Overclock Kernel + Loop Device - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
Can anyone make a kernel that lets you overclock to 1.9ghz and gets you loop devices. If needed, use 1.8 for stable.
Thx.
Also, THIS BETTER WORK WITH THE ATT ONE COMMING OUT SOON!

Most Exynos 4412 cpu`s are only stable up to 1704Mhz, most crash at 1800 Mhz mate. It is allready blazing fast at 1600 Mhz :silly:

Maybe with Note 2 is possible, im sure if samsung release a 1.6 ghz exynos 4412 its for they increase the margin of clocks a few more than S3 in the chip manufacturing process

It is exactly the same cpu as the S3 has afaik, and most S3 cpu`s crash at 1800 Mhz. The stock speed is fast enough for me as i overclocked the S3 to 1600 Mhz and it was allready fast imo. But we`ll see, still have to get my GN2 tuesday

Try the Tegrak Overclock module from the Play Store. Surely it's compatible with the Note 2. Works well with my GS3.

Supposedly it's a revision 2 chip in the N2.
Running all day long with 1.8 @ 1.275 and it's ROCK SOLID, and no extra heat for now!
Also running with nice undervolt and all freqs are stable. The device was already blazing fast, and I wasn't going to bother, but it was the easiest OC transition ever in my OC life, with first AndreiLux kernel for N2 ...

lol quad core cpu with 1.6ghz and 2gb rams is more than enough, why are you OC'ing?

Couldn't have said it any better.

I undeclocked it too 1.2 and it is still blazingly fast...

The Note 2 has a new revision of the CPU with higher yields. It should achieve higher clocks on the same voltage, or lower voltage on the same clocks. It is for example already voltaged a bit lower across the board than the S3.

I use Perseus Kernel from AndreiLux, you can find this Kernel >HERE<
my Note runs at 1,9 Ghz without problems

I'll make my own...
If I do achive 2, I'll be happy. Though I have an 1.8 quad mba, the mba is much better cuz i hav turbo boost to 2.9
But the oc will let me play TF2 and GMOD so i'll be happy.

Can Galaxy Nexus be overclocked to more than 1350MHz?

Hey,
So since the TI OMAP 4460 is actually meant to be clocked at 1.5GHz but Google decided to underclock it to 1.2GHz, Is there a way to overclock it to its maximum?
I've been looking at almost all Kernels at the development section but non of them states that the processor is overclocked to anything over 1350MHz.. which is the top right now..

I believe I read somewhere that they clocked it down to 1200 because they struggled getting it stable at 1500, that being said it is VERY individual how much you can overclock the CPU before it becomes unstable.

The processor is rated at 1.5Ghz.. that doesn't mean it is stable at 1.5Ghz for the masses.

Will there be overclocking gpu support soon?

I was wondering if it will be possible to overclock the gpu , because my cpu of my htc one v seems to be insanely good , even ran the max 2ghz for few hours , then restarted when i moved the app the storage card, so could be just sd card bug or something , but i switched it back to 1.8ghz(245mhz idle) , anyway my quadrant score is quite low because of the gpu , because i hit 4,1k cpu score at 2ghz , and have seen other phones being able to overclock the gpu.
Hope to see the gpu overclock able soon, will make this phone even better

My can withstand the 2ghz constantly without overheat, but that is the cpu. The gpu is a different story.

This is a known issue with the Titanium kernel (KISS has e.g. the same values here as stock)
you can read about it in the kernel thread for this kernel
But I doubt that those benchmarks values make a noticable difference in daily usage
So if you need OC more then 1.5GHz just stay with Titanium.
If you think that I/O values will make your device slower use KISS kernel
Regards
max
PS: Regarding the original question
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710850
There you can read all about OCing the GPU
Common point at the end. They didnt found a way to do it
thanx for the reply, was just wondering about score , phone it selfs seems very fast and have no problems with it
ok so the gpu scales with cpu overclock then , must say ashalpt 6 plays very nicely

that guy did overclock hes gpu with 220 chip , maybe new ones can be overclocked only.

i am pretty sure i saw an app called "Dual" something on the LG P990 threads and it had the option to overclock the gpu*

How is the qualcomm sanpdragon s3 new
The new ones are Adreno 420, 330, 320, 305 etc.
on Snapdragon 400, 800, 600, s4 pro, other ones I forgot (805 for adreno 420?)

[Q] [POLL-TYPE]Poll about overclock

Hey everyone,
Was just wondering, what is your Maximum overclock on your Note II. At what voltage?
1.8GHz for daily usage at 1250mv

Latest antutu 22570.

Don't actually overclock, don't really need it so far
Overclocking Benefits
Wow, 1.86 GHz. Great. Nice low voltage too!
I run at 1.92 GHz, 1350 mV (Sometimes I can get 1325 mV, but I overclocked the GPU. It seems if the GPU is faster the processor needs more voltage?)
Latest Antutu Score: 25545, beating the stock S IV

Yep! All clocks are undervolted, each step decrease 25 mV from previous. I found this to give best benchmark and stability!
If you know of any clocks I can decrease further, please share.
Also, does anybody know if 2000 MHz is possible? I heard overclocking should be between 10-20% increase otherwise the CPU could malfunction (device freeze, SOD, ect) Now, 1600 MHz + 20% = 1920 MHz so I don't think any higher is possible.... But anything is possible on XDA/Android!
Tried your setting hitman but best antutu I could get was 23049.

Ok. What ROM are you using? I'm running CM 10.2
Also, governor to Pegasusq. I customised that to give best performance I can get.
And, what kernel are you using? I'm using Devil Kernel 0.35 or something (the latest devil kernel)
Use TricksterMod to overlook GPU to 800 MHz, you'll need extra volts.
Download all in one toolbox from Play, or Clean Master. Run this before running Antutu
Using TricksterMod, make sure CPU temp is below 30 Degrees Celsius.

By default, yes. However I used TricksterMod to upgrade it to a Snapdragon 800. The device is absolutely flying now :good:
You can't "upgrate" S600 to and S800 , the S800 is a newer cheap - uses a newer Krait 400 cores which are more optimized and power efficient and on top of that it has a newer more powerful gpu - adreno 330 vs 320 on the S600/S4 Pro , also the S800 has a newer DSP embedded so it can decode 4K content.
clock to clock the S800 would be faster, and as the S600 wasn't design to run at 2.26GHz (highest bin of the S600 is 1.9GHz on the S4 , then the 1.7GHz on the HTC One, and finaly there is the Nexus 7 Which uses underclocked S600 with different branding) the S800 would be more power efficient .

I can't seem to understand the purpose of overclocking the flo. It's fast and smooth any way that you put it. Not to mention the potential damage that you can do to your precious tablets (especially from the extreme heat of the overclocked cpu & gpu combo).

My idea exactly. Hence I underclocked the CPU and GPU and don't notice any performance decrease.

Ofcourse it can because software controls it, you just specify different values i.e. voltage etc and it can work at hingher frequencies. The only real problems are battery usage (will be higher) and system (CPU) heating... thus possibly shortening CPU/component life....

TMSC created a 3.1 GHz Cortex A9 dual (the processor in note ii is a Quad version of the same chip) to test out the max speed achievable. No information what type of cooling was used for it. Can only assume that it will require heatsink & fan. For tablets & phones, 2 GHz is the max speed you will see with 28nm.

Vendors tend to slow upgrade the clock as it gives them more room to add every small jump as a new device. You as a customer are obleged to buy any new devices as quick as possible to sustain revenues.

What "sms2000" said, plus heat, battery usage, stability.... your device might be able to work at 2Ghz but i.e. not for 3 years but only 2 years....
