T-Mobile Galaxy Note II CONFIRMED FOR Oct24 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I walked into a T-Mobile store and the store manager confirmed that tomorrow I will be able to buy my Galaxy Note 2. The store did not have a display model and they only recived 3units for sale. Two of them being white. However, the manager did place the grey model on hold for me for only $5 down. I'm ditching my Galaxy S3. Hope this helps the T-Mobile buyers...

$249.99 on T-Mobile? That must be value plan...the value plan you are buying the phone outright and paying per month. The classic plan is just like all of the other carriers. T-mobile is really pushing their value plans.

Value is better priced any way you look at it.

Phones purchased on value plans will also be blacklisted if you don't pay your bill. There was a big scam a while ago with that. That is why if you purchase a T-Mobile phone second hand, you should call T-mobile with the IMEI to make sure it wasn't purchased on a value plan.

ok so here is my deal. I have the t mobile galaxy s3 which i bought less than 2 weeks ago and now I want the note 2. I paid 470 for the white s3 as it was used but it was very well maintained (looks new). The reason ipaid so much for it was because im not in a contract. Im using simple mobile which basically im getting t-mobile service (yes even 4g 42.2) for 50 bucks a month (minus insurance but even under a contract never bothered as i always got good cases). What would you suggest i do? I was thinking of selling the S3 for 430ish USD and put the rest on a note (hopefully i wont have to pull any more than 100 from pocket). Let me know what do you suggest

I spoke to customer service and the off contract price is $700+. I really don't see a situation where you will be able to come $100 out of pocket and get the Note 2 without signing a contract...

No, I have a full upgrade available. But they didn't have the upgrade price today and told me the retail which was $700 plus tax.

ugh...$700 is a very hard pill to swallow. debating if i should wait it out or pick one up now if thats the price...im not due for an upgrade until next june.

I guess ill keep my S3. Price is a little too much. Thanks a lot though!

You could always sell the GS3 and come out a little more than $100 out of pocket. If you sell the GS3 for $450, you can get an international note on Ebay for around $550. Pop in a straight talk sim (either AT&T or T-mobile service) and pay $45 a month for unlimited everything.

TMO News
I've been obsessively monitoring the TMO News website for the last couple weeks (OK, maybe longer than that - I really want a Note 2). Anyway, they have the leaked pricing information and updates on availability, etc. http://www.tmonews.com/

I was thinking in doing that but the international one doesnt support 42.2 HSPA+ on t mobile. I dont want to go straight talk because it doesnt have the t mobile 3g frequencies (correct me if im wrong) but it definitely doesnt have the 42.2 radio. Right now im getting 18 down and 2 up on simple mobile. If i go at%t, i know my data will only go as far as 5mbps at its best. The radios are the issue. If the international supported 42.2mbps, ill definitely have no problem getting it

whats the deal with t-mobile not saying a word about the new galaxy nexus

It absolutely blows my mind every day that goes by and we dont hear anything about the hspa+ galaxy nexus being offered from tmo.
with the popularity of the nexus one and nexus s I find it soo hard to believe that the only way us tmo users can get one is to spend $700+ by shipping one overseas.
plus knowing that most reviewers recieved a galaxy nexus with a tmo simcard in it, the [email protected] review phones came with a tmo simcard. and tmo hasnt said one freaking word about it.
I have my money for it waiting but my patience is slipping away. bought a galaxy s 2 from tmo and loved it but got down to the last day of the 14 day return period and got spooked cause some speculation hit the news about the galaxy nexus hitting our shores. but that didnt happen so im fighting the urge to call one of the craigsL sellers and pick up another new galaxy s 2 for $380. just so disgested everytime i load up the tmonews site and nothing has been whispered about tmo dropped a rumered release date.
anyone else here feel this way?
was thinking the same thing, but i just ordered over the weekend.
i'm not going to wait for tmobile to carry it.
at least with the penta band, if att does indeed acquire tmobile, i'll be good to go.
I felt that way, then I just bought one. Verizon locked exclusivity for 60 days or so and it is only $50 more to buy it overseas than from T-Mobile outright. (If the phone is priced like Verizon's version)
The only downside is that nobody has screen protectors in my locality yet. The T-mobile reps sure loved seeing the phone though.

