Any hope for my HARD, yes HARD BRICKED galaxy nexus?

So I recently ****ed my gnex 6 ways from sunday. Im talkin no screen no dl mode no fastboot. NOTHIN, ZILTCH. When plugged into comp i get the noise over and over again as if im removing and repluggin the cord repeatedly. sometimes after 20 minutes of that it will finally show up in device manager as unknown device or OMAP440. but thats rarely and it dont stay long. Im no noob and this seems a clear cut case of a Hard Brick. But I beg of you, PLease prove me wrong. Thanks all.
Got the jig. Yup, this thing is ****ed. Probly gna send it to the big S jus to see what they gotta say. Thanks to all those who helped.
I'm pretty sure there is a usb jig that will force odin mode. If that doesn't work I think you'd be screwed. Here's a video on how to make your own jig. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKRrTZayRxU
Or you can buy one already made for $5.50 US at http://usbjig.com/
What were you flashing when this happened?
a little info on how this happened can help.
Are you unlocked and rooted?
Did you drop the phone?
If you call the phone, does it ring?
In other words, is it your screen that's broken? I recently returned a rooted HTC thunderbolt with a non functioning screen back to stock to take advantage of factory warranty.
Sorry to be vauge. to clear things up;
No, Never Dropped, still looks brand new. Definately not the screen. This things a brick. And I was running a linux installer last i'd seen the phone but i had left it unattended for probably 15 mins or so. Also, heard the jig dont work on these, can anyone elaborate? Thanks
Linux installer? No, what exactly were you doing or flashing?
Thats it. Nothing else was going when i left it

Send it to a service center and say "I downloadz app and it won't turn onz"
I can tell you that motorola was good about rooted phones being serviced, not sure about Samsung.

There's multiple reports of the Galaxy S II jig working with the Gnex. I hope this helps. There is a forum on another website I can post the link if you want with a confirmed report of the jig working.
Anyway here's the link to buy the jig $1.60 with free shipping is a pretty good deal to save a $600 phone. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/unbric...msung-t959-i9000-i897-m110s-i8700-i9100-93514

this is one of the reasons why phone companies are so against unlocking bootloaders. people screw up their rooted, unlocked phones and then send it back to vzw or the manufacturer to cover the bill.
if you're going to root your phone and mod it, then man up and accept the consequences when you derp it.
not saying the op isn't going to accept full responsibility, but your advice is what's wrong w/ some in this rooted community.
Since the linux installer is only using chroot then one would think that it is simply adding its distro to the system partition then chrooting to start. How this bricked you is puzzling. There's no flashing operation here...
I'm guessing hardware failure. The coincidence is hard to ignore though. However, you weren't there when it actually died so who knows what happened.
i was flashing stock ICS 4.0.4 with Odin and then half way through an error came up. so i removed closed Odin from the PC and tried redoing it. and then it was saying analyzing files.
and so i closed it again and restarted the phone. and what came on the screen was a sign, with a phone dots an exclamation mark dots and a monitor. i think thats when the phones bricked rite? any help?

not bricked at all mine did it
happened to me do you have version 1.85 of odin and do you have a propper version of 4.0.4
odin 1.85 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394051&highlight=odin+stock
the 4.0.4 version i used here http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
i had the same thing on my screen and it all worked fine the second time round.. i tried for a total of 8 hours doing different things but this worked with the latest odin.
make sure you load via the pda Make sure in the ODIN program "Re-Partition", "Phone EFS Clear", and "Phone Bootloader Update" are NOT checked.
hope that works. im a total novice but worked a dream

Sorry your post is so retarded I have to double reply.
Do you really think the tiny amount of repairs coming from botched hacks is the reason most companies are locking bootloaders? Like really..
My advice is what's wrong? Hmm..
Maybe the OP should "man up" and go buy a new handset instead of Samsung hiring some monkey for $12 an hour to hook his phone up to a jig.

So is my phone hard bricked?

