[Q] GameLoft..... a look at how bad they may be - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not saying this is true, just an interesting read... its a bit old but somehow I either forgot about this or just missed it. Just sharing for those interested. And yes i posted this in the Q&A section for people to discuss if they think this is legit or not... I think there may be some basis by look at how buggy a lot of the Xperia PLAY games are...cough...... shadow gaurdian........couch.......splinter cell....cough cough.

the truth about gameloft
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I copied and pasted this story, on these free and open forums, and gameloft deleted the post and my account!
Why Gameloft can't fix your issues, or the bugs in the game...
It just dawned on me:What if Gameloft, as a
company, treatstheir programmers the
way they treattheir users Would the programmers want to work for them? The answer is simple: "NO, they wouldn't."
Then I went to GOOGLE and did a simple search: "Programmers leave Gameloft" ... and tada!! Sure enough, Gameloft does not seem to have the programming power from the ultra-talented programmers who actually built the games, to actually fix the glitches and issues and bugs, much less to look after users' issues.
Read this article: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Multiformat/Gameloft+news/news.asp?c=36859
Apparently, Gameloft must be working with sub-par programmers who must be having to: First: learn the coding of the old programmers. Second: actually try to edit the coding to fix glitches.
This would explain their utter and complete inability to actually fix anything at all on their most popular games. The newbie programmers must be causing glitches as they work, their updates must be throwing certain parts of the game off, affecting users, affecting other fixed glitches, creating more bugs, etc.
If you know anything about coding, you would understand this. So, I've come to the conclusion that: GAMELOFT'S ENTIRE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MUST BE FIRED.
This company needs new leadership. I have a web development firm and know how bad leadership can affect products."

Enjoy the reading... and if this really doesnt fly here can a mod move it to the general.......thanks

Why people think that Gameloft games are good, maybe they look good, gameloft team can create good graphics games, but only for few smartphones. Gameloft never created good quality games and I think never will. Games are only copy consoles hits with poor gameplay. That's why I deleted all gameloft games and play PSX great games created by skifull teams

Same type of iPhone games for Pocket PC

I was wondering if there where the same game or type of game for the pocket pc as there is for iphone.
the games that i am looking for is.

P.S. I HATE APPLE. i am trying to show some apple fanboys that u can get the same type of games and as good games as you can get on the iPhone/iPod on the PPC
actually the only thing i'm envious of is the quality of games on the iphone. Sure for windows mobile you also got a lot of games, but if the manufacturer (HTC!!!!) doesn't even provide hardware acceleration drivers, then no matter how many games you got.... it still sucks......
Luckly i havent really bought Touch HD yet but i want it very much.
and the again i cant wait for the new nVIDIA Tegra that comes out soon and it can play quake 3 with a fps of 30 and play 1080p movies.
so its just a matter of time to see if i can wait for Tegra because my current phone is totally broken.
and yeah i am envious on iPhone/iPod to just bought Ipod Touch so there three in my class that have iPod Touches and there is so meny great games espically the TD's

Can I get some feedback on the games?
the games all look fine, but i personally would prefer NOT to pretend they are mario, god of war, call of duty etc etc.
using an icon of mario does NOT make it a mario game....likewise for the others
those are licenced/trademarked names from the original developers and using their names makes it sound like YOU think the game isn't good enough to sell without pretending it's part of a franchise.
i never install games like that
if it's a good game, rename it and rebrand it yourself....you should be proud of doing the work so don't cheapen it by trying to jump onto someone else's marketing bandwagon.
just my humble opinion of course....and i'm sure it's the opinion of Nintendo etc who own the copyright to those brands officially
are you serious????

