I doubt he can do that, since he's not rooted and therefore probably doesn't have a custom recovery.

Is there any particular reason you don't want to root your phone? It's really easy and will solve your problem. Otherwise have you tried contact HTC? Is it 2.2 or 2.3? Have a look at settings/about phones and report back.

Go to post #7 in the link in my signature. It has all the info you need, including a link to a tool called AAHK. Make sure you read everything, including the "effen manual" that comes with AAHK.

Side note when rooting your phones (UK aus speakers might find this funny) try to use Linux to go through the process. Windows can sometimes get complications due to drivers or os 64 and 32. Perhaps get Ubuntu and run it on disc to root your phone. Just follow strictly the instruction posted by. The bloke above me n you will be fine.

No there is not a "superuser" app
Where can I download the official 2.3.3? I can't find it
You are S-OFF but doesn't have the Superuser app yet most definitely.
To get root, you have to flash superuser zip found on Revolutionary FAQ page. Read it and it's there. Third FAQ item if my memory serves me correct.
Alternatively you can just flash a custom rom and it will have superuser out of the box.
EDIT: Here read common problems and questions. It's item number 4

Save that zip file on your SD card.
Choose Recovery on the hboot menu.
Depending on what recovery you have, look for something that says flash/install from sd card
select the file and let it do it's work
reboot

Looks like you haven't flashed a custom recovery yet...
Since you're using a desire with german language, I suspect that you speak german ;-)
Before you play around with your device, I think it's better to read and understand what you're doing. Therefore, brutzelstube.de is a great german website specially about rooting and modding the desire. Maybe you should just read the tutorials there and see what your device is capable of. If you need to ask what to do next for every step, you probably won't have much fun with your rooted desire. Especially if you want to flash a custom rom.
As it is a used device, what about the one who owned the device before? Can't you ask him what exactly he did?
You could also just install and run an app that requires root (like Titanium Backup or Rom Manager) and see what happens...

Well, first of all there was the question if root-access works or not. Looks like the answer was no, but just trying it out does no harm. And since Rom Manager requires root, it should be ok for testing, just like any other root app. I didn't say he would need it.
Or he could just look in app drawer for the superuser app

hi you've posted in the wrong section, this is suppose to be asked in q&a forum. but when you're rooted there is no carrier thats including google wallet because its still in works and there are things that carriers are doing differently. anyways but if you wanna get more info just google it for more info. and if you wanna flash google wallet again just search xda on top and you'll get your forum of how to flash and what not.

The custom recovery requires you ro install it through adb on the computer or through the phone after you download the custom recovery with the app called "terminal emulator" in the play store.
This should be more than a good start for you. Please read. Please. I got this thing rolling by myself without help, I am sure you can too. Good luck.

first of all u need to have s-off and root privileges on your phone. u can find multiple guide here on the forum choose one. then u instal rom manager from app store and after install u open the rom manager and choose option flash recovery and the only option should be G2. Choose it and after few seconds it's done.
or u can use 4ext touch recovery. you shold easily find guide here to do that just use search option
sry i can't get way to root my phone , any one can tell me how root step by step and easily
for future reference google works well for searching as does the xda search button

Best and easy are two different things, and truthfully you should root your phone any other way. Useing rom manager is fine and dandy but you don't learn how to do anything yourself then, which means more often then not when you run into issues later on, which you almost certainly will, you won't know what to do.
Not trying to be a ****, but the directions are pretty straight forward and amount to copy and paste with only a tad of computer knowledge.
If you want "easy" just htc dev unlock your bootloader... but in the long run it will be harder for you

Are you serious? I linked you the step by step process, if its too complicated I also said to use the htc dev unlocked bootloader method (which I'm sure you can work google to find out how)
I'm sorry this seems to complicated for you but there is no safe one click method. again, not being a **** here but if you can't follow the step by step process laid out in the wiki then you shouldn't root your phone, it will be a bad idea... but if you must still and refuse to root the proper way then unlock the bootloader with htcs method, but chance are you will run into more issues.
I'm guessing you will be happier just not alowing yourself root and stick with stock though

[Q] Backup without root

I bought myself a Nexus 4.
Now i'm trying to move everything from my current Desire HD.
Data like pics , music and so i'll just do manually trough pc , contacts i exported to SD and then imported them in Google , apps go trough play store and for text i'll use an sms backup app.
The problem is app data and settings.
There are some backup apps that can do it but they either require root or abdroid 4.0 and up.
My DHD is stock and unrooted , so my question , is there another option , way around it , very easy root method or whatever lets me backup the app data and settings ?
You need root and titanium backup.

If you tell us which version of android you have we can advise you better...

I use my backup pro. Its way simpler than titanium backup, and there is a free version but I paid for the pro. My backup will nack everything up for you but if your not rooted then it isnt able to access the app data so cant back it up. I dont think you will be able to find a solution without rooting. When I rooted I used the AAHK which is no longer available on xda as the dev fell fell out of love with them but can be found through google.