Basically, here is what happened.
Was flashing a new ROM with CWM, and I was using the new CWM touch (which I though was cool at the time). When I flash my ROMs, I usually have it on a SD card ready to go, format everything (ext, system, interal_sd, dalvik cache, battery stats, etc) but when I flipped my phone over to pop in the MicroSD card, my index finger hit the reset button. Oops...I thought no big deal at that moment, until I realized that my phone wouldn't do anything now.
So yeah, when I hit the power button the blue LED comes on, but screen stays black. Have to pull the battery to get it to go off. So I went to radio shack, bought some 100k resistors and made a jig...didn't work. When I pop it in, it just gives me the blue LED immediately, but that's it. I thought my jig was bad, so I bought one from usbjig.com, which does the same thing as the one I made. Either the one I made was bad as well as the one I bought, or my phone is beyond fixing? I am infuriated with CWM Touch, which I thought was great...but it's the reason I'm in this predicament. Any hope of fixing, or should I just activate my old Plam Pre until I can get a new phone?
Hope you bought insurance.
CWM touch destroys our phones. There are only a dozen or so threads telling people to stay away from it.

Oh fully agree that I made the mistake of installing CWM Touch without researching it. But are you saying there is no fixing my phone?
Hey OP, its not looking good my friend... I am a little confused though, why was your SD card out while flashing? Is that how you had been flashing ROMs: take card out, wipe, then insert card and flash ROM? As all of that is unecessary, when you wipe the phone it does not wipe the ext sd card as well. Second, does your computer recognize the phone at all, when you plug into the USB do you hear a "ding"? My guess is that a trip to the Sprint store is in your near future. Ultimately, not a huge mistake just $35 out of pocket if you dont have insurance.
you bricked it. warranty, insurance, or sell. i lost $200 due to a bricked device and no warranty.

Replaced via insurance claim, with a $100 deductible? or in store, for free?
blue light froze on me and screen stayed black. The tech thought it was an LCD issue so she replaced the screen with a white galaxy's screen. Gave a nice black/white look but the phone was bricked. Sprint replaced it for free. However if I didn't have TEP they said I had to pay $35. don't worry, you won't need to pay $100

So I spoke with someone at the Sprint store, and they basically said that if it required a replacement, I would be getting a refurb and it would be Wed at the earliest before they would have one for me. Instead of going in and dealing with them, I'm just going to do an insurance claim.
per #13 use the mobile tech videos web site. i have several friends that have used them for this very issue and works like a charm.
MobileTechVideos was able to resurrect my epic 4g too! I give them two thumbs up!
i had the BLOD( blue light of death) and nothing will fix it! no jig and no JTAG
I had a problem with my USB port not recognizing mtp/Mass strorage. They replaced it for free with a refurb. No problems since. As for touch recovery, tried it once while on gb. Nearly bricked my device back then. And no ICS was available at the time. Thank goodness. Used sfhubs one click about 7 times before it finally booted . Just my opinion, and i apologize to any devs working on a touch recovery, but touch recovery is the devil to the E4GT. I won't ever use it. I do have a few versions on the pc for Library reference, but will i ever use it..even the new one, you are playing with fire. Ya won't ever find that recovery on my phone. I hope this is a lesson learned. Take it to sprint, use your insurance (that's what its for) and chalk it up to experience.

Hello,
Yes it looks like you bricked your phone... Are you screwed, as everyone puts it. NO...
You have a couple of options.
1. If you have an LG usb power connector, Plug it into the wall and then into your phone. Then try to go to download mode. This has been reported to work on the SGSII.
if #1 does not work
2. You can send your phone out th have it JTAG repaired.
Here are 2 places I have used: Both have good reputations:

You could also take a gamble and send it back to t-mobile to replace for free. I bricked an old Nokia by uploading the wrong firmware for the wrong model once. My mom's old boss worked as a rep for T-Mobile and said they get bricked phones all the time, they aren't going to look much into it other than "it won't turn on, here's your new phone." Later on they will fix it with their stuff and repackage it to be sold again (you can read about people on here who have actually gotten developer's bricked phones that were fixed with the ROMs still on the phone memory).
Call T-Mobile, the rep will ask a few questions, just say it won't turn on charge or anything after you tried to turn it off to charge. They will ask you to check the little sticker under the battery for water damage, if no water damage they will tell you how to send it to T-Mobile. When they get it, they will send you a new phone almost immediately.
Its a win-win for you both .
Just confirming the G2X chargeing cable weirdness. My heart skipped a beat when it happened to me. Maybe thats what was screwed up with the G2X's. Anyway I was able to get $150.00 for my old G2X and bought the S2 for the T-mobile "Im sorry" price of $373 with the rebate. WOW what a awesome phone this is!!!
It's not that people are childish, it's that we are tired of seeing people who obviously shouldn't even be messing with their phone post topics that they bricked their phone bacause they didn't bother to read what they were installing. Even if they are a noob it's just plain common sense to read things thru before attempting to flash anything. When I wanted to learn all this stuff I read a bunch of articles about everything before I flashed anything.

