AOKP is an awesome custom Android firmware. (just like MIUI and CyanogenMod).
AOKP is based on AOSP and looks as vanilla as possible, and focusses on lots and lots of user-friendly features. What makes it different from CM is that there are many more user-customizable features.
KANGXPERIAPROJECT
This ROM is a combined work of all members of KangXperiaProject.
AOKP is not officially supported on any of the Xperia smartphones. So we made a Kang XperiaProject team comprising
Supervenom , Championswimmer, Pikpok, mikegapinski
We maintain sources from which we build (not winzip porting) AOKP for all the Xperias.
We are not any great developers (all teenagers). We are just trying to provide users with more ROM options
Our work is not possible without using sources from FreeXperiaProject.
Changes to the UI / framework / functionality of the ROM is the work of Team Kang

Copy ROM zip and Gapps to sdcard
If coming from stock, flash kernel that has recovery using fastboot (not needed if you have recovery)
Boot phone, go into recovery (press vol-up(2012) or back(2011) when led is purple)
IF COMING FROM SOME OTHER ROM, make factory wipe then go into mounts/storage and format system (not needed if updating AOKP)
install zip from sd card then flash gapps if you want them (kernel is flashed automatically with zip for 2012 models, for 2011, fastboot flash the kernel)
reboot and enjoy

same status here...
first I got error message "set_perm: some changes failed." then I fixed permissions from menu and tried again.
Error : "symlink: some symlinks failed."
E: Error in /sdcard/..../..zip " (status 7)
Installation aborted.

I believe that status7 means it has failed to get prop, I'm not 100% on this but I believe that the lines in the updater script which contain 'getprop' need to be deleted? I can't test it yet as I am waiting for my new acro to be delivered

It's glad to see more and more ROM are starting working for ACRO S. However, please pay attention for the difference between Xpreia S and ACRO S extremly the extenal SD card support.

update: but it boots up to your ROM. All good. stats.aokp.co looks down, so I don't know if you get my stats?
anyway let me reboot to recovery and install gapps and I will let it run this night, and update if any issues are there.
You are not alone.. Supervenom's Xperia Play build also has this problem.. And I dun think it's a get prop error. Open the updater script and y will see those lines missing. Moreover if it's get prop error, the error will be something else. Just mine 2¢.. And anyone managed to solve this?
Edit: full wipe and system format then install. That worked. After that restore data cache and sd-ext to get back data.. That worked for me.

good news : no more kernel fastbooting required
1. flash a kernel that has recovery. (if you run cobrato's kernel or cm9/cm10 kernel then not required since you already have)
2. go to recovery and wipe data/cache, format system
3. flash the provided ROM zip. (the kernel is inside zip and will be flashed to device from the recovery only)
4. NO NEED TO FASTBOOT KERNEL. it gets installed when you install the ROM.
5. reboot and enjoy

No camera... but that's not gonna happen without Sony's help.
No online pics getting synced to gallery app.:thumbdown:
HDMI ... I haven't tried.
Graphics issues noticed in Facebook app and google reader.
Other than these For my normal use, pretty much every thing is working.

Neither Team Inferno, or Cyanogenmod Team, or anyone else that was involved in this project is responsible for you device. Please be nice as this is my first ROM for GT-i9000.
So what is this? This is CM9, compiled and tabletized by the Team.
The stock Android keyboard that comes with the rom after flashing this mod is all distorted. I'd suggest downloading this one which works and looks fine.
Note: This ROM can certainly be used as a Daily Driver, however, everything is small. That we cannot fix because of the smaller screen size that we have. However, this is still fun nonetheless, if you don't mind the small stuff.
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Installation
- First time flashing ICS to your Galaxy S (or coming from another ROM)?
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Reboot into Recovery using 3-button-combo
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Optionally install the Google Addon
WIPE again or Calendar Sync will not work.
- Upgrading from CM7?
Do a Nandroid Backup!

