I have this in my tow truck and it works great. The only problem is you need 2 hands to insert or remove the phone. It holds the phone very tight.

I bought the imagnet car mount

The RAM has been the standard for motorcycle mounts for eyars. They are without a doubt the toughest mounts and must stable and sturdy. The X grip BARELY fits an SGS3 with extended battery

Gotta agree with the imagnet mount. I could never use a regular clamp style mount again!!!

What mount did you end up with? I saw suggestion of the same magnetic mount I've been considering but was curious if the magnet would still hold up considering the weight and overall bulk the hperion extended battery adds to the phone?
Cheers

I don't know if anyone got back to you, but I just purchased the iMagnet mount to test with the ZeroLemon 7000 mah battery, and it still works well! I have the rectangle metal plate inside the back between the battery and the TPU case, and it still sticks pretty solidly! It comes with two plates with adhesive, and one round plate without adhesive.
I also tested the hold strength with both a headphone cable and a charging cable attached, and the weight didn't affect performance. Both cables hung slack, so if you have to stretch your cable to the mount, YMMV.

Just posted this in another thread....
The nice thing about the CraigsDocks dock is that it's customizable. If you get the Galaxy S4, it will still fit. Heck, it even fits the NOTE II and smaller phones.
So you buy one dock for the next several years & phones.
I have one in my car and it's far & away the best dock I've ever used. You just have to make sure you tighten down the adjustments real good so it doesn't loosen up.
This will work with many extended batteries.

It's not cheap your right...but...
- it's indestructible
- will carry you through with all future devices
- hand made precision machined aluminum
- not only adjustable, but is low profile (as apposed to bulky)
- extremely reliable docking + power (audio too if you run an OTG cable)
- lastly, the craftsman is getting under paid for the effort and materials
(he deserves more really)

reply
yes for this you have to used the mobile power bank

I have a Laza Zip Grip from Amazon ~$10 and holds my Zerolemon 7000mAh
Excellent customer service too. I had an issue with the suction cup almost a year ago, they sent me a new one with their current suction cup design and haven't had any issues since.

Droid 2/droid 2 global case to fit car dock w/ extended battery?

We just got my husband a droid 2 global (same size as droid 2) and we're trying to find a case that will fit the car dock with the extended battery. I have a Droid X with the extended battery, and I was unable to find a case to fit it with the car dock (I ended up getting a Zagg skin). I expect that we'll have to same issue with his phone. The D2 extended battery doesn't add too much thickness, but enough to make a difference with cases. We haven't gotten the car dock yet since I want to get it for him for xmas, so I want to make sure that the case he gets will fit it. Has anyone had any luck with a case for the D2/D2G with the extended battery and car dock?

Might not be exactly what you are looking for, but have you seen the "Clingo" products from Allsop? They have a special sticky pad that any phone will stick to, and then you just peel he phone off - I got one in anticipation of me having a Milestone 2, and my wife having an iPhone 4. Obviously, without it being a true docking solution, you'd have to have a separate cable for charging purposes, but I'm tackling that with a USB cable terminating with a socket at the holder, and a two short cables (one for iPhone, and a micro USB for the Milestone).
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Steve.
Interesting, thanks for the idea!
I believe the standard VZ cases might fit the bill. The wife got a blue hardshell and it's slightly larger around the battery area and looks like its made to accept a larger battery and it fits nicely in the VZ car dock.
How do you feel about your X? I am debating dumping the D2 for the X. I have another week to decide.

Yes, it works quite nicely, fits the extended battery bump, and a removable plastic backing comes off of the car dock to allow room for the case. I love it!

As an addendum to this - I've found that if I attach a small magnet to the back of the Clingo (in the right place), this even engages the "Car Dock" user interface of the Milestone when I stick it to the holder.
Here is what I just found out.
I just took a Droid Car Dock from Verizon right out of the box. It was brand new. I removed the Droid2 insert and then tried to place my Droid2 Global with a VZW Case into the dock. It would not fit. The reason the insert comes out is so the dock can support the original droid with the included adapter. From my un-scientific test I just did, the VZW Car dock will not work with a case on it.

It depends on the case my rubbery Droid 2 case will only fit if I squeeze it in (because the rubber grips the plastic). But hard cases that aren't too big should fit (but not with the extending battery unless there is a specific case for the dock.)

Looking for a windshield mount for my truck

I know there a few threads about windshield mounts but none of them have what I'm looking for. I am looking for a windshield mount for my 2000 Ram 1500. I want it to mount on the BOTTOM on the windshield and come to the edge of the dash so it will need to be fairly long. I switch between the Seidio Innocase II surface and the Seidio 3500mah extended battery so I need something that will accommodate both of those. I also need it to switch between portrait and landscape. The Kensington windshield mount for the Iphone looks like it would be great but it doesn't look like it will allow me to use my extended battery.
What have you guys found that might work for what I need?