I wonder when Verizon's exclusivity clause ends for the GN?
I'm just guessing here, but with an exclusivity, I would think the other carriers are not allowed to go bragging that they'll have it in XX days.
Or maybe they aren't going to carry it at all. I've been with TMO for a while, and I get the feeling that they just dont give a **** anymore

T mobile won't advertise as it only benefits Verizon for now.
Shouldn't matter that much on T-Mobile anyway since you are given the option of not paying for a phone subsidy. So the only premium you end up paying is for importing it. If you're not on a value/even more plus plan, switch and just buy the phone.

Not really, even if T-Mobile is acquired by ATT, which it won't, ATT will keep the T-Mobile cell towers running, these towers are very expensive. I don't think current T-mobile users with 1700mhz ban phone will lose their HSPA over night in that scenario. Besides ATT have 3G and LTE plans, Nexus users can still use the 3G plan. I personally don't think its detrimental in the case you can't stream HD video of Justin Bebier at 20mbps with your Nexus, while 6mbps could get you by. Either way you are getting your chains yanked since you don't save any money opting for the slower 3G speed from their data plan.

T-mobile newbie feeling a bit confused

Ok today I decided to take T-mobile for a 14 day ride, thanks to it's new truly unlimited plan and test out the service at my home and at work.
I sign up for something called a value plan where I put down $149.99 for the GS3 and im being charged in installments of $20 for the remainder balance of the phone, which was $549.99. I'm fine with that cause my total bill will be at or around the same I paid over at sprint.
Now this is where I get confused. If I go to the other carriers I would normally just pay the 149 dollars and pick a plan and I'll be committed for the 2 years.
Why is it that Tmobile goes about it this way? My other option was to pay something like $300 for the phone and sign up for a more expensive plan.
The way they lay out their plans are confusing. Did I go about it the best way? Am I getting the better deal?
I figure buy now ask questions later. After all I have 14 days to figure it all out.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
The value plan is for those customers that already own a phone outright or those that are willing to pay full retail for the phone. They are nice enough to allow you to make payments on the phone instead of having to pay nearly 700 outright. They reward you for this by offering their plans at a cheaper price. If you want to take advantage of the cheaper phone because of the subsidy then you can not get the value plan and you pay a higher monthly fee for service. I hope you are understanding this.
For me I always buy my phone outright so I use the value plan. Can't beat $70 a month for unlimited everything.
Well said. Also, if you happen upon some extra cash while on the value plan, you can pay for your phone in full and knock off the extra $20 every month like I did.
Once i sell my Sprint GS3, I'll pay off the phone.

I came from sprint too and have had tmo for 2 months. Depending on where you get the phone but value plans are usually the better plan not only because your monthly is cheaper compared to classic plans ($20 more a month) but value plans have the benefit of having additional options such as when you add data to your plan. For example the unlimited plan is $20 for value members but I believe its $30 for classic members. So as long as youre sure you got the value plan then you've made the right choice...on that part anyway.
Here's where you couldve saved more. If you bought your phone from Costco, the phone retails for $389 so you pay for that out right and stay with value plans. Classic plans you pay $20 more a month ($84.99/month) but you get the phone cheaper. Kinda weird though but it seems you got it the other way around.

Service (data speeds) so far been great at home. Getting 14 up and 2 down. The next test is at work tonight. Its only been a few hours and im happy so far. I intend to test drive T-Mobil the full 14 days before making my decision to keep it or not.
As far as sprint goes, I really couldn't complain about the voice service. 3G data on the other hand that's another issue. Being from the Boston market we are on Sprints initial LTE roll out. My phone actually picked up LTE for a few minutes while on the highway, but who knows when the actual roll out will take place. Im impatient so here I am.

It depends on how long you keep your phones. With other carriers they assume you'll upgrade every x years so they build that subsidy into your price. The crappy part is that the subsidy never goes away. With the value plan you get a no interest loan or get to bring your own phone and get a killer price. The only downside is if you're a new customer and after a few months want to cancel you have to pay the ETF plus the balance you owe on your phone. It's a good way to make cancelling super expensive.

Good question. I think initially you cant get walk out of Costco with the phone unless you sign up for a 2 yr plan even if you buy the phone for the retail $389. BUT....when I called after buying the phone and asked if I decided to cancel my plan would I have to return the phone. They said its up to me but I dont have to return it if I didnt want to.

