Slide to unlock not working - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A couple days ago I noticed the slide to unlock function stopped working. Sometimes after a rebot it work again. Sometimes opening the gamepad the screen goes to landscape display and it can be unlocked. But today it has gone completely frozen, none of these workarounds seems to work. The phone seems fine, it turns on and off correctly, but since it is locked by default I can't do a thing. Also, I had it to request the SIM pin code at start up, but since it locked it doesn't connect to the network. The only thing that works is holding On/Off button, and selecting shut work with the gamepad.
When it does unlock it only work in landscape mode, when the screen is vertical nothing works!
In other forums this problems seems to be related to HTC phones (mine is Xperia Play, 8 months old, not rooted, v. it ends with 69 I don't know the exact number) or a low battery problem (is fully charged). My guess is that opening and closing the phone to use the gamepad might have damaged some bus cable in the screen. Does anyone ever had a problem like this and know how to fix it, if it software related?
All technology seems to be against me: Windows Phone discontinued support for 6.5 after I got one and now this with Android. iPhone seems the only thing that works "kinda" well and I've never had one

[Q] Touchscreen and WiFi problem

Hello everybody
I'm having some issues with my XS.
Firstly, sometimes when I type my 4 digits unlock code to unlock my screen quickly, many '*' are displayed and the backspace does not work. I have to press the switch off button twice so as to be able to enter my code properly.
Secondly, many times my XS seems to be in ghost mode, that is, even if I do not touch the screen, the phone seems to be receiving input command and hence, many apps are opened.
Thirdly, after I have remove my phone from my pocket, the phone has gone on emergency and many characters are present on the screen even if I have locked my screen.
Fourthly, my WiFi turns off by itself even if my browsers are open. Many times my phone constantly shows that the WiFi is being switched off and hence cannot be turned on. I must restart my phone to have my WiFi working back again.
Can anyone help me out please?
Thank you.
My Xperia runs Android 4.0.4 and I dont think that it has been rooted.
Hi
Such strange behaviour could be due to 3rd party apps or software glitch
I would suggest that you reinstall the phone's software using SUS.
http://www.sonymobile.com/in/tools/update-service/
IMPORTANT: After repairing your phone, do not install any app on it ( not even a single) but observe if your phone behaves in the same way.
If you don't wanna repair then make a check on apps such as antivirus/ task killers, try uninstalling them one by one and see if it makes any difference

[Q] My Xperia Play slider problem.

my phone was working very well without any problems, but few days ago when i was at my bro's place i dont know if i slept on the phone or what but when i woke up i found that the phone had been slid out and it was restarting and the xperia play launcher was automatically launching, i couldnt understand what was wrong so i disabled launch xperia play launcher when device slide out option.
but then i found that my device does not recognize that it has been slid out i.e screen orientation does not change when device slide out also xperia play launcher does not auto launch on device slide out(when the option has been enabled).
then i saw that my screen orientation would change automatically for portrait to landscape and vice versa without any reason, some times this happens very fast and screen appears to be flickering.
the phone is acting really weird does anyone know what might be the problem and have a solution for it.

Try fixing it using the PC companion or SUS(sony update service). If you have knowledge on flashing that would be much easier and faster. You will have to install those apps to your pc of course. If it'll not work, just crossed fingers and wish it is not a hardware problem but in my experience, I even dropped my phone and slept with it but still working good. Is the touchscreen is messing? Is it responsive?
touchscreen is fully responsive no problem with touchscreen, i tried factory resetting the phone through cwm but no help. currently the phone seems to be working fine but only problem is that the phone does not detect that the gamepad has been slid out so the screen does not change orientation and also some games do not work with gamepad like PES2012 anymore.

Don't be so sure. There are two of those involved and a third component that's even more likely.
It could be the main slide cable (~$10), the one with the switches for Back, Home, Menu, and Search (~$4), or the metal fingers that are part of the slider assembly (~$20). It might be best just to get the whole slider assembly with cables (~$23) because it comes with all of that and then some (earpiece/camera).

