[Q] Asian HOX Help - HTC One X

Hi,
I just joined the world of Android this week and bought my HOX, I bought it from eBay and it turns out it was imported from Vietnam so it's got Vietnamese firmware on, so i seem to get the Asian OTA releases. I figured If i root it I'd be able to flash it with English firmware/software but being new to it all im not so sure and don't want to lose my warranty.
Can anyone offer me some advice?
Thanks in advance
Edit - Looking a bit further into it, i think what im attempting to do is change from an Asian RUU to a European RUU.

You can't flash an RUU from a different region without super cid, which you can't get without s-off, which we don't have.

[q] help needed! Dhd overheated and need to return to stock.

My Desire HD overheated last night while charging.. I left my phone under my pillow when the alarm rang...and the alarm was ringing for a few hours(a few alarms) ....and when i woke up, my DHD was very hot...and then i quickly tried to cool it....i later tried to check whether everything was working and found out that everything except my phone ear piece isnt working(the thing which you listen to people talking during a call) i tried flashing a different rom, and it is still the same..
So now i want to return it to stock to send for warranty. I have a question how do i return to stock? I bought my phone without contract from an authorized distributor is Malaysia, Asia. As far as i learn from reading, there are a few stock RUU. I have the WWE RUU 1.32, but there is also an asian one..so which one do i need to get back to stock?
From one of the threads,
HTC WWE Stock RUUs - (World Wide English), for stock devices. These are RUUs to completely flash the device from the PC.
- If you are having trouble with them not connecting to your phone, try my guide here.

I didnt flash a radio before, but i remember S-OFF ing my DHD to get root. Please do help. My warranty has 1 more month period. January 8 my warranty is over. So please do help thanks.
Honestly, just get back to stock rom and perhaps unroot it will do. HTC workers in Malaysia arent that clever to check yr phone is S off or nt. they jz check the existance of superuser apps only

Ok, thanks. Argh, stock rom, as in the WWE RUU? Or do i need to go find the asian one? thats the thing actually bothers me.. Alright thanks alot...my phone decided to kill itself today. Gosh.
So
1. Return to stock ROM
2. Unroot
3. S-ON
That would do right?
Thanks Loads
Here is an extremely detailed guide by Yoshi_523 showing how to restore one's Desire HD back to Stock for warranty purposes. It's for Vodafone Australia but I figure you could do the same with your specific RUU. I wouldn't be too sure about the WWE RUU - if you got your phone unbranded then I guess go with the WWE RUU. Otherwise you might need a more specific branded one.

[Q] [4Qs] PJ46110 (S720b) (AU) vs PJ46100 (S720e) (UK)

Hi all,
I live in Australia and I bough the One X from UK, online, the model ID wasJ46100 and Model name:S720e, but I returned it with a full refund because it has the flickering screen issue.
I bought another one from a local store in Melbourne, Australia (outright) it was very obvious that the new one has no flickering issue, but the model ID isJ46110 and model name:S720b!
From the firmware thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551581) I notice that they are talking about the MIDJ4610000 while my MID isJ4611000 and because I unlocked the bootloader before saving the CID now I'm getting "none" as CID, so I *think* that I won't be able to upgrade my firmware until the S-OFF
None of the RUU here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604) works for me!
My questions:
Q1- Is there any way I can upgrade to 1.28 (or higher) without waiting for the S-OFF?
Q2- Is there any reason makes me return my PJ46110 and buy PJ46100? as I have 30-day return period.
Q3- How can I find the RUU that works for my device (any version)? Note: RUU extraction method didn't work
Q4- Is it OK to flash a custom ROM based on higher firmware than my device? For example: flashing ARHD 3.0.0 (which is 1.28-based on my 1.26 device) (This example works fine, but what about any future releases)
Note: I got the model ID from the back of the device, and model name from the box's cover, and MID from "fastboot getvar mid".
Out Of The Topic NOTE: I notice that there was FCC logo on the PJ46100 (UK model) but not in the PJ46110 (AU model)!!

