[Q] Setting for minimum RAM before closing background apps? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

From my experience, AOKP ROMs often snappier than CM ones.
Yesterday I did a check and found out that Free RAM in AOKP is just about 10MB (somtime even 1MB) so it allows me to run 2 to 3 apps on the KF at the same time.
Meanwhile, CM10 Free RAM is always about 50 MB, so I hardly can run 2, 3 apps without reopen them.
So my question is: Is there any setting in CM 10 TO change minimum Free RAM to a lower value? I've checked Performance Setting with no luck.

Tried dalvik settings in build.prob, still wouldn't work.

The difference is more likely caused by aokp's kernel parameters set in /system/etc/sysctl.conf:
Code:
vm.dirty_ratio = 90
vm.dirty_background_ratio = 55
vm.min_free_kbytes = 2048
vm.oom_kill_allocating_task = 0
vm.swappiness = 0
vm.vfs_cache_pressure = 20

Thanks, @twa_priv, I'll definitely give it a try.
And I guess there is no such setting then?

### HIGH CPU/BATTERY/memory USING APPS ### SOLUTION REQUESTED ###
exchage service has high cpu usage at 12-14 percent constantly and so does audioeffectservice at 4-6 percent constantly
android system is at between 30 and 40 percent of battery consumption second only to screen/display at 25 percent brightness on all ICS beta ROMs
out of the 335mb (as opposed to the advertised 512mb) of ram the kernel are system are taking a whooping ~110mb and ~71mb of space respectively. someone oughta lower these.
plus if someone could look into re-partitioning via customMTD , hBOOT or whatever else it takes so we can have higher space in ouy data partition, i'd be most greatful.

[Q] Whats Your A100 & A500 Benchmark Score?

After rooting, unlocking bootloader, flashing Flex http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589034 my score is 2729. Runs real nice now.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Here is mine with flexreapers with his a100 tweaked kernal (so i can control the cpu max feq for power saving)
Only setting out of the ordinary i have enabled is Force GPU rendering (just experimenting with things to see how well it all works0

very nice, what app are u using to tweak the cpu? if you wouldnt mind posting what runs smoothest with no crash. basically a limit threshold. with crossix sd mod i only got up to 2744
I got up to 2830 using set cpu and performance governor with flex rf1. On my usual interactive it got a hair lower, 2790-2800 over 4 runs. Overall I seem to pull about 2750 averaged out. Rf1 isn't any faster then my 3.1 but I was already using the kernel in rf1 ( i think anyways, it was the second kernel he released for 3.1) on it, which did boost the score up about 300 points.
Edit: my bad I used antutu cpu master not set CPU

How do you turn on force GPU? No option like that in the menus. And does it cause any problems?
Its under developer towards the bottom of user interface. None that I've noticed so far, but I've only had it enabled for about 3 hours of use.

core control, system tuner, setcpu, no frills.. none working

Hi,
The title says it all.. they are not working.. I am using ARHD with stock kernel.. each of them reset the values to default on waking up, reboot, or randomly, or an app pushes the on demand limit..
What I want to do is to limit the clocks to 640 ( or 10000 at least) on daily use..

This is a known issue with Tegra 3. At some low level, those values are governed by the CPU. Whatever you set them to, doesn't stick. Only governor and IO Scheduler sticks.
However, this doesn't mean that your CPUs work at the maximum possible frequency all the time. The Tegra architecture manages the CPU frequencies and you see a distribution of times at different frequencies.

.
EDIT: There is one thing you can do. Using SetCPU, under Advanced tab, you will see Powersave Bias (0-1000). Set to 0 on mine. If you set it to 400, your CPU will never go above 1000-1100 depending on how many CPUs are online. I am not sure if this will stick though. If you test it, let us know.

Disable sweep to wake on paranoid android

Hi all I can't seem to disable sweep to wake on paranoid android have tried custom settings app etc any ideas? Its just annoying in my pocket at work lol
Sent by me
use a 3rd party app such as trickster mod to disable, or use a file explorer to set 'sys/android touch/s2w enable' to 0. Alternatively, try alex's kernel v16, has a protection against accidental awake.
Will have a look cheers

Download a file explorer like Root Explorer, allow root access and then go to system, open the build prop in text editor (mount R/O or vice versa) find the script pertaining sleep2wake and change the value to ZERO. Save changes and reboot. Done.

Questions about CM11 on your device

1. Can navigation button be on the right side (not below) in landscape mode. Can't find any settings about that.
2. Can general android setting be divided on 2 column like on all tablets and in stok firmware?

1. I don't know.
2. you have to edit your build.prop in your system folder. If I remember correctly, you have to set your LCD density to 260

Thanks.
But now I have 320 in stock CM11. But I will try change it on 480 maybe...
245 will give you the twin panels. SlimKat is set up like this, I switched to infected SlimKat at first to save me changing dpi every flash. Now I love it.

Cool. Set on 260. Very nice.
With 245 navigation bar too small
I thought that if set this parameter bigger navigation buttons goes on right side in landscape mode like on my nexus 4...maybe
I mean like this (this is screen from my Nexus4)

I don't understand why on tablet they didn't do the same.
The navigation buttons in this case would be under the right hand ...
