Hey guys. The best app that I've used over the past year for school has been Evernote. Bluetooth keyboard and you're all set.

I've always used Pen and Paper to take notes
but since now I get ideas and such and don't carry those things anymore
I'm glad to see some apps here.

I use freenote its got a free version which only nags you every10 days if you don't want to buy the pro version. it rocks!

Im also looking for the same I really wish we could get a really nice application like Notability for iOS. That is a great application!

I'm using FreeNote as it lets you scribble as well as type.
By the looks of things, it's got more options than I probably need.
Might be better ones out there I'm not aware of though...?

Microsoft OneNote Mobile

Google Drive or Evernote.

I lecture at a UK University and I recommend Evernote to all that will listen to me, all my lectures and notes are on Evernote so its easy for me to disseminate information. I couldn't be without it now running it N7, HOX and various PC.s. Great blogs over at the Evernote site

i would like an app for this as well, i remember there was a decent one pre-installed on my transformer pad tf300.. forgot what it was called..

it's called super note. I pulled the apk off my tf101.
Am I allowed to post APK links? It's not in the market so I'm not sure if that's considered piracy or not....
it runs great on the n7 though!

I would implore you guys to check out BeNote.
It's a little on the basic side, but it's in serious need of downloads. Motivate the dev to add valuable features!

Add me as another vote for freenote.
Being able to both type and sketch by hand is a must for me. I need to be able to draw diagrams sometimes, and I'm pretty sure I can swype faster than hand write, so keyboard input is important too.

Wow.. thanks for all the replies guys. Ill take a look at those.
This coming semester Im taking a trigonometry class. Which do you all think might be best? I need to be able to hand write everything...
Thanks.

For handwritten notes I use Skitch+Evernote.

I would say for that it's honestly easier to just use actual paper in a spiral or something...at least for me anyway.

Looking for Mentor...

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this post, seemed like the most sensible spot. I used to be involved in OS development back when 2.2 was brand new and shiny. I forget most of what I did, then.
I am looking for someone who would be making a Galaxy Nexus ROM (_obviously_). I know I have to be running a Linux distro (Will be using Ubuntu) and know how to install/configure/use Ubuntu/terminal. I'm also very technologically inclined, and learn very quickly. I am also willing to simply study before and after files, note the effects, and learn that way.
There's not a whole lot I won't do, and there's a whole lot I can be/am good for. I also have many contacts from the old Liquid E days that would be able to help with any potential issues that arise as well.
Thank you in advance,
Matthew/Harness.

[REQ] Screen Recorder

Hello my xda brothers. I just recently watched a hands on preview for the galaxy note 2 and saw a pretty cool feature; Screen recorder! The feature lets you record audio and video of whatever screen your on and then send it as a MMS! The S3 doesnt have that feature to my knowledge and I know it MAY be apps that allow it to be possible, but I was wondering if there may be someway to create it and mod it to be a feature within a rom? I'm no developer by any means, so excuse my "Noob-nish"
Video link for better idea of what im talking about. Jump to 06:27 in video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DcgZum8M1o
It certainly should be possible! Ill have to look at that when I get home! Thanks for the heads up. I saw something similar but it only took many stills and tried to make it easy to put them together for a video screenshot of sorts. Not worth the effort to me.
Though I doubt I'd be sble yo make it work, Id love to try. And there are some absolute geniuses here so im sure itll happen at some point anyway.

I dont believe there is a forum yet for the note 2, the device wasn't officially released yet. But that is a great idea, I wonder if the note 1 has this feature and it can be "ported over" (dont know if thats the right term tho. LOL)

Thank you!! I thought that feature was so cool. The note 2 and S3 will be pretty much distant cousins, so even if It's not possible yet, Im pretty sure some one will cook something up once the device is released in October. If you come up with something, PM me. I will test if needed!!
I've been using this app for a long time.. works on many phones. Need to be rooted of course

Not surprising, as there are already apps out that work in a windowed fashion, the OverSkreen browser app is a good example.
I saw YouTube videos of it working on the gnote 2 and it looked sweet. It would be nice to have. There's a gnote 2 rom available in the dev section but apparently it still needs some work.

Yeah I saw that one too. Serenity I think it's called. I was on my way to downloading it, but he links you to his website where it was impossible to find the Lite version (stripped of all bloat) through the crappy background and text... Would love to have this feature though!
As far as I can tell, it is not in the JB update (FreeGS3).
Useless post #4 iirc
Just so you know, in market there's an app called floating browser that pops up a Window with a decent browser. Made by same dev that created super video, which gives u pop up floating video player (which works with YouTube, btw). They're both really sweet and free.