Ok i read your post and you dont make any sense at all. If I was trying to sell the games I could see your point , but Iam not. The reason I made those games originally was for myself. I made them because those are the types of games I like to play. I figure I share them with others as well. Where do you see me trying to sell copywritten games??? Did you even think before you posted???
that was not his point at all.
i think, what d-signet is trying to say is that usually games, that do not originate in a big franchise, but still use their names, are too poorly made to be branded under an own name. so, if you have a proper 1:1 clone of a mario game, name it as a proper clone. if it is an original platform game, which is good enough to stand for itself, don't minimize your own artwork by using mario's name and keep it original.
i have to agree with d-signet. i have come along so many knock-offs and clones that names like "SuperMarioGunWVGA" actually keep me from installing the game and even give it a chance, because i would expect another cheap clone. if you put an original name like jump 'n' gun or whatever, i would certainly have a look.
so, nobody is accusing you of copyright infringement, but only of a poor choice of names, while the work behind it and sharing it with the community is highly appreciated.
i agree with the above. you do not help your case when you state that you are "working hard to supply you with the latest games for free!!!"
Well I guess no one wrote what I said. I will repeat , this are games that I wanted to play but didnt see avalible on windows mobile. I made them so I could play them on the go. I made original games also , like phaserx, rexum, colorbox, etc. Nintendo ,Sega,or Sony would not have a problem unless I sell thier games. There are hundreds of supermario, sonic, and many more clones avalible for the PC,MAC, or Linux. What I am doing here is nothing new , just having fun!!!
Are your original games free too? hehe. where is the link?
Whatever the names, your games are plain bad(goddamn the controls)
If you are looking for some nice games to play on HD i recommend PocketUFO, TTDeluxe, NetHack. They all look nice and are free.

New demo of Windows Phone game

Hello, I write you from CK7 Studios, a new indie game development company.
We are releasing My Little Tower Defense, a game for Windows Phone, on october, as the device is released.
We would like people to try our game before it's launched, and we have uploaded a demo to ck7studios dot com (works on Silverlight). Please check it, we are sure it will be really fun for you.
Just share any of your thought about the game in the thread, we will really appreciate them to improve our game before launching.
Thanks for your time!
Interesting game but very hard to play with a mouse
Is it hard? We have been working to make it easier from previous versions, but maybe it's not completely polished. Could you tell us more about the problem please... is the game too fast? it does not recognize your clicks? it is stresful with lots of enemies on screen?
Anyway, thanks for your tips!

Definitely a little hard to play with a mouse since you can only interact with one object at a time. Fun concept though!
Nice game.... It's OK for me to play with the mouse, but don't know how will be playing it with fingers, especially when you put 2 thumbs over the display and can't see anything
1. Seems like an interesting game with a fun concept.
2. The step up between the 2nd and 3rd round on level 1 seemed a little abrupt. You go from having a couple of towers and a few bad guys to having an onslaught of bad guys with sheep flying everywhere. Maybe introduce the black sheep a round or level after the white sheep and not simultaneously?
3. The game would definitely benefit from multi-touch, which is impossible to assess using a mouse. Hopefully you have implemented this in the phone version.
4. This is just a style thing, but the English on the instructions has some grammatical errors. Not sure where you are from, but if the game will be released in English, it might be worth it to iron that out.
Great effort, look forward to trying the release!

Super nintendo emulator wm6.5

I did not create this app I just cabbed it and did work on the reg. Games can be played in landscape mode to the right or left. Transperency works. Very fast!
Install both cab files. Will not work on some keyboards unless you turn off T9.

Works great with this app that lets you use a Wiimote or PS3 controller as a bluetooth gamepad.

I made this for the TP2 to be used with the TVOUT function but it will work on all resolutions.
if it works where can i download the roms for it??
or do i dont need it???
And for the ones interested here's the homepage (source for this build is included).
I haven't played much with emulators on my PDA (frankly the state of emulation on the platform is depressing... but then again so is the state of everything else). Not even sure which version is the best...
For anyone interested here are more builds:
PocketSNES by emu193 (?)
PocketSNES by n0p
SnesGo/PocketSNES by rlei (no sources available)
PocketSNES (the father of all these mods)

The roms are 100% legal to download and play if he already owns the game cartridge or the rom is a game someone created like many of the super mario hacks. You have no clue if he owns super nintendo cartridges so it is wrong to assume he is gonna partake in illegal activity. So I will go ahead and recomend ********.

You gotta be joking, right? It bothers me beyond belief when people try to get smart about things that are as clear as day. With that same reasoning, you should be able to post links for every piece of music, film, and software ever created because you can assume that people are indeed in possession of said materials.
Congratulations. You just earned yourself a vacation from this site for breaking rules and for posting warez even after a warning not even directed to you.

