S5660V Optus - Best baseband? - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hi, I have a Galaxy Gio GT-S5660V from Optus Australia. currently running the S5660MUGKG3 baseband. I occasionally have issues with bluetooth refusing to turn on, wifi not turning on and then rebooting my phone, etc. I've downloaded the latest firmware from sammobile "S5660VXXKQK_S5660VOPPKQ2_OPP". Should I flash this baseband to my Gio? I'm running GalaxyICS CM9 RC1 from Maclaw. Any other Aussie Gio users? Which baseband do you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Im not sure what baseband does but i know its according to region and the one you have right now is the one that came preinstalled on my gio, the Canadian one, so it might cause trouble for Australia idk

Yes, I installed the Canadian Bell ROM and baseband in order to unlock my phone. Baseband sits under the ROM and controls the hardware interface. There are a few basebands out there for S5660, S5660M and S5660V, but I can't find any information on which is the latest, changes, or which is better for stock/CM ROMs, etc.

Use the latest wich is specific for your V model, otherwise you will get problems..

[Q] Root o2 n7100

Hi There,
My phone :-
Model: GT-N7100
Andriod Version : 4.1.1
Baseband: N7100XXALIH
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-240505 [email protected]#1
Build :JRO03C.N7100XXALIJ
Network/carrier : o2 - UK
I want to root this phone to possibly install custom ROM, I have seen a warning that o2 has insecure kernels and this may brick my phone? I have searched everywhere for the files for o2 rooting but cant find any information on how to do it safely. Can I follow the guide for a standard N7100 or do I have to do somthing different because im on o2 uk?

I don't think you want your baseband version to change. Your baseband in a way is what allows connections to regional mobile operators to get proper signals. If you flash a different baseband, you may not always receive mobile service - the service operator will see that your phone is on a different baseband and may not allow you to connect. I haven't done it myself, but sometimes there may be a baseband update for a specific baseband version.
use Odin to Flash another baseband
Chinese are improving themselves!

[Q] Call problem

I am using EhnDroix III and I can't call anyone. When I try to call, it doesn't ring at all and when someone calls me, I pick up but I hear nothing on the other side... Any help? SMS is working fine so not a carrier problem. I have had this problem with stock CM10 as well... Any suggestions?

How about changing the baseband? Did you try this already?
So do I have to change the baseband? Cuz I'm using dxlm2 so... Do I use dxlm2 or something else?

I´m not sure it´s the baseband, but it´s quite possible. I once also had problems with one of Arcos early CM9 betas after upgrading the baseband and had to revert back to the one I used before. In further Betas this problem is gone, so I could use the newer baseband too. Each release of a baseband has a different name. So for me the older was something with KL3 and the newer LMB. You have to make sure the baseband you will flash is used in your region/location. There are basebands for europe, asia, africa and so on.
It worked.... not for long. I changed to PacMan ROM due to recommendation and its gone. I flashed it again and it came back but when I swapped sd card using build.prop, its gone even though I flash the baseband. Now I am trying to swap via vold.fstab. Let's see how it goes...

t989d radio for 4.2.2

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S2 (t989d). I've been trying to get CM10.2 (4.2.2) working but it would only be able to connect to my service provider for a second and cut out.
I've downgraded to 10.0.0 (4.1.2) and it is working.
Therefore my assumption is that I need to update the radio to work with 4.2.2. I've tried a bunch of radios (tlle4, tllg2) and have no luck. Has anyone had this problem and knows what radio to use?
Thanks!
To clarify my service provider is WindMobile
You need to try the MC6 radio or the latest telus radio should work for ya check the development thread and check radios

[Q] trying to update galaxy SII SGH-T989D to jellybean on t-mobile network

Ok so I bought a Galaxy SII unlock from ebay. Phone says t-mobile but the model # on my splash/boot screen says SGH-T989"D" how ever when I go to phone info it show as model SGH-T989 (no "D") my provider is t-mobile on a monthly unlimited (no contract) Phone works just trying to update to get the benefits from the update... I have tried to update using Samsung kies and it says device is not supported (am I missing something? ) so can anyone enlighten me to whats going on
* why phone is not detected in Kies.
* why cant I update to jelly bean.
* is the D on the model number for a different provider and is there a way to update to jelly bean through software from that provider.
UPDATE: Just realized that the model # SGH-T989"D" only shows up on my Splash/boot screen, in my about Phone > phone model it shows SGH-T989 (without the "D")
Feedback will be welcome
Thanks
I'm pretty sure the t989d is e Canadian variant from Wind Mobile.

What it says on the boot screen depends only on the Rom. If the front says T-Mobile it's probably a T989.

It doesn't really make a difference, both are the same and any t989 roms will work. It would be good to know which it actually is tho....a D or not a D. A few minor issues could arise. I have the D from Telus.
The only issue I can think of off the top of my head is that the 4.1.2 Tiberius kernel messes up my rotation. But I was also using a Telus based rom at the time. So not sure if that was a rom or phone model issue.

It doesn't matter if you're flashing the ROM, but if you use kies or odin it might not work with the wrong model. I had the t989 but I wanted the Koodo rom since there was less bloatware. I wasn't able to do it using kies or odin, but I could flash t989d roms through recovery.

Update: it seems to be working .....so I saw one post of a user that said that he flashed his phone ...looked into it and tried it here is what I found .......
for some reason my unlocked phone has a SGH-T989D (Canada version) Baseband board i started flashing the t-mobile official ROM....phone was not stable baseband said Unknown , ran the Telus and and phone was smooth as butter so I decided to run the T-mobile again. Telus version updated the baseband version to the current one and now the t-mobile ROM seems to be working now