Finaly got it booting via cm10 kernel , when i turn it to sleep mode
it shuts down , why ???
EDIT:
the found issues :
1)Lockscreen 100% not working , it just shuts down when i press the lock button :|
2)The screen flashes black when gets touched :|
3)Kinda slow , knowing that it should be fast cuz of project butter but its not.
4)The boot.img file in the rom's zip doesnt work , i had to flash cm10's boot.img so maybe my problems are because of that
the same for me. boot.img can't be flash with fastboot.

Nice to see someone do it before me I'll release an official (official AXP, not AOKP) build of ICS in a week or so, with most features working. Then if my ugly hack idea doesn't work, I'll hold off JB until we get the blobs it needs to work right.

THIS is aokp only
by unofficial i only mean that this is not supported by TeamKang (they only support the nexus devices, galaxy s devices, captivate and transformers)
rest this is pretty much a 4.1.1 AOKP build right for your Xperia S.

Copy ROM zip and Gapps to sdcard
If coming from stock, flash kernel that has recovery using fastboot (not needed if you have recovery)
Boot phone, go into recovery (press vol-up(2012) or back(2011) when led is purple)
IF COMING FROM SOME OTHER ROM, make factory wipe then go into mounts/storage and format system
install zip from sd card then flash gapps if you want them (kernel is flashed automatically with zip for 2012 models, for 2011, fastboot flash the kernel)
reboot and enjoy

To flash the ROM, you have to root and unlock your phone, which might be dangerous or difficult for some of you to follow. Also, your warranty is now void. Cm10.1 RCs are rolling out but CM support for Ion (not FXP) ended on cm9 and there are no RCs for Ion as I see. But, as soon as FXP develops CM10.1 or RC roll out for Ion, I will make 4.2.2 version for Ion. Yes, there's no OTA update for now.

I think still FXP team can't find a way to make it work. So if it is a bug in CM10 then it will be in this ROM. I forgot to check whether it is working or NOT. Now I am on stock firmware

Oh. That just cooled me off from unlocking the BL :/
Since my contract includes unlimited texts, I use them a lot. Having a limit would be less useful (as I would have to send the next sentence in another sms :/ )
it would be nice if include the file manager for next version. it's important for people who use titanium backup. need to install apk without connecting to internet.

Would you please certify to me that you can type more than 160 characters while sending an SMS? It would be really nice.
Otherwise you can still make flashable CWM zips with Titanium Backup, so that you can flash a zip containing your file manager for example

The sms bug still there. Even fxp still can't solve it till now. There are numerous report about 160 character bug in their bug tracker. None of them are solve.

No, mobile data never worked, but I'm compiling version with some ril changes now hopefully at least calling will work.

Update coming tomorrow still not able to place calls, but receiving them works, also camera is a little bit functional:
- no focus with back camera
- no taking of normal pics or video recording
- front camera fully functional
- panorama function works

Hardly working, but if I understand correctly getting the camera to start and all is possible with unlocked bootloader, it just cannot focus and that makes it pretty much useless.
Im assuming no one has tried this then at all? Ive just wasted time testing this... theres an issue, when you choose wipe data/ factory reset, the data partition doesnt mount... this results in constant FC since data has not been wiped...
on top of that you cannot then restore a backed up ROM since Data partition does not mount!
Not sure if you've even tested yourself?
seems its best to fix recovery first before distributing ROMS
my 2nd day wasted on Custom Roms...

Any news? Coming from nexus is love to see this working. Just waiting until I can make calls and use mobile data.Bluetooth is a non issue.the camera has been fixed in 4.3
i am almost sure krabappel2548 mentioned in the doomlord ZU GE 4.4.2 rom thread that he would fix the camera and other issues, and then (as far as i know) he went missing

Hello to all of you,
I have some very sad news especially for Xperia Z1 and ZU users..
But first I wanna give a lot of thanks to all of you for the great support and confidence in me throughout my development times here on XDA, I've met some wonderful people and learned a lot. I know people respect me and it's given me a great feeling of satisfaction.
I have some really difficult issues/situation to deal with in real life now, I can't keep running away from it. I'm sorry to announce to the entire community I'll stop development right now.
I don't know if and when I'll come back. I hope I can come back, but it all depends on my personal situation. Please don't sent me a lot of pm's about the issues. Thank you.
