[Q] A bunch of questions in one??? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

All right I have a few question I figured I'd ask in one thread they pertain to one another I guess.
1. (blazer rom 4.0) So last night I flashed this rom because i have not given GB a chance everything went well flashed fine......but when I booted the phone everything came up but I had no service. not a empty signal display it had the circle with the slash through it no service. under about phone it said I had no number, no prl, no nothing. after doing a shutdown and restart service would come on periodically and the it would go back to what I had just mentioned.
2. (prl and profile update) so the whole reason I flashed I flashed back was to update my prl and profile. but for some reason I can not do either. for this one i just flashed back stock el29. It would say and show that I had a 3g signal but everytime I the instant I would hit update the signal would vanish and 5 seconds later i would get (error: no connection) thried this with 3g,4g,wifi no luck.
this also happen when I was talking to a sprint rep setting my epic up, it took an hour and half to get my phone updated, no bueno.
do we have prl zips for are phone? and where, if so?
and any help with the blazer rom would be great. From the little bit I messed with it, it was a very smooth and snappy rom.

There are no prl zips that IM AWARE of. I'm pretty sure there are none! Idk try to see if sprint repair can find something wrong with it! Or you can try to flash a different modem. Sorry about your issues

also if I helped you in anyway, Lets have some manners and hit the thanks!

The blazer service issues are logged in the op forum.

[Q] No Service, No Data, WiFi Slow...

So, i rooted my phone today, bricked it a couple times, then fixed it(this doesnt matter)
Ok, so i was really excited to get this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864445
(I got the trinity, NOTthe Frozen one)
Long story:
So, I install the rom on my phone, no problems...but it seems I'm missing something and I've looked everywhere because i can't sign into Gmail, even with WiFi...Then again, I have no service...3g, or 4g, or for calling. Absolutely no bars in one of the strongest areas of my house. I'm thinking I'm missing some type of modem... I cant find it, I think i found it previously but from a different website, and they didn't even give instructions. Please help me because this is an awesome rom and I don't want to go back to stock rom.
Short story:
-no service, or data service, either.
-Missing some type of "modem" to enable data
-Airplane mode wont turn off. When clicked, it keeps going on and off. Please help!
Thanks in advance.
Not sure if this helps but I was getting major signal drop on 4g. Come to think of it 3g too. I don't think you are missing anything if it boots up and opens. Sometimes devs make tweaks internally that may not be known to us. I know when signal is constantly searching you get major battery drain
UFE (Unidentified Flying Epic)
Well, at least it's not just me.
For me the only way I've found that reliable works is to Odin back to DI18 and start from scratch.
Unfortunately, I basically can't touch CWM afterwards, because doing anything in it seems to bring the bug back.
Hopefully there's a fix out there for those of us that are continually plagued by this rather bizarre issue.
Seems rather strange that reflashing the modem with Odin doesn't even do the trick.
Just to.let u know you said you bricked your phone a few times. If you brick a phone it doesn't come back. You can't brick a phone a couple times. To answer your question sounds lime you need to reflash the.modem. go into.settings and about phone and see what your baseband version is. It should the same as the software you are on. If you are on dk28 then it should be dk28. Also I would upgrade to eb13 since dk28 is ikd school now and to many bugs that were not fixed. Just my 2 cents. Good luck

[Q] Evo CM7 won't call, won't do data (after several days of working)

