How to get toggles back onto notifications bar in 4.2 - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

How do I get the toggles and brightness slider back in the notifications bar in 4.2 without having to press settings each time. I want all toggles and notifications in one easy drop down. AOKP

What ROM are you running? If it's something CM10.1-ish, try looking under Settings -> System -> Notification drawer.

Notification Toggles from the market will do that too. I like the look of Widgetsoid on previous post but I couldn't figure out how to use it right away and I downloaded it and Notification Toggles together so I never gave Widgetsoid a second look. Maybe I will now.

Just sucks that such a big feature was omitted in 4.2. I mean its one of the quickest most relevant features on the 4.1.2 rom. Neat and simple too. Guess I'll have to wait even long for 4.2

Have you tried any of these toggle mods? They work great for me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895880

Those are for touchjizz roms. The OP is asking for AOSP 4.2.1 ROMs.
OP, in answer to your question, 4.2 is still very new (to us at least) and the devs are working on it. TBH, I actually like the hidden toggles that 4.2 has.

I hate that one extra step you always have to go through that extra step each time i want to toggle airplane mode or wifi

Then you can always download one of the toggle apps from play store like previously suggested or revert to 4.1.2

Use two fingers to drag down the notification tray. That will automatically bring you to your toggles.

That's a good suggestion, but do you guys not see what I'm saying? I don't mind waiting for it to happen but basically the way the 4.1.2 was setup was that the notification bar/toggles were available on 1 singular easy pull down. 4.2 has it so that notifications is one pull down and settings->toggles are another screen. It's just annoying to do that with something you use so frequently. Unncessary and bad design on google's part. Hopefully independent ROM designers are listening up.

Actually, most people like how clean it is. Additionally, the only way they wouldn't show up is if you HAVE a notification. Otherwise, the toggles come straight down.

Wanting to webOS-ify the Galaxy Nexus experience

I've been a Pre user for nearly 2 years now, and saddened by the current state of webOS. When the GN launches on VZW, it will be my next phone.
Thing is, there are a few UI/UX paradigms that I'd like to replicate if possible.
First, will I be able to add these settings into the notification drop-down so that I can enable/disable radios and adjust brightness on the fly? With my NOOK, I use a few widgets on a home screen to do it, but I hate that I have to hit home, change the settings, then pull up the task switcher to go back.

In webOS, you can simply swipe up from the notification area in order to open the app drawer. This can be done with ADW Launcher, but what about the stock ICS launcher?
That's all I have for now, I'll post more when I think of it
widgetsoid does exactly that what you want check the android market for the widgetsoid2.x i use it on my gn and works
Cyanogenmod which is a custom rom has these in the notification bar.
Yea there are options to add toggles to the notification window. Android doesn't have this stock but widgetsoid does this. Technically it is a homescreen widget but it has options to put the toggles in the drop-down pane.
I use it on my Transformer (honeycomb). It should be compatiable but I don't have a SGN yet (waiting on Verizon).
Outside of the above, custom roms will include them in. Also check out something like "Stabusbar 2" or something. It's a replacement statusbar that I think also has this feature. I haven't used this one yet.

This is part of CM and some Samsung skins I believe... Neither of which the Galaxy Nexus has.
so the best is get widgetsoid for example and then configure it so that you get in the notification bar all the settings you want

if you mean the "power widgets" on notifications, you'd need to get the latest CM9 Kangs to offer it. It's still a work in progress.
If you're referring to the one on your home screens, then +1 to joshnichols189. Widgetsoid works well.

yes, widgetsoid works for notifications toggles too, but some of the toggles aren't working for the GN yet, and there is no LTE toggle either

Is there anyway to remove the widgetsoid icon from the notification bar? Initially I had it set to be invisible, but then when I had other icons in the status bar, the blank space where the invisible icon actually was annoyed the crap out of me. So I disabled the invisibility option so at least all the icons will look uniform...but I'd still rather get rid of it completely. Or find a different widget that works in the notification bar. Anyone know if Extended Control notification widgets have been updated to work with ICS as well as Honeycomb?

I read the FAQ part of it. What I don't understand is this. "Make su; chmod755 /data/data/com.jim2/protocol on "Terminal Emulator"".
So I ran the two commands in Terminal and nothing happens nor the reboot working.

