I've done lots of searching, but I haven't found anyone with this specific problem.

So it all started about a month ago. I plugged in my Evo 4g for the night (As the battery often lasts me a full day.) at around 10% I sleep very well and peacefully. When I wake up in the morning I notice my battery is still at 10%. "CRAP!" I thought, "Did I forget to plug it in?" So I checked everything, made sure it was plugged in, and went to class, without the phone of course. When I got back later that day, I went to my phone, and it was STILL at 10% I was freaking out. I thought my battery had died already! (At this point the phone was less than 2 weeks old.) Finally after being unable to charge, and only having 10% battery, the thing went kaput. Died. I could not for the life of me charge the phone. So I left it sitting around while I had screaming matches with not only Sprint, but the Radioshack I picked it up at. Ugh. About a week later and just as I was about to pay $100 for a new phone, I fixed it. I don't know how, or what happened. I plugged it in out of habbit, and BAM it started working. "**** YOU SPRINT!" *Hangs up phone.* I went on my marry way, being extra careful now to monitor the battery (Which was charging very normally, and lasting me a full day at little to moderate use) Then one day I was just sitting around playing videogames this past Saturday and thought "I'm not using my phone, I'll plug it in and forget about it." (The battery being at 70%.) I plugged it in and about 4 hours (And some amazing killstreaks on CoD) later, my friend called me to ask if I wanted to get lunch (He called my Evo, of course.) "Sure! I'll be right there." I hung up, closed the phone app, looked at my battery, and my heart sank. ...70% "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" (Read: Darth Vader) How could this happen AGAIN?! I used it for the rest of the day conserving as much juice as possible, and trying to charge it every chance I got. But alas.. it died once again. Now, nothing I've tried has worked. I pulled the battery over and over, plugged it in for hours and then tried to turn it on, tried a USB charger, and wall charger (Both HTC, the out of the box original) I tried my roomates LG chargers (USB and wall) Nothing worked! Then I was randomly pressing buttons when I held Power+Up (Which apparently is some kind of hacker-magic) and I got to a white screen! I thought I was saved! I let go of the power button to move around on the screen, or do something at all. Then nothing. It immediately went back to black. And now, it doesn't even go to the white screen anymore! So my question is, (Finally, god he rambled on forever) is there anything I can do to save my amazing phone outside of buying a new battery? Is this a known issue? Even with a new battery, would the same problem occur? And most importantly: What's causing this? Am I at error? Or is it the phone's fault?
Also, sorry for the long story, but I'm sure you get 1000 "Y MY FONE NO WERK?" And I wanted to make mine interesting, at least.
TL;DR My phone doesn't charge, tried every suggestion I could find.

This may sound really simple but......have you tried another battery?
I hooked up my TP2 to the charger after school and my phone seemed to be fine.
The battery is kinda weak these days and I should probably buy a replacement, but I haven't had anything happen quite like this...
Late in the night, I checked my phone and noticed it was in an endless loop of - vibrate, then show stock pinkish and white welcome screen (Tmobile), turn off, repeat. I vaguely remember the screen turning on and off earlier in the day, but I didn't pay much attention until now.
So, I took the SDCard out thinking it was XDAndroid messing things up, but it continued to loop on and off.
Then, I took the battery out to see if I could get it to start with just the charger. It would not. I thought this was strange, since I took the battery out while it was plugged up a few days earlier and it stayed on.
I also tried the tiny little reset button in the hopes that it would stop the loop. But of course, that didn't help.
Eventually, I pulled out my old Tmobile Dash. The old Dash booted fine yet I haven't charged it in several months. Everything about this old phone is excellent, and to this day I think it's one of HTC's finest phones.
I looked at the batteries. Same power connectors, nearly the same output. 500mAh difference between the two, but they had the same voltage. So I stuck the Dash battery into the Touch Pro 2. Unfortunately, the Dash's battery has a tiny notch on it that prevents me from using it. Looks like I could tear that off easily... but I figured it was there for a reason and looked online for solutions.
I couldn't find anything online that seemed to help.
So... I tore the little notch off of the Dash battery. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, since it's not actually part of the battery, but instead part of the plastic wrapping around the battery.
After that I was able to line up the connectors and hold the battery in place. I didn't have to touch anything and the phone came to life.
Oh great! I thought. Then I plugged the phone to the charger and took the battery out. The phone died. I was surprised that the phone couldn't stay on as I've seen before. I tried this a few times, switching the batteries out as fast as I could.
No matter how fast I switched them, the only result would be an endless boot loop and no charge.
At least now I knew it was the battery. I had assumed it was XDAndroid (I had just installed the October kernel - which by the way is much more stable and fasterthan what's used in the July FRX07 release package).
Since Android wasn't suspect anymore, I thought I'd try booting into it with the Dash battery. Once it was done booting into Android, and with the charger connected, I took the battery out.
It stayed on.
Now I was getting somewhere!
I put the original battery back into the Touch Pro 2, put it in Airplane mode (turning off all wireless devices), and now it's charging.
It was kinda funny to see the charging levels during this process. It was at 94% with the Dash battery, then I took out the battery and it stayed there. After putting in the TP2 battery it went down gradually to 54%, and it probably sank lower before rising again. It's now at 71% I'm thinking of maybe turning it off and leaving it connected to the charger to see if it'll start with the loop again. If it doesn't start a loop, then it'll charge faster since it'll be turned off.
Long story short:
When this happens to your Touch Pro 2, it's your battery. I don't recommend fooling with a Dash battery like I did, instead, buy a stand alone battery charger like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Travel-Charge..._1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1318308064&sr=1-4
Or maybe buy a brand new battery. Don't buy cell phone batteries from Amazon though, try getting it from HTC if you can.
My experience sucked, and I hope this post will be of some use to other people still using this particular phone.