A1 - You can't get OTA update without S-OFF even if you flash RUU because devices needs to have stock recovery and locked/re-locked bootloader. Also RUU is region dependent. So ANY RUU won't work until we have S-OFF.
A2 - IMO not a good idea to return the Aussie model and get the UK model unless you really have to and must get the OTA update.
A3 - I haven't seen any Optus or Vodafone RUU for Australia yet so you you will not get the 1.28 base via OTA until Optus or Vodafone releases them.
A4 - it is okay to flash custom ROM but you won't get any official updates until you bring your phone back to stock (stock recovery + re-locked bootloader and use RUU for your phone which is not out there yet if you have a Optus handset or Vodafone handset)
Having S-OFF we can make our device super CID which should work on any RUU once you have stock recovery and re-locked bootloader.

So as soon as we have the S-OFF my PJ46110 can be used exactly as PJ46100?
I asked because I have had very bad experience with Samsung Galaxy S II I9100G which does't accept the I9100 (without the G) ROMs, and I'm afraid that I'll face the same thing here

If it is OK to flash the custom ROMs without upgrading the firmware why the ROM developers always insist to upgrade the firmware before flashing?

Like I said with S-OFF we can get super CID which basically we can debrand our phones or convert our phones to use the RUU we want.
Devs say that so the phone won't have glitches like battery drain or lags. Basically if you use latest firmware means better performance.

I9100/i9100g is a different situation, they have different hardware inside and are effectively different phones.
I have the aus model too and am having no issues at all with custom rom (leedroid right now). The only major difference is that you wont get ota updates until optus / voda approve them. When we get super cid and soff you will be able to flash wwe ruu as soon as they are available.

Rru update

Hello chaps
Im a bit confused so im posting this in the hope that you fellas more experienced than me could maybe shed some light on my situation.
I have unlocked bootloader and custom recovery at moment and i have decided that although ICS is cool i want to flash some custom roms, so i decided to get my cid and check stock firmware to download appropriate ones in case i need them for serious recovering of the phone.
The problem is s-on, im aware that the rom has to match the cid and unlike my sensation xe i cant at present get supercid, however i was happy to see that cidgetter reported in the top left corner my cid was HTC__001.
Happy days, or so i thought, because my phone was an orange branded phone, unlocked, i assumed it would actually be an orange uk firmware i needed.
2 days later im struggling, so far ive attempted to install the following -
Orange Uk branded Ruu
HTC Europe (HTC_001) RUU
H3g UK RUU as im actually on 3 network
Nothing is working, so i reloaded cidgetter and examined the prop more closely, where i found a few instances of "WWE" which i see is actually ASIA, so i thought id try a ASIA rom, alas still nothing, it will not install.
What am i doing wrong, ive tried installing these htc roms on both custom and stock recovery, usb debugging is also on, everything checks out but i cannot get an RUU to install on my phone, having tried Europe, Asia and Uk im left wondering which RUU i do actually need to recover my phone in case of disasters, 2 days and my head is puddled with it all, i dont want to start customizing my phone until i know for sure that i can recover it.
Im not convinced that cidgetter is fully accurate, why would it report htc 001 or WWE when it was an orange uk phone, i have noticed theres also loads of info in there about carriers in italy, spain, germany and frankly, all over the world, but no indication whatsoever as to what the correct RRU recovery for the device would be.
P L E A S E H E L P
Because im ready to scream, there must be a way to determine what i need and i cant be bothered downloading every rru on filefactory because the site is so damn slow, takes an hour and half just get 1 of them.
Unless anyone has any links to a better server where they are stored like HTC maybe.
As a newbie to the htc im crying out for help here, and feedback would be most welcome and extremely appreciated.
Thanks.
Gaz
Did the phone have Orange branding/apps on it when you turned it on? If not, you have an unbranded handset so the x.xx.401.x RUUs are the only ones you need
Download the 1.29.401.7 RUU from the mirrors in the Shipped-ROMs thread
Why do you need it anyway? If the phone works then the only reason you need it is to revert to stock if you're sending it to HTC.
As a side note best way to flash them is:
1. Boot phone into HBOOT
2. Switch to FASTBOOT
3. Connect to PC
4. Run RUU
Thanks Eddy, top man
Its not that i want to use it, as i said its just in case of any mjor issue like soft brick or something whilst flashing a custom, just playing safe.
I think i have a feeling it could be my unlocked bootloader, i cant help thinking i may need to relock it to flash an RRu
Also correct, although my phone is orange originally, there is no orange logo on it and no orange related software on it, so im assuming you are correct in your findings and i shall give it a go.
Thanks button clicked, chhers for the info.
Yes, you need to relock the bootloader to flash an RUU on the One X
To confirm, when you first got the phone were there any Orange logos/apps on it when turning it on? If not, then you are unbranded
Update....
Relocked bootloader and followed your instruction
Got a bit further this time, it failed again this time at updating signature, the error report was -
Error 140 - bootloader version.
So i dont know what that error means exactlt but im still baffled by it, it wont flash the 401 rom either.
ok so this is what info i have -
Main cid - htc__001
endeavor_u_ics_40
ro.aa.rid - 1467
skulist - 401
bootloader - 0.94.0000
ro.carrier - WWE
ro.cid - HTC__001
Can anyone shed any light on exactly what RUU i need???
Speaking of the whole s-on issue, is there no way to firstly backup the build.prop and then manually text edit the cid to alter it?
This may result in brick is my only concern.