Mountek MT5000
I bought this after finding a thread about it on another forum. Best accessory ever. Extremely quick and easy to install, rotates portrait/landscape ... can't complain about anything. It uses your CD slot - you just put it in the opening and clamp it down.
It's actually started to become a problem because I'm constantly distracted while driving by my cellphone now. It's just right there up in my face, gorgeous and begging to be played with.
Can't post the link since I'm new here ... but you can Google it easily.
I like the Clingo mount so much, I am going to mod the Sedio Active Innocase I have to make it work with it (smooth.velvty doesn't stick to Clingo).

I've got a cheap Arkon universal mount I use in my car. Works great with my ballistics case or naked.
Dunno how long it is but I have am ikd z car and its mounted to the bottom of my windshield and comes to the dash edge. Probably 6in or more. It was tricky too cause my car has a high rake angle and I wanted it mounted so it wouldn't show Tue mount at all in videos. It does block half the camera but it clamps hard enough that you can scoot it up and get the camera free.

Because the seidio one is $50! Thats crazy for a windshield mount. I found one at bestbuy yesterday its by rocketfish and made for the iphone but it works with our phone to. It doesn't come to the edge of the dash but it will work.

Excellent cheap sync cradle for the T-989

I got 2 of these off eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SAMSUNG...159056?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f0f089010
They are meant for the "standard" (AT&T or International) GS2's but it fits my new T-989 perfectly even with the DIZTRONIC TPU case on it. It probably fits most any device with a bottom micro-usb port on it. It comes with a removable rubber adapter for smaller devices. Not bad for $11 from China. Got it in about 10 days. It's a knockoff of the iPhone Universal base. No audio out ports. Just sync/charge.

Ok, but that is $29 more than $11 and most people don't need a $29 battery and NFC is useless for the most part. Plus it doesn't work with a case. Other than that, GOOD DEAL!!

Do you know if the USB transmits audio and if it has a back 3.55mm jack?
I ordered two of the Sinjimoru Sync stands. They're cool looking and lightweight. I removed the two lock tabs on the cable that make the cable stick in tighter. I'm planning on mounting them to something that won't lift up easily when I try to remove the phone. Overall, worth the $22.

The stand you are linking to doesn't charge or sync. That stand is just a holder with no connection directly to the phone. 2 totally different things with totally different purposes.

It fits my T989 with the Diztronics case no problem and will fit any similar "thinness" case. Snug, but no problem. I looked at the D30 case the other day and put them up against each other and while the left to right size are identical the front to back on the D30 is a bit more and my guess is it wouldn't fit. I was surprised when my Diztronic case fit but it did NOT need to be forced, just a slight push. For $11 you really can't go too wrong.

thanks I ordered one
They are still tight on the base, and would tip over if you pushed them. They're fairly stable, but it is kind of a pain to use one hand to hold the base grab the phone.
I did fix that today. I went out into the alley behind the loft and grabbed a brick. A few minutes after meeting the dremel and a little bit of epoxy, they're stable.
http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6233/6366960059_565143ef63_b.jpg
That's what the stands look like mounted to the brick, and in the Body Glove Diamond cases. I did play a little with some LEDs and lighting the bases up, since they're clear/black acrylic and the light travels through them. I'm going to hold off on that for now, but maybe soon.
to choking am a bit confuse on ur pic is that just a stand whit out the option of charging or a stand whit charger?
There is a cable that comes up behind the stand, and snaps into the stand. It charges, and I bet you could use the stand for other phones, but I can't guarantee that. I know it works fine with the T989.
Well thx for ur response ill see if i get my hands on one this on up coming week

ARKON Car Mount for SGS3 - I like it

Hi guys, I just picked up the ARKON SM515 mount for my GS3 and I love it. I think it was $16 on amazon. (link to their site http://www.arkon.com/Galaxy S III/slimgrip-galaxy-s-3-mini-windshield-car-mount.html ) They also have one called the AP515 which is for the iphone and its a few bucks cheaper but I just don't know if the GS3 will fit. The SM514 is similar to the 515 but it's a tiny bit bigger due to the adjustable arm (another great one to consider if you have the room for it) Anyway I mounted in a weird spot near my radio on the center of the dashboard. It can swivel in almost any direction which is cool and it's holding on tight. You can adjust the feet that hold the phone and they have rubber padding that way they won't scratch anything. I mounted mine using the included dashboard sticky pad. Here's a few pics taken with my bionic. (not the best camera)
p.s. In case any of you are wonder i'm using the Fosmon TPU + clear back case from amazon. It's around 6 bucks.
Deffinately thinking I'll order one. Been wanting a good mount for my car witht he new phone.
Arkon makes some FANTASTIC products - glad to know they didn't skimp out on the S3.

Taking the phone off the mount is pretty easy but this thing does hold it pretty firmly in place. I don't know how easy The 3M sticky pad will come off as it feels pretty solid on there. In my case my dash is plastic so it should come off pretty easily (but not too easy I hope) . You may want to contact their customer service and see what they say about it

For you guys that don't like windshield mounts, I've used the "sticky" Arkon mount. It works pretty well. I like the Mobile Grip, but if you use a big case like an otterbox, you'll probably be better off with the slim-grip, that thing will hold anything.

