How To Videos on the Samsung Galaxy Note II (08/10/13) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

This has been done several times before ("How To" videos in Development threads, links below!), so this thread shouldn't be a problem. I have a Galaxy Note 2, and I will be doing SEVERAL videos on this device! I already made one on how to root, and I'll be making one on how to install a custom rom, going back to stock, and etc!
All of my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 videos can be found HERE.

And there are also threads like this, that I didn't create. Just in case something thinks I was wrong for creating this one.

MINE! Just in case I need it. I also added a "Screencast" recording to the OP! It was done at 30 FPS and quality set to HIGH. DEFINITELY the best quality screencast I've ever seen!
05/06/2012 UPDATE!
I'm going to do my FULL REVIEW of this phone tomorrow (Halo 4 kinda ruined today... Been playing it all day! Lol) THEN I'll do videos of roms and etc. People want me to keep the phone STOCK so that when I do my full review, I don't have an awesome rom speeding it up or etc. Not everyone wants to root their phone!

thanks going to view some of these

You're VERY welcome! I was determined to released the FIRST YouTube video on How To Root the Sprint Galaxy Note II, and I succeeded! I WILL BE doing videos of some of the roms currently available. I have a full time job, and get 3 days off each week. I have been going to bed and getting just a few hours of sleep lately, trying to get videos out on the days I work. I was working on my Galaxy S III video last night, and got it half finished. I'll finish it today before Dexter and The Walking Dead come on, then spend Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday making rom videos, and most importantly, how to flash stock! I will be making TONS of videos on the Note 2, but I have several other devices to make videos on as well.

I like your thinking! lol. This phone is full of so much win. Everyone around me laughs at it until they hold it and start playing with the Pen. Then they fall in love and start checking when their next upgrade is! lol

Sorry about the off topic I will delete this message and the answer but IS THE WALKING DEAD BACK ON? NEW SERIES??

YUP! It's on Season 3 on AMC, episode 3 I think! Season 1 and 2 is on Netflix!

I'm making a links page on my (hobby) site. I'll link to this thread or your videos if you don't mind. :good:

Wireless tethering, would you happen to have a working .apk or a how to video? Thanks and great videos my friend.

Sure, that would be awesome!
And the Tethering video someone else asked about, I'll work on that as soon as an option becomes available!

Added a new video to the OP for you guys! THIS ONE. When they release a 100% stock tar, I'll make a video on how to flash back to 100% stock using Odin. I also need to flash some of the roms that are currently available.

Great new video! like you, I'm waiting for the tether app to be updated. Does FlossyCarter have a review of the Note II too?

Do you recommend me selling my GS3 on ebay and then buying a Note 2? Also do you know if CM10 is available? I probably won't be flashing CM10 because I want the S-Pen features.

does that FoxFi app work with the Note 2....???

Sprint Samsung SPH-L900 (New Samsung Device - CONFIRMED as Galaxy Note 2!)

I was looking through some Samsung RDF's this morning and stumbled across a new unannounced phone!
For those that aren't familiar with an RDF they are the development and design specs for a given build on a phone. This one just happens to be for a phone that is not yet out or even announced! EDIT: I have now confirmed with a source of mine that this is in fact the RDF for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2!
Some of the cool things I found in the RDF?
Exynos4412 processor
1280x720 resolution
Android 4.1.1!
Support for EVDO, DOrA, WiFi and LTE!
2 GB RAM
16 GB HDD (with expansion slot up to 32 GB)
8 Megapixel camera
And more!
Honestly there's a ton of stuff in there and smarter minds than mine should be able to pull more out of it. This early in the RDF process I'm guessing that this is purely an engineering build and may not even be the final specs but still something to keep an eye out for!
Now for the fun stuff! FYI - The RDF is only viewable in Internet Explorer.
http://device.sprintpcs.com/Samsung/SPH-L900/LI2.rdf
Enjoy!
EDIT: Garwynn has pointed out that the Galaxy Note 2 has specs that are identical to that of the RDF. Check out this article from DroidLife for pictures and info.

Its another frequency similar to LTE. I tried to find some reading material and granted there's not much out there but here's some stuff I found.
LTE Handoff - A Mobile Perspective.pdf
Funny that you mentioned this. My guess is the Note 2.
Timing makes sense especially with these as context for it:
http://www.tmonews.com/2012/09/samsung-sgh-t889-coming-to-t-mobile-as-the-galaxy-note-ii/
It was also announced last week that the Note 2 is coming to the US but no release date was given.
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/08/2...jelly-bean-and-1-6ghz-exynos-chip/#more-81015
Since we're probably not going to see a rework of the GS3 this year that's the only other possibility.
Specs match it to a T.

