Email alerts on my phone not automatically show images - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I really need to find an answer or a solution to this.
So I have a security camera setup at my store and house... The DVR Recorder is set up to email alerts to me directly when it detects motion... if the DVR senses motion, I get 3 snap shots sent to me thru email directly to my phone (or whatever email address). The images are small CIF (240x320) resolution shots spaced 2 seconds apart - so 3 pics total.
OK: So when I had an iPhone, and I received an alert email - I would SEE the 3 attached photo's automatically when clicking the email message.
Now I'm using GS3 phone, and I get the email but the pictures are 3 separate attachments and I have to manually click on them to download and display - each one individually. VERY ANNOYING.
I've tried the default Gmail app, and Enhanced Email... Same result with both email apps. I'd like to get the email to automatically show the images - which are really small, and I don't understand why I need to manually download them to see them............
Anyone have any suggestions????????

Yeah of course. I think the issue is these are sent as ATTACHMENTS, not as embedded HTML images. What I need is an email app that will auto-download attachments, either all or maybe if I can say download attachments under a certain file size.

Have you tried some of the apps available at the store? Like K-9 or MailDroid. I haven't used em so cant say which might do what you need.
Something else you could try is grabbing the email app from another Samsung phone like the Note, or see if the plain Android stock email app could work.
Sorry I dont have a direct answer for you, but though id at least throw out some ideas.

Exchange Email Client

Thinking about getting the phone - but just have one question as this has been holding me back for a while now from getting an Android phone.
Could anyone confirm if folders and sub folders for TouchWiz email Exchange client are all on one level or have a tiered structure as per Outlook ie:
Folder 1
¦
------ Sub Folder 1
Thanks.
That woul be a very important information for me too!
Looking forward to detailed answers!
TIA
+1
Thanks!
I can't confirm the folder structure but can confirm that Activesync works.
Thanks!
Could you confirm some other things, too?
- bi-directional contacts sync
- bi-directional calendar sync
- bi-directional sync of recurring appointments
- html mails
- confirming appointments
Hmmm. Folder structure depends on the view you look at it in. It shows all my Exchange folders in a list in the main view (there's a quick dropdown to change folder) but in folder view, it shows in hierarchy.
Bi-directional contacts and calendar have been working since the original SGS and all synced to my phone fine. Not sure about recurring appointments but it syncs all of mine from Exchange to the phone fine. HTML mail works fine too (would be a bit ****ed up if it didn't!). Never tried confirming appointments so I can't say anything about that.

Thanks for the information. That's interesting because the default Android email client on 2.3.3 does not seem to include an option for folder viewing hierarchical folders...
I'm on my first full day so can report on this a bit now.
I'm trying out the stock client with an ES 2010 server. Some nice surprises:
- Full folder structure accessible
- Server search
- Task sync (!)
- Decent interface (don't love the dark background for the email list...)
- Syncs faster than my Atrix running Froyo
- Nice little widget icon showing unread emails
- it's got a crazy 2-pane inbox view w/preview when in landscape mode (think tablet view or desktop Outlook) - this is really cool!
- Out of office setting
On the downside, the email list widget sucks - it doesn't scroll and only shows 3 most recent (not even unread) emails so that's a bit of a disappointment. Also the calendar widgets are nice but they're too large and not resizable. Thankfully Calwidget works fine.
I'm going to try to live with it. I have a paid TD license and I had gotten used to their widgets on my Atrix, but I suspect stock is more battery friendly.
Thanks for the info. Would you mind posting some screenshots of the email client. I used Froyo, and I can't even do a search on my emails. I ended up using TD as well. Do we have search now? Is there pinch to zoom on emails? If not, can we resize font size? and How? sorry too many questions.
Thanks in advance.
I use sgs2 as my primary business phone., exchange 2010 support is the best ever, on windows mobile or android.

Here you go...I've been using it for a few days now and NO need to employ TD which is saying a lot for a native Exchange client! The only thing missing is Notes sync which I can live without (don't change notes that often and can just drag them into Evernote).
The client actually blows me away...to answer your question, we have search as you'll see in the screenshots, as well as pinch to zoom, font resizing in both the Inbox view as well as the message body. Let me know if you have any other q's.

I don't need to sync multiple exchange-accounts, but I have several calendars in one single exchange-account.
Is it possible to sync all calendars, that are present in my exchange-account, or can I only sync one?

No options there for the "calendar folders" so I don't think so. Then again, I don't have any sub-folders so I can't be 100% sure.

Actually I do not work with sub-folders in calendars, but I have several calendars in Outlook under the main-folder, that are synced to exchange.
Can you try to add a new calendar in outlook and see if you can sync that second calendar to the phone via exchange?

One more question. From the screenshot, I can see the search is "search server" and not local search.. is that true, because if so, then I need internet service to search and also it would be slower.
Thanks again

Is there anyway to make my contact pictures have better quality?

I thought this problem would be fixed in ICS, but I guess it has not yet been fixed. I installed SyncMyPix and that hasn't worked. I turned off auto sync contacts and tried SMP again and still I got huge blurry pics. Is there anything I can do about this problem?
Put the high res files on your phone and assign them to contacts there. It's annoying, but it's the only way ivy gotten it to wprk.

That's way too much work for all my contacts. Also, I would like to have their latest photos from Facebook and what not.
I think we'll be waiting for FB to update their app to properly support the People API... sigh.
i find that, if your people has links to google+ (with the same name that it has tag it automatically), you will still need to go into people app for it to cache a High Resolution photo first, before it will work on the dialler.