Car Mount recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a good car mount?
I just bought some cheesy magnetic thing from Amazon. Will be returning ASAP. Ideally, I think I'm looking for something that can clip into either the air vents or on the dash of my car. I realized there probably aren't many pixel specific accessories made yet, but maybe someone has had good success with a different model for an earlier phone?
Anyway just wondering what you all were planning on using.
I've been using a good magnetic mount for the CD slot in my car since the Nexus 5 days. I like the Koomus brand of them from Amazon.

I personally been using ProClip for a while. With my Nexus 6 I have a universal one since I have a thin case it slips in. Mounts are made per vehicle too.

I've had the third generation iOttie car mount for about a year, and it is excellent. It doesn't have a vent clip, but its suction cup mount is very sturdy. It even comes with a little pad you can use if your dash is textured.
I second the ProClip. You can get a custom mount for your vehicle, and select a separate holder. I've got a custom mount and a universal holder that can be adjusted if you switch phones.
I second the recommendations for iOttie mounts. I bought their wireless charging one back when I got my Galaxy S6, but I still use it with my Pixels because it is incredibly convenient to secure and remove the device. Excellent quality, usability, and adjustability, well worth the purchase.

Looks like a solid product! I have an '09 Kia Spectra and the dash doesn't look like an easy place to put a phone mount. I checked out their custom mount for my car and the only drawback I can see is it completely covers a vent (for a/c) which may or may not be an issues, I won't know until mounted but.. Any experience with that for you?
Yea on my prior vehicle I had it cover the vent. It was out far enough so it still put out air but it wasn't really directional as far as flow as before. Center ones I didn't care as much about being pointed at me to keep cool. It was a solid bracket though

I have an existing car mount for my S7 before I got the XL, it holds the phone in landscape and squeezes the sides. Little concerned that this may not be good for the squeeze sensors. Anyone think it could affect the sensors over time?

Can anyone recommend a good car mount?
I just bought some cheesy magnetic thing from Amazon. Will be returning ASAP. Ideally, I think I'm looking for something that can clip into either the air vents or on the dash of my car. I realized there probably aren't many pixel specific accessories made yet, but maybe someone has had good success with a different model for an earlier phone?
Anyway just wondering what you all were planning on using.

Another vote for Proclip's mounting solution. The universal large holder works fine with my Pixel 2 XL with a (Caseology Parallax) case. It's pricey but it works beautifully.
I just ordered the IOAuto magnet holder to use with Proclip's mounting bracket. I'm tired of sliding my phone into the holder. 1st world problems, I know.

How does that work exactly? Which iOttie did you buy, and how does it work with the ProClip bracket?

Oops, I meant IOAuto, not iOttie.

I bought the IOAuto Pro. It attaches to the vehicle mount that I purchased previously from Proclip. It comes with small circular metal disks that should be attached to your phone.
I hate the thought of using adhesive to stick anything on my phone so I'm going to try and place the disk between the phone and my TPU case. In think the magnet will still work fine.
Check out YouTube. I've seen a couple of videos of others installing it.

I like this simple magnetic holder:
Techmatte MagGrip Orbit Universal Air Vent Magnetic Car Mount Holder
It requires a thin metal plate which works fine if you use a TPU case or other case that's not too thick on the back; this way, it doesn't require any permanent application. I bought 3 for family members, and a friend got one after seeing mine. It's easy to mount, secure, very simple in design - it uses a steel ball that mounts to an air vent, and a magnetic piece that connects to the ball, giving easy adjustment in all directions, or complete removal. This magnetic piece connects to the phone's steel plate. My wife has an iphone 6P which works well; I have a nexus 5X.

I personally been using ProClip for a while. With my Nexus 6 I have a universal one since I have a thin case it slips in. Mounts are made per vehicle too.

Adding a :good: for the ProClip. Mine just came yesterday and works perfect.

I'm curious to see if that works out for you. I'm intrigued, but it seems like $50 is a bit steep for that mount. If it works well for you with a case, I may consider it though.
I know my solution isn't going to be for everyone, but it works well for my needs. I have a hybrid Proclip/Ram Mount solution. Proclip for the center dash mount, then Ram Mounts for the rest (ball, short arm, and X Grip holder). It's more involved than the common solutions, but it puts my phone right whereIi want it and it's rock solid--which is important for those track days.
As mentioned upthread, this does partially block the vent, but on my Mustang not by too much, and the passenger still gets air flow when it's directed their way. A bonus is the phone stays nice & cool when staying on playing podcasts while commuting, or running the telemetry apps while on track.
I can strongly recommend this one. They're a little pricey but I have them in my truck, car, 4-wheeler and mountain bike. Just the spring clips are strong and when you add the rubber sling it'll hold on to the phone almost no matter what. This one actually fits my P2XL better than my PXL. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0066BWMNU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