[Q] Phone stuck in screensaver mode

Hi!
I brought my Xperia Play phone USED two years ago and I've never had any problems with it.
However, recently, the phone has started to freeze itself in "screensaver" mode (Where the screen goes black after 15 seconds and locks the phone), but the screen won't light up no matter which button I press. I've had to restart the phone every time this happens.
It's been behaving strange at start up as well, as it sometimes take 20 minutes just for it to turn on, while on other occasions, it won't turn on at all!
Is this problem caused by the battery, or is it the hardware?
Is it with stock firmware?

Yes.
I've never modded it or installed custom firmware/apps.
Have you tried factory resetting it?

Yes, but it didn't fix it. The problem still occurs.
tldr: Black screen, no display, everything works "under" (I can answer the phone etc). Not a flex cable problem because occurs randomly, regardless of the slider being open or closed. The problem also occurs during boot up, so rather not a software problem.
I think I have something similiar. Everything was fine until a few days ago the screen didn't want to unlock..or at least I thought it was that.
Basically the phone sometimes works OK but sometimes if I turn off (lock) the screen, it won't go back. To be precise, the phone works and if someone calls me I can pick it up moving the finger where the slider should be, it's just the display doesn't turn on. Same goes for booting, bootloader logo etc, so IMO it's not a software problem.
Strange thing is that it just randomly pops back, sometimes when I move the gamepad slider, sometimes when I put in a jack cable or if I hard reset the phone (remove battery). I've had problems with the flex cable in the past and this time I know that it's not it (no difference if I open/close the slider).
My guess would be some power supply or LCD driver IC issues, because the screen stops working almost everytime if I put the phone into the dock. Moreover, if the screen doesn't work, the orange charging LED is not working (green and blue are OK). The moment the screen starts working, the orange charging LED starts working too.
it's very strange but I'm used to electronics doing strange stuff. Just wondering if I should give a try disassembling the phone and trying to fix it or just buy a new one or something?
I might add that I have bought a new battery ~3 months ago, but it's been working fine to this point. I have tried if the same problem occurs with the old/original battery and it's the same.
well, any ideas?
edit: This video shows something very similiar (except the backlight): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4p0-kv1cxA
Same problem. And I guess this guy has it too.

