possible to remove the icon completely?
The difference I see from CM7 is that the toggles would stay at the top. With widgetsoid the toggles will be below the notifications. However, I now can have some applications and shortcuts in there which is awesome.
This works much better on ics then gb.

I couldn't find any stock launcher mods that were simply a single homescreen and/or rotation enabled. After poking around enough I've managed to create them!

Single Screen mods require you to disable "Automatically add widget." in market settings. Not doing so will cause force closes when a new app is downloaded.

You're welcome! I just wish I could fix the reason for the force close on single screen launchers. There is a good work-around but I hate work-arounds.
My only thought was to delete every reference to the screen IDs beyond the one I left in then delete the public.xml and let it rebuild itself, but that caused a force close on boot.

Notification Toggles from the market will do that too. I like the look of Widgetsoid on previous post but I couldn't figure out how to use it right away and I downloaded it and Notification Toggles together so I never gave Widgetsoid a second look. Maybe I will now.
Just sucks that such a big feature was omitted in 4.2. I mean its one of the quickest most relevant features on the 4.1.2 rom. Neat and simple too. Guess I'll have to wait even long for 4.2

Those are for touchjizz roms. The OP is asking for AOSP 4.2.1 ROMs.
OP, in answer to your question, 4.2 is still very new (to us at least) and the devs are working on it. TBH, I actually like the hidden toggles that 4.2 has.

That's a good suggestion, but do you guys not see what I'm saying? I don't mind waiting for it to happen but basically the way the 4.1.2 was setup was that the notification bar/toggles were available on 1 singular easy pull down. 4.2 has it so that notifications is one pull down and settings->toggles are another screen. It's just annoying to do that with something you use so frequently. Unncessary and bad design on google's part. Hopefully independent ROM designers are listening up.

Surely I can't be the only one that finds the larger quick settings tiles in Android 12 cumbersome to use quickly -- seems like I'm always having to swipe down a 2nd time to get access to the 3rd or greater QS tile in the the extended notification shade.
So is there a way someone here has used to get back to the pre-Android 12 quick settings tiles, a Magisk module perhaps?
Heck, I'd settle for a way to turn off (completely eliminate) native A12 quick settings tiles altogether as there's apps (like Notification Toggle) that can reproduce an old-style QS shade.
Any thoughts would be welcome...

One option could be to use Mi Control Center
This way you can make some configurations to the quick settings, which may not be to your likening but in ways can be made to reflect A11....
Give it a try!
I also have previously used and optionally paid for Bottom Quick Settings - Notification Customization and is one way to get WiFi/Mobile data QS of sorts back, but I think ultimately I couldn't get used to swiping up for QS, but it did work very well. Was a one-time fee, though; didn't have a yearly subscription like Mi Control Center. No offense, I just avoid apps I have to subscribe to.

Thanks for the referral -- I installed Mi Control Center and subscribed to allow full access. While it comes darn close to what I want, I ultimately unistalled it because:
- even with root access, swiping up to get rid of the shade fully requires 2 swipes up (remember, one of my main objections was to avoid 2 swipes down)
- I also avoid subscription model software
But I do appreciate your suggestion

That's fair! I haven't ended up using it myself either and will see if perhaps another alternative presents itself at some point
@Tulsadiver has a magisk mod that has 4x4 qs tiles. It's in the mods section of the 6 pro forum, look through the standalone mods post of his. It's on page 2 or 4. He is pretty cool so just ask him if you can't find it. I'll try and link it later but just wanted to post real quick to let you guys know.

My Bottom Quick Settings (tiles and notifications enabled) - very customizable and can still use third-party tools. This way I also disable almost all normal (top) Quick Settings, and when I'm on the home screen (you can see at the top of this screenshot), I use Nova Launcher's option to not display the status bar (I have Bottom Quick Settings enable a bottom status bar - which I admittedly wish I could customize, but still worth it to me).
FYI, I don't use Bottom Quick Settings' brightness slider, and still have to use the normal one because in BQS, manually adjusting turns off the adaptive brightness, whereas the normal brightness slider does not. I could probably just put a shortcut to the system Display/brightness settings, however, and use that instead - and might still be quicker than the normal top brightness slider that isn't available until you swipe twice/all the way down.

Hi. Any ideas what to do to have 6 shortcuts instead of two in the top notification panel / notification bar / quick shortcuts?

You have some choices if you're rooted. You can do 3 shortcuts (and many other things) with [MOD][Xposed+Magisk] AOSP Mods - System modifications for AOSP-based Android 12+, or (and it might conflict with the previous, but it might not) you can do all sorts of things including 6 (unlabeled) quick settings across with Project Themer · Android 12⁺.
Thanks @roirraW "edor" ehT
I would prefer to avoid voiding warranty for now, so I don't have a root. I tried "Material Notification Shade" app and it works, however there is too much ads so that's not an acceptable solution. I was thinking that perhaps there is some other app - like the mentioned before but with no ads.

I'm pretty sure that rooting will not void your warranty. You can ask Google itself like a few people who have screencapped their chat, or the members here who have successfully rma'd their rooted Pixels. Or you can choose to ignore all that, stay on the safe side, and live without THIS:
(Renovate magisk module....) heh heh, tempting?
@reaper000 in fact I have Asus Zenfone 8. But the problem is the same. (Almost) stock Android without nice add on like One UI from Samsung.