Probably a silly question but how do you get the widgetsoid in the notification bar? For me it just shows up as a bunch of widgets that I can choose.
Go into the appdrawer, scroll to widgets, choose widgetoid switcher and drag it onto your home screen. A config window will pop up where you can choose the contols you want. At the bottom of that window you need to open advanced and tick notification and widget invisible.
Wow thanks that worked great. So by default we can only do 4 of them I guess? In one screenshot the guy has 7. On my Thunderbolt with CM7 I have 6 (not widgetsoid).
It will be great once flashlight and 4g toggles work for us!

you can do as many as u want. choose the 4x1 setting but it is not relevant if adding to notify bar. just add more and they will adjust in size to fit the bar.
wow! I haven't used Widgetsoid in awhile but that is a neat feature they implemented in. I was using CM7's Power Widget and never paid attention to it.
i've been using Widgetsoid as a notification bar and wanted to know if it was possible to remove the icon up the upper left corner altogether. i know there's a way to make it invisible, but it shifts my other icons to the right which drives me crazy. is it possible to remove the icon completely?
The difference I see from CM7 is that the toggles would stay at the top. With widgetsoid the toggles will be below the notifications. However, I now can have some applications and shortcuts in there which is awesome.
This works much better on ics then gb.

I'm using Settings Extended. choose which toggles you want, change color preference. it also adds a battery percentage to the status bar (optional).
Power Toggles works great for me, you can also set it to a low priority so that it wont show any notification icons at the top.
I used power toggles before I rooted and started using TrickDroid. It works well.

Widgetsoid is a great and flexible toggle widget tool, but it can also be used to add a notifications toggle bar as shown in my screenshot. If you add 5 toggles, the first one lines up like it's the icon for the notification, and it blends in great with other notifications when you use the following custom background I created:

Glad to help. It doesn't match other notifications in landscape, but at least for what I do, I rarely see notifications in landscape. And I've also found that 6 toggles looks good too (which is what I'm currently using).
I've themed Power Toggles like this:
Most icons I extracted from the ROM. Background I photoshopped the statusbar background to make it taller so it didn't look so stretched.
EDIT: Icons attached here for anyone that wants. Just extract and place it on the phone, then set up custom icons through the Power Toggle settings.
Colours used are:
Indicators:
Off: FF404040
Busy: FFFF9900
Active: FF3AB0DC
Buttons:
Off: FFFFFFFF
Busy: FFFF9900
Active: FF3AB0DC
Does the shutdown menu work for you guys?
I moved it to system and gave it root. but it never shutsdown, reboots or anything.

Post your (T-Mo GS4) software pet peeves

We all have them - and it will help ROM devs to know what "the people" want to be changed.
Mine include the clutter in the notification bar, particularly the WiFi Calling item, and the "suggested activities" on plugging in headphones. I'll let you guess which I've already removed.
e: If it's a major missing feature like real lock screen widgets or photo sphere, it probably doesn't belong in this thread, nor does hardware items.
You know you can now hide the wifi calling by long pressing on it in the notification bar, going to app info, and clicking to turn off notifications? It removes the icon and keeps your wifi calling intact.

Manage your LED notification light fast and easily. No more trying to guess which app or which person demands your attention with random colors.
Features:
Select color by app or by text. Your favorite contacts can have their own color no matter which app they use to contact you.
Handle missed called.
Fine tune blinking speed for each notification.
Lightweight, almost no memory and battery footprint.
This app makes use of Android's 4.3 Notification Listener and thus it must be enabled under Device Settings > Security > Notification Access. It cannot access the internet so your personal data is absolutely safe.
Thanks for giving it a look!

Nope... Stock 4.3 ROM, Franco Kernel r183, had Light Manager installed before your app, but I uninstalled it and rebooted just to make sure nothing interfered. Any more ideas? Pulse notification light under Settings is ticked, of course. And yes, I'm turning off the screen hehehe

Someone else reported this too, I think I know what's causing it. I will release an update tomorrow to fix it.
Works on my Nexus 4
It's possible to make an function to switch between differents colors for the same notification?

That is kinda tricky. I am working on some bugs right now, after that I will see if I can implement it.
Okay, good luck

It requires Android 4.3! It should be compatible after samsung releases an update or you install something yourself.

On another note, the app is still unreliable on stock ROMs, I made some progress towards fixing this but I have some exams at the moment and I don't have much time to work on this. I hope it works fine for the rest of you in the meanwhile.
Doesn't work on 4.3 - all stock, without root etc.
I can set it up, but when notification appears nothing happens

Wait update of application
It's a very good application ! I prefer this app to LightFlow (much complicated)
im a heavy user of lightflow... but it uses toomuch battery and ram in my opinion.
im gonna give a shot to ur app. thanks for making it free
EDIT:
the only notification i get working is missed call... messaging for example = no led on at all all and yes i turned on notification access
Running stock unrooted.
I will wait for future update.
Hope everything goes well with ur exams
Test working on 4.3 Stock, rooted, Franco Kernel 184.
BUT, notifications are not working as should - I get original notification for all events.

Yeah I'm having the same issues. Test function works and shows the notification light working but when I get a notification, nothing appears.
Running Cataclysm 4.3 ROM with Franco.Kernel R184
Other than that, app looks gorgeous. Good work.