I REALLY hope this is the Note 2. Now the big question. When will it get here??? Will Jelly Bean still even be considered new when we see this phone.

You won't - with swype, its so easy to type stuff that it makes little sense to have a qwerty phone these days.... just introduces a higher risk of some small component breaking.
Granted, there are some out there who can't live without a qwerty physical keyboard attached to the phone... but whatever... its only a matter of time.

If I decide to root, but still keep everything else stock for now...will it affect ability to download OTA? I've been holding off. I do know I will have to re-root after it comes of course. There seems to be conflicting info wherever I've tried to search/read so I'm just asking, officially. I don't want to have to unroot to get the multi-view love.

While you are rooted you will not be able to get OTAs
The developers that we have will take the official rom and make it custom once we get updates. Rooting wont block an OTA, it will just removes the root, you could reroot, or you could just install one of the custom roms with multiview, as the devs will update roms as soon as the official updates come along. There is really nothing to loose.
Cannot wait till the OTA comes out. I'm actually enjoy Touchwiz

I am not convinced you are correct in the statement that "Rooting does not block OTA updates". I have my Galaxy Note 2 (paid full price but then Samsung is giving me $375.00 for my *old* Galaxy Note so I am not complaining) that is only rooted, no custom rom or tweaks. Every time I go to check for updates "Settings, About Device, Software Update" it always says "Update Interrupted, phone will check for updates in the next 48 hours". This seems to me like it is not actually connecting to the update server (I have tried over WiFi and over 4g with the same results).
Could be that you are right and I am wrong and my phone is not right, but everything else about my Galaxy Note II is AWESOME.
I am counting on Kies having the update as soon as AT&T does it OTA and I will just get it by direct connection to my laptop.

I am pretty sure every phone I have had that has been rooted ( 7 phones and 1 tablet) has been able to download updates some couldn't install them. Just last week my rooted nexus 7 was prompted for the 4.2 OTA and it updated successfully. There is a chance you'll lose root or even brick your device. So be careful.

I found out about the upgrade offer via email. You might have to subscribe / register an account on their website to get emails, promos, etc. I was suprised my Note 1 upgrade was more than street value. It was a no-brainer to upgrade, although I was a bit hesitant because I like the Note 1 black color better.
Wtf note 1 trade 375. Sgs3 trade 275. Thats retarded. The 275 is better than craigslist moronic offers ive been getting. The note1 is outdated and less value than a sgs3. I dont get it the sgs3 isnt as old and far superior

Hey - it's rude to use the word retarded. You'll cry when you end up having a 'retarded' kid. Aside from that, I think the Note 1 is an alternative to the SG3. The specs are pretty much the same, but you get the bigger screen - unless you want the smaller screen.

Just trying to understand the basics of the phone - 2nd smartphone since the GSII was replaced 7 times and never actually used it for anything other than basic calls -- so I finally got the SG III, so I'm a newnewbe, and I can screw up my pc just by turning it on. hit your 50's and learning curve is more like trying to fish in the desert ! I used exynos abuse, worked like a charm with one click. Don't forget to install custom recovery, I prefer TWRP.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Too soon to get Note 3 features en masse on the Note 2.

I recently rooted my note 2 on my mac. The only site with a decent tutorial on how to root with a mac was galaxynote2root. com. Even if you are not using a mac, this website has tons of different tutorials on how to root/flash/backup, rom reviews and more.
I was also able to get in touch with Max from HighOnAndroid (the developer of the site) on twitter at zedomax. He was available, and answered my questions within a few hours.
As far as getting Note 3 features on your Note 2, there is a rom called Tiagra or Tigra rom, but it is only available for the GT-N7100 (do not attempt to flash that rom on any other Note 2!). Hopefully this rom will be available for the T-Mobile Note 2 soon, because it is probably what you are looking for.
I hope this was helpful. Good Luck.

Hello all! New tester and phone junkie.

Hello everyone. My name is Stephanie. I have a stock Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from Tmo and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 n8013. I have been rooting and playing with my phones since the old Palm days. Why I wanted my Palm to be and Apple I will never know. Yuck! Android junkie now! I worked for a year with Sprint as a phone technician. I am ASC certified by them. (What a joke.) I am going to root and I am looking for a good rom to try. It doesn't have to be stable. I don't mind being a beta tester and helping with development. Feel free to send me a message and say "hello." Have a great night or day, depending on your location.:highfive::highfive:

Give the Alliance ROM a try, if you like Android 5.x. That one and DomPop are the 2 best ones I've used and I'm reasonably new to the Note 3 myself. Have fun!
Thanks for the recommendation! I have been on my Note 3 for awhile now. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up. Have a great day!