I recently rooted my Evo and put CM7 nightly 12 on it. All was well, I even installed the Savaged Zen kernel. Even better. Just yesterday I updated to CM7 RC2 to give it a shot. Today I went to work and had to drive to a remote area where I don't get service, so I put my Evo in airplane mode to save battery life. (this was after having it overheat while charging, could be a hardware issue) At the end of the day I turned the 3G radio back on and nothing... It connects and disconnects to the tower. It will not send data and it will not place phone calls on the 3G connection (WiFi works). I did a restore back to nightly 12 to see if maybe it was a problem with the OS. Nothing. A few hours ago it began functioning again, but after checking it a few minutes ago I have discovered it is back to no connection. (the signal bars bounce between nothing and full, but never shows the X for no signal) Has anyone else had an issue like this? Should I restore back to sense and unroot to take advantage of my warranty? If this has already been posted before please direct me to the right thread.
I'm having the same problem. I installed Cyanogen RC 2 and had no problem since it came out. I went on vacation to a beach, and during my trip I switched it on to airplane mode since I was in a remote location. After turning it back on, I noticed I can't get the Data Connection to work. The 3g bar doesn't even show up, and after messing with the settings trying to fix the problem I managed to do nothing. I tried using a backup I made from a week past, and encountered the same problem. Then I flashed the newest nightly and still no Data whatsoever. Wifi works fine, and 4g is acting weird but I got it to work a few times. Does this have something to do with sprint?
I think it is the same as the 4G 3G hang. I typically get it while tethering and the phone is normaly quite warm.
So I managed to fix the problem. I ended up flashing Koni's Elite Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941055
I got an error that said "Error 67 registration failure"
I updated my profile and it was automatically fixed. I'm not aware you can do this on cyanogen stock rom, but I think you can dial a number that will do this for you.
After getting the 3g to work again, I flashed back to the stock cyanogen, and it is still working. So for now im good to go.
I do think is sprint and not the rom because I did a restore to warm z and was still having the same problems. Also my brother's evo was doing the same thing and he doesnt have cm7 on it.
I figured it was something to do with the profile... I restored all the way back to sense and attempted to update profile, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I will try that ROM and see if it does anything. Why can't they just make this easy and allow updating of vital software that allows the radios to work on WiFi or from SDcard? This is dumb.
I tried that ROM and nothing works. Not really sure what to do. I might have to restore to Sense and unroot to take it back... I really want to avoid that if at all possible.
Unrooted my phone and getting a free replacement from Sprint. Still unsure of the problem, seems to work randomly.

I also have the same problem. No 3g data, gps, and 4g is acting weird.
I also had the same registration error number 67. My question is, how do you update your profile?

[Q] Missing Texts and/or Incorrect datestamps

Alright so I have a Samsung Epic running the ACS 1.1.0 rom with ext4 w/ journaling enabled, EC05 Modem with PRL version at 60676.
Problem is that for a while now I've noticed that texts would randomly show the wrong date stamp ie usually ahead a few hours OR I might not just get them at all. I've looked around seen that you should update your PRL and profile to fix that problem, but I've done so and it hasn't seemed to resolve itself. I was running the phone on a PRL 60675 before and didn't see a change. I did run the update of the profile but it doesn't give any sort of success message or indicate anything. Sometimes it'll give a network connection failed or similar type message.
Any ideas at to what this could be. I'm tempted to flash the phone back to stock and run with that, but I really like the ACS rom and have no other ideas what I can do.
When im roaming, and i get a text message, the timestamp is always 6 hours ahead. Its a roaming problem, and im stock unrooted.
[sig]Typed by restless thumbs, that are too tired to help hold my bacon sammiches[sig]
pretty sure this is a tower issue and not a phone issue. that used to happen to me on AT&T, and it was always roaming.
Yeah at this point it seems to be an issue with not the rom. I just flashed to the newest stock gingerbread release from ACS and I just got a text message timestamped 4 hours in the future ;|
Best option is to what? Call sprint? Is it more of an issue with reception in my area or something like that? I'm in the middle of the DFW and I fail to see how I can be roaming unless I'm 4 floors under a parking garage.
I would definitely let sprint know. Sounds like there may be a cell site with a bad timezone setting.

[Q] 1x at home 3G at work; wiped, reflashed radios, roms, reset EPST, any ideas?