I was charging my Epic4G Touch last night - it was around 40 percent, and I was going to spend all day out, so I wanted it fully charged. The phone gets a little warm when it charges, but that's normal. Well, I feel asleep, and I guess I was tired enough to put the phone underneath both of my pillows, aaaaand a fuzzy blanket.
I woke up this morning to the phone practically on fire - it was insanely hot, and it wouldn't turn on. I disassembled the phone - took the case off, took off the battery cover, and took the flaming hot battery out. After letting it cool down, I tried putting it back together, and the phone won't turn on. I tried plugging the phone into it's charger again, and the blue light flashes, the screen flashes on and shows the empty battery icon, then almost instantly turns off. The light itself is really dull.
I don't know what to do. Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas? I'm going to try again in a few minutes, but I'm in New York right now (I live in CT, USA), so I can't visit the Sprint Store with the owner of the line.

Hate to say it, but it sounds like the charger could have eaten your phone. I bought an E4GT about a year ago and the first thing I did was ditch the charger. Weird charge times and rendered the phone unusable while it was charging (would act erratically, charging resyults were inconsistent,
For me, this was corrected when I picked up another charger with the correct specs (5v, .7 amps). I stayed with OEM, but blew past the sprint store to avoid the ridiculous charges. Here are two that I picked up from Amazon:

They are very reasonably priced and I've not had any other issues.
In your case, however, you may want to take phone and charger into Sprint, as it sounds as if your phone may have suffered damage. If you get a new phone (via warranty or insurance), I would recommend getting one or both of the above chargers. Together, these two items are still much cheaper than one bought from Sprint.

I had a similar incident where my power was out & charged with my phone in my car (bad move but wasn't thinking in all the frenzy) and the same thing happened to my phone.. I pulled the battery let my phone sit for a while (a few hours) to cool off and it was back to normal.. You might want to try that, well give it a little longer.. I may have been lucky though

Well, after a day, things seem to be normal. I had to leave the battery out and alone for about 3 hours, but after, when I plugged it in, it started to charge again. So far, everything seems normal, including the battery life, so that's good.
Thanks to both of you. I don't think it was the charger, but picking up another charger is never a bad thing.
Check and see if the sides of your battery are bulged out at all. You should not be able to spin it on a table top for example. If it is at all, you should replace the battery.
Just make sure you spin it clockwise, if you spin it counterclockwise Steve Jobs well poltergeist out of your closet and eat your Epic touch.
He's still out for revenge.

I am REALLY unhappy with this phone. Aside from the poor signal and other issues well known to the Nexus, I now have a phone that has a charging problem. Sometimes when I plug the phone in, it does not recognize that it is plugged in and will not charge. This is not an issue in itself, because if I unplug and plug back in a few times it will eventually charge. The big problem is when it is NOT plugged in. The phone will often switch between charging and not charging on the battery indicator.... even though it is NOT plugged in.
I read up on this and found that... shocker.. this is just one more issue plaguing Nexus owners. The real problem for me is that everytime the phone switches from thinking it is charging to not charging, about every two seconds mostly, the screen comes on. This results in the screen constantly going on an off and the battery draining extremely fast. It is 8:17 am, and I unplugged the phone at 6:40 this morning. In less than an hour and a half, the battery has fallen to 38% and I have not used the phone at all today. It is sitting on my desk, flashing like a disco club.
I have searched but have only found an option to keep the phone ON while charging. Is there an option or app available that will prevent the screen from lighting everytime it thinks I have plugged it in to charge? I am rooted, so any option known would be helpful.
I cannot wait to throw this thing in the garbage, but I am not happy with any of the other options currently available. I like the look of the Galaxy S3 but the Gnex has left a bad taste in my mouth for Samsung... it was my first Samsung phone and I'm not sure if I should judge the product line on all the problems I have had with this phone. I loved the HTC Incredible it just got a little old.
Can anyone help me with this problem... please! It is now at 30% since I typed the last few lines. I can sit and watch this thing draining like a bathtub.

