accesspoint to 3g sip connection - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi you clever guys
I have a rooted Samsung gts5830 - android 2.3.3 setup as a access point and it is connected to a 3g network by a data connection. I want to use a Samsung pocket (gts5300)-android 2.3.6 to make sip calls by connecting by wifi to the gts 5830 and then to the 3g network. I can make sip calls with the gts5830 but fail to get a registration with the gts5300 over wifi. What is the reason and how can I achieve my goal ? Any help will be appreciated

Maybe a few months too late, but is it clear YOU cant use internet when you are hosting a wifi spot? That's what I understand from your text

[Q] Can I use HSDPA and wifi at the same time?

Hello, I was curious if I can use 3G and wifi at the same time. When I turn on wifi it switches 3g off if a network is present. Can I have them both working at the same time
Hi, in my opinion this will not work. How should the data be separated? As far as I know you or the sw has to decide which packets have to be send over which connection. What do you need this for?

Not as far as I know. It's senseless anyway
I am with 3 uk and they have skype but it only works over mobile network, when I use wifi it stops. That's why I need it, no other reasons

[Q] Can my mobile operator block the tethering option?

Hi Guys, I am using an XPERIA ARC 3G on Tigo Colombia.
I have an unlimited data plan and it works smooth, but the tethering option is not working. I have tried on several laptops and the connection does not provide internet access to any of them.
Can the network operator find out I am tethering and block the network access?
My sister owns an Iphone on the same operator and tethering was even block from the options but she called the support help desk and they enabled that option; unfortunatly the same help desk seems to be unwilling to help me because I own an android phone.
Thanks for your suggestions.
i'd like to know as well. I'm on Fido in Canada, and my tethering was working on 2.1 with Barnacle on my SE Xperia X10, but now on my Arc, the 2.3 default wifi tethering isn't working. In fact, it disrupts and blocks my data connection when i try to tether, and is not even broadcasting a wifi signal for other devices to see.
I also downloaded Barnacle Wifi Tether and tried to tether that way, but that's not working either.
I was under the impression that as long as you have a data plan, a network operator can't block tethering because it can't differentiate what the data is being used for...

A few of us with the same problem, it's not your operator it's your phone

Sip over cell networks?

I am looking to do some sip calling using my data plan. I like the stock rom is there a flashable zip to allow sip calling over 3g? If not is there a custom rom that allows this? Thanks in advance.

SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol, and it is a standard for Voice over Internet Protocol (Voip).
@420247paul, do you have a SIP server available? CM7 has an "Internet Calling" option in the "Call settings" section of its configuration. We have a VoIP server here at my work, and it was fairly simple to configure the Internet Calling to work with our server. It was able to dial and receive calls even using the data plan. (3G speeds made for poor quality calls, however.)
Keep in mind that using SIP calling will drain your battery faster than the water trough of a Kentucky Derby winner. (It uses a lot of battery. )
ok..i dont do internet calling. thanks for info, sorry couldnt help

Roaming on Wifi question

I've tried searching the web for an answer for this but i keep coming up with the GS3 wifi bug that has a different description.
What i want to know is if im still on roaming while on wifi. The "R" signal disappears whenever I connect to wifi.
Hope someone can let me know asap as im waiting for a very important call from overseas.

Assuming that the R you are refering to stands for data roaming, then no, you shouldn't be data roaming once you connect to wifi. As for signal roaming, for your reception for voice calls, then I wouldn't think toggling wifi would affect that, you will still be roaming.
