[Q] Root o2 n7100 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi There,
My phone :-
Model: GT-N7100
Andriod Version : 4.1.1
Baseband: N7100XXALIH
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-240505 [email protected]#1
Build :JRO03C.N7100XXALIJ
Network/carrier : o2 - UK
I want to root this phone to possibly install custom ROM, I have seen a warning that o2 has insecure kernels and this may brick my phone? I have searched everywhere for the files for o2 rooting but cant find any information on how to do it safely. Can I follow the guide for a standard N7100 or do I have to do somthing different because im on o2 uk?

S5660V Optus - Best baseband?

Hi, I have a Galaxy Gio GT-S5660V from Optus Australia. currently running the S5660MUGKG3 baseband. I occasionally have issues with bluetooth refusing to turn on, wifi not turning on and then rebooting my phone, etc. I've downloaded the latest firmware from sammobile "S5660VXXKQK_S5660VOPPKQ2_OPP". Should I flash this baseband to my Gio? I'm running GalaxyICS CM9 RC1 from Maclaw. Any other Aussie Gio users? Which baseband do you recommend? Thanks in advance.
Im not sure what baseband does but i know its according to region and the one you have right now is the one that came preinstalled on my gio, the Canadian one, so it might cause trouble for Australia idk

Yes, I installed the Canadian Bell ROM and baseband in order to unlock my phone. Baseband sits under the ROM and controls the hardware interface. There are a few basebands out there for S5660, S5660M and S5660V, but I can't find any information on which is the latest, changes, or which is better for stock/CM ROMs, etc.
Use the latest wich is specific for your V model, otherwise you will get problems..

[Q] Can't tell what the real model/rom is on my phone

I bought what I thought was a TMobile Note II from craigslist. It works on tmobile 4g. Ater I had it a couple days I realized it was unlocked running a custom rom and the phone model number is SGH - I317 which is an ATT model number. The sticker on the phone behind the battery says SGH-I317 but the Android System info says SGH T889. Booth animation is also tmobile. If it is Tmobile I want to return it to stock. How can I tell what phone I really have and how can i tell what rom is on this thing?
Please help

So is the physical model number correct? This is an ATT SGH-I317 with tmobile Rom on it? If I want to return it back to stock I need an ATT image?
Thanks

If it says SGH-l317 on the sticker that is the model and you correct its just running rom based on other model. You can get att stock rom with root injected from link below just flash using odin.

Yeah.....what he said.
Even if it didn't say the model number the att modem gives it away. Not compatible with t-mobile

[Q] Which stock rom do I use?

HI guys I don't know what stock rom to use for Odin, my build number is JZO54K.N7100XXDME6 and my baseband version is N7100XXDMF1 I need which ever one is preferably for the U.S. Thanks.
Go to sammobile and find the file to flash your phone with. If I can remember it correctly, they classify it according to carrier and model.

[Q] Delete operator rom

Hello there,
My father have a GT-N7100. He bought it in France with the operator Orange.
The problem is that he's tired of the 4.1.2 Orange's rom and want to remove it to the pure stock Samsung Rom.
Can someone explain me how to install the latest Samsung Rom for the French GN2? I think the region's code is XEF or something like that...
Tell me if you need more informations to help me. )
Go to sammobile.com and choose any stock rom you prefer for your n7100... but if you like flashing custom roms and all, I'l not recommend 4.3 because it is not downgradable and also sets 'knox warranty void' counter to one.. (which cant be reset as of today)

I search on various Android website and the last Samsung ROM for my country is the N7100XXDME6_N7100OXADME2_XEF but I can't find this... Seems that all the links for this ROM were Hotfile's one and as Hotfile is down...
Flash dr.ketans prerooted firmware odexed dmg1.. it has dev-host link.. and it dsnt matter if you flash another country's firmware..

[Q] Help choosing correct stock rom.

Hello everyone.
I've owned my Note 2 for since 2013 but it was unused for most of the time since I also own a Nexus. Before I stuck it into the drawer I installed CM 10. 2. Now I would like to go back to stock rom but am having a trouble choosing a correct rom. It is unbranded international version, baseband N7100XXALIH.
Can any of you guys kindly advice please?
Thanks in advance.
Go to sammobile, choose firmwares, choose check firmware, pick note 2 model and your country, it will auto pop out the latest stock rom for you according to country. 4.4.2 is latest