I had this issue caused by water damage quite recently - it was in my pocket during some absolutely unprecedented rain here in the UK, and although it seemed I could charge it without problems, when it was off the charger it'd be confused and flash on and off as you say. I just threw it in some rice and took it out at midnight, problem solved (whether the rice was actually responsible for solving it, I have no idea). Has your phone been used in the rain or anything like that, or been in the pocket of clothes that aren't very 'rainproof' during rain? Could be it.
Is it the charger? I had a bad car charger that did the same thing. If not, I would contact Samsung and see what they can do for you.

It is not the charger, it does the same thing with two different chargers and the car charger. It does actually charge, thats not the problem. The problem is when I am away from the charger the screen just comes on all the time and the battery is drained rapidly. It has been having issues for a week or two now but just recently started having the problem when not actually plugged in.
Someone just needs to make an app with an option NOT to turn on the touchscreen when first plugged in.

Have you been able to fix your issue? I've had zero issues with my Galaxy Nexus for months, and now I'm having the same problem you describe. Initially I thought it was the ROM, but last Sunday I noticed that the phone will simply not sleep without being charged. The USB port appeared to be bent downward, so I used a tiny flat head screwdriver to raise the port. This seemed to fix the issue for a few minutes, but then the phone kept waking up. It's murdering my battery, and I'd like to fix this situation. The problem seems to be intermittent, and occasionally it will work for hours at a time. This leads me to believe that the problem could be internal.
I'm wondering if you tried anything else? I don't have a problem replacing the USB port myself because it seems like an easy and cheap fix. I'm not a novice when it comes to repairing phones, but I'd rather not open the device quite yet.
The new part is $8.00 shipped, and the seller is in the US. You can't go wrong. I will report back once I fix the problem.
Not really, the problem just sort of went away a week ago... I'm getting the Galaxy S3 end of October so I'm not going to replace the USB port. I messed around with the usb thing too, bent it with a knife so it wasnt touching anything. I also tried cleaning the contacts and blowing it out with air... not sure if any of these things helped or not. Like I said if I made it worse didnt matter as I'm getting GS3 soon. So for now its working but not sure why or how or how long...

I've got the exact same issues, it's ruining my battery life. Has anyone found a fix for this yet?
Its a physical problem. You need to replace the charging port, or get new phone like me.

@calaski8123 -> how would I replace the charging port? Should I contact samsung/google?? I have the exact same issue being discussed here and its driving me nuts. And I got this phone just a couple months ago so getting a new phone is not a solution...

If its new I'd take it back under warranty. If not, you can buy the parts on ebay and other sites... Search the Forums here, there are details. You can also search Youtube for a guide. Samsung probably would fix but it would cost much more.
Mine is better, but not sure what fixed it. The battery still doesn't last but half a day so I'm still getting the S3 in week or so.

Gnex Charging Issue
Hi all! Yes, I am another one of the unfortunate owners of a Gnex with this issue. I wanted to send out a reply to everyone that says to replace the USB charging port. I just had mine replaced, and it did not fix the problem. I have also tried different batteries, and I have read where some people are fixing this by *** gently *** bending the USB connector up ( toward the screen ). That also did not fix my problem. A few days ago I installed AOKP 4.2.1, and that was ineffective as well. I am stumped. My Samsung Fascinate was a very good phone, but the Gnex is really making me wonder if I ever want another Samsung. Has anyone found a solution for this? Unfortunately for me, I bought mine used and don't have the option of returning to Verizon for help. Thanks!
Ok guys, i dropped my phone in a case like 12" on carpet. It immediately shut off. If i charge it, it just goes through a loop of sorts, like if the battery was totally dead. I can get it to boot into recovery just fine, it just seems like its not holding a charge. Im thinking dead battery? Since its an S6, swapping isnt easy.
Any ideas? Anyone experienced this before? I searched pretty good, but to no avail. Thanks in advance.
Oh, and if i take it off the charger, immediately dies. Was at 50% when dropped.
Took it to Sprint service center. They swapped out a new battery, everything is good as new. Weird that a fall could damage the battery? Or maybe just came unplugged on the inside, and they conned me into a new batter?. Either way, fixed.