If you buy a phone on contract you just have to pay your ETF. You don't return the phone, you bought it. There is no way Costco is selling the phone for $389 retail. That's a contract price.

Prepaid Note II No Longer Sold on T-Mobile's Website

Been trying to purchase a Note II in recent days. T-Mobile's website no longer displays the Pre-Paid Note 2 on their No Contract web page. Any idea?
You mean the value plan? I walked into a store, bought the phone with a value plan. Which is really a two year contact, in which they give you $200 rebate after getting an unlimited everything plan. I thought it was completely off contract but no.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
When you buy the Note 2 with "No Annual Contract" you pay full price for the device, $649.99 dollars, this looks to be not appearing on T-Mobile's site anymore as per what the OP said
Yeah I am wondering if it was sold out our back order?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
If it was on back order you would still be able to place an order. The item would still show In Stock even though the phone is back ordered. There is no difference between prepaid and contract Note 2 phones. They are both sold in the same box sets. If it was sold out, the contract Note 2 should also be sold out. This is odd.

I did notice this a couple days ago & thought it odd http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35493033&postcount=82 as I actually considered getting another..
Even with a 64 GB card, I would have preferred to pay an extra $50 for 32GB or $100 for 64 GB internal memory. I was quite annoyed with low memory warnings on my EVO & never wanted to see them again on my upgrade but I quickly did. Clearing dropbox cache luckily got me out of that jam but not looking forward to seeing such notifications in the future...
Anyone find out more on this, post back, -Happy 2013:highfive::good:
Uhm... that'll just be buying it at retail price. Just go to a store to get it and buy a prepaid sim. Simple.

Possible Galaxy S4 for $579.99 (no contract)

Ive been looking around for the best price before I bought the phone and I came upon costco's website, they list the retail price as $579.99 which is the lowest Ive come across. However theres a slight problem. They wont let you order it at that price, they want you to go with the $199 contract deal.
However, you may be able to price match this through best buy or another store once they get the phones in stock..
Funny - I saw that when I ordered it with contract extensive for $200. Maybe call Costco and raise a stink.
It could partially be due to them not having them yet but no excuse

If you search these forums there is a thread from 2 years ago and a costco manager says that it can be done but they almost always refuse because they make commission on the contract. Heres the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044213&page=2 the users name is iceshark.
Anyways if that route doesnt work for you, then like I said you can try getting another store to price match costco.
so expensive now
Its preorder and not outright buy. They are also asking for a 2 year contract (which I believe they need to update their site).

Unfortunately those costco wireless stores are managed by another company and could care less about loyalty to costco or pleasing their members. Yes I said "pleasing their members", you are free to LOL.
T-Mobile store is $629
Stopped in at the T-Mobile store near me today, mentioned I am prepaid and asked how much for the S4. He thought the S4 was $649, then looked it up and current price is $629 for the S4. He said they were told they would get the S4 no later than the 15th. They just got a demo S4 in this morning and I got to play around with it a bit. I was sure put off by the mock-up version of the S4 I saw at BestBuy. The real deal is much nicer in person. Anyway, he didn't give me any grief for wanting to buy prepaid and said they would switch my ginormous SIM from the mytouch out for me for free. They already received TONS of accessories for it (mostly cases). He said 3 out of the last 4 days he has been getting in S4 accessories.
I know this is an S4 thread, but since many are still trying to decide between S4 and One, the One is $579. And this weekend only you can get it for $100 off of that (via HTC rebate). Only (BIG) problem is they have no idea when they are going to get One stock in.
Hopefully this was useful info to someone.:good:
im confused? you can get the phone from Tmobile for 150 down and then pay 20 bucks on your bill for 24 months with no contract extension (you do have to promise to pay the phone off, so i guess thats the same). i know yo uend up paying 650 for it, but isnt that easier on your wallet? especially if you are a current customer or someone who cant drop 600 bucks on a new phone?

You can only do that if on the value plan or due for upgrade. I already tried :/ I'm on classic and there's a fee for switching to the value plan so just easier to buy it for Me at least

im still on the classic 1000 family talk plan, pay 30 bucks for 4.5gb of data and 20 bucks for unlimited texts, just got a new iphone 5 and S4 and paid no migration fee and my plan and services are all the same as before. although i have 5 lines and i think maybe one of them was up for an upgrade...maybe 2 so i guess thats why
Does anyone think best buy would match this price??? They have heard so over priced at $730!!