Ok guys so in a nutshell here's the problem. I have a rooted EVO that's I've been playing with for over two months. I used to have amazing 3G at home especially, like over 1.5 mbps minimum 800 kpbs at peak. Since about 2 nights ago after updating MikG 2.15 to 2.2 I've been stuck at 1x and can't get 3G to hold. It's not an AOSP vs Sense interpretation issue since there is an actual performance issue. Speed tests won't even load and if they do it's like 15kpbs and web sites do not load or take minutes to load google.com
4G is intact and when I went to work today I noticed in the car I got a 3G lock however speeds were around 500k so it has something to do with location but sprint as well as my 3 other phones in the house confirm it's not an area disruption. I've wiped all, calkulin wipe, reflashed, nandroid restored, EPST restored, tried different sense and AOSP, reflashed latest radio combo, prl and profile updated... Pretty much everything. If it matters I did have this problem when I first got the evo prior to rooting and sprint tech told me to so the EPST restore and that worked like magic but the problem then was my 3G didn't work anywhere, home or work.
Is there anything I'm missing or do I need to figure out how to remove all traces of root and head to sprint? (if so an tips on standard procedure would be appreciated like about sd card censoring etc)
Currently latest OTA rom rooted 4.24
Latest radio combo
Prl 60680 (which I'd like to blame actually considering 3g lock at work I think I was good with 0115 or whatever prior was but can't find file or get epst to load ##776# )
not sure to confirm hardware version if that matters cuz I've had it read out both as 003 and 002. I got the phone at the end of April rooted it may 24 via unrevoked.
Really bummed out and any advice appreciated. Once again I've spent two days googling and looking through forums and tried all options but mine seems to be resistant so please avoid the "google" it advice. One forum post on Androidforums seemed like my issue but it was also unreplied to unfortunately.
Your user profile password could have changed. It can change for a number of reasons, but one example is you to switch to a different phone on your Sprint phone line while you had somebody else root your phone for you and then switching back when he returns it. Flash to a ROM that has "Update Profile" and update you profile username.
Also sometimes you can get slower 3G speeds if you let your phone "Update PRL". So cancel the PRL update if your phone tries to update after you "Update Profile".

Thanks for the reply. I always had the phone on me and thats why I went back to a sense rom. I've updated profile and reset it too canceling prl update. Even tried all the tweaks out there. Finally gave in and called sprint, they pushed something OTA during a battery pull probably profile cuz it did same thing on reboot. It brought me up to like 100-200 kbps since that didn't work their grand solution was offering me a free airman access point which is awesome since I didn't even know about it or ask for it but that still leaves me helpless outside my home which is where a cell phone is meant to be lol
Something to note is I just updated to the 11114 PRL posted 7/17 and I'm moving around 400-500 Kbps which is technically 3G but crap still especially when I did have fast speeds. I'm about to give up, gonna chalk it up to sprint service issues they won't admit to and it can't be throttling because my 5 lines use less than the average heavy user uses on one line. Another week of this and I'll probably have to unroot and head to store, especially if airvana doesn't help.

Won't Connect to 4G

So everything was fine on my Evo (running one of decks roms with a ICS theme) until the screen went out friday night. Saturday I took it in and it was repaired in about 2 hours (very impressed). In between I activated an old back up phone to get me by. When I picked up my Evo the tech had reactivated it and it was ready to go. But when I got to work I had no data. No internet service at all. Calls and Texts were fine, but nothing else. I made sure mobile data was checked, (couldn't update PRL cause of the AOSP rom), but I did a battery pull, rebooted, then I decided to nandroid back to a previous sense rom. Once I booted up still nothing. after about 2 hours all of a sudden I was getting emails, and voxer messages....I had data back!!! But when I tried 4G nothing happened (stays on obtaining IP). Hoping a newer stock based rom would help I flashed the new swag ON rom. Loving the rom...everything is great, but still no 4g. My last resort is to unroot and go back to sprint. I downloaded the wimaxx checker and it says I have my RSA keys so I know those are there. I'm sorry if this is a bit long winded, but I thought being as detailed as possible would help. Any suggestions would be great. The members here have helped me through lots of trouble shooting in the past.
Should also be noted that I attempted PRL update again with no luck, and I live in San Antonio which is a solid 4g area for me.
Good thinking with Wimax Checker - That's usually the first line of defense.
It sounds like because you cannot update PRL or Data Profile that there may have been an issue in the reactivation by the tech at the Sprint store. With that said, I know I'm in the Philadelphia region with good 4G but occasionally there will be a day or so of PRL/Profile update "outages" where I cannot update. I usually will verify with a family member's phone (also on Sprint). Perhaps try having someone you know in the area with Sprint and an android phone try a profile and/or PRL update to make sure it's not just the system being unresponsive.
Ok I will try that tonight and reply back. I had my g/f's evo running decks rom try her 4g and it worked perfectly so I know its my phone. I'll see if she can update. Either way is there some sort of combo pack I can flash for profile and prl??? I'm not too sure how that would work.
Here is the latest Radios-Wimax-PRI-NV Combo pack Click HERE
Ok I flashed an older Wimaxx since the one I had was up to date(did a check in TE). Once flashed and booted up still no 4g. Is it possible that this could be a hardware issue since everything else works? Like the actual antenna is busted? Just hard for me to think that since it was working fine before my screen went out. I always have 4g service at home and work. And my g/f's is working fine she has the evo and she has sprint.