[Q] Help: Wifi, Bluetooth, Screen Rotation stopped working

Hi there,
i couldn't find my problem already discussed via the board search, so i'm posting it here. i hope this is the right board, if not please relocate.
i'm using the find7a since about 1 year now. the only updates i did for colorOS were the ones that have been proposed automatically via the popups. but these i did every time.
i have alwas had several issues with the phone/os, mostly random shutdowns without any reason. but at some point, these shutdowns suddenly declined and i got used to live with the few that still occur from time to time. but now i have a much bigger problem and i don't know where it came from:
few days ago, i got the popup that a new os-update was available. i had a little time so i did it instantly. without any problems the update was installed and after that the phone booted as always and nothing strange happened. 1 day later i recognized that something had changed. i wasn't able to turn on the wifi anymore! same goes for the bluetooth. also the automatic screen rotation (when you turn the phone in a right angle) didn't work anymore! but all of them DID work for the 1 day since i made the last update. so i assumed it has nothing to do with the new os-version (which is 1.2.9 btw). i didn't change anything in the phones settings, everything was the same. but from one moment to the other these three problems suddenly came up. maybe even more that i didn't recognize yet.
although everything worked fine for 1 day since the update, i thought maybe the update could be the problem after all. so i wanted to flash another version of colorOS. i tried the 2.0.8i which was considered stable by the official oppo board admins on friday. the flashing worked fine, colorOS 2.0.8i booted, but the problems remained! still no wifi, no bluetooth, no screen rotation.
next thing i thought: maybe it's a hardware problem. so i flashed another ROM (always making a factory reset + wiping all cashes and data from the internal storage first), i tried a few. they were all flashed successfull but most of them hung up during the first boot sequence (cyanogenmod, paranoid, nameless), i always got stuck in the loading screen. last one i tried was OMNI ROM, and this one finally worked, meaning i got it started. first thing i did was checking the wifi connection and what do you know? the wifi worked just fine, my home network was found immediately und the connection went all good! which means a hardware defect should be out of the question.
this brings me back to thinking the problem lies within colorOS. which would be very sad becaue i really like colorOS and i would like to keep using it!
reproduction of the issues:
to reproduce the problems, when you are on the home screen you simply have to drag down the shortcut-menu. then tap on "wifi" and watch the symbol turn into the one for "loading" (the circling line). and then: nothing happens. the loading symbol just keeps on circling on and on. when you slide the menu up and down again, the normal "wifi-off" symbol shows and wifi is not turned on.
almost the same goes for the bluetooth. only when you tap this icon, the loading animation stops after a few seconds und the "bluetooth-off" icon appers again, this time without sliding the menu up and down. bluetooth stays turned off anyway.
for the rotation problem you just need to got to an app, where you can type in some text, f.e. whatsapp or gmail. tap the message area to make the keyboard and the cursor appear and then turn the phone from vertical to horizontal. normally the display should rotate automatically, but it doesn't it just stays in the vertical view mode. of course the rotation ist activated all the time, so no need to advice that
the rotation problem does not only occur when trying to type sth. in but also when i want to watch videos (f.e. with the vlc player app). the video stays locked in the vertical mode, making the image very small of course. this is also very annoying!
so, what do you think could be the reason for my problems? and what could i do to solve them? i hope you can help me.
i attached a log-file which hopefully shows the bugs.
my current specs are:
find 7a
colorOS 1.2.9
TWRP 2.8.6.0

H8324 XZ2 Compact Boot (Launcher?) issue

Hello,
My wife's Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact with model number H8324 has an issue with booting or maybe the launcher getting stuck in a loop after getting to the lock screen for a split second.
The phone seems to boot like normal and gets to the lock screen, we are even able to punch in one or two digits of the 4 digit pass code. Then it goes into a loop of the notification bar and back button flickering. From then on the phone is not responding except for the power button which brings up the normal "Turn off, Reboot, and Lockdown" menu. The issue just started out of nowhere yesterday morning and we haven't been able to fix it yet. We haven't done any rooting or custom rom flashing, it's running the official Sony software but it's out of warranty.
Here's a video showing the issue. The video shows the whole boot process but the link takes you to the last part after the logos.
We would love to get some files off it so if there is a way anyone can help us with that we'd prefer it over a hard reset.
Things we've already tried
Turning the phone off and on again
Unlocking the phone in the split second the lock screen works, this is just too short to swipe up and then put in four digits.
Rebooting the phone
Booting while charging
Booting into safe mode (this has the same issue)
Connecting the phone with USB to a pc, the phone is recognized by Windows, but it doesn't share it's filesystem with Windows.
Connecting the ADB to it, alas usb debugging is not yet enabled on the phone
Trying to get into recovery mode, we haven't been able to get into the recovery menu. Googling seems to indicate it might be holding volume up + power button when the phone is off but then it doesn't seem to do anything at all.
We're currently trying to run out the battery of the phone to see if that will resolve the issue on it's own.
If anyone has any idea, we would love to hear it.
no solution from me. But I have exact same problem and tried same things. Yesterday I did not used the phone. Day before shut down, today tunred it on and it starts with the issue. Strange it happens to both of us at the same time frame. removing sims did not help either.
By holding down "volume down+power" I was able to boot in safe mode but the same issue occur; no way to get into the phone.
Yeah that's weird. Draining the battery did nothing for us. There was not much data that we wanted to extract from the phone. Most of it was contacts and an emulated Pokémon game save file. So my wife eventually reflashed the OS with Xperia companion which did actually resolve the issue of not being able to use the phone.
I faced the same problem today ,i have xz2 , yesterday it was 24% and today i found it 0% so I put it in the charger ,but I faced this problem