Hmm, I think the world might just end in December. Microsoft windows is going away from windows with their "Metro" GUI, and Android is going towards windows with this.
I hear the headphone jack will be on the bottom.

Lol, that's funny. Although the feature is more eye candy than useful, I thought I'd point out how I greatly increased the utility of the pop up browser. If you're using aokp u can create a nav button that'll launch the browser. Now, regardless of what app I'm in, I can launch my browser to look something up without exiting my app. Some launchers also allow you to assign certain functions to the hardware keys so you can have the same function on another rom. But aokp rocks anyway. Just my 2 cents.

No the world won't necessarily end then. But we will have encounter with the Lords of the stars. 6 more years will pass before the start of the 13 heavens, as December 21, 2012 markets the end of the 9 Hells. Water of truth poured from snake, moon and Sun will give rise to a new Earth after it rises from the ashes of the previous one. There will be survivors. Beware bearers of false gifts, and broken promises. There is much pain but still time left. Believe there is good out there. The conduit is closing. Quote me for truth.

Should I get the Note II?

Hello everyone
I am here mostly for opinions and some advice. I have used the iPhone for a long time. A few months ago I thought I should give Samsung and android a shot. I really loved my device [The note 10.1] and I'm thinking I should get the Note II. So what do you guys think about the device and does it come in handy? Appreciate any advice! Thanks

Just go ahead mate...you will found that you should jump to note2 more early after you try it.
-same performance with iphone 5. ( i mean the ui smoothness and phone responsive)
-spen ( im sure you enjoy this exclusive features with your note 10.1)
-Battery life. At the moment in the whole mobile insdustry only motorola razr maxx able to compete with note2 in terms of battery performance. With 3100mah + low batery consumption quadcore proccesor you will found that iphone 5/4s totally not at the same level.
Other than mentioned abouve i dont think i need to explain more, since you was owner of note 10.1, im sure you knew clear how friendly user android os could be. No limitation of your os, could share any file with other friend with wifi direct/tap pouch. You 100% own what you bought. Not like i product just keep limitation to the user and their os is close sources as well.

I think you should buy this phone. Let me explain why:
• You'll get an amazing, big screen
• The battery life is amazing
• The S pen is an awesome piece of hardware and really functional as well
• The phone is butter smooth thanks to Project Butter
• All google play store apps that works on a regular screen size, also works seamlessly on this one
• A lot of possibilities thanks to Android
....and much more.

I have the iPhone 4 as well .. I can't seem to work with it anymore .. and that's just after 2 days of using the note II
God, I love this device! and the devs are awesome in here !
Don't even think twice. If you like smaller screen, then try find out i9305 (not i9300) but there isn't big difference.
This was my best ever decision to have it. (After iphone 3g, 3gs, 4g, then Note. Finally landed at Note 2) With this perfect sized screen and stuff it is unbeatable.
Btw guys today I've played NFS Most Wanted on my friends PS Vita. Then compared game play, graphs, etc. by playing the same game in Note 2. Note 2 seems would be a better mobile console than Vita in my opinion .

Anyone want to help me get more in to this ROM hobby thing?

I have learned all I can by reading. I need to play on a computer. DL some programs and dive in. Building my own ROM is a long way off, or assisting build one, is the direction im heading.
#1 don't assume I know anything
#2 im getting a laptop. I have kids and the computer is downstairs. Every time I try and get down there, im called back up.
#3 there are so many programs I don't know where to start. I have started on my main computer. And now I have so many things i don't know where to start. Eclipse, ADB, 7 zip, kitchen, cygwin, Java .. And i don't even remember what else.
So i think I'd like to mess with one program at a time and learn one aspect at a time. Don't advise, "download this or that" . Pick the program you recommend.
So I would like to download a stock ROM and start deleting crap. Start there. Im more in the mindset of smoothest and fast and better battery. As opposed to. Bells and whistles that seem cool, but i never end up using.
Please advise THANK YOU
Start with laptop. Id like to get a laptop that is mostly for this. I'm sure I'll check email and web, but that is it. Id like to stay as cheap as possible. I've got a pretty good Windows 7 64 bit already for my pictures and all heavy duty tasks.
So staying with 7. Will the "core 2 Duo" cut the mustard? Or do i need to get a i3 or i5.
6 g RAM ok?
Seems like i can go Duo for $200 and the i3 will be $325. Im cheap, but i hate slow too! Lol
Bells and whistles not necessary! Lol

small man..... once you get the hang its easy..... I like to get the big apks done first like framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk.... then go from there..... secPhone.apk and secContacts.apk are the most time consuming. ... the hex colors of my rom are 00ff00 and a100ff.... start there and build off them...
I like to test before I release stuff that is why it takes me a while to get stuff out... but as you see it works most of the time. . Lol.....
