[Q] Sharing pictures from the gallery via email - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can suggest an solution to an issue I am having with my Galaxy note 2 when I try and share a picture directly from the Gallery.....when you are viewing a picture and hit the share button I am given 6 options only (bluetooth, ChatON, G Drive, Dropbox, Email and Facebook)....but no option for sharing via Gmail.....is this normal for a Samsung phone?? I'm more used to Google Nexus handsets, and they certainly have a Gmail option available in the share list.......I'm surprised I cant find this on a Samsung, as the OS is Google's own OS...albeit with the Samsung TouchWiz interface on top.
Any thoughts/ideas??
Thanks!

Gallery 3d with access to Picasa public albums.

I would like to ask to community to help out in a request to a developer.
Some of you many not know that the 3d Gallery app on our phones is NOT present in all 2.1+ android devices. While the Gallery itself maybe present access to Picasa is missing in some Sense based roms.
There is a fix for this being developed and is available in the market under the name, 3D Gallery. Here is where I would like you help.
At present the dev is doing nothing more then trying to make a clone of the gallery. He has just added Picasa access, but you will need to give the app your log-in details. This is not something that many users are willing to do as Picasa generally speaking is tied to the users main account.
What I would like to see is the dev give access to Picasa public galleries through username alone along with the ability for full access if both user and pass are given. Granted you will not be able to upload if user and pass are not given, but thats not really a big deal.
I think the one thing Google overlooked with the 3d Gallery was the ability to view albums you mark as favorites in your account. This app has the ability to give us this function, we just need to let the dev know that we want it.
This would be the PERFECT way to share wallpaper with each other, without the need to actually take up any storage on the phone itself.
I know Im not the only one that wants this, so please help out.
Send a copy of the following petition to the devs email address.
Email: support at flikie dot com
Copy petition below
I fully support the petition to add access to selected Picasa public albums inside of your 3D Gallery app. Access to said galleries should be entered through username alone and/or full web address.
Adding the ability to view public galleries gives us the perfect method to share wallpaper in a way that does not require using the phones storage.
Thank you for considering our request.

I have... in fact I have tried every gallery that allows access to Picasa in the market, it does allow for adding Picasa public albums, Ill give Floating Image that. However I am not really a big fan of the program. I just dont like the browsing method for it and there is no way to crop the images when selected for wallpaper. To bad too, its photo viewing and rotation are great.

Email alerts on my phone not automatically show images

I really need to find an answer or a solution to this.
So I have a security camera setup at my store and house... The DVR Recorder is set up to email alerts to me directly when it detects motion... if the DVR senses motion, I get 3 snap shots sent to me thru email directly to my phone (or whatever email address). The images are small CIF (240x320) resolution shots spaced 2 seconds apart - so 3 pics total.
OK: So when I had an iPhone, and I received an alert email - I would SEE the 3 attached photo's automatically when clicking the email message.
Now I'm using GS3 phone, and I get the email but the pictures are 3 separate attachments and I have to manually click on them to download and display - each one individually. VERY ANNOYING.
I've tried the default Gmail app, and Enhanced Email... Same result with both email apps. I'd like to get the email to automatically show the images - which are really small, and I don't understand why I need to manually download them to see them............
Anyone have any suggestions????????

Yeah of course. I think the issue is these are sent as ATTACHMENTS, not as embedded HTML images. What I need is an email app that will auto-download attachments, either all or maybe if I can say download attachments under a certain file size.
Have you tried some of the apps available at the store? Like K-9 or MailDroid. I haven't used em so cant say which might do what you need.
Something else you could try is grabbing the email app from another Samsung phone like the Note, or see if the plain Android stock email app could work.
Sorry I dont have a direct answer for you, but though id at least throw out some ideas.

Direct save?

New to android, why don't apps like Facebook and twitter have direct save for pictures the way iOS does?
Because Google plus uploads video and pictures once taken.
I think he means why cant we save images from Facebook to the device.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
You can't save directly to the device however if you open the picture in facebook app there are these three little dots for options (I think you know what I mean). Then go to Share and then you can share the picture with picasa, g+ or google drive. Depending on your setup / sync routine saving to picasa / google drive should be almost the same as saving to to your device directly. Only difference is that the picture is saved in your drive folder instead of Pictures or downloads or whereever you intended to store the downloaded files. Hope this helps!
Will try that on Fb. Anyway to do on Twitter? I know about screenshots but just seems iOS made doing this easier
I dont use twitter myself but if there is a possibilty to display images fullscreen it should work the exact same way

Oh my bad Lol. Yea on the Facebook app their is no save to device but what you can do and I do this is share the photo via text and then save it. Hit the three little dots> share> messages. Then send it to yourself and your good to go.
install any 4star and above rated download manager and then share to it.

That's the symbol for your Picasa Web album. It's most likely synced under accounts>google. All of those pics are saved in your Google Picasa account.

If you have a Google account then you automatically have a Picasa account. They are linked together. Are you using Google +?

Yea, most likely you have instant upload turned on. I have the same setup. If you don't want to see them in your gallery you can open the gallery, hit menu, and then choose 'view by'

I believe you clear data for Gallery and make sure that Picasa sync is unchecked in your Google Account settings and that gets rid of it. I've done it myself, it doesn't delete pictures only that Picasa album
Edit: You can disable Gallery first too if you want, it might be better. I don't think I did

Samsung Gallery OneDrive integration

When the Note 10 and Note 10+ were unveiled, they described OneDrive integration that would allow us to view our OneDrive pictures within the Gallery app itself. I'd like this as I find the OneDrive app itself to be lacking as a picture viewer. Plus, I'd assume that in the Gallery app, viewing the picture library would extend to being able to edit the pictures too, similar to how we can with local pictures.
Because I lean towards OneDrive, this was a pretty significant reason that I purchased the Note 10+, as I was on the fence between it and a couple other phones.
When I spoke to Samsung, they indicated that this feature was not available in Canada and had no ETA. But I've read a couple reviews of the phone where they indicated the feature wasn't there, but they admitted they might not be looking in the right place.
Because I'm located in Canada and was told this by Samsung, is there anyone in the US (or heck, Canada for that matter) that does have this integration? Is it just a setting I'm missing somewhere? I've also heard some rumblings that this might be unveiled in the fall, which I suppose would align with Android 10/OneUI 2.0 in fall/winter/spring?
That's all I have. Anyway, thought I'd run it past you guys 'n gals as you're all a lot more knowledgeable on this than I am.
Thanks so much!

Thanks, I'll experiment a little bit tonight. I followed your suggestion and now have my OneDrive integrated with My Files, though while it makes it easier to browse, it's not quite what I was expecting as the Gallery app still doesn't see them, though I'm at least able to tap in My Files and open in Gallery. My understanding (which could be completely out to lunch) was that Gallery would almost work the way Google Photos allows you to see and edit your files from Google's cloud storage. Again, I might be way out to lunch, and so if so, my bad.
So I was able to add my OneDrive account to the My Files app, and I can browse it there, but there is still no integration inside the Gallery app.
I did find this article on Samsung's Singapore web site that outlines how it's basically supposed to work:
https://www.samsung.com/sg/support/mobile-devices/onedrive-service-for-samsung-galaxy-note10/
It looks like I might just have to wait for my carrier (I presume) to release the next Maintenance Release for my Note 10+. No idea when that will be... ugh.