It looks cheap. You save $ 100. Very good price!
I'd wait a month or two if you can. There's gouging going on in the market because of the stock availability. Plus, first run devices (I learned this on my last few phones) almost always have some hardware issues in large quantities - waiting allows for the hardware revisions to fix these. Amazon hasn't gotten theirs yet, to my knowledge.
Not to mention once the HTC One is available widely, the two will force each other down. The fact HTC is doing a $100 MIR to bring theirs down to $479, shows that the Galaxy S4 is going to have to drop quickly to compete.
Food for thought.

Ship jumping?

If you've been on the fence about jumping ship to Tmobile now may just be the best time. I'll be going into the store tomorrow and talking to a rep about some details (which I'll share here) .
The new promotion starts March 22. They'll pay up to $650 on your lease plus etf fees I believe.

I think it's $650 total per line for all fees.
There's no way I'll go back to T-Mobile. I barely had service.

i'm definitely jumping ship. With two lines (me and my wife), the bill will be cut in half if we unlock our current phones and move them over to TMO.
I believe you'll have to trade in your current device(s) if they pay off your handset fee(s).

i'm gonna check on this to be sure.
edit: you are right. oh well, still saves us money by switching.
I've also been thinking of jumping ship to T-Mobile. At&t hasn't done much for me so I'll see how T-Mobile is.

only concern is service but TMO has really increased their service quality (at least in my area) over the last few years.

Yah that's what I've been worried about it but that is true. If I remember correctly, t-mobile puts more bloatware on their phones though. I also heard details about the T-Mobile $650 buy off deal. T-Mobile pays off your lines from the other carrier but T-Mobile also buys off your phones for a certain price. Then you'll need to buy a phone off them for full retail price to cover all the costs. I don't believe it's completely true though since I didn't receive this from T-Mobile themselves

So what your telling me is, I can call up T-mobile and they will pay off my AT&T next contract in order for me to switch to them? Does this mean that I will have to buy a phone and plan or can I buy just a phone. I would buy a t-mobile note 4 to use on AT&T but I don't want to switch to a T-mobile phone and service plan. Basically what I am asking is weather or not I can use this program to get a t-mobile note 4 and not a t-mobile plan so I can still use AT&T service.
From how it was explained to me at the store.
They will pay off your device (up to $650 per line) and your contract if you have your att # ported to tmobile. Then you give them your att phone and buy a Tmobile phone and activate it on their service. They don't have contracts so it'll be month to month. I'm sure there is fine print about keeping a line of service open with them for a period of time.

Since T-Mo doesn't have contracts, when you buy a phone from them, you pay for the full price of the phone spread out over 20 (or maybe 24) months. If you terminate your service before that time is up, you're on the hook for the balance of those phone payments.
This is the same thing as if you bought a device through at&t Next. Since you are not on contract, you are not subject to an early termination fee, but you are responsible for whatever you haven't paid toward the cost of your phone.
I use to be an AT&T customer when I bought my last phone which was the note 3. Now I'm a happy customer of t-mobile rocking a note 4 with unlimited data for 2 phones for 100$. Life is good. Glad I moved to t-mobile when I did.

that $100 for 2 unlimited data lines is a great price. I know TMO extended that deal for 2 years but I just hope we wont get forced onto a different plan after 2 years.
Yup. They will probably find a way to force us into a different plan. But for now I'm enjoying it. On the note 3 with AT&T I was paying for 300mb of data. I thought if was super expensive. But now I'm happy with what I'm paying for.

I'd jump on T-mo too. But I need to wait a few months. Hopefully the deal still exists till then. Unlocked bootloaders, unlimited data, lower monthly payments, timely updates. Sounds good to me.

I still have one line of AT&T currently. I switched 7 lines over to Tmobile. I'm lucky to be in an area with better Tmobile coverage and data than AT&T. Only downside I have is wall penetration of Tmobiles 4g. Wifi calling takes care of it for the most part though and you get a free 4g hotspot or free wifi router depending on your preference. The ASUS Cellspot router is pretty damn good.
I like AT&T physical stores better too. Something about Tmobile stores around me makes me want to get a carry permit. Thank god for webstores.
