[Q] USB Audio ? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does Galaxy NOTE 2 supports or is capable to output audio via usb ? (similar with galaxy S3?)
I want to connect an external DAC (Fiio e17) for audio playback. I could not found anywhere the complete specs.
thank you

I don't think this is known yet, but I will getting Note ASAP at release and testing my E7 and HeadAmp Pico USB DAC/amp with it. Virtually make-or-break issue for me.

So far, like the quad-core Exynos powered Galaxy S III, the new quad-core Exynos powered Samsung Galaxy Note II can work with the iBasso D12 and the ODAC, and has some issue with the HeadAmp Pico.
So, in regard to standard USB audio, the behaviour of the Galaxy Note II is likely identical to the behaviour of the Galaxy SIII.

Can you confirm that it works with the galaxy s3 ?
Thanks
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium

I had low sound when using audio jack to car AUX , would usb to aux make it better ?
its not cable if you may say so , its note 2 " works great on tab2 and s2 "

I doubt the E17 works with the Note 2, it didn't work with the Int S3 without molding the S3 (the mod, if it ever existed was never released as far as I'm aware).
Can confirm that the E7 works with Note 2, also Headamp Pico only works via a powered hub (same behaviour as the Int S3, part of why I doubt the E17 will work with the Note 2). Various others confirmed working too, I'm sure DanBa will post an updated list here at some stage.

Now that Galaxy note 2 supports usb-audio can I use my Logitech Audio desk for Iphone with my note 2 ?
would 30ping female connector to micro-usb male converter work ?
or
do we need some specific resistance btween x&y pin to toggle-on the usb audio on Note 2 ?

So far, like the quad-core Exynos powered Galaxy S III, the new quad-core Exynos powered Samsung Galaxy Note II can work with the FiiO E7, the iBasso D12, Leckerton UHA-6S MKII, the ODAC and the VentureCraft Go-Dap X; has some issue with the HeadAmp Pico; and doesn’t work with the FiiO E17.
So, in regard to standard USB audio, the behaviour of the Galaxy Note II is likely identical to the behaviour of the Galaxy SIII.

The Galaxy Note II can work with the FiiO E7. It can't operate with the CEntrance DACport LX:
http://www.head-fi.org/t/595071/android-phones-and-usb-dacs/600#post_8804406
stock Galaxy Note II > digital USB audio out >> USB OTG cable >> FiiO E7 USB DAC/amp >> Sennheiser HD598 headphones

Man, I'm awaiting a Leckterton UHA-6S.MKII (confirmed working with Note 2), and a Ray Samuels Audio "The Intruder" right now (confirmed working with S3, so I believe will also work with the Note 2). So hard waiting!

Can someone explain the benefits of using a USB audio dac with the note 2 when its already got such an excellent audio output?

It has good output, for a phone, which is not quite the same thing as excellent audio output. Users with sensitive IEMs still hear hiss from the Note 2 output, and that can be eliminated by moving audio handling off-device. Users who have harder to drive headphones on the other hand will be unable to drive them from the Note 2, which still has a fairly quiet headphone out, and using a DAC/amp combo alleviates that. Although the Note is a good sounding phone, the DAC implementation is necessarily still full of compromises because it has to exist in a device where there are numerous other chips and radios running and where the power supply isn't devoted solely to it either. Most people won't hear enough of a difference to be bothered with it, but those of us who are tend to be using very high quality headphones and we consider it worth it.
(it also means that for a one-off investment you can ignore whatever DAC and implementation thereof a manufacturer has seen fit to churn out in a new device, providing a device has USB audio, which may have ramifications down the line the next time you come to choosing a phone)
(for most people it also means being able to have much higher quality from their laptop and/or desktop for the same one-off investment)

Thank for the information.
Can you suggest some good USB Audio DAC? My Lenovo T420 has crappy audio, and using this both on my laptop and note might be cool.
Thanks.

I have the same DAC, and I can confirm that it does NOT work with my Note 2 sadly... The Note 2 recognizes that a USB audio device is connected, but I get no sound...

I can't find my DAC to test right now, but I bought these items and they are working to provide my Tablet with a charge and USB OTG at the same time.
It's not a FAST charge. I've seen up to 687 mAh with testing over the last ten minutes.
But the mouse and USB stick I've plugged in all seem to work fine.