[Q] Change HTC Rom from Asia to Australia?

Hello,
I recently got an HTC One X (from Kogan) but it's international stock, which means it comes with Asia firmware. Not a BIG deal, but i'd like to change the language from Singapore to Australia and remove over 15 carrier apps from Asia.
I updated the phone 3 times and am on version 2.17.707.3
I have no problem rooting, unlocking the bootloader (HTCDev.com) or installing clockwork recovery. I know how to do itt i just need the official HTC One X Australia ROM (Optus).
I want a ROM that is a genuine HTC one and that will be updated in the future.
Can anyone point me to one?
Thanks, Danz207
You can only install RUUs which match your CID number - in your case it's probably not OPTUS001 like mine since you bought it overseas.
About the bloatware, you can remove them using Titanium backup or ROM Cleaner, just remember to backup.

Can i still install an official rom though? Is just basically installing another rom over this one, i dont see the big deal?
Any custom rom defaults to WWE with all languages so why not get better performance out of IC or ARHD

Hi Dan I live in Sydney and Im thinking about getting the HOX from Kogan too. Can you please share your experience purchasing the phone from Kogan? I need a phone ASAP since I just cancelled my contract w Vodafone but I'm not sure if I should purchase the HOX from an online retailer (it's so much cheaper though) since the HOX has a lot of hardware issues (still prefer it over Samsung) and I dont want to have to send it overseas for 2 3 weeks if something happens (Im a smartphone addict xD). What a shame I need to get a phone quickly otherwise I would wait for the HOX+ hoping they will have fixed all the hardware related issues by then.

I was going to do the same
I also live in sydney, and purchase my hox from kogan, but I ended up getting it from eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au
it came with the taiwan bloatware. the preferred way I got rid of it was install ARHD.,
from memory the price was $50 cheaper then kogan, but that was because i had purchased from them before.

Flash RUU U.S firmware on EU device

Hi ,
I have HTC 10 Europe with rom version 1.95.401.4
I tring to flash on my HTC 10 another firmware ,stock U.S firmware from HTC sources,(just want to get most updates fast)
I have been noticed that i can not change firmware beetween regions .
There is way to flash U.S Unlocked/Developer firmware on my device?
if so how can i do that ?
Thanks
Search for the de-branding thread for instructions. Need to purchase s-off for 25$ to do it.
Basically you need to be S-OFF. That is the only way to do it, even then it can be a pain in the ass. If the reason you're doing it is to try and update to Nougat, you're better off just waiting for it tbh. The ROMS for US will be specific for the carriers and types of radios they use over there. Europe will have differences and it may create problems for you (unless you are already in the US and for some reason aquired a non-US phone). There may even be small hardware diffferences between model numbers (US is 2PS65000 I believe, Europe is 2PS620000). I am S-OFF, fully stock, de-branded, unlocked, and have HTC WWE CID (HTC__001) after changing it from my carrier previously (H3G__001).
It also goes without saying, US doesnt always get updates first.