exactly some phones will boot into download mode or boot looping and possibly not hard bricked and recoverable thru dwnld or recovery. this is a situation that has been happening on many sg3's called sudden death. happens on a lot of s3's mostly 16 gig. your phone will not boot in any way BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH!. if your is out or you dont want to wait for 14 days for a fix, this guy, as well as others JTAG your system back up with partitions, and reloads you latest OTA or rom basically to sock and you are back in business. my old backups even returned me normal after using odin to get back to root...it is very simple to also flash the wrong rom on your device which also causes a complete shutdown where even a JIG wont bring it into download mode. Point is not spending 60$. 1004 in total of fast fix and return. this guy is straight up and does an incredible job...nik

I dunno, there's a "happy story" from a guy who used MobileTechVideos posted recently, too. I've heard several people on here who have been happy with this dude on eBay so I wouldn't discount it just for that. Anyone who is going to use any JTAG service should do their research - but if it's true that JTAG can "cure" the sudden death problem that would be pretty great - and it doesn't seem completely unbelievable to me so it would be a hypothesis worth investigating, I think.

I have used Mobiletechvideos.com on my S3 when I flashed an international ROM to my T-999. He does great work. I think it was only 5-7 days from shipping it off to when I got it back and I used standard shipping. I also ordered a JIG from him just in case I do a number on myself again. haha.
I also heard of a guy who turned theirs into MTV and was told they did good. This post actually raised my trust with them even higher.

I never post but I had to add my two cents to this one. I used this guy when I hard bricked my phone and I have to agree with everything the OP described. Quick turnaround and pleasant to deal with.:good:
Well I just sent mines into this guy. If he's recommended by someone on here he must be worth trying, I mean I did also learn about mobuletechvideos.com from here. But then again it is off eBay, but the also has a 100% feedback, they can't be lies, right?

I flashed an international ROM on my T-999 months ago and had to send my phone in to them. They had it back to me in less than 1 week. Absolutely awesome.
I have a question though. When I sent my T-999 in, I also ordered a JIG just in case I brick it again. I read somewhere that if you use the JIG to get into download mode and then pull out the JIG, that it will reset your flash counter. Anyone know if that is correct?

Sorry to point this out but OP put this post in QA too. Buyer beware, this reeks of a scam.

place in several places because i didnt want this info missed . dont give that buyer beware bs not everything is a conspiracy
Just for info i have nothing against mobiletechvideo and know they do incredible work, i just can't thro out 100$ everytime i F up my phone. they do incredible work, but charge for every extra deal. 15$ for faster service, 20-25$ for faster shipping just doesn't work for me. I am not making anything from this, just helping out my friends and the community on here. I believe my total came to about 35$ shipped, fixed, and back then i ordered a jig for 1.99 on ebay. would not post anything that is not a benefit to all of us. if you want spam there is prbly a can in ur cabinet in the kitchen. lol hey i like spam

supposedly correct or stated on several post or web pages. mainly you need that to get a bticked phone back into dwnld mode when there is no other option, or you cant use dwn key, home, and pwr . this allow you to be in mode to use Odin to reflash stock or current rome. very handy tool. just google and find out the benefits. have a great day guys
Any links on eBay for $1.99, I'm finding it for $29.99.

Never mind I see them all but my concern is that jigs are not meant for hard brick as stating in the description of the item. If can't get the screen to come on the jig will not help. If I can get the screen to come on might be able to Odin myself, so what's the point of the jig.

Urgent help

My Moms lg g4 is doing a bootloop and would not turn on and i did some research that the motherboard needs to be replaced.
My Nephew just passed away 2 days ago ( only 5 years old ) and all his pictures were on her phone and his funeral is on friday is there a possibility to retrieve these pictures? i can pay anyone that can help. Thanks
I'm very sorry for your loss
I haven't tried this myself (i just sent mine to LG, regardless of potential data loss), but when mine bootlooped I came across some things that I dug up for you, maybe it helps.
First of all, the possibility to "disable big cores" and make the bootlooped phone able to boot up again (and hopefully recover your data!)

Alternatively, disassemble the phone and "treat" the chip with hair-dryer/hot-air-gun to "resolder" loose connections . . .

Some ppl even managed to get it working for a short amount of time by putting it in the freezer
That's all I know, wish you best of luck!
Thank you so much for the info. ill try them tonight.