Considering that they didn't want to use the Android API for contact sync before I wouldn't be surprised if they don't enable that feature for a long time. They never used the normal API which is why it was blocked.
for fb , i use friendcaster.. it has high res sync capability
I've still found that Friendcaster's syncing doesn't give pictures of a truly decent resolution, they're just a little less blurry than usual.
Keep in mind the high-res contacts =256x256 on a 1280x720 screen so I don't thinks they're ever going to look crystal clear.
I read this a while back. Make a phone only contact with a picture of the party. Now link that contact with the synced contact. Now choose to use the phone only contact picture. Not sure if that works.
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda premium
Yea Facebook reduces the contact icons. So you'll never get a REAL HD image from Facebook unless you actually grab some of their uploaded pictures from their photo album... but it will require more work to get it right.
Facebook Sync, IMO, is good and bad. I LOVE the feature as it quickly populates my contacts with images. I HATE it because sometimes I look for the images through a list, and if it changes often, can make it harder. Sorta like theming your App Drawer.
Typically what I do is Sync with my social media to get the majority of contacts synced up. But I usually manually add photos of my most popular contacts with ones I've taken with my phone's camera.
Manual contact photos sync with Google along with your contacts... so you really only have to do it once.
Anyone know to who or where we can request an update of Google Contacts? Asking to increase the resolution to 256x256. Same resolution as supported by ICS.
Or an option to not sync photo. That's also ok.

Does anyone dislike the Email on the SGIII as much as I do?

Or is it just me? Every email I open that has pictures or graphics I have to scroll to the bottom and click on "Load More Details".
I really like the email in the Nexus Roms or the CMxx Roms - they ask at the TOP if you want to show pictures and then if you want them to be shown all the time. That is what I would like to have. Any idea where/how one could accomplish this?
I have tried virtually all of the email clients in the Play Store and really do not care for them fro one reason or another. I even have $16-17 invested in a few of them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ted
I purposely use Gmail for everything. Just goes hand in hand with android. I actually freeze email and exchange apk.
Have you tried enhanced email from market?

If you use Gmail, you can just press "show pictures" at the top if it doesn't show them by default. It will remember your preference for that person.
Gmail also has a better theme and is generally better than than most, if not all, email clients.
If you don't use a google account for email, I believe you can set google up so it receives email from a certain address and you can send outgoing email from that address.
My biggest complaint is that Samsung put all of the controls (reply, forward, etc) at the top of the screen which makes one hand operation a challenge. I have big hands and still have trouble reaching the controls. I replaced Samsung email/exchange with the stock ICS versions on my E4GT for the same reason. I might do the same on this one as soon as I flash a custom ROM.

It's sad that it's as bad as it is, since the stock app for the SGS2 was so nice.
also, it doesn't play well with Office 365
That's the issue I'm having with the stock app too. Loading details for pics and graphics is crazy. Their should a option to autoload or the link to load should be at the top of the email
On all of my android phones I was never a fan of the stock email app when getting my work email. I then found out of about Touchdown. Its a great app to get exchange emails on.
I do like using the gmail app though.

Forward with files checked, show images checked, auto download attach on wifi checked, size to recieve all, (thats an exchange account my gmail account is set to 100 kb) those are the only important settings if your using a pop3 account that might be why your having an issue. Gmail is really good especially since its push email to our phones but it lacks the ability to embed images which i have to use the stock email app for work account anyways and id rather be able to embed images than have push. Thats just my preference.

[request] zoom out in html emails

As much as I would love to switch to ICS and start tinkering with it and releasing theming mods, I just can't switch when all the ICS/CM10-based roms have for whatever reason prevented fully zooming out in emails, which worked just fine in gingerbread. Regardless of whichever email app used, from stock to touchdown to maildroid to k-9, you simply cannot zoom out completely, and are forced to pan around oversized emails, scrolling left to right just to see large images, which is a total dealbreaker for me given I NEED to be able to zoom out sufficiently for work emails. If any brilliant human being can figure out how to mod ICS or CM10-based roms or knows of an email app that has some kind of "email overview" feature, please let me know and I would LOVE to donate, cause I am DYING to start tweaking the new roms and making them pretty =)

SON OF A!!!
I was so excited and so embarassed to discover the stock lg email DOES let you zoom out entirely (you were absolutely right!), and then MORTIFIED to discover it DOESN'T HAVE PUSH!?!?! Are you kidding me? An email app that doesn't have push in 2012??
Okay, so unfortunately I have to clarify...
an email app that lets you zoom out completely AND has push
Yo, konrad, quick question since I'm not on an LG ROM. Are you using the automatic configuration in the LG email app? If so, that's wrong. You need to do a manual setup, use the Microsoft exchange option, and set it up like an iPhone would in order to get push. Just search for "gmail exchange" on Google for the settings.

While we're on the subject of the LG email app, I really would kind of like to try using it in CM9/10 if anyone is able to put up the .apk (dunno if it needs to be resigned or anything). I too would really like pinch to zoom out lol.
just to add some information on the subject: the android default email client NOW is able to zoom out until the message will fit on the screen, and not any further. to do that ou have to go to Settings, General Settins, Automatic Adjust Messages. this will make the emails to open with the content adjusted by it's width. then you can zoom-in freely and zoom-out until the starting zoom position. It seems that ICS does not let we zoom out any further than the starting zoom level. If other email clients could open the messages with the "zoomed-out" view this issue would be solved.

Any way to get the apk w/ installer for the latest email app with the zoom fixed?

Corporate Email - No Inline Images

I know this has been an issue for a while, but I don't see a resolution posted anywhere.
Does anyone know if the issue has been fixed with Images embedded in the body of emails not showing on the Stock Email App (This is primarily used with Corporate/Exchange emails)???

Check the option "automatically download attachments using WiFi" then when you are on WiFi the images will be displayed in the email body but if you are on your phones data then they are separate as attachments.