No they are not. Some games are in the public domain, and can be posted here and linked to any public domain (pd) rom site. Copyrighted material is different. In this case of games.. You would still need to back up your own games with your own dumping hardware. And with the US DCMA, even backing up your own games with your own hardware is a grey area. (Due to the fact that you are purchasing a license to a game, and not the physical game itself. Look at any EA license.)
Downloading is always a no-no. No matter what that BS TOS/disclaimer says on some rom site. The right to back up what you have is your responsibility and can not be downloaded.
Me backing up my own CD -- Legal.
Me downloading a copy of a CD I own -- Illegal.
(of course this is a simple example, cracking protection schemes is another legal story all together.)
On Topic: Ive found, although not perfect, morphgear is the best for snes emulation. Theres also a few versions of LJP (little-john palm os) which iirc became LJX and got ported to a few different platforms. I know I used to use one version on my old Treo 750. So there have to be a few WM versions out there. Currently cant find any. Will see if I can find any old data backups from my Treo 750.
If anyone wants free, legal roms for snes... http://www.pdroms.de/files/supernes/

Casual games still profitable?

Hi,
recently, after Flappy Bird was put off Google Play Store, there were a LOT of Flappy Bird clones published to Play Store. I'm wondering if these kind of easy casual games are still profitable, considering the amount of time it takes to create them and the money you gain from banners/interstitial ads. I guess most of the games just don't get enough attention because of the enormous mass of casual games nowadays.
Are there any developers out there who can make a living out of creating casual games? Or do bigger projects equal bigger money? Need to hear some experiences about that, still not sure which dimensions to choose for the my next couple of games.

I would recommend you head over to App Annie and read up a little bit. They can tell you what is trending and what markets to hit with your game. They have some very valuable market statistics to help you determine your goal.
As far as casual games go? Take a look at this article. I would venture to say you're still good for awhile.
Interesting link, thanks! Seems that casual games aren't that outworn - for now.
I'm a casual games dev and I make more than the average salary with them, so I think the opportunity is definitely still there. I also think it is pretty difficult, and some of my worse games are the best money makers, so I think luck plays a role as well.

Interesting that you should ask. They just released another article relating to the Advertising and Monetization of Apps. They draw some statistics from 2013-2014 regarding Advertisements in-app and on the web to show how lucrative mobile development can be. That's one way you can use the statistics to help market your game. Furthermore, they show what works and what doesn't.

Interesting read 'Worldwide App Annie Index for Games February 2015'
I read on a Unity flyer that Crossy Road generated $1million in two months from add revenue.
Think its testament to the fact that if its novel an original you just never know.

You're absolutely correct. You can really develop a one-off and not even know it's going to be successful. My advice is to keep making games to increase your knowledge of coding and some of those games where you may be just testing a physics engine or special concept might be the most fun.
I made some Game with > 1 millions users, and I earn only $100-$200 every month.
3 years ago, with less users I earned $1000 by month.
What kind of game did you make?
Sent from my 2013023 using XDA Free mobile app
It's not a binary question but more of a sliding scale. Casual games can be profitable, but to move towards the point where profit is more predictable and less of a coin toss, you really need an ecosystem of small, solid games rather than a few make-or-break titles. Apps by the same developer cross-promote to some extent, and a lot of other little things play into it.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but since most of the old Nintendo games are still being sold via the Nintendo eShop to be played on newer consoles like the Wii U (and I guess there is something similar on Sony's side) aren't all the threads in this section against forum rules #6 and #9 by providing links to download games (roms) illegally? Yes I know, i'm supposed to only download games that I already own, and these games are pretty old but I thought they were still considered like copyrighted materials...?
Don't get me wrong, I like this game forum idea, but I'm just a little surprised its tolerated... and curious to know why its ok for Nintendo and Sony materials but its not tolerated elsewhere on xda for lets say, a random cracked app from the playstore...?
And according to what Nintendo is saying here, especially what said under:

You make some good points, and we are investigating it to determine whether we should keep this section or close it down. It's rather confusing because there are multiple stances on game emulators and game roms. I wonder how the apps are able to exist on Google Play.
